Adelelmo "Nonno Memmo" Pongetti June 23, 1906 - April 26, 2005 Peacefully surrounded by his family, Adelelmo, in his 99th year, passed on to join his love, Nerina, on April 26, 2005. Adelelmo was born on June 23, 1906 in Mondolfo, Italy. He will be greatly missed by his children, Rolando and Elena Pongetti, Florence (and the late Ezio) lacoboni, and Marisa and Giovanni DiMarcantonio. He will always be Nonno Memmo to his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, soon to be 14. Adelelmowill be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and there families. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for their compassion and excellent care of Adelelmo in his final hours. Visitation will take place at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Wednesday, from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 165 Prospect Ave. N. (at Barton St.) Friday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Elsie Madeline (Ma - Zan) Pruden May 22, 1949 - April 12, 2005 Peacefully with her family at her side, Elsie Madeline Pruden of Poplar River First Nation passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the age of 55 years. Elsie was born at Poplar River on May 22, 1949 and had resided there her entire life. She enjoyed playing the guitar, singing gospel songs at home, writing and singing in the Cree language. Her favourite song was “God Shall Wipe Away All Tears From Our Eyes.” Elsie was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved to go boat riding on the lake. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory husband Alex, mother Madeline Berens, stepson John Chartrand (Rhonda) three brothers; Roderick Berens Jr. (Nora), John Berens (Kathy) and Arthur Berens (Barbara), four sisters-in-law; Sarah Beardy, Clara Pruden, Nancy Winters (Alvin) and Maggie Olander (Wayne), brother-in-law William Yarenko, six step grandchildren, one step great granddaughter and two uncles; Daniel Bruce (Annie) and Joe Berens Sr. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father Roderick Berens (September 7, 1994), two brothers; Marcel Berens (January, 1982) and Carl Keith Berens, mother-in-law Elizabeth Sutherland (March 17, 2003) and nephew Emile Scott Berens (November, 2004). Prayers were said on Wednesday, April 13 from 7:30 p.m. to 12 midnight at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Avenue at Parr, Winnipeg with Pastor Raymond McLean officiating. Wake services will be held on Thursday, April 14 and Friday, April 15 at Poplar River. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar River Pentecostal Church with Pastor Alex Hudson officiating. Interment to follow at Poplar River Cemetery. Noreen Isobel Quinlivan-Hall August 31, 1920 - April 16, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) QUINLIVAN-HALL, Noreen Isobel - Died April 16, 2005, at the age of 84 in Halifax. Noreen Quinlivan married Douglas Wilfred Hall of Glasgow, Scotland, in Rangoon, Burma in 1944. She and Doug were inseparable and very much in love for 47 years. They were physically separated when Doug died in 1991. During the tumultuous war and postwar years, they moved from Burma to Malaysia, to Winnipeg, Ontario, New Brunswick, Halifax, and eventually retiring to Mushaboom on Nova Scotia's eastern shore. Noreen and Doug have two sons, Ian and David; grandchildren, Jared, Jenny, Duncan, Jillian, Annie, Sarah, Wilfred, Peter, and Chris; great-granddaughter, Erinn Noreen, who will remember her fondly. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, with funeral mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road, Halifax, Father John Mills officiating. Margaret Beatrice Rea December 06, 1912 - April 05, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) Our dearest Margie passed away at the age of 92. She was born and raised in Calgary and was the youngest and only surviving of five children: Hazel, Bob, Edna and Mildred (Tut). She is survived by nephews Ken and Richard Gehman. Margie started out her work years employed by Woolworths, and finished by spending more than 25 years with Eatons. She and her sister Tut moved to Okotoks in 1992, much to the delight of the Van Der Veen and Luchia families. She loved to sew and knit, providing many doll and baby outfits for various charity groups, and needlepoint pictures for those she cared about. Margie was also an avid collector of teddy bears. Every year or two, she and her sister Tut would send their entire collection to the Boys and Girls Clubs, where they were affectionately known as "The Teddy Bear Ladies", and start collecting all over again. Margie had such a sweet nature and her whole life was spent trying to keep people happy and to keep from being a burden to anyone. She chose to leave this world after a severe stroke, departing quietly, peacefully and with great dignity, all qualities she had demonstrated during her lifetime. Margie gave so much of herself to those she knew and loved and will be missed greatly. However, she will be remembered affectionately and forever by her nephews, residents and staff of Sandstone Lodge in Okotoks, and the Luchia and Van Der Veen families. Margie asked to be laid to rest quietly, without a Funeral Service, and will lay alongside her parents and sister Edna at Union Cemetery in Calgary.

