FITCHBURG -- Jean (Cormier) Braga, 57, of 29 Hancock St., died peacefully at home Sunday, Dec. 11, after an 11-year struggle with cancer. She was born in Coventry, R.I., on April 21, 1948, the daughter of Earl and Marjorie (Carpenter) Cormier. She grew up in Coventry and graduated from Coventry High School.Mrs. Braga lived in Rockport for four years and in Winchester for 10 years before moving to Fitchburg five years ago. She was employed as executive secretary at Gen Rad in Concord, retiring 11 years ago due to illness.Mrs. Braga leaves her son, Matthew H. Aldrich of Jasper, Fla.; her daughters, Pamela F. Aldrich Fairley and her husband, Wilber Lee, of Pascagoula, Mi., and Kristie J. Aldrich Rines of Fitchburg; her grandchildren, Autumn Rines and Emily Rines, both of Fitchburg, Jalen Fairley and Matthew Fairley, both of Pascagoula, Mi.; and extended family in Rhode Island.BRAGA -- On Dec. 11, Jean (Cormier) Braga, 57, of Fitchburg. Imelda V. (Cyr) Beliveau, 90, of Manchester died December 15, 2005 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester.Imelda was born on July 5, 1915 in Manchester, the daughter of Adelard and Valeda (Goulet) Cyr. Mrs. Beliveau worked for many years for various shoe companies in Manchester. She was a parishioner of Ste.Marie Church most of her life. Mrs. Beliveau volunteer for over 30 years working in the rectory at Ste. Marie Church and was also a member of Ladies of St. Anne and vice president of C.W.V. AGAWAM - Irene O. (Daunais) Hamel, 73, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday December 14, 2005. Born in Springfield August 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Marie-Louise (Duchaine) Buoniconti and the late Joseph O. Daunais. She was educated in Springfield Schools. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo B. Hamel who died January 26, 1979. She was a longtime employee for the Town of Agawam and worked in the school systems as food service preparer. Irene was also very active in the town's Meals on Wheels Program and also worked in the Food Services at the former Riverside Park for several years. Irene enjoyed crocheting and was an avid bingo player in her spare time. Irene is survived by her two cherished sons, David W. Hamel and his wife Sharon of Southwick; Leo J. Hamel and his wife, Kelly of Feeding Hills; two cherished daughters, Donna L. Lavalette of Springfield; Debra L. Hamel of Agawam; two dear brothers, Robert Daunais of South Hadley; Louis Buoniconti of Wales, MA and a dear sister, Doris Scalia of Enfield, CT. She will be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Richard and Christopher Lavalette, Kyrsten and David Jr. Hamel, Tyler and Kalene Hamel. Irene also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucy Cust and two brothers, Rich and Frank Buoniconti. Irene was a lifelong resident of Agawam and will be remembered for her generosity and concern for those less fortunate. Irene's family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be celebrated by Rev. SANFORD - Paul J. Deschenes, 77, of Sanford, died Dec. 14 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. He was born in Sanford on March 27, 1928, the son of Jules and Desneiges (Fontaine) Deschenes and attended the former St. Ignatius School. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degrees, member and current Chaplain of the VFW, member of the Amvets and the American Legion all in Sanford. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Theresa M. (Therrien) Deschenes of Sanford; five sons, Paul E. Deschenes of Sanford, Mark E. Deschenes and his wife Marguerite of Sanford, John E. Deschenes and his wife Kim of Limerick, Ronald C. Deschenes and his wife Wendy of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Richard M. Deschenes of Sanford; two daughters, Claire E. Morrison and her husband James, and Anne M. Wintermute and her husband Donald, both of Sanford; 16 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St,, Sanford. Gertrude Dodge Beaulieu, 93, lifelong resident of Copper Hill Road, West Suffield, died peacefully on Wednesday, (December 14, 2005) at a local convalescent home. Gertrude was an avid gardener and a lover of nature. She is survived by her four children, Judith A. Lewis and her husband, John of Brown County, IN, Joyce I. Mako and her husband, James of Colchester, John J. Beaulieu and his wife, Suzanne of Ludlow, VT, and James N. LOUDONVILLE, NY -- Mildred E. Trombley, 85, of Campus View Drive, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in the Town of Nassau, she was the daughter of the late Arnold P. and Beatrice Cummings Gardner and wife of the late Edgar Trombley. Mildred was a 1936 graduate of the Averill Park High School