Survivor of the Duplessis Government in Quebec, dead at age 65, January 7, 2003. Fernand Joseph Amedee Traversy, born August 4, 1937 in Montreal, Quebec. Former resident of Des Varennes Orphanage from the early 1940's to 1950's. Survived by his three sisters Florette, Lauren and Helene. Sadly missed by friends Nadia, Bobie Boudreau, Joe, Jirina, Henry and Louise. Father of seven children. Highly respected and loved by many. Mentor, friend and confidant to Brenda Folks. It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Kelly (nee Hills) announces the passing of their mother in hospital, Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at the age of 71 years. Widow of Daniel Kelly and loving mother of Douglas (Linda), Michael (Karen), Sharon (Brock Davies), Jeffrey and Anne (Carl Seifert). Fond grandmother of Samantha, Leigh, Kirk, Kelly, Emily and Brittany. Surviving are her sisters Margaret Dywan and June (Russ Geoffrey) and brother Ken Hills (Louise). Our mom gave selflessly of herself to her family and friends and asked nothing in return. She will be greatly missed. At Hillel Lodge on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at the age of 83. Beloved and devoted husband of Fania (nee Paszt) Ingber. Loving father of Rachel and Howard Schachter, of Ottawa and Abie Ingber, of Cincinnati. Zayde to Davida and Joshua Schachter and Avital, Dorit, Tamar and Arielle Ingber. Caring younger brother of Hena Smialy and Sarah Fuks of blessed memories. Wolfe Ingber was born in Szczebrzeszyn, Poland. and came to Montreal in 1948 as a survivor of the Shoah. He lived in Montreal, found work in the textile industry and raised his family devoted to the Jewish faith and the Jewish people. Wolfe Ingber was often the spokesman for his landsmanshaft, and was actively involved in the Beth Ora Synagogue and a senior citizens entertainment troupe through the Golden Age Centre. As a result of his entertaining abilities he had a cameo role opposite Olympia Dukakis in the movie, Never Too Late. His greatest pleasures came from being with his six grandchildren, sharing simchas with nieces and nephews and their families, reading and gardening. In 2001 he moved to Ottawa. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 24, 2003 at the Jewish Community Cemetery, Osgoode at 1 p.m. Shiva will be observed at Hillel Lodge until Monday, January 27, including evening Services. Ralph Trenholm PORT ELGIN, NB - The death of Ralph Trenholm, age 74 of Port Elgin occurred suddenly on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at his home. Born in Port Elgin, he was a son of Delilah (Larsen) Trenholm and the late Alton Trenholm. A 30 year employee with the Dept. of Highways, he retired in 1990. Ralph was an active volunteer with the Red Cross and an avid Maple Leaf fan. Ralph will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Florence Legere, Port Elgin; his mother Delilah Trenholm, Port Elgin; two sons, Randy (Frances), Moncton and Danny (Lori), Riverview; two grandchildren, Adam and Megan; three brothers, Donald (Doris), Robert (Linda) and Florin (Dewey) (Lillian), all of Port Elgin; and a sister, Helen (Stuart) Burke, Port Elgin. Clara S. Williston 1914-2003 MIRAMICHI, NB - Mrs. Clara Susanne Williston, widow of the late Morrison Williston, of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home, and formerly of Bay du Vin, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday, January 24, 2003, at the age of 88. Born in Black River Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Christina (MacDonald) MacDonald. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Miramichi. She is survived by two sons, Boyd Williston (Jean), and Frank Williston (Norma), all of Miramichi; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Morrison, in 1986; one son, Robert Williston; two sisters, Laura Merritt and Isabel MacDonald; six brothers, William, Archibald, Berton, Melbourne, James and Richard MacDonald. (Bernard-Pierre) 1918 - 2003 Le 23 janvier 2003, est décédé à l'infirmerie de La Prairie, Frère Paul-Émile Lavergne, à l'âge de 84 ans, dont 65 années de vie religieuse. Fils d'Isidore Lavergne et de Délima Demers, il est né à Masson, le 19 juillet 1918. Il entra au noviciat de La Prairie en 1937 et fit profession perpétuelle en 1943. Il enseigna à Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, à Philipsburg et à Montréal: Saint-Pierre-Claver, Saint-Stanislas. Il fut par la suite adjoint au directeur des écoles Dollard-des-Ormeaux et Saint-Charles, dans l'ouest de Montréal. Enfin, il dirigea les écoles de La