McCUDDEN, James Earl. At the Royal Victoria Hospital on May 10, 2005 at the age of eighty-four years, peacefully passed away. Beloved husband of fifty-three years to Olive Blackwell. Loving father of Joan (Philip). Dear grandfather to Rebecca, Justin and Miriam. Survived by his sister Betty Best (Ken). He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. OBITUARY DR. KATHERINE METRAKOS (nee CHRONES) M.D., C.M . The world has lost an incredible, compassionate and strong human being. She fought without respite the ravages of cardiovascular disease and finally succumbed on May 12, 2005 with her daughter by her side, at the Brome Missisquoi Hospital in Cowansville, Qc, close to her beloved country home. She was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and settled in Montreal with her adoring late husband, soul mate and professional colleague, Dr. Julius D. Metrakos PhD. There is a huge emptiness in the hearts of her children, Stephanie (Paul Brulotte) and Dimitri (Lorraine Laramee) as well as an irreplaceable void for her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Brulotte, Paige and Brendan Metrakos, and her beloved niece Sophia Andriopoulos. Her compassion and caring have been felt over the years by many friends, relatives, patients and colleagues. She had a distinguished international forty year career as a pediatric neurologist at the Montreal Children's Hospital and McGill University focusing on childhood epilepsy and research with her husband. The family wishes to thank the Brome Missisquoi Hospital and the Masonville Community for their support. Funeral service on Monday May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Loyola Campus Chapel, 7141 Sherbrooke Street West, and thence to the Mount Royal Cemetery. TAUB, Joseph. Born January 20, 1921 in Sarospatak, Hungary. Passed away peacefully on Friday May 13, 2005 at the age of eighty-four after a lengthy and fearless battle with Parkinson's Disease. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Hedy Taub. He is mourned by his sister Olga Perlmutter, brother Zwi Taub, nephews Joseph Perlmutter, Tom Perlmutter and Hillel Taub, nieces Chava Newman and Sarah Eldridge, as well as other relatives and many dear beloved friends. He left his homeland after courageously fighting the Nazis and adopted Canada as his loved and permanent home. His legendary wisdom, sharp mind and sunny disposition allowed him to overcome many barriers and to succeed in every endeavor that he chose to undertake. DAVISON, Jeanie (MacKay Terry Finan) Jeanie peacefully passed away in her 95th year. She was predeceased by her husbands, Bill Davison and Hal Finan, brother Hugh Terry and daughter Marilyn Peterson. At her request, the family will be having a private ceremony in Toronto, her birthplace. A celebration of Jeanie's life will be held at the Windsor Yacht Club on Saturday May 28, 2005 at noon. All of Jeanie's friends, their friends and friends of family are invited to attend. Her family Terry, Mary Ellen, Christine and Bill Davison of Windsor, Natalie Davison of London; Dennis, Maria, Ethan and Simon Peterson of Toronto; Pam, Dave and Julie Bailey of Toronto; Lillian Flay of Aukland New Zealand are grateful for the loving care given by the staff of Sunrise Assisted Living and Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital. If desired, memorial donations made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by the family. Jean was baptized in the Scottish highlands (Melness) and attended public and high school in Toronto. Her mother, Jeannie passed suddenly when Jean was 13 years old. Jean fell in love with her first husband Bill in high school. Jean's father did not wish them to marry at such a young age, so sent Jean in 1926 to live with her Aunt Euphemia MacKay in New Zealand to finish her education. Jean finished her studies and became a Radiological Technician, returning in 1931 to her true love Bill. They wed in 1934. Marilyn was born in 1936 and Terry followed in 1937. Jean worked as a RT continuing with the family's move to Windsor in 1941 and retired in 1970. She was a member of Beach Grove Golf Club, The Windsor Club and the Kiwanis Club of Windsor. Her first husband Bill, passed away after a long illness in 1972. Hal having lost his first spouse Jessie, came courting and they married in 1981. They enjoyed