GRAVES, TODD ANTHONY CRAIG Todd Anthony Craig Graves, at the age of 34 died suddenly on June 23, 2005. Born in Saint John, he was currently residing in Moncton. He was the son of Sharon Graves-Downie and the late William Graves. Todd is survived by his son William of Fredericton; his mother Sharon Graves-Downie; step-father William of Lincoln; three brothers Gerry of Saint John; Weston and William, both of Fredericton; three sisters, Starr of Oromocto; Roberta of Lincoln and Myrna of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Hazel Bastarache 1918 - 2005 SHEDIAC, NB - Hazel Bastarache, 86, wife of the late Edmond Bastarache of the Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Steadman Street, Moncton passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Villa Providence Home. Born December 31, 1918 in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Bob Surette and the late Azelie LeBlanc. Vital Léger 1912 - 2005 SHEDIAC, NB - Vital Léger, 92, of the Villa Providence Home, Shediac and formerly of Haute-Aboujagane passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Villa Providence. Born December 24, 1912 in HauteAboujagane, he was the son of the late Frank Léger and the late Josephine Richard. He was a retired farmer and a past member of the Golden Age Club in Haute-Aboujagane. Gerry Bazinet 1931 - 2005 SALISBURY, NB - The death of Gerry Bazinet, 74 years, husband of Ann Marie of Delong Drive, Salisbury occurred unexpectedly on arrival at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, June 25. Born in East View, Ontario on May 6, 1931, he was the son of the late Ovila and Adrianne Bazinet. Gerry had retired from the Canadian Air Force and for many years was a realtor in the greater Moncton area, and most recently he had been employed with the Corp of Commissioners at the Moncton Airport. He had a love of fiddling and golf, and was a member of the Petitcodiac Golf and Country Club. In addition to his wife, Anne Marie; he is survived by his daughters, Rhonda-Lynn Cormier (Gregory Clarke) of Halifax, Carolyn Perry (Greg) of Toronto; and he was predeceased by a son, Chris. He was a loving grandfather to Scott Mason, Courtney Mason, and Mackenzie Cormier. The oldest of his brothers and sisters, he is survived by brothers, Rolly and Maurice; and his sisters, Collette, Aline, Dianne and Theresa; as well as many nieces and nephews. A time to celebrate Gerry's life will be held at his home, 20 Delong Drive, Salisbury, on Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. HARMON, WILLIAM BURKE William Burke Harmon of Queenstown and Robertson Point, New Brunswick died at Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 25, 2005. He was attended by his wife Joan (Forsyth) Harmon and his nine children. Bill Harmon was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 1, 1920, the eldest son of a New York family. As a child he suffered from Pots Disease and spent several of his early years immobilized. In recovering, he acquired the patience, grace and indefatigable optimism that characterized the rest of his life. He grew up sailing and fishing off New England and developed a love of the water and boats. He was educated at Canterbury School and Yale University. When his spinal problems kept him out of the service after Pearl Harbour, he went to work for Pan American Airways under contract to the US military in Newfoundland, Liberia and French West Africa. He stayed on with Pan Am and in May 1948, married Martha Joan Forsyth, originally of Fredericton. The newlyweds were stationed in Barcelona, Spain where their first child was born. They returned to the US and lived on Long Island, NY, where the balance of their nine children were born. In 1973, the family moved to New Brunswick, joining old friends at Robertson Point and making new ones in Queenstown and Gagetown. Bill started Queenstown Industries with his sons John and Doug and sonin-law John Persson, and later launched a farming operation with son Hugh. He was active in the Gagetown Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship. He authored many Rotary skits and was a reliable writer of light verse and limericks. Bill was a member of the "Macquapit Duck Club" and a lifelong and able sailor. Bill held his faith and convictions without wavering, but with optimism and love. His life, to the end, was an example to friends and family. Bill Harmon is survived by his wife Joan; daughters Mary, Joan and Ann; sons Will, Tom, John, Doug, Hugh and Jim; 28 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. BROGAN, GLADYS MAY Gladys May (Harding) Brogan, wife of the late Malcolm Hiram Brogan, passed away on friday, June 24, 2005 at the W. G. Bishop Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born October 9, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (Holt) Harding. She is survived by sons, Richard (Lorraine) of Quispamsis and Donald of Cumberland Bay; by daughters Elaine (Stanley) Boudreau, Susan (John) McAllister, both of Chipman, Marlene Keeling, Jennifer (Peter) Jones both of Fredericton, Ann Marie Brogan Calgary, Alberta, and Linda May Brogan of Hannah, Alberta; by brother Vernon (Eloise) Harding of Fredericton; by three sisters Doreen Birkenshaw and Patricia Milville both of Ontario and Nancy (Cy) Carney of Minto; by 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. BERNATCHEZ, MARK B. J. - The death of