Prairie, juvénat et de Contrecoeur. À sa retraite, il fut chargé de l'accueil des visiteurs au Domaine Saint-Bernard, au Mont-Tremblant. La dépouille mortelle est exposée à la maison des: Frères de l'Instruction Chrétienne 870, chemin de Saint-Jean, La Prairie le mardi 28 janvier de 15 à 17 heures et de 19 à 21 heures et le 29 janvier 12 h 30 à 14 heures. MARY LUCIER Tuovi Maria Elisabeth (Mary) Lucier passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2003, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born June 17, 1917 in New Finland, SK the eldest daughter of John and Ida Knuuttila. She is survived by Bill, her husband of 54 years and one son Grant Lucier (Audrey) of Winnipeg. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nicole Squires (Perry) of St. John's, NF, Trish Goncalves (Rui), Shaylene Lucier, Ginette Lucier (Marvin Lockhart), and Cody Lucier, all of Winnipeg and seven great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by one sister Sylvia McDougall of Moosomin, SK. She was predeceased by two brothers, Arne and Art and two sisters, Kay and Martha. In accordance with Mary's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held at this time. We wish to thank the staff on the second floor (Lloyd Locke Ward) of the Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home (Deaf Center Manitoba) for their dedication and support these last three years. En 1946, elle entre au Monastère des Augustines de la Miséricorde de Jésus à Roberval où elle oeuvre pendant huit ans. En 1954, cofondatrice de L’Hôtel-Dieu d’Alma, elle contribue à l’organisation des différents services et assume plusieurs responsabilités. Depuis 1969, suite au Concile Vatican 11, avec des compagnes de sa communauté, elle oeuvre dans le milieu populaire d’Alma. Elle s’implique en faveur des économiquement faibles et contribue, avec leur participation, à la création des organismes communautaires dont l’Association des citoyennes averties d’Alma, le Service budgétaire populaire et communautaire d’Alma et l’Atelier de formation L’Encrier. Elle met également beaucoup d’énergie à la promotion des femêmes dans l’Église et la société. Son dernier combat fut la loi sur l’élimination de la pauvreté votée à l’Assemblée Nationale en décembre 2002. En 1989, avec ses consoeurs, elle rejoint la communauté des Soeurs du Bon-Conseil de Montréal dont le charisme et les oeuvres répondent à ses options de justice sociale selon l’Évangile que la fondatrice Marie Gérin-Lajoie l’exprimait ainsi : « Aimer son prochain, c’est d’abord chercher à rétablir en sa faveur des conditions normales de vie. » Prière de ne pas offrir de fleurs. November 3, 1920 - January 23, 2003. Dad passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital with his beloved wife, Irene, by his side, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by Donna (Pierre), Fred (Carmalita), Cathy (Daryl), Maureen (Ron), as well as his grandchildren Julie, Lindsay, Kelly Ann, Michael, Melissa and Alexandra. He is survived by brother Leo, and sisters Kathleen (Gerry Parsons), Dolores (late Ron Buccino), Patricia (Leo Cahill), predeceased by his parents James Frederick and Julia (Stafford), also brothers Ken, Sarsfield (Shirley), Russell (Pam) and Fred (Marg). He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Many thanks to Dominique Plante of the CLSC Samuel de Champlain, his doctors and all those who have helped and supported Mom and Dad throughout this past year. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. OUILLON, Norman Joseph The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Thursday, January 23, 2003, at the a ge of 64 years. Beloved son of Alice Bouillon (née Tremblay) of Sudbury and of the late Maurice Bouillon. Loving father of Larry Bouillon and Melissa Rochon both of Ottawa, Marc Bouillon and Cary Bouillon both of Sudbury and Kevin Bouillon of Edmonton. Dear brother of Gerry (wife Doreen) of Lively, Roger (wife Bernice) of St. Charles, Robert (wife Terry) of Sudbury, Paul (wife Jill) of Oshawa and Diane Ness (husband Robert) of Toronto. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Ashlee-Taylor, Daniel, Kerry-Ann, Ryan, Melanie, Jennifer, Matthew and Kate. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends. Mr. Bouillon, was a Canadian Pacific Railways yardman for 15 years and was retired from INCO where he worked as maintenance mechanic. A very active outdoorsman, Norman loved fishing, trapping and hunting. The family will receive friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Sunday from 2-5 pm and 7-9:30 pm.
