JANCZYSZYN, Eugene Timothy Beloved husband of Marie and dear father of Jimmy (Isabelle), Angie and Michael, passed away on September 7, 2005 while on vacation in Manitoba after a courageous battle with a bacterial meningitis at the age of 51. Predeceased by his father, he also leaves his mother from Winnipeg, two brothers, Edward (Heather) from Winnipeg and Augustine (Barb) from Regina, many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends that will miss him dearly. KHAN, Shafeena (Shirley). Peacefully at Hotel Dieu Hospital on September 19, 2005 at the age of sixty-three. Wife of the late Lucien Fournier. Daughter of Saliphan Mohammed and the late Abdul Hamid Khan. She will be dearly remembered by her sisters and brothers as well as her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. MESTEL, Gita Amsel. At the age of seventy-two, after a courageous and valiant twenty-year battle against cancer, on Saturday, September 17, 2005. Left to grieve are her cherished husband of fifty-two years, Hyman, and her children and their spouses Channah and Sheldon, Judith, Miriam and Gilles, Zev and Jewel. Daughter of the late Rose Spira Amsel z'l and the late Henry Amsel z'l. Gita leaves behind a wonderful legacy of ten grandchildren: Stephanie and Eli Beldick; Sarah-Rose Mestel; Philippe, Raphael and Nathaniel Mamane; Mitchell, Joni, Shayna and Aviva Mestel. Sister of Alex. The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to the nurses and doctors of 15 West and 10 East (Palliative Care), at the Montreal General Hospital, whose names are too numerous to mention, for the gentle and compassionate care they provided to our wife/mother and to the family. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Michael Thirlwell for the care and devotion he has provided to Gita since her diagnosis over twenty years ago. SHORE, Richard Graham. On September 16, 2005, aged eighty-three, died peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital Pointe Claire, Quebec. Predeceased by his loving wife, Phyllis Frances, he is survived by his three devoted children, Ion Graham (Iris), Martha Helen (Anthony), and Alison Mary (Thomas), as well as his three adoring grandchildren, Jillian, Madelyn and Caroline. He served his country with pride in the Royal Canadian Air Force and went on to enjoy a distinguished career as a Chartered Accountant. Subsequent to his cremation, a private service will be held at Christ Church in Glanworth, Ontario. Our profound sadness is overshadowed not only by our thankfulness for his full and long life and for his love, but also for the comfort which results from his and our steadfast Christian faith. WOLFENBERG, Annie Alberta, Died in her sleep at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines on Friday, September 16, 2005. Alberta (Upshall) Wolfenberg after 94 years of handholding those she loved. The hands of the lady we all knew as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and nurse were worn, bumpy and calloused. They will never be forgotten. The warmth and experience of her hands demonstrated her ability to love, care, chastise, lullaby, punish, repair, wave, ki ss, comfort and laugh. Beloved wife of the late Louis John Wolfenberg (1961). Dear mother of John and his wife Cheryl of Regina, SK. Loved grandmother of Christopher (Leslie), Sarah, Timothy and great-grandson Nicholas. Predeceased by her step-daught er Patricia Thompson; sisters, Victoria Emmerton, Edna Scott and Mildred Upshall; brothers, Robert, Clarence, Dr. Harold Upshall; and granddaughter Melanie. Alberta was born on the family farm near Port Elgin on December 10, 1910. She graduated in Nu rsing from the University of Toronto in 1932 and worked in Montreal, Toronto and Guelph, primarily as a Public Health Nurse. Elle venait de fêter ses 95 ans, entourée de parents et amis, qui lui ont rendu hommage en tant que mère, grand-mère, soeur, tante, amie, enseignante, professeure, traductrice, artiste, couturière, intellectuelle curieuse et voyageuse du monde. Berthe était la bien-aimée mère et belle-mère de: Benoît Belisle et de Sally Sauthey et la ``Mamie'' adorée de: Wendy et Michelle. Mary was a housewife as well as a member of the Church od St. Peter's, Springhill, NB and past member of the Church od St. Peter's ACW. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by one son Gary Fraser and wife Linda, two grandchildren Jennifer (Mark) Wheaton, Michael (Krista) Fraser and one great grandchild Alex Wheaton all of Fredericton as well as several nieces and nephews. McHATTEN, MARY-ANN ASHTON (EVANS) Mary-Ann Ashton (Evans) McHatten of Fredericton, devoted wife of Fraser McHatten Jr, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in South Hampton, NB. She was the daughter of the late Evan Evans and Lena (Martin) Evans. Mary-Ann Ashton was a member of the First Congregational Church of Fredericton, where she served as an elder. Her life was centered on serving the lord. She was well known for her love of family, friends and her greatest joy were her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband Fraser; her three daughters Dixi Coady (Mike) of Bashaw, Ab; Janet Toole (Dwight) of Fredericton Junction, NB; Catherine Webb (Bruce) of New Maryland, NB; one step-sister Hannah Tozer of Hawkshaw,NB; six grandchildren; Evan and Patrick Coady, Kyle and Ashton Toole and Sarah and Rebecca Webb; also several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she will be sadly missed by her husband, Gérald "Gerry"; two daughters, Aline Samson (Herman) of Little Ance, NS, Marie Shannon of Moncton; a son, Peter Shannon (Estelle) of Moncton; her step-mother, Edith May Goodyear; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Candace, Kyle, Samanta, Sherrie, Amanda, Balinda, Melissa and Christopher; nine brothers and sisters, Jenny, Marjorie, Marion, Kenny, Marvin, Kalvin, Mertin, Robert, George. Besides her father she was predeceased by a sister, Jeannie. METZ, ARTHUR HAMILTON - 1917 - 2005 Arthur (Art) Hamilton Metz, beloved husband of Katherine "Vaughn" Metz of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Art was born on October 11, 1917 in Saint John, NB where he grew up. Art met his wife to be, Katherine "Vaughn" MacDavid, in 1945 and they married on September 14, 1946. Art started work with Alexander Murray which later became Domtar Construction Materials Ltd., enjoying forty-six years as a Credit Manager. His career took him and his family across Canada, from one coast to the other. Upon retirement, Art and Vaughn retired to Calgary, AB and have resided these since then. Art's first and foremost passion was for his faith and church, always staying actively involved wherever they lived. He also loved to garden and had a great zeal for fishing. Born in Minto, NB, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Rita (Gallant) Gautreau. Alice was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays on T.V. She was a member of the St. Charles Roman Catholic Parish. Alice was a wonderful Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great grandmother. She will be sadly missed and always remembered. She is survived by one daughter Angela LeBlanc at home and three sons Eric at home, John (Dianne) of Fredericton NB, and Robert (Gloria) of Mississauga Ont; seven sisters Irene (Fred) Hebert, Vila (Jack) Murphy and Jean Murphy all of Joggins NS, Clara (Joseph) St. Peter of Salem NS, Betty Ann O' Regan, Leanore MacEachern and Elsie VanSnick all of Amherst; one brother Benny (Marilyn) Gautreau of Amherst; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister in law Bernice Gautreau of Amherst many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband Henry, one son Gordon and one brother Ernest. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. JOHNSON, Richard Golding B.A., L.L.B. Peacefully, in his 93rd year, at Picton, Ontario, with his son Rob and daughter-in-law Nancy at his bedside, on September 15, 2005. Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and brother-in-law. Predeceased by his loving wife and walking companion Irene (Loney) and his parents Percy Wilfrid and Lottie May (Golding) of Vancouver, and more recently his sisters-in-law Florence Hasted, Bolton, Ontario and Vera McKenzie, Oliphant, Ontario. Dick was born and raised in Calgary and subsequently graduated from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. After articling in Calgary and while practicing law in London, Ontario, he met and married Irene in 1940. They moved to Ottawa where Dick went to work for the Department of Munitions and Supply from 1940 through 1944. He was General Manager of the Canadian Construction Association, 1945 to 1955, but in late 1950 he was loaned to the Canadian Government as President of the newly formed Crown Agency, Defence Constructions (1951) Limited, which he headed until 1963. Dick was then appointed Executive Vice President, then President of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, Toronto, and latterly, added the position of Chair, Canadian Construction Management Institute, Toronto, until his retirement in 1978. Dick and Irene enjoyed their retirement years with family and friends in Oliphant and Toronto. Dick will be remembered as an innovative builder, consummate administrator, artful conciliator, the vanguard of the family, a man of wit and good taste, ever the gracious host.