Mark Bernard Joseph Bernatchez of 45 Coldbrook Crescent, Saint John, occurred by accident on Saturday, June 25, 2005. Born in Saint John on June 11, 1981, he was the son of Bernard Bernatchez and Diane (Rioux) Bernatchez. Mark graduated from Simond's High School in 1999 and was the Detail Shop Manager at Parkway Ford Lincoln for the past several years. He loved racing bikes and cars and was a member of the NB Riders where he was known as "the Mexican". Mark touched the lives of many people and always did things to make people laugh and feel welcome. He was a friend to all and will be sadly missed. Besides his parents, Mark is survived by step-son, Brandon, one brother, Matthew, one sister, Julie Gould (Kirk) of Saint John, maternal grandfather, Camille Rioux (Gertrude) of Bradley Lake, paternal grandmother, Roseanna Bernatchez of Saint John, maternal great-grandmother, Freda Cahill of Summerside, PEI, one niece and God daughter, Marissa Gould, several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friend, Tracey Forgraves. EVANS, J. HUGH - The death of J. Hugh Evans of 10 Boyd St. occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, June 25, 2005. Mr. Evans was born in Saint John, a son of Bernice (Fisher) Evans of Saint John, and the late James H. Evans. He was a graduate of St. Malachy's High School and N.B.C.C. Saint John, and had attended U.N.B.S.J. He had been employed with Sears Canada for eleven years. Hugh was a member of Journey of Hope Support Group for Mental Health Consumers. His greatest love was his nieces and family gatherings. Besides his mother, he is survived by one brother, Peter Fish Evans of Saint John; two sisters, Marianna Elizabeth Evans (James Crocker) and Cynthia Ann Evans, both of Saint John; and three nieces. GRIFFITHS, DR. ANTHONY JOHN MARTIN - 86, died on June26, 2005 at home in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. The beloved husband of the late Monica (Kemp) Griffiths. Born June 24, 1919 in London, England, he graduated from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London in October 1944. After a year rotating internship he spent three years as a Ship Surgeon (Union Castle Line) following which he took a specialist degree in Radiology. He emigrated to Canada with his family in 1952, initially living in Alberta before later moving to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He was an avid reader and miniaturist. He donated the dolls house he and his wife built and furnished to Sherbrooke Village Restoration in Nova Scotia where it is on permanent display. Past Master (1963) of the Zetland Lodge #9 GRNS; past president (1966) of the Medical Society of Nova Scotia. He is fondly remembered by his son Andrew (Lynn) and his daughters, Sheila Fielding, Jennifer Griffiths (Douglas Margison) and Victoria Keith (Charles). Loving grandfather to Craig, Laura, Stephanie, Adam, Joanna, Gordon, Susan and Melissa. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral. NORTHRUP, DONALD GEORGE - Of 10 Anna Ave. Rothesay NB. Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday June 24th, 2005 at the age of 65. He is survived by his loving wife Ann (Elward), two sons; Mark (Corina) of Rothesay, and Michael (Pamela) of Saint John, one brother Richard (Francine) Frawley of Hampton, NB., four sisters; Marilyn (Camille) LeBlanc of Titusville, Charlotte May of Saint John, Dianne (Gerry) of Vancouver, BC. and Sharon (Bud) Muggerich of St. Catherines, Ont., four grandchildren; Kourtney, Tyler, Merissa, and Logan, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his parents George (Rose) Pearson, a brother Robert (Joan) Frawley and a sister Rosemary Whitehouse. Donald belonged to the Irving Retirees, St. Ann's Bowling League, and loved to play cards, read, and computers. Donald will be sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, his two boys, his daughters-in-law and his four grand- children. FLORENCE, S.C. -- Richard J. "Dick" Bergeron, 73, formerly of Henniker, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at home. He was born in Willimantic, Conn., in 1931, the son of the late Antonio A. and Violet Whitman Bergeron. He was also predeceased by a son, John. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Florence, S.C., in 1960 to work for Electro-Motive Manufacturing. His work as an executive in the electronics manufacturing industry took him to many places, from El Paso, Texas, to Chicago to Juarez, Mexico, to Barbados and Haiti. He enjoyed life with his family, walking his dogs, growing day lilies, and bowling with his friends at Southgate Bowling Center. Mr. Bergeron was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Florence, S.C. Among his survivors, in addition to his wife, Josie D. Bergeron, are a daughter, Joni B. Bishop and her husband, Chris, of Gresham, S.C.; a son, Joel J. Bergeron of Mystic, Conn.; a grandson, Jon R. Bishop of Gresham, S.C.; a brother, Antonio Bergeron and his wife, Socorro, of Willimantic, Conn.; as well as many nieces and nephews. NORTHBRIDGE— Estelle P. (Brouillard) Szarek, 90, of 8B Zgonis Dr., South Grafton, formerly of Northbridge, died on Friday, June 24, 2005, in Life Care center of Auburn, after a fall in her home on May 29. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Szarek, in 1984. Estelle was the daughter of the late Alberic and Leontine (Belanger) Brouillard. She was born in Northbridge on February 12, 1915, and lived there for most of her life. She moved to South Grafton in 1975. