SAVOIE, Marcel Joseph - Passed away at his home, with his loving family at his side, on Sunday October 11, 2009 at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Irma, son Luc (Jo Anne) of Niagara Falls, daughter Elaine (Knut) of Burlington and son Mitch (Jennifer) of St. Catharines. Marcel's greatest joy were his grandchildren: Cory, Victoria, Jamie, Andre, Jacqueline, Cameron and Nicholas. Dear brother of Bernadette and Clarisse of New Brunswick. Marcel was an active member of St. Antoine de Padoue Church, Vice-president of Le Club Alouette and a Grand Knight of the Chevaliers de Colomb Conseil St. Antoine # 9253. Many will know and remember Marcel from his days as proprietor of “Border Movers” and “Marcel's Fish Stop” at Sylvia Place market. ESRAELIAN, Dick Ron - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Dick on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the age of 84. Predeceased by his loving wife Bertha (1996). Cherished father of Linda Gulotta (Gus), Michael Esraelian (Josiane), Gary Esraelian (Eileen), Tammy Houtby (Mark), Lori Cage (Brian); he will be missed by 15 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Survived by his sister Alice Tosoian and Mary Chalmers. Predeceased by his sister Isabel. Dick was a lay reader and member of St. Columba Church. He was a member of the Seymour Masonic Lodge. He retired from General Motors in 1980 and was an active member of the GM Retirees. He gave generously back to the community volunteering for St. Catharines General Hospital, Henley Regatta and School Boy Rowing among others. Dick will be greatly missed and remembered by his family, his many friends, and most of all his children. Tremblay Soeur Pauline 1918-2009 Le 13 octobre 2009, est décédée à la Maison provinciale des soeurs du Bon-Pasteur à l'âge de 91 ans et 7 mois, soeur Pauline Temblay (Soeur Sainte-Pauline-de-Rome) après 66 ans de vie religieuse dans la Congrégation des Soeurs du Bon-Pasteur. La communauté accueillera les parents et amis à La Maison provinciale du Bon-Pasteur, 424, rue Bégin Chicoutimi Les heures d'accueil sont le vendredi 16 octobre 2009 de 19h à 21h. Samedi le salon sera ouvert à compter de 8h30. Les funérailles auront lieu le samedi 17 octobre 2009 à 10h à la chapelle de la Maison provinciale du Bon-Pasteur. Soeur Pauline Tremblay était une personne très sociable qui aimait la vie et qui s'est intéressée à l'actualité et à la cause des pauvres jusqu'à la fin. Elle a même suivi des cours à l'Université du 3e âge. Sa carrière apostolique s'est déployé dans le secteur de l'enseignement pendant 33 ans, dans les milieux de Jonquière, Chicoutimi, Mistassini, Péribonka et l'île d'Orléans. Ensuite, elle s'est dévouée avec coeur dans les services communautaires dont celui de réceptionniste pendant 15 ans. À partir de 1987 juqu'à 2005, elle a collaboré avec un intérêt soutenu à des oeuvres sociales et caritatives à Chicoutimi et à La Baie. Outre sa famille religieuse, soeur Pauline laisse dans le deuil sa soeur et ses frères : Édith (feu Honoré McDonald), Louis-Philippe (Jacqueline Vaillancourt) et Julien (feu Rachel Hébert). Elle était aussi la soeur de feu Marie-Reine, feu Cécile-Marie, feu Marcel (feu Marcelle Boivin), feu Thérèse, soeur du Bon-Pasteur, feu Léo, feu Esther, feu Marie et feu Madeleine. GEORGANTONI, Kalliopi 1953-2009 Passed away on October 11, 2009 at age fifty-six. She was born in Greece to Nickolaos and Panagiota (Rosakli) Georgantoni. She is survived and mourned by her husband Anastasios Priftakis, sons Leonidas and Nick, daughter Georgia (Patrick Morritt), grandchildren Timothy and James, brother George (Nectaria) and brother and sister-in-laws, Panageotis (Irene), Thomas (Dimando), Theodora (George), Saranto (Kiki), Kalliopi Georgantoni. She also leaves behind and will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Nickolaos and brother John. Kalliopi will always be remembered for being loving, generous and kind. Visitiations will be held on Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13 at Urgel Bourgie, 1255 rue Beaumont, Ville Mont-Royal from 5 to 9 p.m. Her funeral will be held at St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Church, 11801 Elie Blanchard Blvd, Montreal, on Wednesday, October 14 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow immediately at 805 Ste. ISAACSON, Carol (nee Goldenberg) Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2009 after a long and courageous struggle. Devoted mother to her daughters Michelle (Stephen Jacobson) and Dara and dear friend to their father Brian Isaacson. Carol was a cherished sister and sister-in-law of Gerald and Nancy Goldenberg. Proud aunt of Brahm and Heather Goldenberg and Steven and Sarna Goldenberg. Loving Graunty of Kyle and Isabelle. