Elinor is survived by grandchildren, Steven and Dylan Avis and Matthew and Justin Mahood; sisters, Avila Tavener (Gordon), Gladys Curley (Eugene, deceased), Thelma Kelly (Merlin), Marlene Hughes (Raymond); brother, Edward Hughes and her sister-in-law, Joan Mahood. She was predeceased by her parents, Blanche and Seymour Hughes, and mother and father-in-law, Tom and Jean Mahood. ERNST, Emil. Passed away of heart failure at the Lakeshore General Hospital on March 19, 2008 in his seventy-seventh year. Predeceased by his parents Ferdinand and Marianne Ernst of Austria. Much loved father of Michael (Dorothy) of Townsend, Monica (Yvon) of Laval, Gabriella (Thomas) of Guelph and Christina (Bruno) of Kitchener. Treasured Opa of George, Yannick, Joseph and Natalie. He will be missed by the mother of his children, Herta Buerger, his brother Fred (Varick) of Vancouver and by his beloved friend and companion, Tina Schimmer whose love and support has been unfailing. Emil arrived from Austria in 1953 and embraced all of the opportunities this new country offered, raising a family and gaining respect of all who had the privilege of knowing him. A long-time Montreal businessman, Emil was valued and admired by his colleagues in the Volkswagen community. In recent years Emil turned his considerable energy and enthusiasm toward the Austrian Society of Montreal and was honoured to helm the society as its President. His passing leaves a great void. Emil lived large, laughed loud, seized the moment and savoured the days. MASCHKE, Pauline. Peacefully Pauline passed away on March 20, 2008, in her eighty-seventh year at the Good Samaritan in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Maschke. She leaves to cherish her memory and will be deeply missed by her brother Reginald (Ruth) Reed of Sherbrooke, Quebec and sister-in-law Donna (late Arthur) Reed of Peterborough, Ontario. She was predeceased by her sisters Gladys (Stanley) Thompson, Bernice and Reta Reed. She was also a much loved aunt and will be fondly remembered by Carol (Peter) Cross of Medicine Hat, David (Debbie) Reed of Peterborough, Ontario, Diane (Michael) Taylor and Richard (Judy) Reed all of Australia and Anne Reed of Toronto, Ontario. She was also a "special" great and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews. HART, MEGAN “Chickie“ - On Monday, March 25, 2008 in her 19th year with the same quiet dignity with which she lived her life. We are torn between the profound sadness that fills our hearts, and the overwhelming joy of knowing that her physical limitations have been cast aside and she will be dancing! Megan is the beloved daughter of John and Leanne Hart. Megan will be loved and remembered forever as the supportive big sister to Duncan, Drake, Davis and Mitchell. From the moment Megan was born she became a precious treasure to her grandma and grandpa Marg and John Hart and her Baba and Gigi Vernice and the late William Pelechaty. MONACO, Helen (Martino) - After a long and fulfilling life, Helen Monaco passed away at Oakwood Park Lodge, Niagara Falls on Monday, March 24, 2008 at the age of 89. She is reunited with her beloved husband Frank Monaco who passed in 1972. Dear sister of Katie Katrynuk. Remembered with love by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John Pahowski, and her sisters Mary Pankiw, Agnes Lakatos and Anne Lips. Helen was a faithful member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church for many years where she assisted in caring for the church and the parish hall, as well as performing her duties on the Altar Guild diligently. She was also a member and former Past President of the Catholic Women's League and an executive member of the Feast of the Assumption Committee. Helen contributed much to her community, having served as a board member of the Welland Heritage Council, a charter member of The Pilot's Association Service Club, secretary and Advisory Board member of the Rose City Seniors Centre, and a charter member of Regina Lodge, Chapter 20. LETCHER, Alonzo "Lonie" LETCHER, Alonzo "Lonie" - 90, Wentworth Valley, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lonie was full of music till the end. Born in Wentworth, he was a son of the late Richard and Ethel (Little) Letcher. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served overseas in England. Lonie was a "Music Man" consumed with old tunes and always playing his fiddle, accordion, and "his love" the saxophone. He also enjoyed volunteering with anything that had to do with music, playing or otherwise. For many years Lonie was familiar in Wentworth as a school bus driver. Lonie is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, the former Doris Jones; children, Karen Newcombe; Dianne Ring; Eddie Letcher; Peggy Patriquin; Shannon Letcher; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. HANLEY, Ellinor Martha HANLEY, Ellinor Martha - Age 65. What a loss to family and friends. Ellinor "Ellie" passed away too early, on March 23, 2008. Ellinor was the only child of the late Harry and Helen (Yeadon) Haakonsen and adopted daughter to the late Charles Stephenson, Helen's second husband. Ellinor attended Sister Pius and the Convent of the Sacred Heart Schools. Ellinor's wish to be