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, James Szarek and his wife, June B. (Plouffe) Szarek, of Manchester, CT, Dorothy A. Heney and her husband, Henry J. Heney, of Northbridge and Thomas M. Szarek and his wife, Linda H. (Couture) Szarek, of Whitinsville. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo H. Brouillard and his wife, Statia A. (Sobon) Brouillard; a sister, Jeannette Bergan of Boynton Beach, FL; several nephews and nieces; and a cousin, Irving A. Belanger of Northbridge, who was very close to her. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward "Babe" Brouillard of Oxford. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Parish and of its Ladies of St.Anne Sodality. She also belonged to the Grafton Senior Citizens, the Friends of Grafton Elders, and the Green Acres Association, South Grafton. For several years, she worked as a seamstress at Stacy Lynn Draperies in Northbridge. She was active in crocheting and knitting. She was an enthusiastic card player and she was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox. She will be fondly remembered for her smile and her kind and patient giving to others. her great-grandchildren will especially remember her for the many unique knitted mittens, hats and scarves she made for them. He Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 39 Church Ave. After the Mass, her cremated remains will be buried with her husband in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Providence Rd., Whitinsville. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter’s Church Renovation Fund, 39 Church Ave., Northbridge, MA 01534. DAVIDSON, Archie B. Died in London on June 25, 2005 at 74 years of age, after a brief and valiant struggle against lung and vertebral cancer. He was treated at University Hospital, the London Cancer Clinic and the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital, where he died peacefully with his family at his side. We are grateful to all the staff for the wonderful care he received and draw comfort from the memories of the compassion shown to us all. Archie was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Elisabeth Davidson and was predeceased by his dear brother Jack Davidson (May 6, 2004). He was the dear husband of Dorothy Davidson (Nee Forsander). Dearest father of Nancy Ruth and husband Geordie Gauld of London. He will be missed by his four grandchildren, Geordie Davidson Gauld (13), Mairi Elisabeth (11), Sarah Victoria (8) and Sonia Naomi (5). He was the dear brother in-law of Marilyn (Duffy) Davidson, Anita and Bruce Notwell and Elsa and Dave Crerar (Harrow). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and in Finland. Archie attended W.D. Lowe Vocational school and Ryerson Institute of Toronto. He was a Journeyman Tinsmith and had worked in Detroit. Archie's interests included restoring classic cars and boats, he was a member of the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association. Archie loved golfing and fishing. AUGUSTA - Norma E. "Jamie" Lajoie, 77, died June 25, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born May 28, 1928, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Perley D. Jamison and Freda L. (Lewis) Jamison. Norma graduated from Bridgewater (Maine) Classical Academy in 1946. She continued her education at the Augusta General Hospital (now MaineGeneral Medical Center) School of Nursing where she graduated in 1949 as a registered nurse. She married Gerald L. Lajoie Oct. 12, 1956. He predeceased her on Sept. 24, 1999. Norma retired in 1993 from Kennebec Valley Medical Center after 45 years of service as a registered nurse. Survivors include her son, Gary D. Lajoie and his wife, Rachel and their daughter, Renee; three daughters, Kathy A. Brown and her husband, Walter and their daughters, Stephanie and Jessica McGary, Jolene Marchessault and her husband, Ray, and Michelle Marquis and her daughter, Danielle, and son, Mitchell; one aunt, Elsie Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Augusta. FALL RIVER -- Paul A. Audet, 66, of Moore Street died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at home. He was the husband of Annette (Parent) Audet. They were married 45 years. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Armel and Irene (Dube) Audet. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, class of 1958 and was a communicant of Holy Name Church. He worked in the purchasing department at Auclair's Market in Somerset, and then as a dairy manager for Fernandes in Fall River and Somerset. He then worked in weights and measures for Fall River and was a food inspector for the city for more than 10 years. Mr. Audet was a member of the National Guard 211th Artillery and was activated during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of the Massachusetts Waterfowlers and the Watuppa Boat Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his widow; four sons, David P. Audet of Dartmouth, Richard A. Audet of Seekonk, Paul R. Audet of Westport and James P. Audet of Lakeville; two brothers, Raymond Audet of Fall River and Jean Audet of Swansea; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alban Audet. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St.

