Leo J. Caisse -- April 16, 1915 - November 26, 2005 -- CANTERBURY -Leo J. Caisse, 90, formerly of 30 Knollwood Dr., died early Saturday morning at Haven Health in Griswold. He was born in Norwich on April 16, 1915 the son of the late Antoine and Bernadette (Glaude) Caisse. Leo was employed as a dairy farmer all of his life before retiring a number of years ago. Survivors include three half sisters, Lydia Lewis of Norwich, Mary Rose Coutu of Canterbury and Florence Larose of Greenwood, S.C., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Loretta McShane and one half sister Antoinette Burke. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Marguerite M. (Dubois) Peterson, 88, formerly of 718 Hevey Street, died on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2005 at the Ridgewood Center in Bedford.She was born in Canada on September 28, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Albertine (Dallaire) Dubois and had been a Manchester resident for most of her life. She was a long time parishioner of the Church of the Transfiguration. She was the widow of Albert Peterson who died in 1972. She was predeceased by two sisters, Vivian Dubois and Doris Cedras and also by a grandson, Jeffrey Lavalliere. She enjoyed dancing, singing and spending time with her grandchildren.Family members include a son, Robert Peterson of Manchester; three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Priscilla “Pat”) Martel of Manchester, Mrs. Gregory (Beverly) Weir and Deborah Chaffee both of Hooksett; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.In Her Life: She had a courageous ten year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. ROCHESTER — Roland J. Dumont, 84, of 4 Link St., died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005.He was born in Berwick, Maine on April 2, 1921, the son of Joseph and Blanche (Caron) Dumont. He was a resident of the Rochester area since 1943 and previously resided in Berwick and Somersworth. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester.Mr. Dumont worked as a carpenter with Hervey's Construction Co. prior to his retirement. He was a former member of Club Victoire, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Club Richelieu. He enjoyed purchasing scratch and lottery tickets, and his frequent visits with his friends at George & Ed's Convenience Store in Rochester.Surviving family members include: his wife, Alice Roulx Dumont, whom he married in 1945; a sister, Laurette Babbs and her husband, Hayden, of Berwick; three brothers, Roger Dumont and his wife, Cecile, of Rochester, Eugene Dumont and his wife, Gertrude, of Berwick, and Victor Dumont, both of Berwick; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Rochester. Colonel Hector H. Matherne, Sr., Ret. USAF, age 85, on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at his residence in Belle Chasse, LA. Beloved husband of Juanita B. Matherne. Son of the late Jacques Jean Matherne and the late Henrietta Scelson Matherne. Father of Brenda J. Klibert and her husband, Allen J. Klibert, Hector ""Bert"" H. Matherne, Jr. and his wife, Lana K. Matherne and Brandon B. Matherne and his wife, Diana L. Matherne. Grandfather of Tressie E. Klibert, Dale A. Klibert, Hector H. Matherne, III, Shane M. Matherne, Sheena M. Matherne, Carmann D. Matherne, Marguerite E. Matherne, Marshall B. Matherne and two great grandchildren, Kamryn V. Roberts and Dale A. Klibert. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Bonnie L. Brandon and other family members. A native of DesAllemands, LA and a resident of Belle Chasse, LA., Col. Matherne began his Air Force career in 1942 upon graduating from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. He earned a commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps through the university's ROTC program. From 1942-1946, Col. Matherne served on active duty stateside as well as in the Asian-Pacific theater. He was stationed in Okinawa when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He returned to the United States in 1946 and converted to the Air Force reserve and advanced to full colonel prior to his retirement in June of 1973. He served the U.S. Air Force for 31 years. Col. Matherne was a life member of the U.S. Air Force Association, Reserve Officers Association, the Retired Officers Association and was a member of the LSU Alumni Association. He retired in 1983 from Freeport Sulphur Company where he was employed as a Treasury Manager. He worked at Freeport Sulphur for 36 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, November 28, 2005 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Belle Chasse, LA. Interment will follow services in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. LOWELL -- Raymond P. Gendreau, 80, a resident of