ELRICK, Charles Newman - It is with great sorrow that the family of Charles Newman Elrick announces that Charles has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Monday, October 6th, 2008. Charles was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Gertrude (Schomer) Elrick on August 20th, 2008 and is survived by his children Robert (Valli Fawver) Elrick of Blue Springs, Missouri, daughters Carol (Lee) Graham of Brigden, ON and Donna (Alan) LaPier of Wyoming, ON. Charles is also survived by his grandchildren: Ross Elrick, Marion Barr, Steven (Chanin) Elrick, and Marné Fawver all of Missouri, Laura (Frank) Grant, Sue (Wes) Harding and Ken (Kathryn) Graham all of Sarnia, Andrew (Crystal) LaPier of Petrolia, Danielle LaPier of Wyoming, Peter LaPier of Newfoundland and Scott (Annette) LaPier of Alvinston, and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Douglas Elrick (Elsie), sisters Dorothy Bailey, Dell Cox and Doreen Fletcher (Fred) all of Sarnia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his parents George and Roberta (Stewart) Elrick, brother Robert and sisters June Townsend and Phyllis Gibson and brothers in law Alfred Cox and John Bailey. Charles retired from Polysar in 1983 after 35 years of service. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, October 9th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. BISHOP, Thomas William - It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas William Bishop announce the passing of their beloved “Poppa“. Fondly remembered as a cheerful, charming, good humoured and gentle natured man, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be forever loved and missed by his extended family and friends; his beloved Yorkshire lass and wife of sixty three years, Sarah Holden Bishop (Sally), daughter Elaine Wilson (Sandy), grandchildren, Sarah Hoyles, Amanda Hillier (Stephen), Jeffrey Hoyles, Rebecca Wilson and his namesake, great grandson Kaiden Alexander Thomas Hillier and many generations of cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada, the U.S.A., Great Britain and Australia. Predeceased by his cherished daughter Susan Bishop Hoyles. Fondly remembered by his son in law Warren Hoyles, sisters in law Anne Bishop of Barrie and Margaret Garvie of Yorkshire, England. Born in Barrie, Ontario, Thomas grew up in rural areas of Midhurst and Minesing. He graduated from Barrie Collegiate Institute and proudly served five years on active duty during WWII. He was stationed in England, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland as a member of First Canadian Radar Unit. The son of the late Allison Henry Bishop and Maud Smith Bishop, he was predeceased by seven siblings: George, Cecil, Edna, Gladys, Clarence, Wilfred and Clifford. He was an active member of Barrie's Central United Church serving in many volunteer roles for over 45 years. After relocating to London, Ontario, Tom and Sally were members of St. Barnabas Anglican Parish and most recently St. Mark's Anglican Church. An avid lover of nature. A fixer. A skilled craftsman. A builder. A deeply spiritual, family man, he was caring, loving and so unselfish. He will be missed by fellow veterans, family, friends and neighbours. Always a smile, and a twinkle in his eye, “Poppa“ led by example. The family wishes to thank all the kind caregivers from V.O.N., C.C.C.A., St. Elizabeth, and most of all the devoted team at Parkwood. PLUIM, Anna - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful lady at the age of 96 at St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre in Brantford on Saturday, October 4, 2008. Anna Pluim, predeceased by her husband Wilhelm, her infant twin daughters Mary and Augustina, her parents Fokje and Wietze Wouters, and her brothers Tjeerd, Andy and John Wouters. Dear mother of Flora Roberts (Sam) of Hamilton, William Pluim (Carolyn) of Brantford, Wietze Pluim (Bea) of Welland, Augustina Sturgess (Doug) of Port Elgin and Albert Pluim (Susan) of Burlington. Cherished grandmother of Mark, Anamarie, Scott, Alison, Carolyn, Laura, Aaron, Adam, Tyler, and David. She will be sadly missed by 8 great-grandchildren. Anna was born in Friesland, Holland in 1912 where she met and married Wilhelm. They immigrated to Canada in 1948 settling in the Mount Hope area. Barbara Wessel After a courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Wessel (née Favron) died peacefully at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener on October 2, 2004 at the age of 40. She is survived by her husband Fred; children Beverly and Phillip; parents Wanda and Claude; brothers Dan (Betsy) and Nick (Cathy) ; sister Wendy; nephews Patrick, Stephen and Bradley and niece Kimberly. Mrs. Wessel will always be remembered for her love of her family and her generosity towards everyone she knew. A private family service was held at Littles Funeral Home and Cremation Centre in Cambridge. In memory of Mrs. Wessel, donations to the Grand River Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family. Marjorie May Lapsley Northview Nursing Home resident Marjorie May Lapsley died October 6, 2004. She was born in Hamilton on April 26, 1913 to Bertrand and Rose (Niles) Howard and on September 6, 1941 married Arnot Lapsley in West Flamboro. She moved to Englehart from Cambridge. Mrs. Lapsley was a wife, mother and grandmother, homemaker and foster parent. An artist from childhood, she was an organist, violinist and poet. Mrs. Lapsley was predeceased by her husband Arnot and by her brother Bertrand Howard. She is survived by her children David (Mary) of Cambridge, Sharon (Humberto) Ramos of Medellin, Columbia, Ted (Nancy) of Cambridge and Heather (Robert) Waterman of Englehart; grandchildren Carolyn and Jonathon, Tim, Judy and Jeffrey, Peter and Kimberly; and by one great-grandson. