BEAULIEU (née Vanier), Monique 1951 - 2005 Suite à une dure lutte contre le cancer, le 13 avril 2005, à l'âge de 53 ans est décédée Mme Monique Vanier de Saint-Rémi. Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux Pierre Beaulieu, ses deux filles Maryse (Jean-Pierre Malette) et Valérie (Daniel Leduc), son petit-fils Guillaume, sa mère Marie-Jeanne, ses soeurs Louise, sa jumelle et Thérèse, son frère André ainsi que ses beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces, parents et amis. ATCHESON, CONSTANCE H. - The death of Constance (Connie) Hilda (Owen) Atcheson, formerly of the Admiral Beatty Complex, wife of the late Lennox Atcheson, occurred on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home Inc. Born in Annapolis Royal, NS, she was a daughter of the late Gertrude (Gothrope) and Major Daniel Owen, KC. Connie worked for many years at the Saint John Regional Library in the reference department. She was a member of the Sir Douglas Hazen Chapter of the I.O.D.E. She is survived by two daughters: Sandra (Ian) Christie of Quebec; Elizabeth (Bette-Anne) Taylor of Saint John, NB; and five grandchildren: Alice, Jennifer, Jaye, Bree and Chad, one great- granddaughter: Anneke. She was predeceased by two sisters: Mary and Katherine, and one grandson Scott. By request there will be no visiting. A graveside service will be held at St. Albans Cemetery, Annapolis Royal at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the IWK Children's Hospital or your local Veteran's Association. KAMINSKI, Stanislaw, Peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2005 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at age 81. Stanislaw Kaminski, beloved husband of Helen for 45 years. Loving father of Elizabeth (Ezio) Visentin, Joan (Ernie) Guidoccio, Richard (Laura ) Kaminski and Edward Kaminski. Grandpa will be missed by Carlo, Ariana and Ava. Stanislaw worked from 1951-1984 for I.N.C.O. Mines in Sudbury. He was a long standing member of the Sudbury and St. Catharines Polish Combatants Association, St. Casimir Polish Church in Sudbury and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in St. Catharines. BENNETT, Charles (Chicky or Charlie) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Bennett at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. DOJACK, Charles Ernest Peacefully, on Thursday, March 31, 2005, Charles Ernest Dojack passed away at the Richmond Lions Manor in Vancouver at the age of 86. Charles was born in Winnipeg on April 25, 1918, the son of Czechoslovakian parents, Rosa and Frank Dojacek. He attended public school at St. Johns Colleges and Arts Pre-Law at the University of Manitoba. Upon returning from the War, Charles took over as the publisher and general manager of National Publishers Ltd., which published five ethnic newspapers, including The Canadian Farmer, Der Nordwestern and The Croation Voice. During his 28 year publishing career Charles was the President of the Ethnic Press Federation comprising nearly 100 weeklies, President of Winnipegs Sales and Advertising Club, Director of the Winnipeg Press Club, President of the Canada Press Club of Winnipeg and Director of the German Canadian Business Association of Manitoba. Although Charles was obviously devoted to his work, he spent even more of his time devoted to his community and the arts. Positions held by Charles included Director of the Canadian Folk Arts Council, Founder of the Community Folk Arts Council of Manitoba, National Director of the Dominion Drama Festival, Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Member of the National Executive for the 1967 Pan Am Games, Vice President of the Winnipeg Symphony and a first desk cellist of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for eight years. In 1973, Charles and his wife Anne moved to Ottawa. Charles was a special consultant to Canada Manpower and Immigration on the 1973 Immigration Adjustment Program and the 1975 Green Paper on Immigration. While in Ottawa Charles was the President, Director and fund raising chairperson of the Canadian Citizenship Federation. Charlie married Anne Margaret (Carpenter) in 1947 and raised three children Roberta (Axworthy), Ron and John in Winnipeg. His upbringing left Charlie with an understanding of the strong importance and devotion to family and friends. Mom and Dad truly were what you wish for in a relationship of growing old together. The loss of Mom to a heart attack left Dad decimated. Perhaps it was a result of all he did for his fellow-man that fate enabled Dad to meet an old musical acquaintance from Winnipeg, Donna Grescoe. Our family was happy when Dad eventually married Donna on Dec. 29, 1996. Many happy years were shared in Vancouver. Dad will also be sadly missed by his five grandchildren, Michelle and David Axworthy, DeNeige Dojack, Jeffrey and Michael Dojack and all of his other friends and relatives that he touched so deeply. