Reverend Dr. Roy Kenneth Holm May 04, 1936 - November 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Regina Funeral Home REVEREND DR. ROY K. HOLM – On Friday, November 25, 2005, Roy Kenneth Holm, beloved husband, father, brother, Papa, passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, with his family at his side. Left behind to treasure his memory is his beloved wife and best friend Maxine (nee Baase) and their children, Sherri (Ron) Russell - Shawne and Amron; Debra (Don) Lewis, Brigette and Brandi (in heart); Gina Holm - Matthew, Mark, Andrew and Celine; Michael Holm - Braden; and David Holm. He will also be greatly missed and remembered by his sister, Betty Crosby; sister-in-law, Marion Holm; mother-in-law, Helen Baase, sister-in-law, Marilyn (John) Carter; brother-in-law, Robert (Marlene) Baase; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as his family in Christ. Roy was born in Palmer, Nebraska on May 4, 1936, to Bruno and Elizabeth Holm. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1960, and vicared at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in New Westminster, BC where he and Maxine were married on June 26, 1960. They began their life together in Saskatchewan where Roy was assigned to serve the parishes of Estevan, Midale and Outram, SK. He served as president of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, now known as the Central District, Lutheran Church-Canada, from 1978 until June 2000. Roy was instrumental in the forming of Lutheran Church-Canada (LCC). He has served as secretary and vice president of LCC; on the Board of Regents of the Edmonton and St. Catharines Seminaries and Concordia University College of Alberta in Edmonton; secretary of the International Lutheran Conference; Board of Directors of Canadian Lutheran World Relief; and Lutheran Council in Canada. He has been active in community service both in Estevan and for the Province of Saskatchewan. Roy received the Doctor of Divinity degree from Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton, AB in 1989. In recent years he was the chairman of the Board of Regents, Concordia University College of Alberta, Edmonton, AB and chairman of the Council of Presidents, Lutheran Church-Canada. Currently he was serving as a director on the Board of Canadian Lutheran World Relief; L.A.M.P. (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots); the Lakeshore Tennis Club Board; and the local Cancer Unit Board. Until early November he was serving as interim pastor for two congregations – St. Luke’s Lutheran, Ogema and Celebration Lutheran, Regina. Our beloved Papa has gone to his heavenly home to join his parents, Bruno and Elizabeth Holm, his brother, Walter Holm, his father-in-law, Carl Baase, his sister-in-law, Karen Stevenson, and his brothers-in-law, Donald Dore and Louis Crosby. Many thanks to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital, Dr. Morris, Dr. Chal Chal, and Dr. Clein, the angel nurses, and all involved in Roy’s care over the past five years. Irwin: Lorna 1919 - 2005 Lorna Frances Lydia Irwin (nee Richards), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister joined her Lord and Saviour on November 27, 2005 passing away peacefully at the Hanna Extended Care Complex at the age of 86 years. One of seven children born to Dwight and Mertie Richards of Arrowwood. Lorna was born on August 8, 1919. Later Lorna married Lloyd Irwin in January of 1940 at Arrowwood, Alberta. She moved to Calgary in 1949 and lived there for 53 years before moving out to Craigmyle in 2003. Lorna spent the last two years of her life in Hanna at the Hanna Lodge and Extended Care Complex. Being born a farm girl, Lorna had a great love of nature and spent many hours in her garden and yard nurturing plants to life. Farming was always near Lorna’s heart whether it was visiting her sons and their families on their farms, walking through the crops taking samples of grain, or finding an unusual rock for her collection. Lorna had an unshakeable faith sustaining her through many times in life and was a dedicated member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Calgary. She had a real passion for music and especially for playing the piano. But Lorna's greatest love of all was for her family whom she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. Lorna was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Irwin, her parents, Dwight and Mertie Richards and her brother, Gordon Richards. She leaves behind her sons; Gary and his wife Marilyn, and Byron and his wife Sandra. Lorna is survived by her grandchildren: Leah Hunter (Jim Hunter), Brett Irwin, Shawna Johnston (Lee Johnston), Vance Irwin (Karen Irwin), and Maria Withey (Sam Withey); and eight great-grandchildren Grant, Mark, Paige, Justin, Spencer, Dylan, Tyler and Nolan. