BENOIT, Paul - (1924-2008). The family announces with sorrow his death in Sturgeon Falls, Monday March 17, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Son of the late Wilfrid and of the late Maria (née Aubry) Benoit. Loving husband of Antoinnette Benoit (née Bidal). Predeceased by his first wife Annette (née Limoges). Dear father of Raymond (Young Soon), René (Janice), Gilles, Louis (Aline) and Roland (Mary-Ann). Father to Hubert Gareau (Christine) and Monique Gareau (Pierre-Louis). Predeceased by his youngest son Rolland and by Antoinette's daughter Mariette. Survived by his two sisters Rollande Dennie and Fernande Nehr as well as by his brother Claude Benoit (Rita). Predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many dear friends had the pleasure of sharing his passion for fishing and hunting. Paul enjoyed life, laughter and he was a most entertaining storyteller. A proud veteran of World War Two, he was also a commercial fisherman on Lake Nipissing for several years and a successful entrepreneur. The family wishes to thank Dr. Katsuno and the staff at the West Nipissing General Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Benoit and his family. SORENSEN, CATHERINE CLAIRE - The death of Catherine Claire Sorensen occurred on Tuesday March 18, 2008 at her residence, the Kennebec Manor Nursing Home. Born 1916 in St. Martins she was the daughter of the late Roland and Louise (Kane) Graves. She is survived by her sons, Gary Burchill of Alberta and Philip Sorensen of Saint John; daughter, Nancy MacDonald (Jim) of Shanklin Settlement; six grandchildren, Karen, Jamie, Peter, Julia, Shaye and Janet; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by first husband, Thomas Burchill; second husband, Peter Sorensen; sisters, Hazel, Elsie, Jackie, Rachel and Marjorie. By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following cremation, a private family interment will take place in St. Martins at a later date. SCHLOSSER, JAMES CARSON - With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Carson Schlosser of Fredericton NB at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on March 20, 2008. Born in Springhill NS on June 3, 1939, he was a son of the late Jean and Ernest Schlosser. Jim is sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Florrie (McLean); his two children, and six grand-children; son, Dale (Carolyn) Schlosser and their children, Erin, Jillian, Matthew and J.J., of Toronto ON; daughter, Pamela (Dean) MacInnis and their children, Ally and Mia of Yellowknife, NWT; two sisters, Muriel (Stan) Latowski of Marquette MI, Arlene (Frank) Arsenault of Amherst NS, brother Blair Schlosser of Amherst NS; brother-in-law Walter (Donna) McLean of Fredericton NB, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces and later worked for the Department of Justice. He served with the First Battalion Black Watch, 2 RCR, 3 RCR, 2 Airborne Commando, Combat Arm School and retired as a Master Warrant Officer. In accordance with his wishes, Jim is being buried with his Blue Jays and Blackhawks caps. We hope they win the World Series and Stanley Cup in heaven! Resting at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr., Fredericton NB, visiting hours will be held at 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday March 23, 2008. ROBERT, Cecile Marie - My mother, Cecile Marie Robert, 75 years, moved from this plane of existence to the next on March 6th. Born and raised in the Sudbury area, she worked for many years at Lapalme Wholesale, Loeb Wholesale and the Sudbury Public School Board as a secretary / receptionist. She was the only child of Hector and Genevieve St. Germain, my grandparents. She leaves behind my brother Guy, (wife Anne), grandchildren, Robert, Daniel, Genevieve and Kirk and husband Ivan. My mother enjoyed reading, laughing, singing and dancing and loved to give the ok sign in her own little way. During her last few years, she was cared by Lise, her respite worker, Darlene her personal support worker, and most recently by a team of caring and loving professionals at the Extendicare Falconbridge. Our family would like to thank everyone who was present in my mom's last few days. She received excellent care and treatment and so did our family. It is with sincere appreciation and gratitude that we thank everyone who was a part of her life. For everyone who walked with her gave her a bit more courage to continue on. The family will have a mass in her honor at St. Jean de Brebeuf church followed by a celebration of her life on April 30th, my mother's birthday. Margaret Enid Adams, R.N. 1914 - 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Enid Adams, formerly of Campbellton, NB at her residence in Riverview, NB in her 94th year on Wednesday March 19th, 2008. Born on October 6th, 1914 she was the youngest daughter of the late C.W. and Margaret (Cook) Beaton. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Barbara (Lester) Elliott of Moncton, NB and cherished granddaughter, Kristy Elliott of Toronto ON. Besides her parents, Enid was predeceased by three sisters, Annie Beaton, Isabel MacPherson and Gladys Lockhart. As a registered nurse, at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Campbellton, NB, Enid will be remembered for the kindness and care given to others throughout her life. The family would like to thank the staff of the third floor Royal Court Parkland Estates for the care and compassion given to Enid throughout her illness. BELLAIRE, Jerry (Gerald) - Passed away, suddenly at home, Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the age of 57. Jerry was the beloved husband of Doreen Bellaire (née Stevens) and loved father of Jennifer Valley (Cliff), Jody Cotter (Jim) and Buck Bellaire. He will be lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Jonah and Sabrina Valley and Jack and Maddison Cotter. Dear brother of Réjeanne Fauvel (André), Jocelyne Birtch (Ron), Pauline Daley (René), Aurel , Paul (Pauline-deceased), Yvon (Romona), Richard (Chris) and Ron (Christine). Predeceased by his parents, Blanche (née Boyer) and Ernest Bellaire, one brother, Ernest and one sister, Blanche (Boyer) Bellaire. Jerry was a plant service manager with Northeast Mental Health Centre. He loved fishing, hunting, travelling, carpentry and shopping. He was a member of Meti Nation of Ontario. SIMPSON, Lydia R. - A resident of Mitchell's Bay, Lydia Simpson passed away Wednesday March 19, 2008 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Chatham Campus with her family by her side at the age of 59. Born in Hannover, Germany and immigrated with her family to Wallaceburg in 1960. Loving daughter of the late Willi Paetzmann and Margarete Schwarze. Beloved wife of the late David Simpson (April 20, 2000). Dear mother and mother- in-law of Susan and David of Limehouse, Greg and Jennifer; Bruce and Diane all of Toronto, Tony of Huntsville and Chris of Chatham. ROSS, Ina Roberta (nee Carr) - In loving memory of Ina Roberta Ross (nee Carr), 94 years young, who passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Site. Ina was born in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan on July 18, 1913 to Archie and Lena Carr, Graduate of the Royal Alexandra Hospital (Edmonton) School of Nursing in 1938. Meeting the man of her dreams soon upon graduating, Ina and William “Bill“ Ross wed in 1939 in Edmonton, soon moving to Sudbury to build their lives together. Bill (predeceased 1970) would have been proud of Ina. During her years in Sudbury, Ina was a nurse at the “old“ St. Joseph's Hospital, was involved with the family business (ACME Printers), raised a wonderful son, Gary William Ross (predeceased 1995) and was actively involved in the life of her only granddaughter, Katherine Ross, husband Patrick Essaye and her great granddaughter, Lauren. Ina was involved in many social circles. She was an active member of the Know Presbyterian Church (on Larch St.) and several Bridge Clubs. Ina touched the lives surrounding her. Her thirst for literature often kept her up into the wee hours reading her favourite novel. When not playing bridge or reading, Ina will always be known for her humor, story telling, journaling and ability to bake the perfect scone. Ina leaves behind and will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy (nee Larson) Ross of Toronto, her granddaughter Katherine Ross, husband Patrick Essaye and great granddaughter Lauren Essaye, all of Toronto, her niece Sharon Borley and her family of Winnipeg, the Larson Family of Sudbury, her god-daughter Trish Morgan of Nepean and the extended Ross/Carr clan in the West Cost. MELTZER, MENDLE MARTIN - Peacefully on Saturday March 15th at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's our husband, father and grandfather Mendle Martin Meltzer formerly of Saint John passed away at the age of 86. Mel is survived by his wife of 63 years Marcia; his sister, Lillian Goldstein (Saint. John NB); his children, Chuck (Juanita), Marvin (Ruth) and Sheila (Arthur) and his grandchildren, Brent, David, Steven, Randi, Nina, Jacqui, Aaren