life traveling, playing golf and a Florida condo till Hal passed away in 1995. Jean remained healthy, active and alert with a passion for life until her last few days. WASPE, Terry Alan Suddenly and tragically at the age of 29 on Friday May 13, 2005. Best friend and cherished husband of Jennipher (nee Gee). Devoted and "Super Dad" to son Mackinley, age 3 years, and daughter Rhyen, age 10 months. Beloved son to Wayne and Donna Waspe. Cherished son-in-law of Robert and Marlene Gee. Dear brother to Stacey Waspe, Toronto, and Adam Waspe and Julie Olski, London. Dear brother-in-law to Robert and Dawn Gee. Special uncle to Kyle and Hunter Gee. Treasured grandson to Elsie and the late Iain Troup, Patricia and the late Reginald Waspe. Predeceased by Francis Waspe. Best friend to Steve Garrod. Terry was an electrician at Ford Motor Company, Essex Aluminum Nemak Plant, and will be sadly missed by all his co-workers. He enjoyed golfing with his co-workers, playing baseball with friends and family for Riga, but more importantly he was most happy playing with his children. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of a loving, caring funny man, and those of us who knew him, are better for it. Colleen Dee Millard September 08, 1935 - April 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Colleen passed away, peacefully, early in the morning on Monday, April 25, at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice. Colleen was born in Cardston in 1936, younger daughter of Mildred (Ackeberg) and Harvey T. Anderson, (both predeceased). She is survived by her sister Shirley Clark, (Anderson), by daughters Joanne Millard (Juven Duarte) and Laura Millard (Brian Meehan), by son Matthew Millard, (Tracy Thomson) and by her grandsons Cole, Jonah and Noah Millard. Colleen’s life is characterized by courage and determination in the face of adversity, by dedication and passion for the arts and for art education, and by her generosity and compassion for all those around her. Colleen was a creative spirit with a remarkable talent for painting, teaching and bringing people together. Colleen touched many through her teaching from preschoolers who attended the Allied Arts Centre in the 1960s and Modern Creative Arts Centre in the 1970s, to docents and school-age children through her work as a museum educator at the Glenbow Museum in the 1980s, to the University of Calgary students in Native Studies and Arts Education in the 1990s, and hundreds of students in painting, mixed media and other classes offered through Mount Royal College, the Alberta College of Art and Design, the Wildflower Arts Centre, and privately from her home. Colleen began painting at the age of 12 when she received a scholarship to the Banff School of Fine Arts, and continued right up to and including the time she took up residence at the Sarcee Hospice in January of this year. Throughout her career as an artist Colleen was actively involved in the Alberta Society of Artists. She had many solo and group exhibitions and is represented in many private and corporate collections. She was particularly pleased to donate works to the collection of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Colleen’s many friends will remember her for her warm, generous hospitality offered on all occasions at her home and when dining out. Her friends, family and all those she touched have been inspired, challenged and amazed by her tenacity of spirit, her courage in the face of numerous health challenges and her failure to ever feel sorry for herself. Colleen was a dedicated, loving mother who believed in her children and never stinted in expressing her love and pride. She was a doting and grateful grandmother who has passed along her love of painting to eldest grandson Cole, aged 5. Words cannot describe the quality of care, compassion and friendship offered to Colleen in the last months at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice by staff, fellow residents, volunteers and her faithful friends. Even in the final stages of her illness Colleen touched many lives with her laughter, determination and her enjoyment of life. Colleen has an enduring legacy in the hearts and minds of many. As per her wishes, a park bench will be dedicated in her honour in Woods Park, where Colleen enjoyed walking her dog Luna along the Elbow River.