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Bea and Lou Goldenberg. Carol will be sadly missed by her soulmate Richard Dixon and his children Bonnie and Chris. The family would like to thank Dr. Tony Woods, Dr. Stephen Aaron, the staff at the University Hospital and Laurier House as well as her many friends who were unwavering in their kindness and compassion throughout her illness. KARALIS, Ioannis 1928-2009 Passed away on October 11, 2009 at the age of eighty-one years. Beloved husband of Soultana Karalis (Dagli). He also leaves to mourn his children Aspacia (Yannis Savvarikas), Kosta, Thanasis (Christine Meech), Katerina (Thomas Marz). Leaving behind his adored grandchildren Zissis, Joanna, Amalia, Alexander-John, Gabriel, Jeremy and Juliana. He also leaves behind his brothers Jack and Georges and their families. McKAY , Olive (Lazarowich) Olive McKay passed away at home on October 8, 2009 at the age of 91 years. MURSELL , Nephia May 14, 1919 - October 10, 2009 Nephia Mursell passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Nephia is lovingly remembered by her daughters Myrna Mursell and Shirley (John) Grant; son-in-law Armin Wushke (Camille); five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Joyce Seeman and June (Ronnie) Henry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nephia is predeceased by her husband Ed, daughter Candy Wushke, sisters Lorraine and Daphne. Mom was a loyal and faithful lady. She enjoyed being with family and friends. Her ever classy presence gained her the name of "Hollywood". She was one of a kind and will be forever missed. Warner MacKinney 1943-2009 À l’Hôpital de Moncton, le mardi 13 octobre 2009, est décédé Warner MacKinney, âgé de 65 ans. Né le 16 octobre 1943 à Fosterville (Oak Mountain), il était le fils de Patricia Howe Warner et de feu Robert MacKinney. Avant sa retraite, Warner a joui d’une carrière en tant qu'agent des achats au service de Modern Construction pendant 30 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Genevieve Minue, avec qui il était mariée pendant 42 ans; ses deux enfants: Luanne et Myles (Helene), tous deux de Moncton, et un frère: Herschel (Mary) de Fredericton. Une soeur, Glenda et un frère, Robert, l’ont précédé dans la tombe. À la demande de la famille, il n’y aura pas de visites. Un service funéraire aura lieu au Salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church, Moncton (858-1900) le samedi 17 octobre à 11h et sera présidé par Père Bernard Sloan. L’inhumation se fera au Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton. À la mémoire de Warner, un don à la Fondation des maladies du cœur du NB, serait apprécié. WOODS, Violet (nee Hoose) 2009-10-13 Violet Woods (nee Hoose) 94 yrs. passed away quietly in her sleep Monday, October 5th at the Rosedale Retirement Centre, Brockville, Ontario. A long time native of Thunder Bay, Vi was born October 9th, 1914 in Port Arthur to George and Elizabeth (Wicks) Hoose. She attended elementary and high schools in Port Arthur and received her teaching certificate at the North Bay Normal School. Violet subsequently taught for 16 yrs. in the Geraldton mining area (Little Long Lac) and it was here she met the love of her life and future husband, James Woods (Jim). In 1951 Vi and Jim returned to Thunder Bay and settled in Vickers Heights, where she lived for 56 yrs. Though she moved, due to ill health, to Brockville she never forgot her “Home” - Thunder Bay. Violet was renowned for her intelligence, memory and thirst for knowledge and those traits she never lost. Vi was predeceased by her parents, Husband - Jim, Brother and Sister-in-law-Jack and Frances Hoose, and a niece - Elizabeth (Hoose) Menuz. she is survived by close cousins RT and Marion Cox of Leawood, Kansas, great friends, especially Drummond Peet of Midland, Ont., Kathleen Gruen of Thunder Bay, a niece Jacqueline Kelly of Maitland, Ont. and several great-nieces and nephew. Cremation has taken place, and the funeral will be held at 1pm, Thursday October 15th at St. Mark‘s Anglican church, thunder Bay. A private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. At Vi‘s request, there will be no flowers, with donations to be made to St. Mark‘s Anglican Church, RR#5, Thunder Bay.