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302-171 Donald Street. NADON, Donald Louis Aurel Died peacefully at the Rideau Veterans Health Centre. Born June 12, 1930. Son of Aurel and Margaret Nadon. Donald served in the Royal Canadian Regiment from 1950 to 1965 serving bravely during the Korean Conflict. He continued his career as a draftsman in the Public Service. Donald will be sorely missed by his children Wayne (Nicky), Robert, Linda and his grandchildren Brian Nadon, Les MacGillivary and Stacey William; his sisters Arlene (Cliff) of Pembroke and Joyce (Geoff) of Ottawa; his brother Larry (Pauline) of Ottawa and his many nieces and nephews. OBITUARY ROSE DERRY (nee Hitchcock) In her eighty-third year, Rose died peacefully after a brief illness on April 12, 2005 in Burlington, Ontario. Much loved mother of Douglas and his wife Barbara of Whitby, Lorraine DeGroote of Burlington, and Karen Coleman and her husband Stephen of Hamilton. Cherished grandmother to Alison, Kevin, Heather, Brandon, Devin, Shane, Ian and Cameron. Formerly of Montreal and Toronto, Rose emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland with husband John and the children and soon became an active member in the Montreal Highland Dancing Association. She was also an exceptional teacher and produced many champion dancers. Rose was a very talented entertainer, choreographing and producing many Scottish shows in Montreal with the highlight being events at Expo 67. She will be remembered by her tireless devotion to her pupils and to the art of highland dancing. Mrs. Derry was a proud and independent woman who would drive her children throughout the U.S. and Canada to compete at the highland games, while her husband was at sea. She will be sadly missed. HENRY, William James (Jim). Passed away peacefully in Florida after a brief illness on March 19, 2005 at the age of seventy-six. Jim was the beloved husband of fifty-three years to Sybil. OBITUARY GEORGE HILGERS Passed away April 14, 2005, peacefully with grace and dignity at home from pancreatic cancer, aged seventy-four. George was loved and treasured by his wife, Ramona Randall, by his Mother, his brother Bernard (Mieke), and by his nieces, Florence and Hildegard, and extended family in Europe. As a youth in Amsterdam, he experienced the turbulent times of World War II, which shaped a character which remained European in his culture and in his preference for civilized living over occupational ambitions. George emigrated to Canada in 1951, travelling first to Western Canada, coming to Montreal in 1955 to find his permanent home where he represented McGraw-Hill-Ryerson for many years among university faculties. He balanced a devotion to reading, books and chess with an equal devotion to tennis. George was a gentleman in the best sense of the term: loyal and true to his family and friends, respectful and thoughtful about other people, intolerant only of discourtesy or unkindness, stimulating in conversation, and wise in judgment. Thanks are extended to the staff of S9-East, Royal Victoria Hospital, and to the dedicated nurses from Aylmer-Must who attended him at home. No services are planned at this time with perhaps a reception for friends at a later date. Cremation at Mt. Royal Funeral Complex. Beloved wife of the late Bill Laundrie (1992). Loving mother of Judith (Mrs. Victor Deline) and Patricia Laundrie (Frank Hotte) both of Espanola and the late Billy Laundrie (1960). Will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Victor, Tammy (fiancé Larry) and Joanne and great-grandchildren Alannah, Kimberly, Amber and Adam. Dear sister of Stanley (Bud) Raymond (wife Marg) of Thornhill and Kathleen Lewis of Boulder, Colorado. In her younger years, Peggy worked in Ottawa for the Government and later moved to Espanola. She and her husband started a taxi business and a bus business. She was involved with the Rebecca Lodge, skating and dancing, and a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader. Peggy also loved to play cards. Her neighbor, Mrs. Somerville, will miss their over the fence talks. Peggy, (Great) as he was called by her great grandchildren, loved when her great- grandchildren came to visit and spend time with her. We had many very special days. She helped in so many ways. How lucky we all are to have had her here with us to make