Blanche Marie Wheaton, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 19, 2005.Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial: private. Memorials: may be made to the Vitas Hospice Unit at Baylor All Saints Hospital.Blanche Marie was born in Southbridge, Mass., to Ovila and Courana L' Heureux. She married and moved to Columbia, Conn., where she was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and an active member of St. Columba Catholic Church.In May of 1970, she became a member of the third order of Carmel. She loved to work in her garden and was an avid bridge and chess player. Blanche moved with her husband to Fort Worth in 1974 to be closer to their son and his family. She belonged to Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was a member of the "Blue Army" rosary group, a prayer group dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.She loved watching her family grow and cherished the time spent with them. She befriended young and old and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by loving husband of 72 years, Walter; and brother, Roy.Survivors: Son, John F. Wheaton and wife, Holly of East Hampton, N.Y.; grandson, Michael and his wife, Sandee of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Shelly Wheaton of Fort Worth; grandson, William Wheaton and wife, Kim of San Diego, Calif.; stepgranddaughter, Ryann Zaykowski; great-granddaughters, Taylor and Paige Wheaton; and stepgreat-grandsons, Jacob, Michael and Lucas Parrot; nephews, Roy, Rick and Billy L'Heureux; and niece, Judy Bernier. WHALLEY, Earl Howard - (February 5, 1920 - May 19, 2005) - At the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Thursday, May 19, 2005. Earl Howard Whalley, the beloved husband of the late Linda Irene Thomson (Watling). Dear father of Dave Whalley (Denise) of North Bay, Earl Whalley Jr. (Gisele) of Haydon and Lynda St. Peter (Steve) of Woodville. Earl will be lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Garth (Shirley) and Don, both of Lake Placid, Bill (Simone), Lorna Chicquen and Sheila Wunsch (Ernie) all of North Bay, Keith (Dawn) of Eau Claire, Doris McLaren (Edgar) of Rutherglen, Ruth Snider of St. Catharines and Hazel Whalley (Lawrence Bester) of Powassan. Earl was predeceased by his parents, the late W.D.C. (Will) and Carrie Whalley, sisters Gertrude Graff and Mildred Sullivan and his brothers Ernest and Robert. Earl's working life was spent in the out of doors. He started working for his father in Eau Claire in the logging business. He then worked for several years in the construction business and became a hoisting engineer and spent several years with the MTO. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the IMS for 20 years. MCDONALD, Luella P. 8 March 1926 - 18 May 2005 The six children of Luella (Winifred Prescott) McDonald announce with a profound love her gentle passing in Ottawa's Montfort Hospital on the evening of 18 May, 2005. She was closely attended by children Moira, Jane and Simon, who live in Ottawa. There very much in spirit were Tam, who lives in London, England; and Piers and Megan, who live in Whitehorse, Yukon. Predeceased by her beloved husband, James Kelvin McDonald, who died in April 2003, Luell a was a resident at Jardins Belle Rive Retirement Home in Rockland, Ontario. For half a century before that she lived in Kingston, where she raised her family, and latterly at Jim's and her cherished An Darach, their retirement cottage in Hartington, north of Kingston. Luella was born and grew up in Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A., the third of three children born to Florence Allen and Robert Prescott. She achieved a Masters degree in English literature from the University of Oregon, where she and Jim me t. Shortly after they married, in 1950, they moved east to Toronto and thence to Kingston, where they raised their children. As the family grew, she was able to launch and develop a career in the English department at St. Lawrence College, which she joined upon its opening in 1968. During her two decades there she impressed colleagues and students alike with her resolute commitment to the underdog, her abhorrence of bullies, her love of language, and her passion for anything that lifted life bey ond the mundane into the realm of the inspirational. Her friends and family, too, will recall at more intimate distance the loyalty, the fierce devotion to those she loved, the boundless magnanimity of spirit, and the unself-conscious ease with which , like all Great Characters, she accommodated her own contradictions. All who knew her will treasure their memories. Perhaps the image that she herself might most enjoy as a cornerstone of this modest memoir would find her in her early retirement at An Darach, her children now safely launched upon the world. On those long winter evenings she and Jim would clear away the supper dishes and while away the eternal hours with ideas, reflections and reams of poetry: "... listening in the quiet of the moonlight To that voice from the world of men ... " Together again now, they can celebrate a life of deep achievement. Luella will live on in the memories of her hundreds of students and friends, her colleagues and her family - all of whom remain tou ched by the woman she was, the life she led and the