and graduate of the Colonna Beauty School. Mildred had worked at the Modernella Beauty Shop before opening the former Broadway Beauty Salon in Troy. She had been retired for a number of years. Mildred was a former member of the Wolferts Roost Country Club and a member of the former Alps Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Harold E. (Mildred) Gardner of Averill Park; two sisters, Doris Shaver and Phyllis Kimmey, both of West Sand Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Mildred was also the sister of the late Lois Fitzgerald and Evelyn Hall. Funeral service Saturday 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. Erna G. (Garms) Crochetiere of North Attleboro, a retired bookkeeper, died on Tuesday at the Ridgewood Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Attleboro. She was 84. She was born in Germany. Her father later emigrated to the United States and soon thereafter called for his family.She arrived in America when she was 8 years old and settled in Connecticut. She was raised and educated in Waterbury, Conn., where she graduated from Wilby High School in 1938. She moved to Attleboro Falls in 1950 from Cheshire, Conn. Mrs. Crochetiere worked as a bookkeeper at Knobby Krafters in Attleboro for 27 years prior to her retirement in 1999. She was a woman of strong religious convictions and was a communicant of St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church near her home in Attleboro Falls. Mrs. Crochetiere’s German ancestry included several family members who owned and operated clothiers and she, too, had a love of sewing and making her own elegant clothing. Some of her favorite times included dining out with her late husband and friends, reading, and creating arts and crafts. Wife of the late William J. “Bill,” she is survived by her dear friends, Paul J. and Barbara A. Sauve of North Attleboro. PALMER - Irene M. (Gay) Hebert, 72, of Sykes Street in the Three Rivers section of Palmer, died Thursday, December 15, at home. Born in Palmer, December 31, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Aurelia (Daudelin) Gay. Irene grew up in Thorndike and was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. She worked at Monson Developmental Center for 30 years, retiring in 1992. On December 1, 2005 she and her husband Arthur celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary with family. Besides her husband, she will be deeply missed by her five children Anthony of San Francisco, CA, Kathleen Ronchi of Westfield, Paul of Spencer, Philip of Thorndike and David of Chicopee. She also leaves eight siblings and eight grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as "Meme". Calling hours for Irene will be Sunday December 18 at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Grandmaison, Jack A. -- Pinconning, Michigan -- Mr. Grandmaison, age 58 years, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005, at Brian's House. He was born in Bay City on March 4, 1947 to Raymond & Helen Grandmaison. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Viet Nam Conflict. He married the former Camille Gifford on July 19, 1966 at Visitation Church in Bay City. She survives him. He retired from G.M. Powertrain and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In addition to his wife of 39 years he is survived by their daughters, Tiffanie Sue Belanger, and Melissa (Greg) Compeau; 4 grandchildren: Brianna and Taylor Green, Macie Belanger and Kade Compeau; his mother, Helen (Don) Brazelton; 2 brothers, Robert Grandmaison and Bernie Grandmaison. CHEBOYGAN - Carl J. Malenfant, age 98 of Cheboygan passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005 at Tendercare of Cheboygan.He was born March 4, 1907 in Cheboygan to Fred and Caroline (Schley) Malenfant. Carl was employed at the Cheboygan State Savings Bank (National City) for many years as a record keeper retiring in 1969. He was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and playing his guitar.Survivors include his sister, Gerry Malenfant of Cheboygan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Myrt, Harry, Frank, George, Fred, Paul, Edward and Leo; and three sisters, Bertha LaCross, Marie Malenfant and Kate LaHaie.Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 16, 2005, at the Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan. FITCHBURG -- Raymond J. Ouellette, 76, of Oak Hill Road, died Thursday morning, Dec. 15, in Birchwood Care Center, after an illness. He was born on Oct. 21, 1929, in Fitchburg, the daughter of Napoleon and Evalda (Blais) Ouellette and lived in Westminster for a few years before he came to live in Fitchburg, in 1978. Mr. Ouellette had been a steel fabricator for the C&W Fabricators of Gardner for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was born in Winchendon on Oct. 4, 1944, the son of Henry J. and Ethel M. (Gassett) Sevigny and was a lifelong resident of Winchendon. Mr. Sevigny was the owner and operator of David L. Sevigny Inc., which he founded in 1963. He formerly owned a building supply business in Winchendon. He was a member of the Winchendon Board of Health, was a former member of the Winchendon Fire Department, was a life member of the Winchendon Rod and Gun Club, and was a generous supporter of the DARE program, the Murdock Sports Boosters and sponsored a Winchendon Little League team. Mr. Sevigny leaves his wife of 33 years, Cheryl P. (Wiles) Sevigny; four sons, David L. Sevigny Jr., Richard A. Sevigny, Anthony W. Sevigny and Michael J. Sevigny, all of Winchendon; four daughters, Cathleen C. Sevigny, Patricia A. Sevigny, Diane M. Sevigny and Mary A. Sevigny, all of Winchendon; a brother, Henry J. Mr. Tardiff was a 4th degree member of John F. Harris Council No. 1870 Knights of Columbus, Caribou and Milford Council No. 3035. He enjoyed fishing, four wheeling and snowmobiling. Mr. Tardiff was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Milford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Tardiff of Milford; three daughters, Debra Rose of Summerfield, Fla., Lori Anne Sherman of St. Albans, Vt. and Michele M. Joseph E. Caron, 85, of Heidi Lane, Merrimack, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at his home after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mr. Caron was born in Nashua on January 1, 1920, a son of the late David & Cecile (Ouellette) Caron. He was the devoted husband of Cecile T. (Chomard) Caron to whom he had been happily married for 62 years. One of fourteen children, he was a longtime resident of Nashua until his recent move to Merrimack four years ago. He attended Nashua Schools and was in the first graduating class of the Elm St. Nashua High School, class of 1938, serving on the class reunion committee for many years. He also attended Lowell Technological Institute and Manchester Technological institute. Mr. Caron served in the US Navy during WWII as an Aviation Machinist Mate, First Class. He worked for Nashua Corporation for 36 years retiring as a supervisor of the mechanical department. Mr. Caron belonged to several organizations including the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Nashua Industrial Management Club, former president and life member of Catholic War Veterans Post #1406, American Legion James E. Coffee Post #3, committeeman for the Boy Scout Troop 272 of Nashua and he was a former member of the Knight of Columbus Council #122. LAMOTHE, Lionel Joseph The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the age of 70 years. Son of the late Leo Lamothe and of the late Liliane (nee Gagnon) Lamothe. Loving father of Tony Lamothe (Nicole) of Barrie, Yvette Taylor (Larry) of Port Hope and Robert Lamothe (Rhonda) of Sudbury. Dear brother of Romeo Lamothe (Pauline) and Claudette Tackman (late Bob) both of Chelmsford, Raymond Lamothe (Lima) and Claude Lamothe both of Sudbury and Normand Lamothe of Arnprior. Predeceased by his sister Juliette Comtois (Edward of Azilda) and by his brother Ronald. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Annie, Linda, Eric, Krysta and by his great-grandson, Dallas. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Lamothe was a miner for some 10 years and a glasser with Best Way Glass for 30 years. In keeping with Mr. Lamothe's wish, there was no visitation. 1st Sgt. (Retired) GEORGE FRANCES JOSEPH LAMOTHE-- LACEY, Wash. — 1st Sgt. (retired) George Frances Joseph Lamothe, a longtime resident of Lacey, passed away peacefully, surronded by his family, at his home on Dec. 5, 2005. George was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Winooski, Vt., to Adolph and Yvonne (LaCourse) Lamothe. He married the love of his life, Betty Joann “Jody“ Couch, on Sept. 3, 1955. He was a very proud but extremely humble man who served his country in the U.S. Army for two tours in Korea and in Vietnam. During his time in Korea, he established an orphanage that is still in use to this day. The Lamothe Family found their home in Lacey in the mid 1960s, and George retired in 1972. He belonged to the VFW and the American Legion. In the 1980s, he and Jody reveled in their time spent with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and George won many awards until he retired and sold his Gold Wing. He enjoyed his garden and his roses and would give many tours a week to watch the progress. George loved photography and passed on the passion to many. His philosophy was to “pass it on, don't pay me back, pass it on to someone else in need.