KENNEDY, John - Passed away suddenly as a result of an illness at his residence in North Bay, Friday, January 27, 2006 at the age of 41. DICK, Edwin, 1928 - 2006 - With sorrow, we wish to advise the passing of Ed on Sunday January 29, 2006 in North Bay., Ed was an avid curler and serious golfer with an eight-ender and two holes in one to his credit. He was a quiet and unassuming gentleman who was loved by all those who knew him. He was the loving companion of Mary Pinkney (deceased) and a father figure to Linda and Andre Bedard, Gerry and Terry Pinkney and June Pigeau, and a grandfather figure to Robb Bedard, Tracy Pinkney and Lorne and Kelly Pigeau. Ed is survived by his brother Walter (Gladys), Harry (Shirley), John (Nancy), Herb (Gloria) and his sisters Eleanor (Fred) Rietze, Evelyn and Margaret (Jim) Dyck. Ed was predeceased by brothers Jack (Beatrix) and Albert, and his parents Herb and Elizabeth. In lieu of flowers donations to the C.N.I.B. will be gratefully acknowledged. SCOTT, Elsie G. Peacefully at Forest Hill, Kanata, after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson;s Disease, on Sunday, January 29, 2006. Elsie Dobson, August 28, 1927, dearest wife and best friend of Gordon Scott. Mother of Carolyn (Stephen McIntyre) and loving grandmother to the gems of her life Jennifer (Neil St. Germaine) and Laura. Sister of Alan (Maudie) and Steven (Lorraine). Predeceased by Genevieve, Margaret, Bernice and Jim. Elsie was born in Manson, Manitoba but considered Saskatchewan her home. A pioneer, Elsie helped pave the way for army wives by following her husband overseas in 1951 when wives were not supposed to. Elsie devoted over forty years to the Girl Guides in Germany and then in Canada. She gave many hours to various organizations, serving in Public Relations for The Lung Association, The Parkinson's Society of Ottawa-Carleton, Neighbourhood Watch and The Trefoil Guild. One of her proudest moments was in 1996 when she received the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award. She also received the Medal of Merit from the Girl Guides, the Dovercourt Community Builder Award and numerous other awards. A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Forest Hill Nursing Home for their care and support. CONRAD, CLIFTON ARNOLD With heavy hearts we announce the accidental death of Clifton Arnold Conrad on January 28, 2006. He was the son of the late Arnold and Geneva (Zwicker) Conrad of Branch LaHave. Cliff was born in Branch LaHave, N.S., February 23, 1940. He moved to Dartmouth in 1964 and then to Enfield in 1990. As a heavy duty mechanic, Cliff owned and operated with his son, BCR Equipment, Enfield Big Stop and in prior years, C.D. Tractor, Waverley Road. Clifton's joy and zest for life has touched many lives too numerous to mention. He was the best friend and husband of Eva Conrad (Dodds). Vincent (Vince) Carter Vincent (Vince) B. Carter, 83, of Moncton, passed away at his residence, Sunday, January 29, 2006. Born in Moncton, son of the late Blair and Gertrude (MacQuarrie) Carter. He was predeceased by his wife, Janette (Mills) Carter (1991). Vince was a Veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the Royal Canadian Army from 1942-46, retired from CNR as a supervisor with 38 years service. Clayton W. Reid 1918- 2006 Clayton William Reid beloved husband of Catherine (MacLeod) died at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on January 28, 2006. Betty Lena Wheaton 1947 - 2006 The death of Betty Lena Wheaton of John Street, Moncton, occurred after a lengthy illness at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, January 29, 2006. Born in Moncton on October 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John Alvin and Muriel Lena (Jones) Wheaton. Betty graduated from The Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1968 and worked as an R.N. in the Labor and Delivery Department of The Moncton Hospital until her retirement in the late 1990's. Betty had attended Mountain View United Church. She was a member of TOPS and an active volunteer with the cancer support group "Reach for Recovery". She is survived by her two daughters, Natasha Lee Rafuse and Melissa Jane Rafuse, both of Moncton; her grandson, Bailey Brandon Rafuse; two brothers, Ross Harvey Wheaton of Cap Pele and David John Wheaton of Moncton. In addition to her several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, she is survived by her aunt and uncle Alice and Chester Wheaton, and her aunt Muriel Fleming. OUTHOUSE, LILLIAN "LIL" L. - The death of Lillian "Lil" Louise Outhouse, of Garnett Settlement, NB, wife of the late John Brewer, occurred on January 27, 2006 at her residence. Born in Sussex, NB, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Jane (Coyle) Wilcox. Lil was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #64, Portland and served as President. She was formerly employed with numerous Saint John companies including Atlantic Sugar and Brenan's Funeral Home. She was an avid bingo player, dart player and bowling enthusiast. She is survived by three sons, Gordon London (Bernice) of Fredericton, Joseph E. London (Margaret) of Ontario and Frederick Outhouse of Saint John, five daughters, Helen Savoie (Louis) of Garnett Settlement, Shirley Munroe of Saint John, Lorna Parks of Saint John, Donna London of Toronto, ON and Adeline Outhouse of Sussex, one brother, Ernest Wilcox of Toronto, ON, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Jennie Parisien and Marilyn Sabean, four sons, Robert London, Kenneth London, James E. (Sonny) London and Ronald W. London, and her half-brother, George Thomas (Eva). Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Lillian was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary #64 Portland Branch, Royal Canadian Legion and was a member of the Outreach Program of the Loch Lomond Villa. She is survived by three sons, Percy (Marlene) of PEI, Raymond of Ottawa, ON and Douglas (Glenda) of Sheet Harbour, NS, seven daughters, Jenny Mitchell of Saint John, Betty Ring (Robert) of Saint John, Donna Breau (Roger) of Hampton, Helen Stein of Saint John, Hilda Micholuk (Robert) of Calgary, AB, Shirley Stein of Saint John and Judy LeBlanc (Paul) of North Carolina, daughter-in-law, Georgie Stein of Saint John, one sister, Joy McKenzie of Saint John, 34 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. WITHERLY, HAROLD NORMAN - 86, of New Minas, Kings County, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2006 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Brooke and Grace (Wright) Witherly. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Canadian Armed Forces as a tank mechanic and was stationed in Holland at the time of the liberation. He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn (Aiton) Simmons; a daughter, Sarah (Bob) McAusland, Austrailia; a son, Dale (Anne), British Columbia; step-children, Veronica Anne James and Russell Simmons, both of Ontario; a sister, Pauline Manuel, Ottawa; three grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle and Robin; two step-grand children, Blake and Simone; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Mildred Quinn; two sisters, Marion and Hazel; a brother, Bruce. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. At Harold's request, there will be no visitiatin or funeral service. KENNEDY, Richard Dennis Peacefully at the Wellington Nursing Home, Hamilton, Ontario on Saturday, January 28th, 2006 in his 87th year. Born September 12, 1919 in Beechgrove, Quebec. Cherished husband of Kathleen (Kay Graham) for 57 years. Dearly loved father of Melanie (Rob) Gardner, Hampton, ON. Much loved grandfather of Kerra and Katie, Acadia, N.S. of whom he was so proud. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Survived by brothers Leo (Anne), Harold (Kathy), Carl (Leigh), Don (Colleen) and sisters Violet Stanton, Mona Dube and Mary Regan (Jim). Predeceased by brother Lorne and parents Teressa McCloskey and Ambrose Kennedy. Ritch was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the Canadian Infantry Corp. A long time employee of Studebaker. He was an active gardener, golfer and a competitive card player. We express heartfelt gratitude to the Wellington Nursing Staff for their love and care. GILLIES, Anne Elizabeth (nee Chrysler) Died from complications of Parkinson's Disease at the Elisabeth Bruyere Centre on Sunday, January 29, 2006 aged 75 years. Predeceased by her husband Major Sidney Alexander Gillies. Dearly loved mother of Dr. Anne Martha (Ron Scammell), Austin Geoffrey Muireach (Meredith MacKinlay) and Ian Gordon Chrysler (Laura Watson). Grandmother of Adam MacKinlay Gillies and sister of Joan C. Quain. Also predeceased by sisters Frances Moir and Daphne Chrysler. A lifelong volunteer, Anne served in many community and charitable organizations, including May Court, Meals on Wheels, the I.O.D.E. and the Canadian Cancer Society. Anne also served as Parish Secretary of St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church for several years. Anne was proud and independent, widely read, active in the arts and loved to travel. Her thirteen years with Parkinson's drew from her deep reserves of courage, patience and humour. Her family wishes to extend special thanks to her many friends for their loving support; to Louise Belec, who has become a cherished family friend; to Anne's many caregivers and to the caring and compassionate staff of Villa Marguerite, Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre.