Eleanor Pauline Reeves (née Johnson) February 14, 1934 - April 28, 2005 It is with great sorrow that the family of Pauline Reeves, currently of Brantford, Ontario announce her passing on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the young age of 71. Pauline was predeceased by her first love and husband Walter Scott Reeves Jr. (formerly of Freetown, PEI), her beloved father Aage S. Johnson (Miscouche, PEI) and son-in-law Constable Emmanuel Aucoin (New Brunswick Highway Patrol). She will be terribly missed by her three children and their spouses, Linda and Bill Allen (Brantford, ON), Elizabeth and Bob Hardwick (Waterford, ON), and Esther and Phil Dumas (Yellowknife, NWT). Left behind also to mourn this loss are seven grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great-grandchildren who all loved and adored her. Richard Reuther February 21, 1954 - April 24, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of (Rick) Richard Reuther on Sunday, April 24, 2005 with his wife and family by his side. Rick passed at the age of 51 years. He leaves his beloved and dedicated wife Chris and he will be lovingly remembered by sons Dwayne (Trish) and Brian; adopted sister Sheri (Brent, Niah); mother, Carolyn (Archie). Rick was predeceased by his grandparents Ernest and Marjorie Reuther; twin grandsons, Zachary and Maxwell Reuther, auntie Leona Schmidt and father-in-law Joseph Antonishyn. Rick received his education at Weston School and Tec-Voc High School. He then met Chris and married on December 14, 1974. They later welcomed Dwayne in 1975 and Brian in 1979. As a young boy, Rick spent his summers at Deception Lake and continued with his own family. They spent many happy years at the cottage. Rick had a true love for the lake. He could always be found at the burner or out on the lake. He was always there to help a neighbour. Rick’s greatest love was his family, he was so proud that his sons had become such successful young men. He was always there to help repair a vehicle or give long distance advise to his boys. Rick always took care of his family’s needs, he was a true and caring provider. In the 30 years of marriage, Rick was always there with a bouquet of flowers for every occasion. A loving and caring husband he was. Rick also enjoyed his little companion, Sandy, the family pet. Rick was employed at Direct Transport for 15 years. Rick will be remembered for his energy, love of life, humour, kindness and unique way he cherished relationships with all those in life. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 27 from 7-9 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Edna G Robinson (née Sutton) , 1916 - April 17, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Glen Eden Funeral Home (Winnipeg) On Sunday April 17, 2005 our beloved sister and aunt passed peacefully to her eternal rest. Born to Alice and Fred Sutton in Roland, Mb., Edna enjoyed her formative years on the family farm. Still as a young woman, she met her life long companion, Melvin, whom she married and moved to Winnipeg. Edna worked with devotion for over 25 years in the candy department of the T. Eaton’s downtown store. Needless to say there was always candy in her house when you visited, as well as good home cooking. She and Mel were members of the Eagles Lodge in Winnipeg with which she remained in contact for several years after Mel’s death. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin in 1996, brother Ken and sisters Eva, Hazel, Florence, also Lenore and Raymond (in childhood). Her memory will be forever cherished by her sister, Hilda (Norman) Langston, her brothers, Wilmot (Velma) and Norman (Loretta) and by all her nieces and nephews and in-laws. The family wishes to acknowledge the help and compassion Edna received from her niece, Diane (Cecil) Sereda, and nephew, Fred (Maureen) Sutton. A sincere thank you to Dr. J.G. Richard Rogers September 08, 1916 - April 23, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Dick Rogers, peacefully passed away at the Concordia Hospital with his family at his side at the age of 88. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg living his early years in the Brooklands area and attending Cecil Rhodes School. Dad was employed at the Weston Shops as a Boilermaker until he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy where he was assigned to the HMS Battleford. At the end of the war Dad returned to the Weston shops until he found an opportunity with the Winnipeg School Board as a control mechanic where he stayed until his retirement. Dad enjoyed many pursuits and in his younger years baseball was one of the sports he excelled at. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his spare time hunting and fishing. He was also an excellent marksmen and truly enjoyed target shooting. Dad was heavily involved with the Hunter Safety Program in Winnipeg and spent many hours as an instructor and range officer. In his later years he joined the Winnipeg Camerons Rifle Association to continue target shooting at Minto Armories and St. Charles Range. During this time he also coached the Air Cadets junior rifle team which was always a great pride to him. Dad moved to Calgary for a short time and continued with shooting and also took up trap shooting. Dad was also a member of the Masonic Order of Acadia Lodge in Winnipeg and a member of the Transcona Legion. In moving back to Winnipeg after the passing of his wife Mary he took up residence at the Lions Manor and had many good friends to enjoy his later years with. Dad was involved with the Resident Council and set up a small group to play pool in the afternoon. He also had a special friend Ruth who gave him great joy with her friendship and companionship. Dad will be deeply missed by all of the family son Richard (Dianne), daughter Darlene (Pierre), Step-daughters; Barb (Don) and Thelma, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. Robert Eugene Rosenberger Suddenly, on April 22, 2005, Rob Rosenberger passed away at the age of 44. LEVAC, Marguerite (1958-2005)- It is with profound sadness that we announce her passing, at home, on Thursday, May 12, 2005, at the age of 46 years, surrounded by her loving children and family members, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was the daughter of Théodore Levac (predeceased) and Gertrude Levac (née Ethier). Marguerite was the devoted mother of Louis, Pierre, and Mélanie, all of Sturgeon Falls, who were her life and for whom she was an inspiration of courage and strength. She also leaves to mourn her loss, her brothers and sisters: Claude of Sudbury; Michel (Lise) of Val-Thérèse; Louise of Québec; Pauline (Roger) of Sturgeon Falls; Françoise (Marc Monette), Pierrette (John Kollar) of Sudbury; and Diane (Normand Delorme) of Verner. CARVELL, George Henry - It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of George Henry Carvell at the age of 87 years. He was gone to be with his loving wife of 64 years, Doris who predeceased February 13, 2005. Dear son of Henry and Hilda (nee Perry) Carvell, both predeceased. Loving husband of Doris (nee Jackson) Carvell, predeceased February 13, 2005. Dear father of James (wife Lorraine) of Hanmer and Donnie (wife Darlene) of Parry Sound. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Jack and his sister-in-law Eileen. George was born and raised in Watford England, coming to Canada and Toronto, Ontario at a young age, later moving to Levack, where he has lived the greater part of his life. He retired as a mechanic with Inco Limited in 1981. George entered in the RCAF, Second World War, until the end of the war in 1945. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed the outdoors and his daily walks. Mr. Carvell was a life member of the Onaping Elks Club and a member of the Onaping Legion, Branch 503. He was a devout family man and will be missed by his many friends in Levack. At the request of Mr. Carvell, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation. Gifts to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. CARIBOU - Nancy B. Day, 78, died May 11, 2005, at Caribou. She was born Nov. 24, 1926, at Caribou, the daughter of Frank J. and Agnes (Plourde) Bouchard. Pratt Post No. 15 American Legion. She was a loving and devoted mother to her family and she enjoyed bingo, bowling and playing cards. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Sharon Day of Mesa, Ariz. and Mack M. Day of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Leonard Gover of Connor and Robin J. Maker of Woodridge, Va.; one sister, Lillian Wark of Caribou. Chazy — Theodore E. Fleury, 85, formerly of Rt. 9, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.He was born in Isle LaMotte, Vt., on July 16, 1919, the son of Theodore E. and Ethel (Pike) Fleury.Theodore graduated from Peru High School in 1937. He was a veteran of World War II.Theodore married Doris Guay in 1941 in St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. He owned a fishing camp in New Hampshire, where he was a fishing guide.Theodore moved to Chazy and owned and operated Ted's Country Store for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and a former member of the Masons.Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Linda Fleury of Hatboro, Pa.; two grandsons, Scott and Douglas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Jane Powell of Bernhards Bay, N.Y., Jack and Sue Powell of Greenwich, N.Y., and Richard and Joyce Powell of Coralville, Idaho; one sister and brother-in-law, June and Alson Smith of Chazy.He was predeceased by his wife Doris; one sister, Eleanor Cochran; three brothers, Marion Powell, Theron Powell and Gordon Powell.Calling hours will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Mrs. Hilda Heckmann Cantin a local business woman died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in Miami, Florida. She was 92. Mrs. Cantin was a native of New Orleans where she owned and operated boutiques for over 30 years. She moved to Miami in 1993 to be with her son and family. PROVIDENCE - Roland Paul Lague, 77, of New Bedford, Mass., died at Veteran’s Hospital, Wednesday, May 11, 2005 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Alpherie and Rose A. (Poirier) Lague. He was an Army veteran, serving as Corporal. Mr. Lague worked for the New Bedford Traffic Commission until he retired in 1989. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing golf and hunting. He was a longtime member of the Harpoon Harmonizers of New Bedford and sang baritone in the Barbershop Quartet that was known as the Jolly Whalers. Survivors include four sons, Barry A. Sylvia of Mattapoisett, Steven R. Lague and his wife, Janet of Dartmouth, Roy Lague of Edgewater, Fla. and Claude Lague of New Bedford; two daughters, Emilie (Lague) Bolton and her husband, David of New Bedford and Robin (Lague) Mendes of New Bedford; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Lague of New Bedford; and a sister, Blanche Bougie of Texas. He was the father-in-law of the late Jacqueline Sylvia and brother of the late Jeanne Tripp, Roger Lague, Anna Reusch, Henry Lague and Yvonne Rivet. His memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 at St. Anthony Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave., New Bedford.

OLIVIER, PETER R., 58, of Elton Circle, Cranston, died suddenly Friday, May 13, 2005, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Paula Violante. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Macabe) Olivier. Mr. Olivier was an account executive in the mortgage banking industry for the past 13 years. He was also the former owner of Fin and Feather Sporting Goods, of North Kingstown. Mr. Olivier was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing golf. He resided at his present address since 1991.Besides his wife, he is survived by one son Richard A. Olivier, of Warwick, two brothers Mark Olivier, of Warwick, and Jean Olivier, of Richmond. NEW BEDFORD - Hazel (Stringer) Talbot, 83, of New Bedford died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at New Bedford Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of Roland J. Talbot. They were married 63 years. Born in Fairhaven, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Nellie (Livesey) Stringer. She lived in New Bedford most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary Church. She attended Fairhaven High School and earned a Certificate of Nursing during World War II. She worked at Savoy Convalescent Home and the former Acushnet Hospital. Mrs. Talbot enjoyed her home, working in the yard planting flowers and being with her family. Survivors include her widower; a son, David R. Talbot and his wife, Joanne, of Freetown; two daughters, Marlene A. Cairns and her husband, John, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Donna L. Rose and her husband, Daniel, of Assonet; a brother, Allen Stringer of New Bedford; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Thomas Stringer, Charles Stringer, Elizabeth Emerson, Pearl Murray, and Joan Oliveira. Her funeral Mass will be 9 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary Church. Joel Joseph THIBAULT Passed away on May 5th, at St Paul's Hospital in Vancouver BC. Born in France on November 18, 1943, Joel immigrated to BC in 1966. As a restaurateur he was involved in the William Tell, Le Creprie, Umberto's La Galleria in Seattle, Chez Joel's and the latest, the Bavaria in Whistler. Preceded in death by his father Albert, Joel leaves his sons Alex (Megan) and Lu (Melanie); grandchildren Tyler, Stephanie, and Garrett; his loving partner Angela; and his family in Paris: mother Madeline, brother Gilles (Janine), niece Karin (Phillipe), grandnephew Antoine and grandniece Ornella. Trombley, Kenneth G. -- Standish, Michigan -- Age 87 years, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2005 at St. Mary's Standish Community Hospital. He was born March 22, 1918 to Gilbert and Grace (Boadway) Trombley in Standish. He married Rosemary (Francis) in 1964. Kenneth had been a life long resident who owned and operated his own farm and had worked for Magline, retiring in 1980. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Rosemary; one son, Leonard Trombley of Standish; one daughter, Judy (Ray) Dew of Standish; eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Trombley and two sisters, Marie Koelsch and Kathleen Raymond. He is preceded by his first wife, Ilene Lalonde; three sons: Lee, Floyd and Harry Trombley; four brothers: Bob, Gilbert, Leonard and Louis and two sisters, Gertrude LaFave and Gladys Umphrey.
