Wayne Seymour Hicks July 17, 1950 - July 20, 2008 After a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the age of 58. Wayne goes off to heaven to join his dad, Tiny Hicks, His father in-law Brad Roberts and good friend Dave Killingbeck. Wayne will be sadly, yet lovingly missed by Dale, his adoring wife of 21 years. Dearest stepfather of Lyndsey Beitz and her husband Mike Sutton, Doug Beitz and his girlfriend Kelly Bosher. Loving and caring son of Marjorie Hicks and dear brother of Gary Hicks of Waterdown, and son-in-law of Bruce and Diane Filman of Burlington. From Baysville, he will be missed by his uncle and aunt, Ron & Sybil Hicks and his very close cousin Bob and Carol of Midland. Always joking around with his sisters and brother-in-laws, he will leave behind great memories with Laurie and George Kellam of Brockville, Jill and Glenn Bishop, Wendy and Barry Morrow, Scott andLaura Filman, Donna and Steve Filman, all of Burlington and Rick and Karen Filman of Grimsby. Nephews and nieces will always remember the uncle who spent many fun and crazy hours playing board games and cards. He will be missed by many other cousins and dear friends. Wayne worked at Gedas Motors for 25 years and will be missed by Gedas and Rose Paltarokas. Old cars, car shows, darts and his dog Pinkie were his favourite pastime. Cremation has taken place. Kolisnyk 2008-07-20 Mr. Michael Kolisnyk, age 95 years, a resident of Grandview Lodge, passed away peacefully in his 96th year on Friday, July 18, 2008. Mike was born in the village of Kolisneke near Nevichi and Brode, Ukraine on October 20, 1912. During the 2nd World War, he was taken by the German military to Austria and was required to work in farming communities as forced labour. There he met Kataryna Pryjda and married her in Villach, Austria, in 1947. Michael emigrated to Canada in 1948, working for the CPR in Hemlo, Ontario, until bringing over his wife and young son, Eugene. Shortly before moving to Fort William in 1950, his son Theodore was born. Mike worked at various jobs for the railway and Lakehead University, retiring in 1978. He was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage, and was a member of the Ukrainian-Canadian Social Services, Ukrainian Youth Association, the Ukrainian League of Liberation Choir, and the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration. During his lengthy years of retirement, he loved working in his garden, and being involved in various carpentry and woodworking projects of his own creation. Mike is survived by his wife Kataryna, sons Eugene (Marsha) and Theodore, grandchildren Andrew (Annette) of Calgary with daughter Avery, Kathie (Peter) Pender of Yellowknife with sons Hayden and Bryson, and Adam of Thunder Bay. Mike was predeceased by his father, Roman, mother, Kataryna, and 5 siblings, Peter, Marina, Michalina, Luke and Ivan, all in the Ukraine. Panachyda prayers will be offered on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. Funeral services for Michael will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 when family and friends will gather for Liturgy in the Church of the Transfiguration at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Vladimir Chvets. Interment will be held in the family plot in the Ukrainian Catholic cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the George Jeffrey Children‘s Treatment Centre or a charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Mr. Michael Kolisnyk in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 29, 2008.

Lean 2008-07-20 June 16, 1950 ~ July 17, 2008 Suddenly, at home on July 17, 2008 Wendy passed away at the age of 58, after a long and courageous battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. Wendy was predeceased by her parents Gerald and Sophie Melanson. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 25 years Arvo; sons Kevin (Andrea) Maggrah and Kendall (Michelle) Maggrah; daughter Kristine (Kevin) Courchaine; grandchildren Mason, Trinity, and Alexis; brother Craig (Connie) Melanson. Wendy will also be remembered by her extended family and friends. Wendy grew up in Savant Lake Ont. where she enjoyed the outdoors. Gardening, fishing, and snowmobiling were some of her favorite past times. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister who always put her family first. Due to her illness, in recent years she enjoyed her time on the computer keeping in touch with family and friends. Wendy loved and will be missed by her buddies Peanut and Boots. The family would like to thank Dr. Bshouty, Lynn, Claire, and all the staff of GH6 at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and kindness during her illness. Moses 2008-07-20 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clara Moses age 87 years of Pic River on July 17, 2008. Clara was a life long resident of Pic River having been born in Heron Bay on January 6, 1921. Through-out her life Clara was an avid trapper as well as fishing and she passed on her extensive knowledge to her children and their children so they would never go hungry. Clara loved spending time in the forest camping with her family and as well picking blue-berries. Clara had great faith in her cultures beliefs and was also a devout Roman Catholic, yet she respected all manners of peoples faiths. Clara volunteered in her community all