Lowell's Centralville section, who worked at a printing company for more than four decades in the city and was a World War II veteran, died Friday, Nov. 25, from an extended illness. He was the husband of Estelle R. (Forest) Gendreau, with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in October.He was born in Lowell, June 22, 1925, son of the late Victor L. and Lucille (Gadbois) Gendreau.During World War II, Mr. Gendreau served with the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was awarded the Commemorative Medal of Accommodation by the Ambassador of Russia "for his valor and valuable contribution to the efforts of Russia and the Allies in the struggle of unprecedented magnitude against Nazi Germany."Mr. Gendreau was a communicant of St. Louis de France Church.Mr. Gendreau was employed by the Courier Citizen as a lithographer for 43 years.He was an avid bowler and Red Sox fan.Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Diane and Andy Wolfgang of Andover, Terri and Lee Kirkwood, residing in Colorado, Jeanne and Paul Marion of Hudson, N.H., Pauline St. Onge of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Michelle Burley, Paula Jean, Carl and Corey R. George A. Godin 79, passed away November 12, 2005 from complications following a heart attack. A native Pennsylvanian and 32 year Tucson resident, he is survived by two children, James of Tucson, Suzanne of Plattsburg, NY; three grandchildren, Simone and Travis of Connecticut, Angela of Plattsburg, and his companion of nine years, Claire Snow. George was a graduate Civil Engineer from the University of Pittsburgh, 1950. He served in WWII in the Navy, Pacific theatre, as a radar specialist. After a 23 year career in heavy construction and marine engineering, George founded the first Arizona county building department in Pima County in 1973. Later he was responsible for the planning, engineering and construction of La Paloma. Upon retiring he was expert witness in accidental injury lawsuits and a member of Pima County Building Code Advisory Board for two terms. He loved hunting, fishing, photography, workshop, crafts, and memorable people. After he was 70 he learned tennis by watching the pros and became an enthusiastic player. He was also a self-taught theatre organ player. George felt every challenge was to be met and conquered. Despite some difficult times, he had an interesting life and gave it everything he had. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30th, at 1:00 p.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.Published on Tucson.com on 11/27/2005.

MT. VERNON, WA-Gerard R. LaParle, 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mount Vernon, Washington November 20, 2005. Gerard (Jerry) was born on January 7, 1945, in Putnam, Connecticut, the second son of Raymond LaParle and Evelyn Dumas.Jerry was married to Elaine Durocher in 1966, and they have two daughters, Laura Musselwhite who lives in Seattle, WA, and Melanie LaParle, who lives in Denver, CO. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis, and is survived by his wife, Elaine, daughters Laura and her husband, David, and Melanie and Erin Walsh, a friend, a brother, John, his wife Chris and their daughter Schuyler. He leaves a dear niece, Denise Earle and her family, and a nephew Dean LaParle. He also leaves Tacoma, and Ashley, his dedicated canine pets, who will miss him terribly. All who knew him will most particularly miss his sense of humor and his wit. His daughters especially appreciated his incredible support as they pursued first college and then professional careers. Betty C. LaRue 80, passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 at her home in Tucson from an extended illness. Survivors include her husband of 60 years Jim E. LaRue; her sister Nell Raglund; three children, Jill LaRue and her husband Tom Ettinger, of Cashmere, Washington, Judy McCarthy and her husband Craig of Spokane, Washington; Tom LaRue and his wife Kim Ga Young of Dunham Market, England; five grandchildren, Stephen, Alexa, Connor, Michael, and Jesse; two step-grandchildren, Colleen and Matthew; one great grandson, James Jr. She was preceded in death by grandson James LaRue and sister Frances Johnson. Mrs. LaRue was born in West Virginia and attended Carson-Newman College in Tennessee where she met her husband who was in the Navy V-12 program. She then attended Marshall University in West Virginia. She married during World War II; and when her husband returned from service, she attended and graduated with a BS degree from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Mrs. LaRue served as assistant registrar at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and also at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. During the years her husband was coaching the Chicago Bears in Illinois, she was a realtor and earned honorary awards for her million dollars sales records. Upon her husband's retirement in 1993, she returned with him to their beloved Tucson area where they had reared their young children. In 1995, the LaRue's celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with relatives coming from as far away as Japan, Washington State, Virginia, and South Carolina. