Grenier Émile 1928 - 2007 C’est avec tristesse que nous désirons vous faire part du décès de monsieur Émile Grenier, époux de dame Rita Sylvain, à l’Hôpital Laval, le 19 décembre 2007. Né à Neuville le 10 février 1928, il était le fils de feu monsieur Louis-Philippe Grenier et de feu dame Alice La Rue. Il laisse dans le deuil, ses quatre enfants: Pierre (décédé le 31 août 1973), Marc (son épouse Susan Hutt), Yves et Claire; ses petits-enfants qu’il adorait et qui le lui rendaient pleinement: Émilie, Arielle, Meggie, Alicia, Denis, Rosemarie et Victoria; son frère Dr Jacques (feu Michelle Colette, Marie Pellerin); sa sœur Lise (Alain Guenou); ses beaux-frères et belles-sœurs: Sr Jeannine Sylvain, Yvette (Léon Gignac), Pierrette (feu Raymond Marois), feu Suzanne (feu Adrien Lapointe), Raymonde (Gilles Couture), Louisette (André Coulombe); ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines. Il manquera sûrement à ses nombreux amis tant à Québec que tout au long du Richelieu et à Montréal. Le service religieux sera célébré le samedi 22 décembre 2007 à 14h, en l’église St-Dominique, 175, Grande Allée Ouest, Québec. BRENNAN, Michael Joseph May 6, 1923 - December 19, 2007 Michael Joseph Brennan lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on the afternoon of December 19, 2007 under the gentle care of Unit 36 Special Services staff at the Foothills Medical Center. Mike was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 1999 and will be sadly missed by his daughter Diane Ellingson (Everett) and four sons Michael (Janet), Gregory (Sonia), Bruce (Patty) and Craig. He had a very special place in the hearts of his ten grandchildren Cara Lee, Joelle, Scott, Matthew, Elizabeth, Andrew, Margaret, Spencer, Shelby and Mitchell. Born in Eston, Saskatchewan, he was very much shaped by the Depression and war time period during which he was raised. Mike was very hard working as a youth and was active in sports in the Rosetown and Eston school districts. During WWII he proudly served his country in the Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945 ending the war as Lieutenant and Navigator aboard the HMCS Oshawa, active in the North Atlantic. After marrying Betty in Saskatoon, they moved to Calgary then Lethbridge in 1950 where the family lived for twenty-two years. As an involved parent raising five children in Lethbridge, Mike coached his children in sports, and later became involved with the Special Olympics and Parkinson's Society in Calgary. Mike ended his working life as an Industrial Developer in the Federal Government. He was well read and remembered for his ability to recount most of the facts in the many books he read. In his retirement he took terrific enjoyment from his gardening and helping his children with their projects as they raised their own families and his grandchildren. Mike was also well known in his neighbourhood as the fund-raiser for charities. He is survived by his sister Beatrice Turcotte (Paul) in Saskatoon. A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . BRADLEY, Burnon (Bunny) - Suddenly taken from us on Friday Dec.14, 2007, the late Burnon Thomas James Bradley, 62 years, of Birmingham, England and recently of Campbellford Ontario, Canada. Loving son of Grace & Walter Cook, life partner of Karen Sinclair of Campbellford, father of Nicola Jackson of Oshawa, grandfather to Jake, Kate and Hailey. After graduating with honours from Aston University, U.K. in 1965 as an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, Burnon was recruited by O & W Electronics of Toronto as Engineering Manager for the construction of electrical aircraft panels (1975-1987). After O & W, he worked as Prototype Production Manager for Ross Video Equipment in Iroquois, Ontario. After leaving Ross in '92 he began his career in graphic arts while General Manager for Corporate Signs of Richmond Hill. In '95 Burnon moved to Custom Signs in Concord, and finally, in '98 he started his own company Sign Design and Manufacturing in the beaches area of Toronto. You can still see his signs all over the city. Bunny retired in 2002 travelling slowly by Jeep to Atenas, Costa Rica where he resided until his return to Canada last year. He was a computer whiz, a talented graphic artist, a certified divemaster, former rock climber/mountaineer, and private pilot who for years owned his own plane. He had great technical expertise, and possessed a singular, dry, English wit. Heartfelt thanks to the paramedics and emergency room nurses, to Drs. Parson-Sheldrake and Bartlett of C'Ford Memorial and Dr. Bishop and nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Peterborough General for the excellent care they gave Burnon - also to Andrea, Sue, Gail & Bob. McNEELY, Lonny "Goose" Town of Carleton Place Public Works Peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Carleton Place Hospital, on Thursday December 20, 2007 at the age of 42. Lonny was a devoted father to Dylan and Hunter. A great friend to his step-daughter Brittany. A loving son, brother, uncle and dear friend of many. He gave us such great strength through his everlasting smile and his joking way near the end. He will be missed by many. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Civic Campus and the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, and the Carleton Place Hospital. Also thank you to everyone for their kindness and support. He fought such a courageous battle. At Lonny's request there will be no visitation. DE SOMMA, Mario May 21, 1914 - December 20, 2007 Mario De Somma of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the age of 93. Mario was born in Monteforte Irpino, Avellino, Italy. World events compelled him to spent much of his younger adult life - nearly eleven years - serving in the Italian Army in North and East Africa, and in Italy. With characteristically indomitable spirited optimism, he persevered the dire economic conditions prevalent in Southern Italy. On April 6, 1967, at the age of fifty-three he immigrated with his wife Emilia to Canada. Most of his working years were spent with the City of Calgary Parks Department. "O' Commendatore", as Mario was widely and affectionately addressed, thrived on the constant "chiaccherate" (chats) with "paesani" or anyone else willing to engage. The gift of a lucid memory made Mario a repository of dates and events. The penchant for colourful and dramatic oratory made him a communicator of some renown. Language was no barrier: even non-Italian speakers seemed to connect with and appreciate his English-infused Italian. Mario religiously kept alive the customs, traditions and cultural heritage of his native land to the very end of his life which he was fortunate to live out in his own house. Innately gregarious, genuinely hospitable, generous to family and friends, Mario, together with Emilia, created a loving home and passed on a legacy of doing what is just, what is fair and doing it with unflinching integrity. Mario is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Antonio and Mery (nee De Iure), and Luigi and Joyce (nee Torjan), all of Calgary, four granddaughters, Emilia, Silvia, Elisea, and Maria-Giovanna. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Luisa Fusco and Maria Lombardo (nee Fusco), both of Calgary, brother-in-law, Angelo Fusco of Milan, Italy, sister-in-law Filomena Fusco (nee Valentino) of Portici, Italy, a nephew Antonio (Jackie) Lombardo, nieces Emilia Lombardo and Elisabetta (Fioravante) Buonasorte, all of Calgary, and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy and the USA. He was predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Elisabetta (nee De Sapio), and all his siblings: Carolina, Maria (Sabato Fusco), Onofrio, Antonio (Pasqualina), Onofrio and Luisa. JAMES, Gordon Arthur March 19, 1920 - December 18, 2007 Gordon peacefully left this world December 18, 2007 in Calgary at the age of 87 years. Gordon was an avid golfer and played for many years at Shaganappi Point. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, his sons Rodney and Reg (Cherrie), daughter Pamela (John) and their immediate families. Sr Isabelle Morneault Mise à jour le vendredi 21 décembre 2007 Par: AP f.m.a. (Marie Saint-Victor) - Au pavillon Edmée-Martin de Campbellton, le jeudi 20 décembre 2007, à l’âge de 94 ans et 4 mois et dans sa 70e année de profession religieuse, est décédée Sr Isabelle Morneault. Elle était fille de feu J. Victor Morneault de Baker Brook et de feu Julie Nadeau de Clair. Outre sa famille religieuse, elle laisse dans le deuil une demi-soeur, Bernadette (Conrad) Rémillard; un demi-frère, Yvon Morneault, ainsi que quelques nièces. Sr Isabelle a été précédée dans la tombe par un frère, Sylvio, ainsi que quatre soeurs: Irène, Yvonne, Sr Anita, f.d.l.s. et Marie-Anne. Sr Isabelle a été, tout au long de sa vie, une "aidante". Elle a servi comme cuisinière, portière et buandière dans les maisons de la congrégation. Pendant une dizaine d’années, elle a également été au service des prêtres. En tant qu’infirmière auxiliaire, elle a servi pendant 10 ans à l’Hôtel-Dieu de Campbellton et à la maison mère de la congrégation. C’est le 7 janvier 1999 qu’elle s’est retirée au Pavillon Edmée-Martin, infirmerie de l’Institut. Elle y a vécu dans le recueillement et le silence. La dépouille mortelle sera exposée le vendredi 21 décembre, de 9h à midi, à la Première chapelle de la maison mère des Filles de Marie-de-l’Assomption, 2, rue Arran, à Campbellton. Elle sera également exposée de 13h à 13h50, en l’église Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, où seront célébrées ses funérailles à 14h. WALKER, Margaret Jean (Nee - Stephenson) - Of Carrying Place passed away after a long struggle with Cancer at Trenton Memorial Hospital on the 19th December in her 73rd year of life. She initially fought and won over this disease through shear grit and determination and with the will to survive. The Cancer however returned with a vengeance and claimed her life. Daughter of the late Christopher and 'Cis' Stephenson. Loving mother to Judith Quante & her husband Hans, Margaret Walker, Chris Walker & his wife Kathy, Lorraine Fortin & her husband Pierre and Frank Walker & his wife Margaret. Dear sister to Christopher George Stephenson. Her family and friends will sadly miss Margaret, and her huge extended family will miss Grandma Marg.