her life, including fund raising to build the Church and also she worked tirelessly with youth groups and raised money for trips and programs. She was lovingly referred to by many young people as Granny. Clara had also become a respected Elder of her community.Clara was pre-deceased by her first husband, Abraham Legarde, her second husband, Antoine Moses, her son Raymond, father Louis Desmoulin, mother Isabell Twance, step-father Ernest Twance, father-in-law Peter Moses, mother-in-law Philmane Moses as well as thirteen brothers and sisters. Clara will be sadly missed by her children,Velda, Sally (Norman), Ranson (Jean / Beverly), Darlene (Edward(deceased), Lindsay (Pauline), Sheila (Dominique), Garland (Rose), Rapheal (Alice / Margaret), Martina (Dale) and Gulbert (Tricia). Clara will also be missed by one-hundred and nineteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In total five generations as well as her brother Steve Twance, sister Stella Desmoulin, brother-in-law Ronald Moses and a bunch of nieces and nephews will all lovingly remember Clara. Prayers will be offered for Clara at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Pic River First Nation on Monday July 21, 2008 and Tuesday July 22, 2008 both from 7:00 to 9:00pm. and a Resurrection Mass for Clara will begin at 11:00 am. on Wednesday July 23, 2008 also at St. Francis Xavier with interment to follow. Jessie was born on January 4, 1923 in Hague, SK. Besides her loving husband Bill, Jessie is also survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Steve Burynuik of Nanaimo, BC, Dorothy and Tom McLaughlin of Oliver, BC, and Bev Deets and Grant Regan of Abu Dhabi, UAE; and by her five grandchildren, Adrienne, Paul, Celeste, Liane, and Nicola. KANE, James (Jim) October 7, 1921 - July 18, 2008 Jim passed peacefully into paradise on Friday, July 18, 2008, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Drumheller, but grew up in Banff. He served in WWII with the Canadian Air Force as a bomber air frame mechanic stationed in England. Returning home, he settled in Calgary and after graduating from SAIT, he made his career as an auto body mechanic. In 1974, he married his "little sweetie", Shirley Graham, and together enjoyed thirty-four years of marriage. Jim was known for his quiet, gentle manner, humorous wit, giving heart and his tremendous love of God. Sadly missed, Jim is survived by his wife Shirley Kane, of Calgary, his sister, Jean Elliott, of Canmore, and multiple nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Jack, of Edmonton, Robert (Bob) of Golden, B.C. and sisters Dorothy McCurdy, of Peterborough, Ont. and Elizabeth (Bessie) Orr, of Peck Lake, Idaho. Claude Bérubé, of Hearst The funeral service for Hearst trucker Claude Bérubé, 46, is to be held Friday afternoon, July 11, 2008. He died July 5 at Sudbury Regional Hospital. Born Sept. 14, 1961 in Hearst and known by fellow truckers as ‘Barabas’ and for his sense of humor, he was an easy-going person and family man. He leaves his common-law wife Janice Lamha of Hearst, parents Irène and Rock Bérubé of Hearst, a daughter Angelie Bérubé and son Wayne, both of Hearst, sisters Lise (Raymond Lacroix) Bérubé of Hearst and Linda Bérubé of Ottawa, two stepchildren, three step grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Cremation took place prior to visitation Friday from 10 a. m. to noon at the Salon funéraire Lafrance Funeral Home. Rev. LINDEWALL, Veikko Veikko Lindewall passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2008 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. He is predeceased by his wife Eila of thirty-three years who passed away on August 9, 2000. He will be greatly missed by his son Jukka and family, and son Jari and family, and predeceased daughter Masi's family. Veikko will also be missed by the many friends who have come to love him through the years. Veikko began his life on April 16, 1936 and spent his early years in Lahti, Finland before coming to Canada. Veikko was always helpful to those in need, always offering support. His philosophy of life and very special sense of humour made our days brighter. He was highly respected by everyone who knew him. The Honourable Mr. Justice Paul Greer Marsh Hermiston November 3rd 1939-July 16th 2008 Paul in his 68th year, passed away peacefully at RVH with his family at his side on Wednesday July 16th. GILLESPIE, John (Jack) - On Friday July 18th, 2008, Jack Gillespie, 88 years of age. Beloved husband of Betty Gillespie for 62 years. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Bruce Astle and Jacquie Johnson. Jack was born in Ireland and came to Vancouver and Kimberly B.C., then to Niagara Falls in 1941. He served overseas in WWII with the B.C. Regiment D.C.O.R. and 6th Canadian Armoured Regiment (1St Hussars) in England and North Western Europe. After his return in December of 1945, he worked for Kimberly Clark for 13 years, and then for GM for 20 years, retiring as a Security Officer in 1985. Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 51 and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He continued his family's tradition with enthusiasm and commitment to the Beamsville Lawn Bowling Club. His career was spent with Grimsby Gas Company for 40 years as Foreman of Construction, where he enjoyed the terrific people he worked with.
