CHARCHUK, Lillian Mary Theresa (nee Furrie) With sadness we announce the passing of Lillian Charchuk of Leduc, Alberta on December 17, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Lillian is survived by her loving family, her husband of 48 years, Thomas, sons, Tom of Leduc and Stephen (Steffi) of Kingston, Ontario, daughter Sherry Charchuk of Edmonton, a grandson Stephen, her brother Kenneth (Lois) Furrie of Kingston and her sister Joyce Thompson of Manotick, Ontario, also her nieces, nephews and friends. Lillian was predeceased by her parents Helen and John Furrie and a sister Joan. Lillian spent her childhood years in Old Chelsea, Quebec and graduated in nursing from St. Joseph's Hospital in Peterborough, Ontario in 1951. She practiced her profession with the Victorian Order of Nurses and at the General Hospital in Ottawa, finally making her home in Leduc in 1972. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hainstock and Son Funeral Chapel, Leduc. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Parish, 5105 - 45A Street, Leduc with Reverend Michael Mireau officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lillian may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Edmonton or the charity of personal choice. DONALDSON, Jean Edith (nee Smith) April 2, 1933 - December 15, 2005 Our beautiful "Bonnie Jean" It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a wonderful woman. She was the beloved and loving wife of 49 years to Robert James Donaldson and a devoted mother of Brenda (Roger Sarty), Ian (Deb), and Sheila (Rob Fisher). Predeceased by her parents Ellard and Gladys Smith and by her sister Mary (the late Archie MacMillan). Cherished sister of Helen (Arnold Beaudoin), Merle (Marcel Martin), Doris Sinden, and Jack (Gina). Beloved sister-in-law to Evelyn, Diane (Michael Iles), Wilfred, Ellen (the late Ernie Mash), Joan, the late Elsa (the late Wally Bosas) and the late Gordon Donaldson (Rose). Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. FITZGERALD, Heather Lillian S.R.N., S.C.M. Peacefully at home on 17th December, 2005 surrounded by her family in her 83rd year. Loving companion and wife to Peter. Mother of Anthony, Michael (Ann), and daughter Ann Marie Tracey. Cherished Nana to Sean Tracey. Predeceased by her brother Peter Petersen Jr., and sister to Brenda Bell. Born beneath the ever present Liver Birds, guardian Angels of the city of Liverpool, England, to Captain Peter Petersen ss Masula, and Martha Lillian (Varey) Petersen. She was lovingly raised by her Auntie Mabel (Rowe) and grandparents Mary Ann and Joseph Varey near the blue suburban skies of Penny Lane. Heather's 40 year nursing career began in wartime Merseyside at Whiston Hospital, caring for soldiers of all nationalities with tenderness and dedication. She was registered as a registered nurse in 1946 and received her midwives certification in 1947. Being the daughter of a ship's captain she needed no second thought to accept the position of a nursing sister on the ships of the Bibby Line. While on the M.V. Somersetshire she met the dashing radio officer Peter Fitzgerald, her lifelong soul mate and as kindred spirits sailed to ports in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Burma, India, Indonesia and Australia. Following their immigration to Canada Heather continued her nursing career at Hamilton General Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario and when Peter's career took him to Ottawa she worked in the Montfort Hospital pouponniere retiring in 1982. Snowbirds Heather and Peter enjoyed many years at Saddlebag Lake and Lady Lake Florida. The family is grateful for the unmatched compassion and care of the Palliative Outreach Program and caregivers Dr. Farncombe and her team, as well as, Bayshore Health Services especially Janet and daughter-in-law Ann who took such wonderful care of Heather in her final weeks. Friends and colleagues may pay their respects at a memorial at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue (Barrhaven) between 7 and 9 p.m. on Thursday. HILL, Heather Anne (Nickelson). Passed away Peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2005 at the West Island Palliative Care Residence after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Heather was an active member of the Hudson community, a sportswoman, and a dedicated social worker. Heather was an inspiration to all who met her with her enthusiasm for life, her spirituality, and her caring nature. She will be sadly missed by her husband John, daughter Alison (Stuart), sons Matthew and Nicholas, and by her sister Fay (Ronnie), and her brothers Ted (Michelle) and Duncan. A service will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at 3 p.m. at the Hudson Community Centre to celebrate Heather's life. MARKUS, Natan. Peacefully, and with great dignity, Natan Markus passed away on December 18, 2005 at the age of ninety-one. He was predeceased by his wife Basia, and will be sadly missed by his loving daughter MaryAnn Markus Harrison, son-in-law Ken Harrison, his beloved granddaughters Lily and Kelly, and his cherished companion of eleven years, Eve Semmel. Markus gave us joy, strength, and wisdom throughout his time with us, and his courage, determination, and dignity shone greatly through these last three