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 29, 2005. Services will be held Monday November 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft Rd., Tucson, AZ. Followed by interment at East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Mrs. Marion V. (Laviolette) Paolucci-Arendholz, age 72, of Ellen Drive, wife of Harry W. Arendholz, died Saturday November 26, 2005, at the Bristol Hospital. Mrs. Arendholz was born in New York City, June 5, 1933, a daughter of the late George Laviolette and the late Virginia (Desmond) (Laviolette) Wargo. She had been a Connecticut resident for more than 57 years, spending the last 10 years in Naugatuck and moving to Terryville last month. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Naugatuck. She retired in the late 80s from the New State Dinner in Bridgeport where she had worked for more than 17 years. Besides her husband of 9 years, she leaves one son, Alan Paolucci of Stratford; four daughters, Gail Paolucci of Terryville, Marie Paolucci-Podus of Milford, Doreen Paolucci-Iorio of Terryville and Daneen Costanzo of West Haven; three brothers, Cliff Laviolette and William Laviolette both of Troy, N.Y, and Eugene Laviolette of Arizona; two sisters, her twin, Marie Ciarcia of Naugatuck, formerly of Bridgeport and Helen Hunt of Troy, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. SPRINGFIELD - Leo W. Marchand, 89, a resident of Springfield, for the past fifteen years, formerly of Lawrence, MA, died late Friday morning at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born and educated in Lawrence, and was a retired truck driver for many years with the former Jeffson Trucking Company of Lawrence. Leo, was a member of the Springfield Golden Agers Club, a communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Springfield, and former longtime member of the Teamsters Local Union in Lawrence. He was the husband of the late Emily Marie (Beauchesne) Marchand, who died in December of 2000 and father of the late Michael Marchand who died in September of 1954. Leo, leaves two daughters, Dolores M. "Dolly" Nelson and her husband, Stephen of Springfield, and Jackie Tracy of Chicopee. He also leaves one son, Russell Marchand of Florida, as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Bedford. She was employed at Mudder Pearl as a time study. She attended Kinyon Campbell Business School and was also owner/operator of a card shop on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford. Mrs. Bonneau was a member of the St. Therese's Seniors and Our Lady of Fatima Seniors. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, reading and crocheting. Survivors include a daughter, Pauline R. Chauvette and her husband, David, of Tiverton, R.I.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Bonneau of Foxboro; and a nephew. She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. She was employed by Tremblay Bus Co. as a driver and had previously worked as a stitcher in a local garment shop. Mrs. Comeau enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed helping out others in need. Survivors include her widower; two sons, Patrick E. Comeau and his wife, Ruth, of Fairhaven and Timothy M. Comeau of Dartmouth; two daughters, Kathleen A. Prescott and her husband, Richard, and Kelly Comeau and her husband, Mark Munger, both of New Bedford; nine grandchildren; a brother, Edmond Dube of New Bedford; two sisters, Antoinette Richards of New Bedford and Andrea Morris of Middleboro; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John Comeau and sister of the late Maurice Dube and Lucien Dube. Raymond Serge Roy M.D. died peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2005 at Alterra Health Care in Tequesta. Florida. He was born on October 16, 1909 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Joseph and Eglantine (McLean) Roy. Dr. Roy received his Bachelor of Science degree from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts where he lettered in soccer and was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha fraternity. He attended the University of Alabama where he attained a Masters Degree in physiology and was awarded his Medical Degree from the University of Chicago. Dr. Roy served in the Coast Guard during World War II. On July 13, 1940 he married Grace B. Bruels, the love of his life. They were