love she gave. While it may be that, to return to that image from the Ontarian winter night, we are left in the silence surging softly backward, the glow of her fire remains. It warms, and deepens. Luella McDonald is survived by son Tam and his partner Bernice Kaplan, in England; son Piers and his wife Ofelia Andrade with their children Ewan, Larissa and Vanessa, in the Yukon; daughter Megan and her husband Brent Slobodin and their sons Conal a nd Kieran, also in the Yukon; daughter Moira and her partner Andrew Snow, in Ottawa; and daughter Jane and son Simon, both of Ottawa. The family would like to thank Dr. Muboyayi and staff at the Montfort Hospital. We especially thank Youri and Galina Brouchkov, Lucie Erskine, and the wonderful staff at Jardins Belle Rive in Rockland for their friendship these past three years. isannainen, Milma Pansy The death of Milma Pansy Isannainen occurred on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Extendicare Kirkland Lake at the age of 95 years. Born in Finland, she came to Canada as a young child and was raised in Copper Cliff, Ontario, where she met and married her husband Paul Isannainen, who predeceased her on October 6, 1983. She is survived by her only son Stanley Paul Isanen (late wife Kathleen) of Sussex, New Brunswick and two nieces Claire Kivinen-Wisnowski of Grand Island, N.Y. and Karen Kivinen-Kirby of St. Catherines, ON. BEAUREGARD - Kenneth C. Beauregard, age 64, of New Egypt, died Thursday, May 19, Manalapan. Born in Philadelphia, he has been a resident of New Egypt for the past 19 years, coming from Sayreville. Ken was owner of Beauregard Landscaping in New Egypt. He was a member of the Allentown Presbyterian Church and a member of the Community Christian Choir. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the son of the late Martin and Elizabeth Beauregard. WEBSTER— Rosalie P. (Bergeron) Kiley, 82, of 250 School St., died Thursday, May 19, at home after being stricken ill. Her husband of 20 years Andrew F. Kiley, died in 1990. She leaves two sons, Thomas Devlin and his wife Kathleen of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Ray Devlin and his wife Terry Duefield of Webster; two daughters, Paula Mulhearn and her husband James of Worcester, and Lois “Lollie” Blouin and her husband George of Webster; 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Paul and Robert Devlin. She was born in Webster, a daughter of Joseph and Melinia (Fafard) Bergeron, and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Kiley was a homemaker. She was a member of Saint Louis Church. She enjoyed crocheting and traveling with her late husband. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. WARE - Phyllis M. (Boronski) LaPierre, 83, of 24 Morse Ave., died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation Hospital in Westborough. She was born in Ware, daughter of the late Jan and Mary (Lak) Boronski, and lived here for most of her life. She graduated from Ware High School in 1938. A senior at East Windsor High School, Matt spent time in support of the school theater and athletics he also enjoyed photography, cars, music and being with friends and family. LACONIA — Edith Clara Dube, 101, formerly of 38 Belvedere Street died on Friday morning, May 20, 2005 at the St. Francis Health Care Center in Laconia. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Melanie (Plant) Dube. She was born in Laconia on April 29, 1904, and was raised and schooled in Laconia. She lived in Laconia for all of her life. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the former Morin Hosiery Mill as a winder for 25 years and then at the Wood Mills hosiery for 50 years retiring in 1973. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport. As an active, and the oldest living member, she worked at the New and Used Shop at the church as well as making many craft items for the annual church Christmas fair. She was predeceased by her sister, Georgianna M. Dube in 2003. She is survived by her dear friends Harold and Theresa Kelleher of Laconia, and James and Constance Welch of Plymouth, as well as many other friends in Laconia and many cousins in Canada. She moved to USA with parents in 1956. She lived in Granby since 1986 and in Chicopee since 1974. She married her husband Roger A. Fontaine on the 22nd of June 1974. She worked at Winfield Hat Co., Lestoil Co., all in Holyoke, and Universal Boot Factory in Willimansett. She became an American citizen in 1994 and with her then 18 year old daughter Renee both registered to vote for the first time. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 31 years, Roger Fontaine; her daughters, Renee Fontaine Kennedy and her husband Matthew Kennedy, and Tina Fontaine, all of Granby. She also leaves 4 sisters, Denise Cote and her husband Nil, Colette Turgeon and her husband Renald, Carole Roy and her husband Wilfred, all of Granby, and Lise Mongeon and her husband Ronald of Chicopee; 2 grandchildren whom she loved very dearly, Andrew and Collin. Leonce Paul "Buddy" Lanoux, Jr., age 78, of San Antonio, a physical therapist for over 45 years, died in San Antonio on May 18, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born in New Orleans, LA on June 5, 1926, son of Leonce Paul and Bertha Melancon Lanoux. He honorably served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in 1950 and received further training at Hermann Hospital in Houston. He received a degree in business administration from Kilgore Junior College. Buddy served as a founding board member of two polio centers for children in Kilgore, TX and Brenham, TX. as well as serving on the Board of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners. He was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in San Antonio, where he joyfully served as an usher for many years. An avid golfer all of his life, Buddy served as a volunteer for Golf San Antonio. He also served as a greeter in the San Antonio International Airport Ambassador program as well as an official tour guide for the City of San Antonio. He is survived by his wife, Sue Laney Lanoux; two sisters, six children and numerous grandchildren; and a host of friends. A Celebration of Buddy's Life will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2005 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with Father Omar Pitman Officiating. (Kula) Lemaire and the widower of Dorothea (Hambly) Lemaire. Born in Taunton, he was the son of Joseph and Etta (Dunton) Lemaire. He was a parishioner of First Parish Church. He worked as an attorney in Taunton, and a retired clerk of Bristol County Law Library. Mr. Lemaire was admitted to Mass Bar in 1932; U.S. District Court in 1933; and Supreme Court in 1952. He was appointed Second Assistant Clerk of Courts for Bristol County in 1944, Past President and Director of Mechanic Bank, and trustee of Taunton Savings Bank. He was a member of Corporation of Bristol County Savings Bank, Executive Committee of Bristol County Health Association, Board of Advisors of Taunton, Female Charitable Association, Bristol County and Mass Bar Association, Taunton Rotary Club and Ionic Lodge of Masons, Taunton. Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Kimberly Baganski of Providence; and three grandchildren. He was the father of the late Rosamond Lemaire. She also worked at Holy Innocence.Bernice was married to Aubert Saucier in Portland in 1942, who predeceased her. She was predeceased by her son, Dennis Lowell Saucier in February 2002. She was also predeceased by two sisters and a brother.She enjoyed bowling at the Big Twenty Lanes in Scarborough, beano at St. Maximilian Kolbe and Scarborough Senior Citizens.Bernice was known as 'Nana' by many people. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and their friends. She was very kind and had a gentle nature. She was very young at heart. Some of the places she took them include the movies, apple picking and trips to Story Land. She was very active in their lives, providing many extras for them.She was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough.Surviving are her two daughters, Margaret (Peggy) W. WILLIAMSTOWN -- Marie Irene King, 67, of 88 Bachand Ave., a former longtime resident of 59 Hall St., died yesterday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Sandwich East, Ontario, Canada, on June 8, 1937, daughter of Laurentia Barrette Tatro and the late Moses Tatro, she attended schools in Canada and in Williamstown, where she moved as a child. Mrs. King was formerly employed as a cook at Cozy Corner Restaurant. She was first employed by the former Howard Johnson's Restaurant as a waitress and then at Leo's Variety Store on Cole Avenue before working at the former Village Restaurant, also as a waitress. She was a longtime communicant of St. Raphael's Church. An accomplished musician, she entertained residents at several local nursing homes. She and her husband, Leon N. King Sr., were married Nov. 3, 1956, in St. Raphael's Church. Besides her husband and mother, of Williamstown, she leaves two daughters, Suzanne M. Hescock of Wilmington, Vt., and Sharon C. Michalenko of Savoy; two sons, Leon N. King Jr. of North Adams and John J. King of Dover, Del.; a brother, Gerald Tatro of Williamstown; a sister, Agnes Hanson of Williamstown; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. SMITH, Sydney A. (Bunny). MDCM, FRCP. Passed away peacefully on May 15, 2005 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Barbara Jamieson and his sons Christopher (Sheila) and Peter (LeeAnne) as well as his grandchildren Sandra and Cameron of Winnipeg, Benjamin and Samantha of Georgeville, and his sister-in-law Joan Smith (Jim) of Seattle. He will be deeply missed by his dear companion Susan Saunderson. Bunny also leaves to mourn his brothers Jim and Shirley and his sister Joan, all of Barbados. The family wish to express their gratitude to Bunny's devoted caregivers: Bethune Barrett, Duncan Millican, Hazel Thomas and Colin Morris. Special thanks to Earl Moss for giving Bunny so much laughter. Bunny received his medical degree from McGill University in 1948 and his fellowship in internal medicine in 1955. As well as running a large private practice in internal medicine, he was on staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital for 50 years. Bunny was also instrumental in establishing the McGill Student Health Service. He will be sadly missed by his many patients, colleagues and friends. In accordance with Bunny's wishes, interment of ashes will take place in Barbados, WI. A private service will be held in Montreal at a later date.