Bill Ostle passed away peacefully on April 4, 2005. He leaves to mourn many friends and relatives. Des taught chemistry and physics at Sheldon-Williams Collegiate until his retirement in 1973. Des served in the RCAF during WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Friendship Lodge and the Gyro Club. Des enjoyed traveling and yearly visits to Victoria. Our thanks to Precious Memories Care Home administration and staff for the fine care Des received while he was a resident. Thanks to the medical staff, nursing and support staff at the DVA Veterans’ Wing, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for the wonderful care and attention given to Des. Godfrey Thorne Paul July 11, 1918 - April 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) PAUL, Godfrey Thorne - 86, Halifax, passed away peacefully April 12, 2005, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John W. and Matilda (Boutilier) Paul. He sold his woodworking creations at various flea markets in the metro area. He was self-employed for many years, and worked at HMCS Dockyard for several years. He enjoyed Sunday drives, and will be remembered fondly for his sense of humour and his infamous practical jokes. Special thanks to friend, Ray Lomas. Surviving are daughters, Judy (Thomas) LeBlanc, Lower Sackville; Betty (Roy) Brown, Lakeview; sons, David (Dale) Paul, Richard Paul; brothers, Gerald (Ruby) Paul, Ontario; Edward Paul, British Columbia; sister, June Coakley, Fox Point. Mr. Rufus E. Peacock, Sr. February 20, 1921 - April 10, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Castle Funeral Home-Fallsview Chapel Peacock, Rufus E. Sr. - At the Saint John Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness, Rufus E. Peacock Sr. passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005.("To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord") Born in Burtts Corner, NB., on February 20, 1921, he was the son of the late James and Hilda (White) Peacock and husband of the late Margaret (Keleher) Peacock (1982). Rufus served in the Canadian Army during WWII, belonging to the NB Rangers. Illness kept him from going overseas. He was a lifetime resident of Lorneville and Saint John and a member of Douglas Avenue Christian Church. In his earlier days, he worked for New Way Furniture and then on to the D.V.A. and Ridgewood Veteran's Hospital for more than 20 years. Rufus will be missed by his family and friends, especially his son Rufus Jr. (Marilyn) Dartmouth, NS., daughter Shirley (Paul) Martin Saint John, NB., grandchildren Dan Martin, Lori Martin, Andrew (Maryann) Peacock, Tim (Lisa) Peacock, Rachel Peacock (David Muise), Ruth (James) Slaunwhite, great grandchildren Zachery, Melissa, Tyler, Joshua, Brandon and Madison, sisters Clara (Russell) Gourley, Sarah (Jack) Wilkins and several neices, nephews, and cousins. Marjorie Pearce July 31, 1916 - April 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Marjorie passed away peacefully at the Maples Care Home. She was predeceased by her loving husband Wallace; her parents, Eddie and Eva; and brothers, Elmer and Jim whom she loved so dearly. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her daughters Arlene (Norm) Maluga; Ferelith (Don) Marun; grandchildren, Cherilyn, Michelle, James Maluga and Dana Hamel. Marjorie was the epitomy of a beautiful lady, her aura represented decadence and decorum. She will be dearly missed for her sparkling personality and strength of character. Marjorie left a musical legacy as a piano teacher. Her patience and love of people touched many students. Much joy came from her dearly loved grandchildren and friends. Ruth Peters May 28, 1920 - April 15, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home On Friday, April 15, 2005 at the Grace Hospice, Ruth passed away. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill Peters in December 1990. Ruth’s memory will be cherished by her children son Larry (Marian) and daughter Lois Hollinger of Florida. Mom worked for Scarborough Board of Education for 25 years. Ruth spent the winter months in Florida with her daughter. She was a wonderful sweet natured person always ready to help anyone, anywhere. Mom lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by her children. Cremation has taken place and an interment will take place at a later date in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Scarborough, Ontario. Jesse also loved to sing. It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don on April 25, 2005, at home. Born in Sydney, he was a son of Ruby (Balsom) Pitcher, Port Hawkesbury, and Harold Pitcher, Sydney. Don was a loyal, long-standing employee of the Federal Government, Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada (AACI). He had been a carpenter, working with his father, and sold real estate for several years. He enjoyed reading, and had a great enthusiasm for current events and increasing his personal knowledge. Don also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, had a love for gardening and the companionship of his dog "Charlie". He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Dianne (Murphy); daughter, Denise, Halifax; son, Donald James "Jim" (Ginette), Hammonds Plains. He is also survived by loving sisters, Linda Paris, Belleville, Ont.; Shirley Marchand (Lionel), Port Hawkesbury; brothers, Keith Pitcher (Angela), Beaver Bank; Gary Pitcher, Calgary, Alta.; loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