months. A profound gratitude to the extra-ordinary staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Mount Sinai Hospital. A heartfelt thanks to Nellie for being there. As per his request, there will be no funeral. OBITUARY BARBARA JUNE (NEE ALTER) NICHOLSON Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on December 17, 2005 at the tender age of fifty-eight. The most important things in her life were her family and friends. She will be remembered by them for her love and kindness, her warmth and her compassion. Barb fought a courageous battle with cancer over the last three years. She participated in various fundraisers most notably the CIBC Run for the Cure under the team name Barb's Buddies. Just two months ago she completed the 1 km walk on her own. BEGORA, Jill Elizabeth - On Saturday December 10, 2005 after a courageous struggle, Jill in her 60th year has sadly left us and found peace. WOITO, Phyllis (nee Mason) - Peacefully at Cassellholme on Monday, December 19, 2005, in her 69th year, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Phillip and Evelyn Mason, sister Joy McCahery (Michael), brother Cecil (Joan) and dear friend Donald Woito. Phyllis is survived by her loving daughter Rhonda Hampel (Dave Bosma) of Callander and her beloved grandchildren, the two greatest joys in her life, Ryan and Brittany Hampel, both of Toronto. Also survived by her siblings, Marlene Dufresne (Maurice) and Donald Mason (Gail) of North Bay and Bryan Mason (Susan) of Toronto. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Joan Sorjonen (Emmerson Bartraw), Marlene Olivaires (Sergio) and Evelyn Thom. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Phyllis worked for Social Services at the North Bay City Hall for many years as a secretary. FURMANIC, Victoria N. (nee Wupori) In loving memory of Victoria N. Furmanic (nee Wupori), 77 years of Sudbury who passed away Sunday, December 18th, 2005 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. She was born in Creighton and married Harry Furmanic in 1954 in Sudbury. A life resident of the Sudbury area Victoria had worked at the Salvation Army for many years. She was an associate member at the Royal Canadian Legion Br#76 Sudbury where she had many good friends. She enjoyed the comraderie and the various activities & events at the Legion. She will be remembered as an excellent cook who liked doing crossword puzzles, going to the casino, and listening to country music. The focus of her life was her loving family especially her precious grandchildren. Beloved wife of Harry Furmanic predeceased 1977. Loving mother of Maryanne Meunier (husband Larry) and Larry Furmanic (wife Lorriane) both of Sudbury. Cherished Baba to Christopher (wife Tara) and Jonathon. LALONDE, John L. In loving memory of John L. Lalonde, 55 years who passed away suddenly Friday morning December 16, 2005 in Pointe Claire, Quebec. John was born in Sudbury, Ontario and attended Lasalle Secondary School where he met his partner and love of his life, Dorothy Moores. He lived and celebrated their lives together in Montreal surrounded by his loving family. No matter whose path John's life crossed, there was always a warm feeling of friendship left behind. ALLARD, CHAUNCEY E., 91, of Beach Row in Narragansett, a former chemical engineer, died Thursday, December 15th at his home. He was the husband of the late Esther (Harris) Allard. Born in Jefferson, ME on June 6, 1914, a son of the late Charles M. and Naomi (Bartlett) Allard, he moved to RI with his family in 1922. Mr. Allard is survived by one daughter, Edith Allard; one granddaughter, Dianna Normanton; two great-grandsons, Shea and Tozin Vaccaro; two sisters-in-law, Justine Harris and Mary Conn; many nieces and nephews, especially Clyde Pignolet and his wife Donna who took special care of him. He was the father of the late Robert G. Jeannette E. Bonneau of Central Falls, R.I., formerly of Pawtucket, R.I., a retired certified nursing assistant, died Saturday. She was 84. Born in Central Falls, she attended Our Lady of Consolation School. She had lived in Pawtucket all of her life until recently moving into a nursing home. In later years, she was a self-employed certified nursing assistant, having worked in private care in the greater Pawtucket area. She was previously a homemaker who devoted herself to her children after the death of her young husband. Mrs. Bonneau was a communicant of St. Edward’s Church, Pawtucket and had a lifelong adoration for St. Jude. While living in Burns Manor, she was a member of the Tenants Association and she enjoyed crocheting, cooking and hand work. Wife of the late Raymond J., Mrs. Bonneau is survived by two daughters, Arleen McGlone of Pawtucket and Gail Marcoux of Pawtucket; three sons, Ronald of Cumberland, R.I.; Russell of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Donald of Pawtucket; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward’s Roman Catholic Church, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. WORCESTER— Valrey R. "Val" Boudreau, 82 of Worcester, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 18th surrounded by his family in the VNA Hospice Residence. Val is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years Marilyn (Bryan) Boudreau; his beloved children, Val R. Jr. and his wife Mary