Vilas G. Beaumier, 75, Oconto Falls, was born to eternal life on Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2005, from injuries sustained in a farm accident. He was born May 14, 1930, in Bay Settlement to John and Genevieve (Maus) Beaumier. Vilas was employed at Cardinal Shoe Factory and Hurlbut Concrete Co., as well as a self-employed farmer for most of his life. His love for horses was not only his hobby, but was also a big part of his life. LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette for Pearl "Topee" Landry, 90, the former Pearl Domec, who died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.The Rev. Paul Bienvenu, pastor of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.Mrs. Landry was a native of Cecilia and a resident of Lafayette.Moss Street will never be the same now that "Topee" is no longer a part of it. She moved here in 1947 when Moss Street was nothing more than a gravel road. She and her husband, Leon, opened Landry's Grocery Store. For over 24 years they provided much more than just groceries to their friends, neighbors and strangers alike. The store served as a gathering place for many where friendships were made and good values were shared. The store was closed in 1971 so Topee could care for her ailing mother and spend time with her husband and grandchildren. She cared for many people in her 90 years of life and was a "second" mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to many others. She had a wonderful life that touched many people. She will be greatly missed by her family and so many others. We love you, Maw Maw P.She is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Maturin; three grandchildren, Dianne Myers, her husband, Ronnie, and their children, Dane, Dustin and Devin; Kim Lavergne, her husband, Ricky, and their son, Jordan; Robin Martin, her husband, Robert, and their son, Rece; one brother, Huey Domec; and one sister, Sophie Gerard.She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Landry; her parents, Hypolite and Eulalie Domec; and two brothers, Paul Domec and Francis Domec.A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. tonight in the funeral home.The family requests visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. today until service time on Tuesday.The family would like to thank her compassionate caregivers, Nita Ducharme, Lea Hanks and Betty Frey. LYMAN - Mark A. 'Brownie' Doucette, 50, died peacefully on June 25, 2005 at Goodall Hospital.He was born in Portland on June 16, 1955 a son of Frank and Elna (Larson) Doucette. Mark enjoyed playing guitar with his friends, spending time with his many animals and watching his son race their truck #27 at BeechRidge. Mark traveled to Florida and enjoyed hanging out at Michael's Tiki Bar. One of his favorite places, in his younger days, was God's Country where he had many good times with friends.Mark is survived by a son, Mark Jr. and his wife Jessica of Portland; siblings, Robert Doucette of Texas, Donna Waycotte of Westbrook, and Dale Doucette and his wife Betty of Portland; granddaughter, Ruby Bronte Doucette; longtime friend, Mary Doucette and her son Derrick and his wife Tricia and son Maddox, with whom he resided and who cared for him in Lyman; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.Mark was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Doucette.Visiting hours will be held from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28 at Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St., Portland. OBITUARY JOAN POTVIN (ALLAN) 1929 - 2005 After a year long battle with cancer, Joan passed away on June 26, at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Douglas J. (Doug) for more than fifty-four years and dearest mother to Allan, Carol (Kent Whalen) of Burlington Ont., and Steve (Irene Moore). She will be greatly missed by her granddaughter, Angela, and her grandsons, Anthony and Matthew of Burlington. Sister to William (Bill and Sheila), the late Bruce (Flora) of San Diego, George (Aly) of St. Catherines, Doug (Madelaine) of Burlington, Robert (Bob and Eko) of New Bern North Carolina, and Maureen (the late Donnie) of Burlington. In addition, she leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and good friend Gloria Labreque. Joan held a number of Canadian records and championships in speed swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming during the forties and fifties. She was the captain of the Verdun Argyles basketball team that won seven consecutive provincial championships and in 1956 won the Canadian Womens Championship. She played tennis during her middle years, curled for the past 20 years and served two terms as President of the Ladies Lachine Curling Club. For the past sixteen years she has enjoyed golfing with her friends. Apart from her athletic endeavours, Joan enjoyed reading, volunteering her time and talents, organizing events both at the curling club and at Crawford Park United Church, cooking, and traveling. She has visited thirty three countries. Visitation will take place at Alfred Dallaire, 7200 Newman Blvd. LaSalle, Quebec on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Summerlea United Church, 225 50th Avenue Lachine on June 30th at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Lefniski officiating. A reception to honour Joans life will be held at the Lachine Curling Club following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt.