“ He was always helping people. Being surrounded by his family at his home for his final days was precious for George, and he continued to tell them how wonderful they were for caring for him, especially having his dear wife so close by his side. He will be forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife, “Jody“; his children, Betty Williams, George “Bub“ Lamothe, and Sgt. Greg Lamothe; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; brother, Donald Lamothe; sisters, Yvonne Juiffre and Ruth Nolan; numerous nieces and nephews; and an endless score of persons adopted by heart. TWEEDIE, EDGAR T. Q.C., C.D. Edgar T. Tweedie passed away peacefully on December 15, 2005 at the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton, NB. He was 87 years old. Ed was born in Centreville, NB and grew up in Woodstock, NB. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Kate (Cahill) Tweedie, brothers F. Dodd Tweedie and Robert A. Tweedie and by his sister, Eileen Bragdon. He was also predeceased by his eldest son, Gordon F. Tweedie, who died suddenly on October 2, 2003. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife, Jean (Kennedy) Tweedie and their children: Susan Davis (Jim) of Black Point, NS and grandchildren Kelly and Benjamin Davis; son William Tweedie of Malaysia; son Edgar (Ted) Tweedie (Annzena) of New Westminster, BC and grandchildren Sarah, Emma and Toni; son James Tweedie (Jennie) of North York, ON and grandchildren Lauren and Megan Tweedie; son Matthew M. Tweedie (Leanne Jardine) of Fredericton, NB. He is also survived by his grandchildren (children of the late Gordon F. Tweedie) Brendan, Kate, Erin, and Daniel Tweedie and their mother, Susan Mais Tweedie of Rothesay, NB and his sister, Kap Pridham (Harry) of Truro, NS. Ed was a graduate of Woodstock High School and Mount Allison University. He was President of his graduating class of 1940 at Mt A. and helped to organize several class reunions over the years. Following his graduation from Mt. A. in 1940 he enrolled in the Canadian Army and served during the Second World War in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Holland, Germany and Belgium as a member of the Carleton & York Regiment. Following the War he also served in the Reserve Forces until 1959. A Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, he served several terms as President of Edmundston Branch #25 and he was also President of the NB Provincial Command in 1966. He was admitted to the Bar in 1948 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1966.He practiced law in Edmundston NB, with his brother F. Dodd Tweedie until 1983. He then served one year as a Pension Commissioner with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and subsequently practiced law in Fredericton with the firm of Atkinson & Atkinson. He concluded his career as a Service Officer with the Provincial Command of the Royal Canadian Legion in Saint John in 1990. Throughout his career he was committed to serving and assisting veterans. Ed was also actively involved with the Carleton & York Regiment Veterans' Association. As President of the Reunion Committee he helped organize annual reunions of the Regiment from 1997 to the 60th consecutive and final reunion in 2005. Ed had a dry wit and a great sense of humour. He loved to play bridge, attend horse races and cheer on his favourite sports teams. A kind and generous man who was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, he will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. Visitation will be at McAdam Select Community Funeral Home York Street on December 18th, 2005 from 2-4 pm. A memorial service will be held at J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, December 19th, 2005 at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Canon Jon R. Lownds. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 will hold a tribute service at the memorial service. BOJTAR, Bela “Bill“ (Woody) - On Thursday, December 15th, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 46. Bill was the dearly loved husband of Pat and loving father of Jennifer (Joe), Crystal and Jessica (Mike). He was the loving son of Gerda Either of Port Colborne and son-in-law of Floyd and Joan Badgley of Thorold. Survived by his brothers Tim and P.J. and sister Geraldine, and his brothers and sisters-in-law in the Badgley family. Bill was the much loved uncle of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Bill was employed with Modern Landfill. He was an active member of the Thorold South Volunteer Fire Department and the Thursday Night Dart League. Bill will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.