a homemaker and good mother was easily attainable. She loved her job of 18 years at CFDR/Q104 Radio. She was also a strong support for the family business of Sackville Paint and Wallpaper. Ellinor married the lucky, Norman Hanley in 1966 and was the loving mother to Norman Jr. (Angela), Sackville; and Kelly Ann (Jason) Tittley, San Diego, Calif.; brother-in-law, Bill (Liga), Toronto, Ont.; grandchildren, James, Jessica, Liam, Charlie, Alana, Gracie, and Sheena. She will be sadly missed by all her lifelong friends and the girls at bowling, "Coffee Breakers". POIRIER, Donald Wilfred "Donnie" POIRIER, Donald Wilfred "Donnie" - Fall River and North Vancouver, B.C. Donnie died on February 20, 2008, two months after being blind-sided and then sucker-punched by cancer. He leaves behind Sue, his wife of three weeks; his mother, Muriel, Bedford; his sister, Irene (Richard) Cooper, Dartmouth, and sister-in-law, Gail Poirier, Fletcher's Lake; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur; brothers, Jimmy and Blair. He worked in fiberglass for 40 years, starting out building boats at Legay Fibreglass in Waverley. For the past five years he worked in high-rise construction in Vancouver, where he was proud to be working on the Olympic Village. He was a good darts, pool and snooker player. He liked traveling and last fall he and his nephew, James, went on a road trip, up from Saskatchewan, across the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and down through British Columbia. He could then say that he had drank in every province in Canada. He enjoyed going to the family cottage in New Brunswick. He never missed an opportunity to drink with a friend. He was a past member of the Waverley Legion and a present member of the North Vancouver Legion. He will be missed by his buddy from work, Brian; friends, Stan and Karen, Al and Marge, Robbie and June, and Miss Kitty. An Irish Wake will be held at the Waverley Legion, 2234 Rocky Lake Dr., Friday, March 28, at 7 p.m.

PURCELL, Frederick Joseph "Freddie" PURCELL, Frederick Joseph "Freddie" - 94, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008, peacefully at home with his family after a heartfelt battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John and Eva (Sullivan) Purcell. Freddie spent most of his working life in Halifax, with 45 years of service at the Department of Highways and was the recipient of the Queen's Silver Medal. Freddie was an vid car enthusiast, and had a real passion for tinkering with vehicles. He was devoted to his family and wife, particularly his three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth (Hennessey); daughter, Barbara Ann (Roderick) Perry; grandchildren, Nalani, Jennifer and Laura, and several nieces and nephews. MADORE, FRANK A. Frank A. Madore, age 96 formerly of Cape Road in Hollis, passed away on March 11, 2008 at the Gorham House. He was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on June 15, 1911, a child of Joseph and Mary (Parady) Madore. Frank attended schools in Fort Fairfield and went on to proudly serve his country by enlisting into the U.S. Army during WWII. While serving during the war, Frank was an Army mechanic. Following enlistment, Frank owned and operated Madore's Auto Service with his brother. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and had a love for being around his family. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mildred (Lovely) Madore, who passed away in 1989; and nine siblings. Frank is survived by a special niece, Dolored (Picky) Mills of Minto, NB; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins and close friends, Richard and Mary Cail of Portland. Visiting hours and the funeral service were held in Buxton, Maine near his former residence. Burial will be in the spring at Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Hollis, Maine. In lieu of flowers, Frank's wishes were to have memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 80 Pleasant Hill Road, Hollis, Maine 04042. March 26, 2008

ELLIOTT, PAULINE AMELDA The passing of Pauline Amelda Elliott of Fredericton, NB, wife of Norbert Elliott occurred on March 25, 2008 at the rDr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 22, 1924 in St. John's, NF, she was the daughter of the late Fed and Stella (Whitten) Brien. Pauline was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. She was a member of the Marysville Seniors Group. Pauline was a great story teller and is known for her local friendly fortune telling with tea leaves. Besides her husband, Pauline is survived by her daughter, Connie (Herman) Scholten; grandchildren, Leigh and Craig; great-granddaughter, Cassie; sisters, Eileen Sullivan of Winnipeg and Betty Kelly of St. John's, NF; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by sister, Stella Meadus; brothers, Fred, Frank, Pat, John and Hunter. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Marysville on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11am with Father Maurice Swift as celebrant. Pallbearers for the service are, Freddie White, Dale White, Maurice Richard, Fred Stewart, Carl Elliott and Brian Elliott. Interment will take place in Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