us laugh, give our family much love, respect and moral codes. Her pleasant smile and laughter will be missed. McIVOR, Gladys Loretta Gladys Loretta McIvor, age 89 years, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 16, 2005. She was born September 20, 1915 in Transcona, Manitoba and she was a daughter of Torger and Mabel Nesby. Gladys is survived by her sister Lois (Los Angeles); sons Jim and wife Helen (Thompson), Richard (Winnipeg), Brent and wife Marilyn (Whistler); grandsons Keith, Lee and Cameron; granddaughters Ashleigh and Lindsay; and six great grandchildren who all held a special place in her heart. She will be missed by many including very special family friends Mary and Bob Kerr. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar of 66 years on December 4, 2004. Gladys was a devoted mother whose number one priority was family and home. She supported Ed in his mining career first moving to Sudbury in 1936 when Ed started with INCO. The moved to Levack mine in 1945 and were one of the first families to move to the new mine complex in Thompson in 1959. The family gratefully acknowledges Health Sciences Centre - Dialysis Unit and the Golden Door staff for their dedicated and very compassionate care. ST. AMAND, Francis Thomas "Tom" Passed away at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site on Thursday April 14, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Loving husband of Beatrice Henry (predeceased December 2002); dear father of Ruth Cox (Stephen) of North Bay and Michael St. Amand (Marilyn Lee) of Petawawa; and grandfather of Chloe St. Amand, Heather Cox and Veronika Cox. He was predeceased by his parents Peter St. Amand and Adella Caron, brothers Alphonse and Oscar and sister Margaret. Born in Sault Ste. Marie on September 2, 1913, Tom moved to Pembroke as a boy. He told many stories of working summers at Father Holly's Boys' Camp and playing hockey for the Pembroke Lumber Kings. During the depression he worked in the Box Factory and Sawmill of the Eddy Match Company, until he ventured out diamond drilling in northern Quebec. This eventually took him to Sudbury where he got on with INCO. During WWII he joined the RCAF, working as an aircraft mechanic. He returned to Garson in 1945 to marry his sweetheart Bea. Returning to INCO, he held various positions from Mucker, Welder, Drill Fitter, and Mechanic to finally retiring as the General Foreman of the Mechanical Department at Levack Mine in 1973. Tom and Bea enjoyed many happy years of retirement in North Bay, surrounded by good friends and family. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has already taken place. A mass to celebrate Tom's life will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church (Memorial Drive at the overpass) on Monday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the parish hall prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, 591 Cassells Street, North Bay (705-472-8520). SACO - Joseph E. Desrochers, 80, of Wildwood Drive, passed away Friday morning, on April 15, 2005, at his residence.He was born on June 20, 1924, in Biddeford, a son of Albert and Violet Vachon Desrochers. Joseph graduated high school from Thornton Academy.In 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy and attended the Wentworth Institute. Joseph was aboard the USS Niobraro until 1946. He sailed to many seaports around the world, including the surrender and ceremony at Tokyo Bay, with the war with Japan in 1945.Mr. Desrochers was employed by Saco Lowell Shops for six years. He also worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 35 years, retiring in 1986. While at the shipyard, Joseph completed the apprentice program for four years and became an apprentice instructor. He also was a supervisor for 18 years of the planning and estimating department.He was a lifetime member of the Biddeford & Saco Country Club. Mr. Desrochers attended Most Holy Trinity Church.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean F. Sinclair Desrochers of Saco; a son, Joseph E. Desrochers Jr. of Old Orchard Beach; a daughter, Bonnie Cote of Old Orchard Beach; two brothers, Albert Desrochers of Saco and Paul Desrochers of Scarborough; a sister, Eva Edwards of Salem, N.H.; four grandchildren, Chad and Tyson Desrochers, and Erik and Emily Cote; several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday from Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James St., Saco. (Frechette) Hamilton, 64, a longtime resident of the Centralville section of Lowell who was an active church volunteer and also aided people with illnesses, died Thursday, April 14, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. HARRY A. LAVALLEY -- BURLINGTON — Harry A. Lavalley, 94, a lifelong resident of Burlington died Friday, April 15, 2005, in the Starr Farm Nursing Center following a short illness. Harry was born in Burlington, Oct. 16, 1910, the son of the late Louis G. and Helen Eva (Young) Lavalley. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1927, and attended Burlington Business College. He was married at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Rutland on his birthday, Oct. 16, 1932, to Marion (Elder) Lavalley, who predeceased him on Feb. 19, 2000. Harry was employed for 20 years with the Champlain Valley Fruit Co. in Burlington and Rutland, and 23 years with the City of Burlington Sewage Treatment Plant, retiring as superintendent. He was one of the founding members of the Burlington City Employee's Credit Union. Harry was parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Burlington, and was a member of the Cathedral High School Fathers Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the Rotary Club. He is survived by three sons, the Rev. Richard G. Lavalley, pastor of St. Francis Xavier in Winooski, Donald T. Lavalley and his wife Judith of Burlington, and David P. Lavalley and his wife Margaret of Orange, Texas; four grandchildren, Kellie Parks, and Megan, Peter and Steven Lavalley; one brother, Richard E. Lavalley of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; and special nieces and nephew, Jean Sharp, Jean Sullivan and Jim and Lisa Elder. Harry was predeceased by his brother, Robert Lavalley. FALL RIVER -- Helen D. (Legacy) Barrette, 71, of Westport died unexpectedly Thursday, April 14, 2005. She was the widow of Henry J.A. Barrette. Born in Burrillville, R.I., the daughter of the late Albert and Grace (Halstead) Legacy, she lived in Westport 45 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. Mary Alice was born in Flint, Michigan on July 25, 1929 the daughter of the late Lloyd and Helen (Siminski) Page, and was a resident of the Flint area all of her life. She married Kenneth "Jim" DeCourval on February 10, 1951, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2001. Mary Alice was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, fishing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Susan DeCourval and Larry Stecco of Flushing, Janice and husband Chip Hill of Saginaw, Linda DeCourval of Canton, Mary Kay and husband Mark Freedman of Farmington Hills; son, David James and wife Anita of Bad Axe; grandchildren, Kristi and husband Dmitriy Movsesyan, Brad West, Heather, Matt and Greg DeCourval, Rachael and Lindsey Freedman; brother, Richard and wife Nina Page; sister, Arlene and husband Robert Medlyn and several nieces and nephews. DRUMMOND - Raymond Piche, 86, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, in Missoula after a lengthy illness.He was born on the homestead at New Chicago on Aug. 8, 1917, to Joseph and Louise Piche. He received his education in Drummond and at the Modern Business College in Missoula. He enlisted in the Army and served in the European Theater where he received his Purple Heart.He married Audrey Hamilton in 1951.He worked at various jobs including operating the Texaco gas station in Drummond with his wife for 12 years. He later worked for the state liquor store in Drummond.Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his wife, who died in 2002.Survivors include his brother, Lewis Piche and sister Vivian Duell, both of Missoula; nieces Audrey Hamilton of Virginia, Julie Duncan of Washington, D.C., Kitty Smith of Alaska and Cherrie Anderson of New Jersey; and nephew Joe and Dee Woods of Alberton.He treasured his association with the senior citizens and his many special friends in Drummond including Mary Bray, Dora Kolbeck, Bev Seabrook, Nancy Marler and families.Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Drummond, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. the church. Military honors will follow at the Valley Cemetery. A luncheon will then be held at the Drummond Community Hall.Pallbearers will be Joe Woods, John Pozder, Mike Leeper, Pete DeRosier, Garry Mentzer and Dallas Marler.Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.Jewell Funeral Home in Deer Lodge is in charge of arrangements.

