1983-2005 Suite à un long combat contre le cancer, à l’Hôpital St-Justine de Montréal, le vendredi 18 février 2005, à l’âge de 21 ans est décédé Michel Fontaine, fils de Sherry Young et Daniel Fontaine. WEST SPRINGFIELD - Harry E. Bassette, 91, of West Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in Agawam. He was employed for 30 years as a conductor at the New York Central Railroad Company, and retired in 1975. He was born in Agawam on September 13, 1913, a son of the late Henry and Edna (Roberts) Bassette and had lived in Agawam before moving to West Springfield. He was a communicant of St. Louis de France Church in West Springfield. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Jeannette A. (Lenville) Bassette. His children, Harry A. Bassette and his wife, Sandra of Holyoke, Gerald C. Bassette and his wife, Theresa of Fruitland Park, FL, and Susan E. Cootware and her husband, Duane of Quechee, VT. His grandchildren, Renee LaMothe-Rafuse, Laurie, Julie, Sheri, Kristi, Ryan, Aaron, and Lisa. His ten great-grandchildren. His sister, Sylvia Lindstrom of East Longmeadow and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence and Clarence Bassette, and by his sisters, Isabelle Bernatchez and Emeline Waite. JOAN (CURTIS) BESSETTE -- BURLINGTON — Joan Curtis Bessette, 76, formerly of Fern Hill, passed away peacefully in Fletcher Allen Health Care on Feb. 23, 2005, after a brief illness. She was born June 20, 1928, the daughter of Irving and Lois (Wine) Curtis, in Worcester, Mass., where she lived the first 10 years of her life. After a short stay in Rockford, Ill., Joan moved to and settled in her beloved Vermont where she found her greatest happiness. Joan lived life more than most by enjoying the little things which many simply pass by with little regard. A breeze through the trees, squirrels and birds squabbling over a feeder, every flower that bloomed, were jewels to be cherished. As a resident of Starr Farm for several years she could often be found singing with the facility's pet birds in the activities room. A devout animal person, cats her special love before dogs, Joan truly enjoyed all animals and seemed to communicate with them better than she could with most people. She sometimes believed she was part cat and how her children would laugh. Joan also greatly enjoyed the games and will continue to reign as the family Yahtzee Queen. Joan leaves four of her six children, Terrance T. of northern Vermont, Pale-Moon Winslow of Hinesburg, R.D. Bessette of Brownwood, Texas, and last but not least her baby girl, Teki Cass of Colchester; her grandchildren, Brad and Missy Hayden of Starksboro, Mark Hayden of Brownwood, Danny Francis of Essex, Julie Mae Bessette of Austin, Texas, and Jerrick Bessette, also of Texas. She was the great-grandmother of Quatie L. AllenHayden and Amanda L. Butler-Hayden. Joan was predeceased by her sons, Jon and Little Deer. Spring services will be held in St Paul's Cathedral (Episcopal). Arrangements are by Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home. Joan is resting peacefully now. Amen.

He had a knack for making each person feel like they were special to him. Dad was a man who always put his family first. He and Mom both only children decided that none of us would be alone in this life, well we’re “not.” Dad instilled in all of us- love each other, be honest, take each day that you are given and live it “Family Loyalty.” Even in his last hours he was still looking after us. Dad was on “GOD’S MOST WANTED LIST” for a while but being the “GAMBLER” that he was he still had a few aces up his sleeve and he wasn’t ready to fold’em just yet. He still had sunshine and laughter to spread. He’ll be remembered at Glengarry Hospital as the man named “JOHN” who sat by the window soaking up the sunshine and spreading it around. Dad and We the Family wish to Thank each and everyone at Glengarry for your devotion, professionalism, your kindness, and your friendship. You are all special people. Dad always said they work so hard here! SOUTH HADLEY - Donna M. (Gagnon) Brunelle, 57, died Wednesday February 23 at the Holyoke Medical Center. She was born in Holyoke March 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Doris M. (Laflamme) Gagnon. She was a graduate of the former Precious Blood High School Class of 1965. She was a thirty-four year South Hadley resident, a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, and a member of its Ladies Guild. She is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Wilfred Brunelle, one son, Joseph Brunelle of Boston, and one daughter, Michelle Brunelle of South Hadley. She also leaves two brothers, Dennis Gagnon of Amherst, and Daniel Gagnon of Southwick and one sister, Diane Duval of South Hadley, and several nieces and nephews. Dawn Marie Goulette, died suddenly Sunday, (February 20, 2005) as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Dawn Marie was born August 1, 1966 in Hartford. She is the beloved daughter of and is survived by her father Donald Goulette Jr., of East Hartford and her mother Abbie Sombric of Hartford. She is also survived by her brother Donald Goulette Ill of Newport, NH and her sister Donna Lee Kirby of Winooski, VT, as well as a special friend, Tanja Thompson. Dawn Marie was a graduate of St. Joseph College and earned her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of CT. She was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the Capitol Region Mental Health Center. Previous employers included, My Sister's Place, Cedarcrest Hospital, and The Open Hearth Association. Dawn Marie dedicated her life's work in service to the poor, the hungry, the homeless, and people with mental illness. She was kind and compassionate to those on the margins of our society. Her perseverance and humility inspired all who knew her. She was a tireless worker, student, and volunteer. As a teenager, Dawn Man rode her bicycle seven miles each way twice a week to Cedarcrest Hospital where she volunteered in the Rehabilitation Dept. assisting people with chronic mental illness. The CT State Legislature recognized Dawn Marie for her volunteer work at Cedarcrest. She also received the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Service Regional Director's Citation for Volunteer Service. In addition the Governor of CT recognized her for her commitment to volunteerism. Dawn Marie lived the Gospel message "As often as you neglected to do it to one of these least ones, you neglected to do it to