Demetrios "Jim" A. Zagas October 01, 1938 - May 13, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) Demetrios "Jim" Zagas, passed away with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed by the love of his life Magda; his children Soti, Jim, Cheryl (daughter in-law), and his granddaughter Alex who he deeply adored. He is also remembered by his siblings: Chrissa, Eli, George and Peter, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and all of their families. Jim was born in Athens, Greece. Jim joined the Greek Merchant Navy at a young age where he traveled the world. After marrying his beloved Magda, he and his wife moved to Calgary in 1968 where they began and raised their loving family. He was the proud proprietor of Brentwood Pizza for 25 years. Jim and Magda recently retired and looked forward to spending more time with family, friends and his "little Alex" who will sorely miss him. His history, character, integrity and commitment to his family enriched the lives of all whom knew him. His smile and demeanor would brighten your day. LAVALLEY, Arnold "Blackie" Laurence -- Of Marshall -- Died on Friday, May 13, 2005, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Mr. LaValley was born on July 8, 1923 in Superior, Wisconsin to Charles and Eleanore (Sharon) LaValley. He graduated from Superior East End High School in 1949. On April 18, 1955 he married Ardelle Langaas in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on June 4, 1998. Mr. LaValley served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in Europe during World War II. Mr. LaValley worked as an Electrical Mechanic for the former Lake Head Pipe Line for 32 years until retiring in 1985. He was a long time member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was also a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge #676, and of the Elk's. Mr. LaValley earned his pilot's licence when he was younger and enjoyed flying. He enjoyed traveling and going for walks with his wife. Mr. LaValley enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching them on T.V. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. LaValley is survived by four daughters; Gail (Gordon) LaValley-Black of Texas, Char LaValley, and Lenette Henson both of Marshall, and Lisa (Elmo) Nelson of Washington, two sons; Gary (Marcy) LaValley of Wisconsin, and William (Deb) LaValley of Kalamazoo, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Friends may call at the Craig K. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals and long motorcycle rides with his son, Fred. Pheneuf and his wife Michele of Champlain; one daughter, Theresa Ann Pheneuf of Champlain; three grandchildren, Kimberly Pheneuf of Chazy, Abigail Pheneuf of Champlain and Joshua Pheneuf of Champlain; one brother-in-law, Homer St. John of Cohoes, N.Y.; his best friend, Leon Vassar of Mooers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was predeceased by his parents, George W. Pheneuf Sr. and Anna Marie Kelly; and one brother, James Pheneuf.Calling hours will be Monday, May 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm Street in Champlain. Jelpi Pierre Picou, 80, a native and resident of Houma, died at 11:04 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Irma Jane Porche Picou; eleven children, Lisette Brunet, Deborah Picou, Larke Fabre, Etienne Picou, Nicole Lovitt, Monique Rozands, Jelpi Picou Jr., Emilie Pitre, James Picou, Charles Picou, and Adrienne Picou; three sons-in-law, Joe Lovitt, Ricky Rozands, and Billy Pitre; two daughters-in-law, Carrol Picou and Ilona Picou; and ten grandchildren. He was a retired educator for Terrebonne Parish schools and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. At his request, there will be no service.