happily married for 58 years. Dr. Roy was a pioneer in the field of orthopedic surgery in the West Palm Beach area where he moved with his family in 1947. He was on the staff of St. Mary's and Good Samaritan Hospitals and willingly gave countless hours of free medical care to the patients at the local Pine Ridge Hospital as well as hospitals in Clewiston and Belle Glade. Dr. Roy treated hundreds of athletes at St. Ann's High School and Palm Beach High School and was the team physician for the St. Ann's football program for a number of years. The family traveled extensively in the 1950's throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. The domestic travel was in a school bus converted to a motor home, a true innovation in the 1950's era. Dr. Roy was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed golfing and in his later years won numerous senior tournaments. After retiring Dr. Roy developed interests in computers and writing. He was frequently published in both medical and travel journals. He was preceded in death by his loyal and loving wife Grace. Survivors include two sons, Raymond (Karen) Roy, Jr. of Vero Beach, Florida, Dr. Douglas (Judy) Roy of Winter Haven, Florida; four daughters, Patricia (William) Hayward of Houston, Texas, Roberta Schwerzler of Morristown, New Jersey, Claire (Frank) Taylor of Los Angeles, California, and Constance (Terry) Fisher of Tequesta, Florida, and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and a brother Normand Roy of Verona, New Jersey. O'Dair, Jacqueline A., 52, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, passed away on Nov. 20, 2005 at home with Fairview Home Care and Hospice Program after a two year struggle with cancer. Born Mar. 4, 1953 in Milwaukee to D. Russell and Virginia Jaques. Attended St. Margaret Mary grade school and Marshall High School, Milwaukee and graduated from the U of WI at Stout. Lived in the Mpls. area since 1975 with a career in the retail and mortgage industry. She was co-owner of First Equity Mortgage in Inver Grove Heights. Preceded in death by her father. Survived by husband Jerry P. O'Dair; mother in Milwaukee; brothers, Daniel of San Diego and Thomas of Milwaukee; sisters, Joanne Schrubbes of Beulah, CO; and Cynthia Jaques of Mpls; mother-in-law Helen O'Dair of Park Rapids; sister-in-law Judy Rogers of St. Cloud; nieces, nephews and many friends. Private interment in Park Rapids, MN planned in the future. Memorials preferred to Fairview Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Memorial service 11AM, Sat. GRAHOVAC, Zvonimir Stejpan, M.D. Died peacefully on November 24, 2005. Born October 29, 1920 in the city of Zagreb, Croatia he emigrated to Canada from England in 1963. He received a Doctor of Medicine Degree from Graz, Austria in 1946 and was Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. From 1965 to 1995 he was a neuroradiologist at the Ottawa General Hospital. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Patricia Corlett Grahovac, daughter Petra Corlett Wiederhorn of N. Salem, New York and son Stephen Zvonimir Grahovac, M.D. of Kennett Square, Pennsylvannia. His sister, Stephania Maitre died in 1963 in Paris, France. In addition, he has five grandchildren, Stephanie, Michelle and Alexandre Grahovac as well as Stephen and Elyse Wiederhorn. No visitation is planned. Gwenyth Jean Doyle September 22, 1928 - November 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) Gwenyth Jean Doyle (Gwen) passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 surrounded in the love of her family. She will be forever loved, and deeply missed by her children: John/Jack, Dave (Patti), Brian (Jeanette), and Garth (Isabella); as well as her grandchildren: Taylor, Shannon, Paige, Rayshell, Andrew and Joshua. She also leaves to mourn her sister Norma (Vern) and numerous nieces and nephews. Gwen was a constant giver, volunteering at both The Interfaith Food Bank and The Kerby Centre, where she dedicated countless hours. She was happy when modelling for the Kerby Museum of Fashion. She greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren. They were an endless source of her laughter and joy. Gwen was predeceased by her loving husband Walter in 1967, leaving her to raise her four boys independently, while living in Caroline Alberta. She was also predeceased by her sister Lenore Mitchell in 1993. Gwen will be remembered for her kind heart. All that were blessed to know her were touched by her genuine caring and goodness. We would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Reuther and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, as well as Dr. Wong and the nurses on Unit 47 of the Rockyview Hospital.If friends so desire donations in Gwen's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
