GURSOZ Mme Ayter 1935-2008 Paisiblement, suite à un long et courageux combat contre le cancer des poumons, au CHSLC de Bedford, le 22 février 2008, à l'âge de 72 ans, est décédée Mme Ayter Gursoz. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa fille Irem Bekter et sa petite-fille Bianca Maidana. On se souviendra d'elle, pour son talent de peintre de renommée international, qui résidait dans la région des Cantons de l'Est depuis 1995. Dans chacun de nous, elle a laissé quelque chose de merveilleux, tout comme la beauté de ses tableaux. Elle va nous manquer à tous. BUNGAY, Norman "Gerald" BUNGAY, Norman "Gerald" - 80, Kingston, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008, at home. Born in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late William Thomas and Edwina Josephine (Strickland) Bungay. Gerald graduated from the Sydney Academy, served with the American Army in Japan for two years, and graduated from the Bentley College of Accounting and Finance in 1951. He was an accountant with Thompson & Sutherland, North Sydney and New Glasgow; Howden & Parson Construction, Dartmouth, and accountant and office manager for O.H. Armstrong, Kingston, until his retirement in 1992. Gerald was a past member, elder and president of the United Church Men's Club in New Glasgow, past member Kingston Lions Club, past treasurer and elder of Kingston United Church. His hobbies were round and square dancing, and he was a member of three square dance clubs. He loved skating, dancing, hockey, air plane modeling was a real love of his, soft ball, swimming, reading, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Hicks; sons, Philip (Debbie), Shad Bay; Bill, Stewiacke; Richard (Tracey), Ottawa, Ont.; grandchildren, Ashlea and Christopher, Shad Bay; Olivia and Victoria, Ottawa, Ont.; brother, Calvin (Annabell), Dartmouth. Cremation has taken place. By request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in Kingston United Church, Rev. Michael Mugford officiating. MacNEIL, Ann Jean MacNEIL, Ann Jean - 76, Lower Road, Pictou Landing, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008, in Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Newtown, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Catherine (Whidden) MacLean. She ran the Lobster Bar in Pictou Landing for 22 years; was a cashier with Sobeys and worked for a short time with Michelin. She was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29. She is survived by her husband, Donnie; sons, Cartie (Shannon), Lourdes; Shane (Susan), Lyons Brook; Bill (Brenda), Hazel Glen; grandchildren, Ryan, Candice, Chelsea, Megan, Amie, Nicholas, Cole, and Taylor; sister, Wilena Johnson, Truro; brothers, Bert (Wilma), Stellarton; Percy (Theresa), Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Tomlinson; sister, Agnes. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. YOUNG, Judee Charmaine YOUNG, Judee Charmaine - RN, April 4, 1960 - February 27, 2008. It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Judee Charmaine Young. Judee was born in St. Boniface, Man., and she was the daughter of Rod Jesty, North Sydney, and the late Joan and Ernie Brown, her stepfather. Judee was a registered nurse who worked for 20 years, most recently as a Pain Management Nurse at the Dickson Building at the VG Site, QEII. She also was a leader of the 4th Sackville Beavers for two years. Judee was endeared and truly respected by her close fellow workers of nurses and doctors at the Pain Management Clinic. She was a very loving and giving person who always put others first. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and co-workers. Judee is survived by her best friend and loving husband, George, and their precious son, Michael Thomas. She is also survived by brother and sisters-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Margaret Ann “Annie“ Freeman The funeral for Margaret Ann “Annie“ Freeman was held on August 13, 2007, who passed away at Quinte Healthcare, Belleville on August 9, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Father Charles McDermott and Father Bernard O'Neil concelebrated the funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary Church, Marysville. Annie is survived by children Frank of Belleville, Edward (Monica) of Oshawa, Sharon McComber of Napanee, Rose Marie (Dale) Brown of St. Catharines, Duane (Donna) of Kitchener, Lois Farrell (Ron Hebden) of Belleville, Mary (Tom) Cassidy of Tweed, Jeanne (Barry) Manlow of Belleville, and Gerard (Beverly) Freeman of Belleville. Loving grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 36 great- grandchildren. Survived by sister Mary McDermott (who has since passed on November 2007), sister-in- law Marie Coad of Lindsay. Predeceased by husband Bernard Freeman November 2006, parents Henry and Agnes (O'Sullivan) McWilliams. Annie was a women of strong faith, who instilled many values in her family. She enjoyed playing eucher, quilting, gardening, and cooking. She was happiest when the family gathered at the farm, enjoying the company of her children and grandchildren, and friends. Annie belonged to the Marysville CWL for over 65 years, and the Lonsdale WI for many years. Both organizations benefited from her many skills, selling tickets, serving at luncheons and bazaars. ARCHER, Edward Andrew “Pete“ - October 20, 1916 - February 28, 2008, passed away peacefully in Tilbury at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband of 62 years to Mavis (Cowley). After serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, Mr. Archer became Tilbury's Jeweller for more than fifty