LEBANON — Andrew “Andy” Joseph Plante, 79, of Lebanon died at his home on Friday afternoon. He was born in Somersworth, NH on March 27, 1926 a son of Joseph and Lydia Plante. He grew up in Somersworth and came to Lebanon in 1946. In November of 1946 he was married to Elaine O’Day and they made their home in Lebanon. Mrs. Plante died on May 4, 1992. Andy was most recently employed by the City of Lebanon Police Department as a crossing guard in West Lebanon at the corner of Maple and Dana Streets.He had also worked as a mechanic at Decato Brothers Trucking for many years and the Lebanon Woolen Mills. He was a member of the Lebanon Lodge of Elks and enjoyed gardening. He was also well known for giving away fresh oysters he had gathered from the New Hampshire Sea coast as well as fresh vegetables he grew in his garden to many people in the upper valley. He was a devoted member of AA for the past 20 years and helped numerous people through difficult times.He is survived by a son Robert of Lebanon, 2 daughters Donna Hutchins and Claire Plante of Lebanon, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, 6 sisters Irene Allard, Cecile Brenan both of Dover, Adrian Gagnon of So. Berwick, ME, Louise Grenier of Rochester, Alice Milliard, and Marian Morest of Somersworth, 4 brothers Emile of Biddeford, ME, Gerard of Newmarket, Joseph of Dover, and Marty of Rochester, as well as many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by a sister Rita LaPage and two brothers Napolean and Phillip.Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lebanon on Sunday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. Burial will be at a later date at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lebanon. Robert J. "Uncle Bob" Proulx, 89, of Manchester, NH died April 15, 2005, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on April 13, 2005.He was born in Manchester, NH on June 13, 1915, the son of Alexander and Virginie (Remillard) Proulx and had been a lifelong resident of the Queen City. He was founder of Uncle Bob's Superette on the West Side. He played in a band called the Paramount Hawaiian Orchestra and was well known for putting together talent shows with the City of Manchester. He was the widower of Annette (Desfosses) Proulx who died in 2000. Robert was a parishonner of Sacred Heart Church and spent many years in Hawaii.Family members include five sons; Donald Proulx of Haines City, Florida, Richard Proulx of Bedford, Robert D. Proulx, David Proulx and Ronald Proulx, all of Manhcester, three daughers; Mrs. Jean-Paul (Lucille) Tanguay of Candia, NH, Mrs. Wayne (Irene) Frost of Hampton Falls, NH and Mrs. Glen (Mary) Leidemer of Auburn, NH, 27 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hazel Elizabeth Thibodeaux, 77, of China died April 14, 2005 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Church Point, Louisiana and was a resident of China for the past fifty-three years. Maw Maw worked in Hardin Jefferson Independent School District for many years, and spent the rest of her life loving and caring for her five children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone was welcome in her home where you could expect great home cooking, homemade cake, a good cup of coffee and Mama's special care. CORINTH - Marjorie J. Ganeau, 70, the wife of Arthur Ganeau, died April 14, 2005, after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Parkman, the daughter of Archie and Marion (Vowels) Wallace. She was a graduate of Dexter High School, Class of 1952 and lived in Dexter most of her life. She had been an employee of Plummer Memorial Hospital and Dexter Shoe. She loved her dogs and was especially fond of flowers and gardening. Surviving in addition to her husband of Corinth are two daughters, Kimberly Spencer and her husband, Phillip and Kelly Lovell, both of Corinth; six grandchildren, Kevin Hartley, Nicole Spencer, Megan Spencer, Sarah Lovell, Melissa Lovell and Joshua Lovell, all of Corinth; two sisters, Marilyn Larrabee and her husband, Orland and Beverly Getchell, both of Dexter; four brothers, Linwood Wallace and his wife, Sherril, of Newport, Dale Wallace and his wife, Barbara, of Corinth, Raymond Wallace and his wife, Donna, of Dexter and Leonard Wallace and his wife, Carol, of Dexter; several nieces and nephews and her close friends, Clayton and Marion Carr of Dexter. 1932 - 2005 À l’Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, le 13 avril 2005, à l’âge de 72 ans, madame Hélène Brisson nous a quittés pour rejoindre son époux monsieur Normand Larouche. Native des Grandes-Bergeronnes sur la Côte Nord, elle a passé sa vie à Baie-Comeau et elle a terminé ses dernières années à l’Ancienne- Lorette. Elle laisse dans le deuil, ses enfants: Marie, Nicole (Bertin Pelletier), Diane (Sylvain Drolet), Yvan (Rémy-Noël Poulin); ses petits enfants: Mathieu, Christian, Patrick et Guillaume ainsi que ses frères, sœurs et ses plus proches amis.