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Leroy Richards, Margaret Dumka, Erma Lawson, Don Richards, and Anne Kostenuk. We would like to extend our deepest thanks for the compassionate care given by the staff of the Hanna Dialysis Unit and her caregivers at the Hanna Extended Care Complex. Ms. Bastien was born August 6, 1920 in Vineland, NJ daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Kellman) Bastien. She spent most of her life in Rochester, NY graduating from Madison High School and working for many years as a bookkeeper at H.J. Ludington Inc. She was especially beloved by her nieces and nephews. In 1998 she moved to Cheshire, CT, but her fondest memories were of Rochester. WEST WARREN— Leon N. "Buck" Beaudry of 156 South Street, West Warren, passed from this life on November 24, 2005, at Mary Lane Hospital. He was the son of Napoleon and Angelina Cook Beaudry. Buck was born on March 6, 1912, in West Warren, where he lived for 93 years. He attended and graduated from the former St. Thomas Aquinas Parochial School. He also attended Warren High School. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gertrude Masse Beaudry. He also leaves a brother, Hector Beaudry of Port-Richey, Florida. Buck was predeceased by his three brothers, Napoleon, Arthur and Henry. He leaves a niece, MaryAnn Shynovek of West Warren and a cousin, Blanche Cook of Hampden. Buck worked for twenty years for Colorado Fuel Inc. in Palmer. He also worked at William E. Wright & Sons in West Warren. His career in the U.S. Navy ended in January 1944 with an Honorable Discharge. Buck was a member of the West Warren American Legion, which merged with the West Brookfield American Legion, for over 60 years. In November 1995, he was recognized with a banquet and received a letter of testimonial of esteem and gratitude for faithful performance of duties in World War II. Buck was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was well known for his many hand-tied fishing flies. He was an active member and daily communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in West Warren. She worked as the Activities Director for Notre Dame Long Term Care Center for several years, until retirement. Mrs. McKeon was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Nurse Service on April 17, 1953. She was a member of Christ the King Church. She loved spending time with her family and playing bingo at St. Christopher’s Church. She graduated from the Worcester High School of Commerce. Mrs. Belsito was a secretary in the Worcester area for several years until illness forced her to retire. FEEDING HILLS - Thomas F. Fortier, Sr., passed away November 25th at Baystate Medi cal Center. He was born Jan. 25, 1942 a son to Francis and Helen (Shea) Fortier. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corpral. He worked as a district sales manager for Amtrak. Tom was a proud member of the American Legion in Agawam, a member of SKAL (a travel organization); he enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father and a son William. Tom leaves his mother Helen of Westfield; his beloved wife of 42 years Andrea (Magni) of Feeding Hills; he was a devoted father to his children; sons Thomas F. Jr., of San Francisco, CA, and Michael and his wife Alyssa of Orlando, FL; and his daughter Marie Ball and her husband Wayne of Feeding Hills; he leaves his cherished grandchildren Aidan ( grandpa's little engineer) Fortier, Emily (papa's special angel) Ball, Megan (papa's baby girl) Ball and Logan ( grandpa's baby) Fortier; also his favorite boy "shadow"; his brother Ronald of Westfield and his sister Elizabeth Demski also of Westfield. Gladu, Sr., and Claire P. (Bessette) Gladu, both of West Springfield and moved to Westfield in 2003. She was last employed as a counselor for the River Valley Counseling Center in Holyoke. Besides her loving parents, she leaves her beloved husband, Woodrow L. "Woody" Whitney of Westfield. Her five loving daughters, Jetaun R. Braese of Virginia Beach, VA, Chantelle M. Dewey of Rutland, VT, April Dewey of Springfield, Crystal Dewey of Westfield and Andrea Jenks of Tampa, FL. Her eight cherished grandchildren. Her three dear step-children, Mary Jane Whitney and David Whitney, both of Hatfield and Brian Whitney of Springfield. Her seven dear brothers and sisters, Norman R. Gladu, Jr. of West Springfield, Lawrence O. Gladu of Columbia