SORJONEN Elis "Ed" 1927 - 2009 Elis "Ed" Kalevi Sorjonen age 82 of 100 Mile House, passed away peacefully on Friday October 9, 2009 at 100 Mile Hospital. He was born August 18, 1927 in Imatra, Finland. Ed came to Canada in 1951. He married Anita in 1972, and they moved to 100 Mile House in 1974. Ed owned Ed's Auto Body for many years, and was a respected Auto Body Repairman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing pool. POSTHUMUS, Wietse - Peacefully on October 10, 2009 at the Longfields Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa in his 76th year. He leaves behind Avelina Posthumus (nee Hartsema), his dear wife and constant companion of 50 years (married October 10, 1959). Dear father of Andrew (Karen); Kathy de Haan (Bill) and Paul (Elaine). Proud Opa/Papa to Calvin, Evan, Ryan, Emily and Luke. Beloved brother of Kate (Tom Taylor); Hennie (Joe Hilverda); Leni (Peter Vander Kooij); Helen (late Mike Dykstra); Herman (Brenda) and Andrew (Laurie). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Wietse was the eldest child born in January 1934 in Alphen aan den Rijn, Holland to Andrew and Hermina Posthumus. Wietse and his family immigrated to Canada in 1947 to Owen Sound, Ontario. Wietse attend Queen's University (Economics degree) and later attended NUFFIC (Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education) and received a Master in Social Sciences. Upon graduating Wietse and Avelina moved to Ottawa where he began to work for the Federal Public Service with roles in Trade and Commerce, Department of Regional Economic Expansion with his last position as Director of Research for the Tariff Board in 1992. Wietse was an active 50 year member at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Ottawa and was the church council's clerk for ten years. Wietse battled Parkinson's Disease from the very young age of 40 but it never let it stop him. He was always willing to try new alternatives in the search of a cure. He had a quick sense of humour; loved playing bridge and euchre; playing with his grandchildren and watching sports of any kind (especially if it was his children and grandchildren). Thank you to the Longfields Manor residents and nursing staff for their great care in his final days. Friends and family may visit at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 1475 Merivale Rd. (at Gilbey Drive), Ottawa on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 5pm to 8 pm. Funeral Service at Calvin Christian Reformed Church Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 10:30 am. KENNEDY, Eunice Catherine - It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the sudden passing of our dear mother Eunice at the General Hospital on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Mom was born Eunice Catherine McGregor, July 15, 1926 on St. Joseph Island. Mom has moved on to be reunited with her husband and soul mate of 62 years, Clifford who passed away August 19, 2005. Dearest mother of Marvin (Karen), Dwain (Nuallagh), Leslie (Susan) and Clayton. Loving grandmother of Marnie Merrifield (Brian), Scott Kennedy (Melisa) of Mississauga, Rachel Kennedy Hall, Mark Kennedy (friend Natalie) of Mississauga, Sarah Allen (Nick of Hespeler, Jill Lillington and Greg Kennedy of Ottawa, Sean Kennedy and Chris Strand of Thunder Bay. Great grandmother of Jessica and Jamie; Cailyn, Laura and Kevin; Lexus; Jack and Morgan. Eunice will be fondly remembered my many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorry was a role model and inspiration to all four of her daughters. Lorry strove to better advance her own career and took pride in her daughters' many accomplishments. She loved her job and friends and the Geoscience Laboratories. She started her studies in chemistry at Cambrian and was educated in Geology at Laurentian University where she was highly regarded by both classmates and professors. She was very health conscious. Lorry was an avid runner and enjoyed long bike rides with her dog Bibi. Lorry was vivacious and full of energy. She loved to socialize with her wide network of friends. CRAWFORD, Estella Beatrice (nee Sullivan) - In loving memory of Estella Beatrice Crawford, 84 years, who passed away Sunday, October 11th, 2009 at the SRH - St. Joseph's Health Centre. Born in Canso, Guys County N.S. She married Eldon George Crawford in 1961. She Estella moved back to Sudbury in 2003 having previously resided in North Bay. She had been a kitchen worker at Extendicare-York. A proud Canadian she had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She had been a keen bingo player, avid fan of the WWF and the Toronto Maple Leafs and enjoyed music, especially Irish music. Estella was always quick to help others. She will be remembered as a very caring person who was devoted to her loving family. Beloved wife of Eldon George Crawford predeceased 2007.