years and served on the Canadian Jewellers Association board of directors during his career. MARYSCHAK, Peter - In loving memory of Peter Maryschak, 88 years, of Azilda, who passed away Thursday, February 28th, 2008 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. He was born in Fort William and married Annie (Bobiy) in Levack in 1947. Peter came to the Sudbury area in 1941 from Thunder Bay. He was a miner at Levack Mine having 39 years at INCO, retiring in 1982. In his younger years he had coached and served on the executive of the Levack Minor Hockey League. He had a great affinity and appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and he enjoyed feeding the birds. A happy go lucky person, Peter will be remembered for his wonderful sense which he generously shared with his loving family and friends. Beloved husband of Annie (Bobiy) Maryschak of Azilda. Loving father of Rose- Marie of Sault-Ste-Marie, Peter Jr. (wife Angie) of Chatham and Kathy (husband Brian Lapierre) of Sault-Ste-Marie. KLEIMAKER, A.E. “Tony“ - At the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Friday, February 29, 2008. Tony was the beloved husband of Ilse Hey for 56 years, he was in his 91st year. Loving father of Viola Burke (Lloyd) and Michael Kleimaker (Margaret) both of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughter Natalie Burke (Neal) and by his grandsons Shawn Kleimaker (Leyna) and Stephan Kleimaker and their mother Jan. MacKENZIE, JOHN EDWARD - The death of John Edward MacKenzie occurred on February 26, 2008, at his residence in Courtenay, BC after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Saint John, NB, on September 8, 1944 and spent his early years in the south end of the city. He graduated from Simonds High School as Valedictorian before pursing his 26-year career in the Canadian Air Force. John actually acquired a pilot's license before his driver's license. After retiring from the forces, John settled in Salina, NB, where he built a beautiful log home and started a new career as a business owner. He owned Atlantic Images in Quispamsis and Millfield Framing and Fine Art in Market Square, where he could be found with his Public Relations specialist, Penny (his beloved spaniel/poodle mix). John is survived by his wife, Rosemarie (Stephan) MacKenzie of Courtenay, BC; two sons, Jason MacKenzie, Comox, BC, Chris (Natalie) MacKenzie, Saint John, NB; one daughter, April MacKenzie, Vancouver, BC; and one grandson, Ross John MacKenzie of Saint John, NB. LOWE, ARTHUR - At the Charlotte County Hospital, on Wednesday, February, 27th, 2008; Robert Arthur Lowe of Chipman Apts, St. Stephen, NB, husband of the late Thelma Bernice (Moffatt) Lowe. Born in St. Stephen, NB he is the son of the late George William & Edith Mae (Polley) Lowe. Arthur had worked for the St. Stephen Woodworking Manufacturers. He was an avid hockey and baseball player. He played in the St. Stephen Old Timers League and played the sport up until the age of 72. In that 72nd year he played 72 times. The number on his jersey always reflected his age. He was a member of the NB Sports Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 1971, as part of the St. Stephen St. Croix Milltown Baseball Team (1931-1939). As a loving father and grandfather he always attended every game in which his children and grandchildren were involved. He served as coach of the St. Stephen Aces Hockey Team that won the Intermediate C New Brunswick Hockey Championship, 1693. Art was a faithful Rotarian for 53 years serving the St. Stephen Milltown Rotary Club. He was a Paul Harris Recipient, with a record of 100% attendance. He served on St. Stephen Town Council as well as the local school board. He was a member of the St. Stephen Presbyterian Church serving as Elder for many years. Arthur is survived by his three daughters Judith Wilson (Rod) of Fredericton, Sharon Fowler (Eugene) of Fredericton, NB, Linda Lowe of St. Stephen, six grandchildren, Rodney (Amanda) Wilson, Derek Wilson (Tammy Price), Dr. Robert Fowler (Dr. Eva Shimaoka), Angela Fowler (Ben Kennedy), Trevor Perry (Dr. Stephanie Perry), Krista Amos(Kris), five great grandchildren, Jackson & Marcus Wilson, Matthew Fowler, Olivia & Avery Amos. CROWLEY, DOREEN A. J. - The death of Doreen A. J. Crowley occurred at her residence, Charlton Place, on Friday, February 29, 2008. Miss Crowley was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late LeBlanc and Ella (Williams) Crowley. She had been employed as a secretary. As was her style, Doreen maintained her sense of humour right to the end. She had a special love of cats and they were with her when she died... Mildred L. Lutes Mildred L. Lutes 89, of Riverview and formerly of Lutes Mountain, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, February 29, 2008. Born in Stilesville, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Emma (Rogers) Briggs. Mildred was a former clerk at KMart, a member of Mountain View United Church, the U.C.W. Deborah Unit within the church and the I.O.D.E. Mary Crisp Chapter. Mildred loved reading, snowmobiling, crocheting, camping; however, her love for her family and friends always came first. Mildred will be sadly missed by her daughter, Janice Smith (Jim), Riverview; son, Reg Lutes (Marg), Church's Corner; grandchildren, Kelli Doncaster (Ted), Gina Hubert (Mark), Brent Lutes (Janet), Tamara Smith (Kendall), Trina Vautour (Eric), Tracy Henderson (Brad); 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Hazel M. Hudson 1925-2008 The death of Hazel M. Hudson of Royal Court, Riverview, NB and formerly of Moncton, wife of the late G. Ernest Hudson, occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, February 28, 2008. Born in Mickleover, Derbyshire, England on May 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alfred A. and Emily (Hallam) Nix. A veteran of the Second World War, She served with The Women's Royal Navy Service until 1945. After immigrating to Canada with her husband in 1951, she was employed with Blue Cross, Simpson Sears, and she retired with many years service from CFB Moncton. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch #6, and The Air Force Veterans Club, a former member of the 31 Club, the Citation Indians Trailer Club and the NB Ballroom Dancing Association. Hazel will be sadly missed by her son, Robert and his wife, Charlene; grandson, Derrick of Moncton; a sister Marjorie Goodall, of Llandovery, Wales; 2 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Nix of Chiliwack, BC and Marjorie Nix of Leamington Spa, England, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Hazel was predeceased by her Stepmother, Florrie Nix; a sister, Edna Nix, and brothers, Edmond, Gordon and Maurice Nix. Robert "Bud" Doncaster SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Robert "Bud" Doncaster, 76, occurred suddenly at the Moncton City Hospital on Friday, February 29, 2008. Born in Sackville, he was the son of the late Frederick and Pauline (Lawrence) Doncaster. An active community member, Bud was a life-long farmer known especially for his Antique Farm Field Day open to everyone during the Sackville Fall Fair. He loved restoring and showing antique farm machinery. Bud was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. Bud will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Florence (Wheaton); three sons, Daniel (Ann) of Sackville and Brian (Marlene), of Sackville, Frederick (Kelli) of Grand Bay-Westfield; four daughters, Debbie (Malcolm) Fisher and Angela (Gordon) Carlisle, both of Sackville, Kimberly (Stephen) Bowes of Shediac, and Krista (Brad) Schmidt of Maple Ridge, BC; two brothers, Donald (Janet) of TN and Bliss (Edith) of Sackville; three sisters, Anna Mason of Louisiana, Joyce Wakefield, ON, Amy Weaver, IL; nineteen grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Robert "Bud" Doherty 1917-2008 Sackville, N.B.- Robert "Bud" Doherty, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Drew Nursing Home, with Bruce and Cheryl by his side. Bud was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Fairfield, N.B. on October 16, 1917, he was the son of the late Robert and Estella (Crossman) Doherty. Bud was a member of Brotherhood at Main Street Baptist Church and was an usher there for many years. He was employed at Enterprise Foundry for forty-four years, until his retirement in 1982. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his son, Bruce (Cheryl) of Moncton, NB; three grandchildren, Jeff, Shelley and Tammy; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tara, Treika and Casi-Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne in 2003; daughter, Merla Ayer in 2005; two sisters, Norma Cole and Ruby Steeves; and three brothers, Ronald, Willie and Norman. STEVENSON, WILLIAM HENRY William Henry Stevenson of Tracyville and formerly of Ile Perrot, Quebec passed away at White Rapids Manor on February 28th, 2008 at the age of 93. HILL, VIVIAN HAZEL Vivian H. (Jones) Hill of Howland Ridge, NB passed away February 28, 2008 at Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville, NB. Born at Upper Hainesville in 1924, she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Cledia B. (Hoyt) Jones. Vivian was an Auxiliary member of the RCL Millville Branch # 59. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and was a very competitive dart player. WALSH, JAMES ALFRED - The passing of James Alfred Walsh of Saint John, husband of Dorothy Agnus (Campbell) Walsh, occurred on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at his home. Born on June 24, 1927 in Manchester, England, he was the son of the late Patrick and Martha (Congelton) Walsh. In his early years, he sailed with the merchant marine and later settled in Saint John with his loving wife and two children. He then went to work at Moosehead Breweries, Saint John Fire Dept., City Hall, Irving Oil, Retiring from Public Works Canada of District Head of Maintenance, NB. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy spending time with his grandchildren, his pride and joy. Jim is survived by one son, James A. Walsh Jr. (Kelly) of Quispamsis; and one daughter, Kathie Horgan (John) of Saint John; his grandchildren, Jamie and Jacob Walsh, and Shawn, Edward, Ross, and his only granddaughter, Jill Horgan. Also survived by his sister, Joan (Roy) Howard of Blackpool, England; and sister-in-law, Susan Walsh (predeceased by brother, Charles) and families in Manchester. HORGAN, JAMES K. - The death of James K. Horgan of occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 28th, 2008, following a brief illness. Jim was born in Saint John, a son of the late Kenneth G. and C. Angeline (Lynch) Horgan. He was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and the University of Windsor. He had been a psychologist at the Shaughnessy Hospital in Vancouver and at Centracare in Saint John until his retirement. He had also taught courses at U.N.B.S.J. Jim loved the Irving Nature Park and his home. He was known for his sense of humour. He is survived by his brother, Frederick G. (Barbara) of Saint John; one nephew, Lee Horgan of Saint John; and three nieces, Kim, Cheryl and Michelle Horgan, all of Saint John.