City, IN, Gary Gladu of Bristol, CT, Jeffrey D. Gladu of Chicopee, Donna M. Lane of Holyoke, Debbie J. Rowley of Fairview and Suzanne C. LAWRENCE, MASS. -- Louise Elise Gregoire, 88, residing at M.I. Restorative Center in Lawrence, Mass., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, there. She was born in Chelsea, Mass., on Nov. 29, 1916, daughter of the late Hornisdas and Sarah (Mombouquette) Gregoire and stepdaughter of the late Annie Gregoire.Louise was educated at Chelsea schools. She had served as a Grey Nun for over 35 years and was a missionary in Africa while serving with the Order. Louise had worked in the Grey Nuns Thrift Shop as well as the Protectory in Lawrence and many other orphanages in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. After leaving the Grey Nuns in 1972, Miss Gregoire went to work at Centronics in Hudson, N.Y., and then moved to Chazy, N.Y., where she worked in child care. CHICOPEE - Helen A. (Kisiel) St. George, 80, died Friday surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born February 26, 1925 to the late Joseph and Anna Kisiel. She attended Chicopee schools and was a former member of the Chicopee APTA. Mrs. St. George worked for the former A.G. Spaulding for 32 years was on the council for the Smith Highland Improvement Association. Helen was a parishoner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Mrs. St. George was pre-deceased by her husband Omer X. St. George July 29, 1995. She will be sadly missed by one son, Ronald O. St. George of Chicopee; two daughters, Regina Collins and her husband Douglas of South Hadley, and Roma Knapton and her husband Dan of Canandaigua, N.Y.; two brothers, Joseph Kisiel of Chicopee and Albert Kisiel of West Springfield; three sisters, Bertha LaBonte, Phyllis Tougas, and Stella Morrison all of Chicopee;six grandchildren, Amy, Erica, Andrea, Ben, Adam, and Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. SARATOGA SPRINGS Our precious, beloved and loving daughter, Lorraine (Raine) LaFountain, died from an automobile accident on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 in Scranton, Pa. She was 20 years old. Raine was born and raised in Saratoga Springs and was a graduate of the Class of 2003 at Saratoga Springs High School. She was currently a junior at Penn State University. Raine was deeply loved and adored by her parents, Catherine Harris and Mark Smith, as well as her two sisters, Jhackleen (Jackie) and Desiree (Desi) LaFountain. We, as well as her paternal grandparents, Michael and Beverley Smith, and her maternal grandmother, Mary Howard, and the rest of her family and friends will never forget the deep love and special kindnesses and thoughtfulness that Lorraine bestowed upon us every day. She was employed by the State of Connecticut and American Mutual Ins. Co. for many years, retiring in 1996. She was an expert seamstress designing many of her own clothes. She was born Aug. 8, 1937 in Shawinigan, Quebec, a daughter of Herve and Gracia Dubord Prescott. She was educated in Canada and later graduated from Biddeford Adult Education. She also successfully complete a nursing program to be a certified nurse's attendant. On Dec. 26, 1955, she married Andre R. Pronovost in Baie Shawinigan Church in Shawinigan, Quebec. She along with her husband and son came to the local area in 1966. Yvette's greatest love was Eric and his family. She adored her grandson Nicholas and her granddaughter Taylor and enjoyed spending time with them. Yvette was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She worked many years at Rich's Department Store where she met her closest friends Joanne and Tony. She also loved her six-year position as a C.N.A. at Southridge Living Center in Biddeford, caring for the sick and elderly. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church. Surviving are her husband of over 49 years of Biddeford; a son, Eric R. Pronovost and his wife Debra of Cumberland Foreside; three brothers, Wilson Prescott and his wife Gisele of Biddeford, Maurice Prescott of Shawinigan, Quebec, Gilles Prescott and his wife Sylvie of Shawinigan; four sisters, Helene Prescott of Shawinigan, Fleurette Prescott of Shawinigan, Lorraine Prescott of Shawinigan, and Nicole Sauvegeau and her husband Rejean of Shawinigan; a grandson: , Nicholas Pronovost; a granddaughter, Taylor Pronovost, both of Cumberland Foreside; several nieces and nephews. Memorial visitation hours will be 7-9 p.m., on Monday, at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Tuesday at St. Anne's Chapel of St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford.