Boudreau of Wilmington NC, Phil N. and his wife Denise Boudreau of Sutton, and Dennis W. Boudreau of Tybee Island Georgia; daughters, Sandra H. and her husband Charles Roth of Fitzwilliam, NH, Marilyn A. and her husband James Cleary of Worcester; a sister, Shirley Leger of Gardner; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A sister, Marion Bryan pre deceased him. Born in St. John, New Brunswick Canada, he was the son of Byron and Harriet (Beasley) Boudreau and has lived here most of his life. Val was a World War II, U.S. Army Sergeant, a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. Val most enjoyable times were spent with his family at their summerhouse in Dennisport on Cape Cod. Val owned and operated Fine Book Binding Company, specializing in reconditioning rare books, many years before retiring. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and the Battle of the Bulge Association. He was an avid Red Sox Fan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 21st, at 11 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum. BOURGEOIS, FRANCES O. A resident of Fort Smith, Ark., she died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Peachtree Hospice of Fort Smith. She was 80. She was instrumental in promoting the performing and visual arts in Fort Smith and was a recipient of the 1997 Civic Center Honors Award. She served as president of the Fort Smith Musical Coterie and as chairperson of the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival for 25 years. Mrs. Bourgeois was a 1941 graduate of Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and a 1946 graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Before she settled on a career as a professional piano teacher, her early career in Louisiana included service as a band director in Golden Meadow, second-grade teacher in Morgan City and pianist in the Harry Greig Dance Band in Lafayette. She was an accomplished musician and taught piano for more than 50 years. She brought piano lessons to students at Lavaca and Christ the King schools and taught private lessons in her home until recently. Later in life, Mrs. Bourgeois had another career, as a surveyor for Research Triangle Institute. In addition, she worked for the federal government, retiring from the Census Bureau in 1999. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 2701 Old Greenwood Road, Fort Smith. The family will visit with friends after the service at the Bourgeois' home at 2000 S. 65th St. A second memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. After the service, the family will visit with friends at the childhood home of Mrs. Bourgeois at 139 Meche Road, Arnaudville. She is survived by her husband, Calvin R. Bourgeois of Fort Smith; daughters, Kathy LeDew of Harlingen, Texas, and Debbie Bourgeois of San Diego, Calif.; sons, Karl Bourgeois of Bowie, Md., and Rick Bourgeois of Baton Rouge; sister, Ellen Ramier of Arnaudville; brothers, John Olivier of Sunset and Joe Olivier of Mauldin, S.C.; and grandchildren, Karen Payne, John Bourgeois, Rich Bourgeois, Jim Bourgeois, Adam Bourgeois and Michael Paul Bourgeois; and two great-grandchildren, Roger and Ashley. OXFORD— Mary M. (Bruccoli) Pelletier, 77, known to many as “Wee Wee,” passed away peacefully on December 15, 2005, surrounded by her family after a long illness. She is survived by four children, Gary J. Peltier of Webster, Susan M. DiPietro and Melissa A. Ford, both of Oxford, and Michelle A. Macaruso of Hubbardston; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Peltier, Jessica Fox, Jennifer Navedo, Geraldine Peltier, Michael, Kyle, and Blake Macaruso, Haley and Cassie Ford, Laurel Lang, and Kristi Stout; and six great grandchildren, Dustin and Julia Fox, Gabrielle and Anthony Navedo, Christopher Peltier, and Kali Stout. She was born in Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late James and Isabelle (Morris) Bruccoli, and lived in Millbury for most of her life before moving to Oxford 10 years ago. Mrs. Pelletier worked at the Greyhound Bus Company in Worcester for many years. She was a member of St. Brigid’s Church in Millbury and volunteered her services at the Providence House Nursing Home in Millbury for several years. Mrs. Pelletier loved New York City and was an avid New York Yankees fan throughout her life. She was known to her friends and family as a very generous person, she enjoyed going to the casino, and she especially loved spending time with her family. Rose C. (Carriere) Masi of Carolyn Avenue, Danbury, wife of the late Joseph Masi, died at Danbury Hospital on Monday, December 19. She was born in New York City on December 4, 1911 and was a graduate of Port Chester High School.Mrs. Masi worked as a bookkeeper for the Port Chester Housing Authority. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury.She enjoyed her monthly trips with her daughter to Foxwoods.She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Rafe Gradia and her husband, John, and granddaughter, Cara Gradia, with whom she made her home; and her sister, Teresa Carricciola of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cocker spaniel, "Sparky."In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Daniel, as well as several brothers.A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury.
