Stephen Lee Matherne, 78, a native of Bayou Blue and resident of Houma, died at 11:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2005.Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Samart Funeral Home in Bayou Blue. Religious service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in Matherne Cemetery in Bayou Blue.He is survived by his wife, Nobby Matherne; three sons, Lionel, Bubba and Tom Matherne; one daughter, Nita Matherne Gros; one brother, Whitney Matherne; three sisters, Thelma Trahan, Tessa Brownlee and Mona Boquet; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Loveless and Beaulah Matherne; one brother, John Matherne; and two sisters, Elaine Matherne and Isabella Hebert.He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Houma.

Stanley Paul Lemoine, a native of Moreauville and a resident of Baton Rouge, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at his home. He was 69. He is survived by his wife, Rebekah Bowden Lemoine; a son, Stanley Paul Lemoine Jr., Baton Rouge; daughters, Yvonne Murphy and husband Michael Murphy, Baton Rouge, Denise Bordelon and husband Keith Bordelon, Simmesport, and English Harrell and husband Scott Harrell, Atlanta; former son-in-law, Leon Lemoine, Baton Rouge; former daughter-in-law, Tara Brown LeBlanc, Morganza; grandchildren, Dustin Lemoine, Baton Rouge, Roshelle and Derek Bordelon, Simmesport; and great-grandchild, Daniel Cavanaugh, Baton Rouge. He also is survived by sisters, Diane Dauzat, Mon Clá, and Mabel Lachney, Kenner; brother, Oliver Lemoine, Mansura; former wife, Bernice Mayeaux Smith, Mansura; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Olivier and Ellen Lemoine. Stan proudly served as a career officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart medal for injuries suffered in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Marine Corps, Stan returned to Louisiana and graduated from LSU. He served as director of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act Program for the city-parish government under Mayor Woody Dumas. Stan served as clerk of court for the Louisiana 1st Circuit Court of Appeal from 1981 until his retirement in 1998. During his tenure, the first permanent courthouse for the 1st Circuit was built in the state governmental complex in Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Dec. 19, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Interment with military honors in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, Moreauville, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and grandsons. Blais, 77, died Dec. 18, 2005, at Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington.She was born May 11, 1928, in Elmont Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of Anthony J. and Loretta (Tonner) Loehr.She graduated from Elmont High School.She was married to Maurice E. Blais on Nov. 28, 1946, in Elmont Long Island. He predeceased her in 2000.Mrs. Blais was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield.She enjoyed baking, knitting and bingo.Survivors include three sons, James Blais of Fairfax, Mark Blais of Phoenix, Ariz., and Gregory Blais of Ashville, N.C.; three daughters, Karen Hocker, Michelle Baker, both of Springfield, and Jeanne McCarthy of Valley Mills, Texas.; two brothers, Anthony Loehr and James Loehr; five sisters, Rosemary Abramski, Josephine Deveau, Mildred Martone, Sr. Ellenita Loehr and Jean Sclafani; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was predeceased by two brothers, William and John Loehr.There will be no calling hours.The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield. VAN BUREN - Leona C. Paradis, 94, died Dec. 15, 2005, at a Van Buren nursing home. She was born May 18, 1911, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Patrick and Adele (Marin) Perreault. She was employed as a clerk and department manager for W.T. Grant Co. for several years. Mrs. Paradis was a member of the Evangeline Circle Daughters of Isabella, serving as treasurer for 14 years and as vice-regent for two years. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Van Buren and was a representative for the North American Benefit Association for more than 30 years, serving for a time as service secretary. She is survived by three sons, Donald Paradis and his wife, Bella, of Stafford, Va.; Kenneth Paradis and his wife, Gerry, of Wells, Robert Paradis and his wife, Rachel, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Ann Avery and her husband, Ivan, of Cherry Hill, N.J.; one sister, Bertha Lemire of Manchester, N.H.; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Alban J. Paradis in 1998; one son, Daniel Paradis in 1983; and by a daughter, Elaine Cyr in 2003. Oliver Pilon, 75, of Grafton, ND died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton. Oliver G. Pilon was born April 22, 1930 at Oakwood, ND the son of Emay and Delphine (Collette) Pilon. He was reared and educated at in St. Andrew's Township, rural Oakwood and attended country school there. After his education he began farming with his father. On July 12, 1950 he was united in marriage to Flora Sevigny at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakwood. They made their home on a farm in St. Andrew's Township where he farmed until retiring in 1992. In 1992 they moved into Grafton. Oliver became a resident of the Lutheran Sunset Home in June of 2004. He was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, a former member of the Eagles, served on the Rural Fireman's Board, and the Board of Directors of Associated Potato Growers.Oliver enjoyed spending time at the lakes and loved ice fishing in the wintertime. They later enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Oliver is survived by his wife of 55 years, Flora; children: Brian (Deanne) Pilon, Grafton, ND, Noel (Jill) Pilon, Drayton, ND and Gayle (Bernard) Brewer, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Tyler and Kayla Pilon, Elizabeth Pilon and Samantha and Danielle Brewer; brothers: Jerome Pilon, Drayton, ND and Francis (Lenore) Pilon, Nisswa, MN; sister: Regina Pederson, Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Kevin Brewer. Mr. Guidry was a native of Sulphur and a resident of Duson for the past 14 years. He was a Roughneck in the oilfield and a lifelong member of the local Union 692. He was a very loving and kind man who enjoyed dancing and partying. Mr. Guidry was happy-go-lucky and loved to work and help people.Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Cynthia T. ELLSWORTH - Arlene M. Levesque, 67, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at a Blue Hill hospital. She was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Trenton, the daughter of Charles H. and Gertrude M. (Boulier) Springer. Arlene was employed for many years at County Ambulance and was a registered nurse at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Agape House, Collier's Nursing Home, and Courtland Rehabilitation and Living Center, all in Ellsworth. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ellsworth. Arlene enjoyed gardening, knitting and baking. She is survived by five sons, Edward W. Barr and his wife, Tressie, of Hobart, Okla., Thomas Barr and his wife, Carolyn, of Haskell, Texas, David Levesque and his wife, Susan, of Newcastle, Jonathan Levesque and his wife, Christina, of Town Hill and Michael S. Levesque and his wife, Joy, of Southwest Harbor; four sisters, Velma Howard and her husband, Merle, and Thelma Doane, all of Cardville, Lillian Welch of Orono, Roberta McLean and her husband, Peter, of Old Town; a brother, Donald R. Springer of Henderson, N.C.; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Arlene was predeceased by a son, William Vital Levesque; a brother, Charles H. Springer Jr.; and a sister, Alice Stewart. GUÉNETTE, Marc 1909 - 2005 Marc Guénette nous a quittés doucement, discret comme il l'a toujours été. Il était l'époux de feu Marie-Rose Poitras. Olive M. Bergeron, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005 at her home. She was born March 29, 1921 in Cloquet to Arthur and Marie (LaRocque) Bergeron and graduated from Cloquet High School. Olive was a life long Cloquet resident and worked at Potlatch for many years. Olive was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Roland and Leonard Bergeron. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Parks of Cloquet; one brother, Orville Bergeron of Cloquet; two sister-in-laws, Marion and Grace Bergeron both of Cloquet; one grandson, Mark Parks of Mpls.; one granddaughter, Perlyn (Ryan) Utter of Mellen, Wis.; two great-grandsons, Austin and Tylor Utter; and numerous nieces and nephews. GAULIN, EUGENE P., JR., 57, of Puritan Street, died December 17th at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy (Campbell) Gaulin. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Eugene P. Gaulin, Sr. and the late Claire (St. Jean) Gaulin.He had been a resident of North Providence for nine years, formerly of Seekonk.Eugene was the Chief Information Officer for Douglas Lumber in Smithfield. Brother of Frank, Jr., Gene and Richard LaFlamme and the late Kathleen and Evelyn LaFlamme. Step-father of Robert and Marc Brissette. Grandfather of 7. Great-grandfather of 1.Mr. LaFlamme had worked as a supervisor for the State of Rhode Island, before retiring. HOLYOKE - Steven J. Grenier, 52, of Holyoke, died Dec. 17, 2005. Born in So. Hadley on April 30, 1953, he was the son of Earl and Mary (Rodzick) Grenier. He attended Holyoke schools and graduated from Holyoke High in 1971. Steven worked as a machinest for many years at the Reynolds Manufacturing Co. of Holyoke and also worked at Pond Ekberg of Chicopee and the Bordeaux Co. of Springfield. He loved gardening, carpentry and cars. Steven was predeceased by his father in 1996 and is survived by his mother, Mary of Holyoke; his two brothers, Edward of AZ and Henry James of CA and his two sisters, Nancy Belaire of Granby and Barbara Rigali of Texas along with several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday morning from the Dillon Funeral Home, 124 Chestnut St., Holyoke, at 8 a.m. with services at the funeral home at 9 a.m. with burial in St. Jerome Cemetery. She was the beloved wife of the late Adelard Corriveau who entered into eternal rest, July of 1966. GILL; Kenneth “Where there's a Gill; there's a way“ With his beloved wife, Kathleen, of 54 years at his side, Kenneth Gill passed away peacefully in his 76th year at Kingston General Hospital on December 17, 2005. Maintaining his signature sense of humour to the end of his journey, he leaves this trait and the family motto to his children Keith (Paula), Sherryl French, Kevin (Cathy) and Laura. Ken is survived by one brother, Mornee (Lilly) of Newark, England, predeceased by Samuel Gill and Florence (Reynolds) Gill, and siblings Roy and Al (varado), all of England. Born in a caravan, in a farmer's field in Derby, he was a tank mechanic in the army until moving to Canada in 1949. Ken met Kathleen (McDonald) in Toronto where they married six months later. Ken and Kathy moved to Kingston in 1967 to raise their family and owned two HVAC companies; Gill Refrigeration and Commercial Cooling. Grandpa is “dun worKen“ but will not be forgotten by grandchildren Adam (Tomoko), Ben, Colin, Laura, Melinda, Jessica (Jason Trotter) and James, Courtney Howes and Brittany Ferguson, Amy and Amanda Tregunna. Frank graduated from Patten Academy in 1951, and was a self-employed carpenter most of his life. He was a member of the Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, Patten, where he was an active member of the UM Mens Club and cooked for all of their functions. He was also a member of the Patten Liars Club. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Leavitt) Volette; one son, Scott and his wife, Lori Violette; and one daughter, Roanne Violette, all of Benedicta. Known to his three loving grandchildren as "Papa," Joshua and his fiance, Paula, and special little Lillianna, all of Vermont, and Taren and Brandi of Benedicta; one sister, Ann and her husband, Wallace Townsend, of Island Falls; two brothers, F. Bourdages, Daniel DANIEL BOURDAGES C'est avec grande tristesse que la famille de Daniel Bourdages vous fait part de son décès subit à l'âge de 13 ans, survenu jeudi le 15 décembre 2005. Malgré le fait que Daniel ait eu une vie écourtée, ce fut une vie courageuse et pleine de joies. Il était entouré d'une famille aimante et dévouée, d'amis et de professionnels qui lui ont offert un soutien indéniable. Daniel était reconnu pour son sens de l'humour et sa joie de vivre.