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart where the service was conducted by Doug Edwards on October 9. Burial was at the Kirkwall Cemetery in Kirkwall, Ontario. Relatives and friends from Cambridge attended the service. In memory contributions to the Northview Nursing Home Activity Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Ronald 'Ron' Lefaivre With deep sorrow the family announces the death of Ronald 'Ron' Lefaivre of Haileybury at the age of 65. Mr. Lefaivre passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 24 at the Temiskaming Hospital. Mr. Lefaivre was born May 30, 1943 in Firstbrook Township to the late Edouard and Marie-Blanche Lefebvre. He lived in Haileybury where he owned and operated Ron Lefaivre Topsoil until his retirement. He enjoyed playing music and volunteering to entertain the residents of the Temiskaming Lodge and Tri Town Extendicare. Even though he was retired, Mr. Lefaivre kept busy snowplowing, fixing old cars and helping anybody who needed a hand. His family remembers him as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed. Mr. Lefaivre is predeceased by his parents and brother Raymond. He is survived by his loving wife Thérèse and his children Hélène (Terry) Gervais of New Liskeard and Maurice (Chantal Cormier) of Ottawa. Dean MacFarlane February 2 1940 - September 25, 2008 It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of Dean MacFarlane. Dean worked for Ontario Northland Communications for 35 years, until his retirement. He was an avid curler and volunteer for the Horne Granite Curling Club. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends at ‘Sam’s Place’ or the curling club. Dean will be sadly missed by those who knew him. CAMERON, Clarence A. March 22, 1926 - October 3, 2008 Clarence Cameron passed away peacefully Friday, October 3, 2008 at Agape Hospice supported by the love of his family. He leaves behind his wife of sixty-one years, Jean Cameron and his three daughters: Connie (Garry), Penny (Jim), Donna (Dick); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He came from a large family leaving behind three surviving brothers, Stan (Pat), Gordon (Lois deceased), and Bill (Marg) and many nieces and nephews. Clarence was born in Sunnybrook, Alberta on March 22, 1926. He was the seventh of nine children of Margaret (Fairbairn) and Herbert Cameron. After growing up on a farm in Sunnybrook, Alberta, Clarence spent time in Rossland, Trail and Creston, British Columbia until he moved to Calgary with Jean and his oldest two girls in 1952. His third daughter was born in Calgary in 1959. He was a painting contractor for many years and his license plate read, "2 Coats"; reflecting his occupation and high standards, as he always insisted - a minimum of two coats of paint be applied. Clarence was the foreman and Partner at Acme Painting and Decorating for many years until he formed his own business called, C&B Decorating. Clarence retired in the 1980's to enjoy many camping trips in the Kananaskis, as well as numerous vacations to Reno, Laughlin and Hawaii with his wife Jean. One of his favourite things to do was to dance with his wife, three girls and nieces - boy could Clarence dance. He made many special trips to visit his brothers in B.C. and he loved the Nakusp and the Arrow Lake regions of B.C. where many family members lived. We would like to thank Dr. Fong, nurses and all the staff at Agape Hospice for all their care and attention during Clarence's illness. McLAUGHLIN, Bernice May (nee Steele) 1959 - 2008 It is with deep heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bernice May McLaughlin (nee Steele) on October 2, 2008. Bernice was a much loved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, who lost her lifelong battle with diabetes and heart trouble at the Peter Lougheed Centre. Bernice is survived by her loving husband Darrel; devoted son Jesse Steele; sisters Janet Kyle (Baub), Vanessa Steele; father Reuben Steele; niece Jennifer Steele-Kyle and nephew James Kyle. Bernice is predeceased by her mother Joyce Steele, Grandmother May Lehn and niece Joy Kyle. Bernice was born on April 28, 1959, in Calgary, where she lived her life. Growing up she attended Girl Guides, Camp Horizon and Girls Town. She graduated from Forest Lawn High School and later earned her diploma in Professional Cooking at SAIT, as well as a Chiropractic Assistant certificate. Over the course of her life she enjoyed traveling, live theatre, bowling, ceramics, time with family, and long conversations with her many friends. Special thanks to the many doctors and nurses throughout her life including the staff of Hemodialysis Unit 34B, and of the CCU of the PLC who were with her in her final days. PETTIFER, Elizabeth Eva (nee: Kalbhen) April 27, 1938 - October 3, 2008 Elizabeth Pettifer, beloved wife of Bob Pettifer, of Calgary, passed away on October 3, 2008. Liz was born on April 27, 1938 in Calgary and grew up on the family farm in Rockyford, AB. She met Bob Pettifer while teaching in Gleichen and they married on August 3, 1961. She taught in various schools in Calgary, retiring in 1993. Her passions in life were her family and friends. Liz was always available for coffee, for a chat or just to listen. She knew that people were most important and lived each day remembering others. She loved Bob and her boys, Rob and Sean. When Rob married Janelle and Sean married Denise and blessed Liz with five grandchildren (Raeanne, Cole, Jessalyn and Bodey and Kai), her love just grew. She could never get enough of her children and grandchildren and always had crafts and projects on the go for them.