me." There are no calling hours. A Memorial Funeral Mass in celebration of Dawn Marie's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, 12 Noon at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, corner of Ann and Church Streets, Hartford. Poliquin, Raymond Albert of Palm Desert died February 20, 2005. He was 83. Born June 22, 1921 to Peter and Elizabeth Doucette Poliquin in Thorne, N.D. Coming to California in the mid 1930s, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served from 1942 through 1945 aboard three Destroyers, the USS Chevalier, which sunk in battle, the USS O'Bannon, and later on the USS Stockham, which was a witness to the Japanese surrender proceedings in Tokyo Bay. Post war, Ray learned the lathing trade and in 1955 started his own company, the Western Comerite Company, which later became the Western Metal Lath Company. He married Bette Jane Bane, of Jefferson, Iowa on March 17,, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. He served as President of Western Metal Lath until retiring in 1980 then in 1981 decided to re-enter the industry he loved and bought California Expanded Metal Products Co., serving as Chief Executive Office until 1998, and then as Chairman of the Board until his death. He is survived by his wife Bette, of Palm Desert; daughter Brooks West and Paige Collins, both of San Juan Capistrano, California and one son, Raymond Edward Poliquin of Huntington Beach, CA; four granddaughters, Briar and Chloe West, Olivia Collins, and Piper Poliquin; two grandsons Zachary Collins and Raymond Pierce Poliquin; two brothers, Lavern Poliquin of Newport Beach and Richard Poliquin, of Santa Ana. Civet, Jacques Jean -- Born November 6, 1923 in Grenoble, France. He died peacefully at his daughter's home on February 16, 2005 with family at his side. He participated in WWII and received the Croix de Guerre and Medaille Militaire. He worked as the catering manager at the Los Angeles Country Club for 30 years until his retirement in 1990. Hervin Joseph Durelle 1917 - 2005 Hervin Durelle, 87, formerly of Pointe-Sapin, NB, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005. Born in Baie Ste-Anne, he was the son of the late Edmond and Céline (Manuelle) Durelle. A veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a life long fisherman, carpenter, and a member of the Club d'Age D'or Pointe-Sapin. ROLLINSFORD — John William Croteau, 68, of 483 Prospect St., in Rollinsford, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2005, at home surrounded by his family.John was born in Berlin, N.H., on Aug., 8, 1936, the son of William and Eva (Brunelle) Croteau. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Rollinsford. He had lived in Rollinsford most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was a longtime em-ployee of Moore Business Forms of Dover.John, also known as “The Bull,” was a loving Pepe and was well-loved and respected in the community. He was an avid athlete, especially when it came to softball. He was also an avid fish-erman, hunter and a member of the American Legion Post 47 of Rollinsford. The last surviving member of her family, she was also predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Louis Lussier of Sorel, PQ and three brothers, Jacques, Rene, and Raymond Lussier, all of Montreal PQ. She was a very giving and loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. There will be no visitation (at her request) and the funeral service will be private. DEVEREAUX, Charles -- Born Dec. 19, 1916 in Eugene, OR, died suddenly on Feb. 16, 2005. He married Edith Paris in 1943 and moved to California to serve as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he attended UC Berkeley where he received his master's degree in Social Work. He worked for the State Dept. of Mental Hygiene and Social Welfare in Sacramento for 30 years. After his retirement, Charles served as a volunteer at Kaiser Morse Hospital for 16 years. BERWICK, Maine — Lionel “Nel” Doiron, 74, of Butler Avenue, died peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., after a lengthy and courageous battle with emphysema.He was born in Sanford, Maine, Feb. 11, 1931, the son of August and Ernestine (Demers) Doi-ron.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he served his country during the Korean War.His tireless work ethic and commitment to providing a good life for his family led him into a va-riety of occupations throughout his life. He had been a factory worker, a municipal employee of Berwick, and an employee of Hussey Seating Company in North Berwick. He eventually retired from Hussey Seating in 1994, and despite his failing health, the past 10 years were the most fulfill-ing and enjoyable of his life. During this time, he was able to devote all of his time to his children and grandchildren and to pursue his personal interests. He and his wife also built a beautiful home together during these years.His interests and hobbies were similarly varied. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He loved to play cards, dominoes, and other games with family and friends, and he made frequent trips to the casinos to play the slots. The simple pleasures in life were always among his fondest inter-ests, and his greatest satisfaction came from spending time with his large and extended family, taking rides and trips in the car with his wife, and sharing a joke.Surviving him is his loving wife and constant companion of 46 years, Ann (Levasseur) Doiron and their three children, John and his wife, Cindy, of Berwick, Debra and her husband, Michael Rouleau ,of Berwick, and Arline and her husband, Jeffrey Barry, also of Berwick. NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL - Albert Gamache of Florida died on Thursday, Feb 17, 2005 at home. He was born on July 24, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan and lived in Florida for the past 13 years. Albert was the son of the late Armand and Juliette (Bernier) Gamache. He was employed as a die sinker in manufacturing in California. He retired in Florida. Albert leaves his sisters Rita Aucoin of Chicopee, Paulette Marra of Easthampton, Hugette Westman of Missouri, Lise Trembley of Ludlow, Giselle Varney of Monson and brothers Jean-Paul Gamache of Wales, Pierre Gamache of Florida, Claude Gamache of Costa Rica, Denis Gamache of Brimfield and Phillip Gamache of Agawam. His two sisters, Aline Fafard and Jeannine Paranteau predeceased Albert. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