and Alex all of Winnipeg. Mel was born in Saint John, NB on November 6th, 1921, the youngest of 5 siblings. He received his bachelor's degree from Mount Allison University where he lettered in Basketball, acted and sang on stage and radio and played the clarinet in his own Big Band called Meltzer's Marauders. He obtained his Law Degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1948. He was married to Marcia on December 30 1945 and in 1949 they moved to Winnipeg where Mel began his law practice. In April 2000 he was honoured by the Law Society of Manitoba for his 50 years of stellar principled practice. Mel was a true inspiration to anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. He will always remain a guiding light for his children and especially to his grandchildren who he adored so greatly and who equally adored him. Funeral Services were held Tuesday March 18th in Winnipeg. March 22, 2008

MACDONALD, Hugh 1925 - 2008 Passed away Saturday, March 8 in Victoria, B.C. Survived by his wife, partner, and love of his life, Joan Scharf, and his five children: Eric (Linda), Ian, Doug, Heather (Paul), and Robb, four step-children: Diane (David), Cathy (Michael), Rick (Adele), Michael, and seven grandchildren: Shawn, Kyle, Zachary, Garrett, Yanik, Brianne, and Christopher. Predeceased his first wife, Norma (lovingly remembered), the mother of his five children. They first met when they were both working at the main branch of the Royal Bank in Moncton, NB, in 1953. Born in Toronto, March 26, 1925, brought up mostly in Ottawa, but moved more than 50 times (excluding war service), from Halifax to Prince Rupert and Victoria, and several points in between, including fond memories of living in Wakefield from 1971-1977. Served as a staff pilot in the RCAF, 1942-1945. Graduated from the University of Toronto, Victoria College, and the Society of Industrial Accountants of BC (RIA). Worked for the Royal Bank (Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton), Industrial Acceptance Corp., Alberta Treasury Branch, Husky Oil, Lewis Stationery Co., and the federal Government. (Transport Canada and, the final 20 years, to 1985, the Canadian Coast Guard). Enjoyed all sports from an early age, especially tennis and skiing. Won many athletic awards in Public (Elementary) and High School, and a few after that. Thanks to Dr. Gordon Wilson for many years of care, and, more recently to Dr. Jacob Duvenage and Dr. Catherine Fitzgerald for care and advice, and maintaining "quality of life" at as high a level as possible. No flowers by request. Any memorial donations may be made to the Des Collines Health Foundation for the Wakefield Memorial Hospital the Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation. Born in Chapleau, Ontario, March 21, 1928. Mervyn was a school teacher for many years before becoming a Registered Nurse, working in Canada and parts of the United States, until retiring. LA FAMILLE GAUVREAU a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de MME YVETTE GAUVREAU née Wooden décédée le 18 mars 2008 à l'hôpital de Hull, à l'âge de 71 ans. Elle était l'épouse de Roger Gauvreau et la fille de feu William Wooden et de feu Annie-May Henley. Prédécédée par sa fille Carole, elle laisse dans le deuil son époux ainsi que ses 2 fils: Robert et André (Thérèse Ladouceur). Elle laisse également ses 2 soeurs: Alice (Raoul St-Arnaud) et Agathe (Paul Huneault) ainsi qu'une belle-soeur, Yvonne Beauparlant et plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousin(e)s et ami(e)s. Il n'y aura pas de visites à la maison funéraire. Le service religieux en présence des cendres aura lieu le mercredi 26 mars 2008 à 11h, en la paroisse St-Joseph sise au 245 boul. St-Joseph à Gatineau (secteur Hull). La famille recevra les condoléances à l'église à compter de 10h30. Pour ceux qui le désirent, des dons à la Fondation des maladies du coeur seraient appréciés. LA FAMILLE LACHAPELLE a le regret de vous annoncer le décès de M. GERARD LACHAPELLE décédé le 20 mars 2008, à l'âge de 75 ans. Il était le fils de feu Léopold Lachapelle et de feu Valentine Charette. Il laisse dans le deuil son neveu Bern (Sylvie Lacelle); ses nièces: Suzanne (Jean-Louis Brûlé) et Claudette. Il était le grand-oncle de Jean-Philippe, Josiane, Annick, Vanessa, Karolane et Annie-Pier. Il laisse également de nombreux ami(e)s. Il fut prédécédé par son cher frère Tom; sa dévouée belle-soeur Claire et son amie de coeur Evelyne. Il repose au : FUNÉRARIUM BEAUCHAMP Réseau Dignité 105, boul.
