PRICE, Robert W. 71 years, passed away after a long and courageous batttle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on February 19, 2005 at Windsor Regional Hospital-Metropolitan Campus. Beloved husband and best friend for 52 years to Madeline (nee Amelia). Loving father of Pat and husband Wayne Smith, Bob and wife Theresa and the late Jo-Anne Price (1974). Dear grandfather of Eddie, Jeff and Melissa Smith, Natalie, Robert and Emily Price. Dear brother to Maxine Price. Predeceased by parents Malcolm and Loretta Price. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob retired from Chrysler Canada in 1982 after 30 years of dedicated service. A heartfelt thanks to the Windsor Regional Cancer Clinic and the 4th floor Oncology staff for their care and compassion given to Bob. Also, many thanks to the Windsor/Essex C.C.A.C. and Hospice. RENAUD, Irene Marie 85 years, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2005 at Leamington District Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband Elie (1999). Irene leaves behind her children Rose Girard and husband Denis; Anna-Marie Hallatt and husband Wayne; Marvin Renaud and wife Gabrielle; Richard Renaud and fiancee Marilyn; Robert Renaud ; Denise Tingen and husband Chris; Linda Renaud and partner Janet Moffat; predeceased by her son Elie (2003) and survived by his wife Henriette. Will be missed dearly by 27 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Daniel and Elizabeth Renaud. Predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Dunn, Virginia LaConte, Bella Major. Irene belonged to the McGregor C.W.L. for 40 years and the K of C ladies auxiliary. Irene was also a member of the McGregor bowling league for many years. She was an avid card player and was the former president of the St Clement seniors group also for many years. Visitation at the JAMES H. STEVENSON, Andy Andy passed away just shy of his 50th birthday on February 18, 2005 after losing his battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Heather and cherished son of William and Martha Stevenson. Dear brother to Ann of Windsor, William and Erzbeth of Scotland. Always in his mind were his children Adam and Jen Ferguson, Nicole and Rodney Bovingdon, Michelle and Kevin James. Adoring papa to Ainsley, Rodney, Amy and Jacob. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Evelyn Brunt, sisters-in-law Lynette Authier and Tracy and Rick Brunner. WALKER, Nancy Catherine Nancy was born December 18, 1948 in Picton, Ontario, the daughter of Jean and Leo MacDonald and passed away on February 18, 2005 at her home in Leamington, Ontario. She is survived by her husband Michael; daughters, Ashley and Katherine; dogs, Angus and Sydney; and her sisters Patricia MacDonald (Ian Szlazak and son, John Patrick), Mary Lee Barham (Douglas) and Christine Tordon (Rick). Nancy graduated from St. Rita's School of Nursing, Sydney, N.S. as a Registered Nurse, and from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She spent the majority of her life in Vancouver, where she worked for many years in the nursing profession, as a nurse, an instructor, and a consultant. Before moving to Leamington in 2003, she was president of the Lion's Gate Healthcare Research Foundation. Those who knew Nancy knew her as a caring, thoughtful, dependable person with a great sense of humour, who always put others before herself. In addition to her family, Nancy's passions were gardening, painting and quilting, to name a few. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell St. Leamington, Ontario on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 3:00 pm. INGHAM, Doris Helen Toku (nee McConnell) - Peacefully at Riverview Manor, February 19, 2005 in her 100th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Bruce Everett Ingham. She is lovingly remembered and adored by her children George Herman and Helen Victoria May, and predeceased by the late Bruce McConnell (Mac) and Bernard Wesley Ingham. She was born on January 11, 1906 in Kenlis, Saskatchewan. Mrs. Ingham worked as a reporter for the Peterborough Examiner for a good number of years. She also worked at the office of Millbrook Industries for seven years. She was an elder for life at St. Andrew's United Church in Millbrook, a life member of St. Andrew's U.C.W., a honorary life member of the Millbrook-Cavan Historical Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Millbrook Legion Branch #402. At the age of twelve, she won a gold medal for the province of Saskatchewan for an essay, "Why I Like to Live in Saskatchewan." While a student at Bowmanville High School, she performed in school plays as "Helena" in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Roasalind" in "As You Like It". One other thing she did after her retirement was a weekly news program over CHUC: Millbrook and District Community News. REV. ALFRED B. SANDER Peacefully, on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, Rev. Alfred B. Sander passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Winnipeg, Man. with his family at his side. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Vernon (Joanne) Heather, Kristoffer (Candace); Lee (Lois) Krista (Dave) and children, Ellis, Anna, Naomi, and Joel; Jean, Leah; Neil (Valerie) Lani (David), Andrew; Lois (Brian) Alanna, Kent, and Rachel; Eleanor (Ingemar); Lisa (Roland) Kevin, Melanie and Sarah; and Susan (Alan) Julianna, Daniel, Katrina, Jonathan, and Nicholas. Also surviving are his sister, Ruth; brother, Carl (Elsie); in-laws, Arlene, Muriel, and Ray; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by first wife, Marie; sisters, Carrie and Esther; brother, Alvin; and in-laws, Fred, Oscar, Edna, and Mac. Alf was born April 4, 1925 and grew up on a Swedish immigrant farm in Shenston, Ont. After service in WW II, he married Marie in 1946, finished his education, and in 1953 began his ordained ministry in Stockholm, Sask. His faithful and joyful service to God continued in Atikokan, Ont., Gimli, Man., LCA Central Canada Synod and Luther Village. Alf married Ruth in 1978 and retired from Luther Village in 1985, whereupon he entered into many interim ministries—the longest being nine years in Teulon/Inwood. Alf was an ordinary man who had an extraordinary effect on the lives of all whom he touched. His diverse interests made him an exciting, unique, and well-integrated man with a big heart for all. He was truly devoted to ministry and the people he served. Alf was a gift of God to us on Earth. The family extends a grateful thank you to all those who served as caregivers. A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church (1311 Dakota St.) in Winnipeg. MALLETTE, Brian Stanley - After a short illness, Brian Mallette died peacefully at North Bay General Hospital on Sunday, February 20, 2005 in his 59th year. He was the beloved son of the late Frances Katherine (MacDonald) (deceased 1985) and Maurice Joseph Mallette (deceased 1992). Brian was the dear brother of Sandra Grose of North Bay and Allan Mallette (Trish Larsson) of Oshawa. He was the loving uncle of Kelly (Brad Kerr), Adam Grose (Kim) and great-uncle of Kennedy Kerr. J. Elwin Allaby 1914 - 2005 Elwin Allaby, 91, of Hillside Drive, Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, February 19, 2005. Born in Salt Springs, NB on January 27, 1914, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Lockhart) Allaby. Elwin retired from Canada Post with over 35 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Acacia Lodge F. & A.M, a long time member of the First United Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling. Betty served in the WRAF during WWII. She married Colin and raised 2 children. She left for Canada when Colin died and started a new life at age 70. BURDEN, PAUL EDWARD - D.F.C. In his 84th year, Past Honorary Colonel Paul E. Burden passed away at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton, New Brunswick on February 18, 2005. Paul and his wife Iris (Southern) of 58 years raised a family of eight children. He is survived by sons Christopher (Barbara), Michael (Margaret Ann), Nicholas (Ruby) Peter (Mexicana Briggs) and daughters Beverley (David DeLong), Betty, and Martha (Kevin Gillrey), sister, Betty Woodside (George), 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by daughter, Penny Morrissette (Ivan), brother, George Franklin Burden, nephew, Malcolm Boyd and parents E. E. (Ted) and Myrtle Burden (Hoyt). Born in Poquiock, New Brunswick August 7, 1920 many of Paul's early years were spent on his father and grandfather's farms. He left MacDonald College after one year to join the R.C.A.F. at the age of 19, enlisting on June 27, 1940. Trained as a pilot, Paul received his wings on Fairey Battles at Kingston, Ontario. For the next two and half years he remained in Canada, first as a staff pilot at #4 Wireless School, Winnipeg and then as a member of #124 Ferry Squadron, Rockcliff. Paul was posted to the United Kingdom in 1943. As a pilot with the 434 Squadron and 405 Pathfinder Squadron respectively, Lieutenant Burden remained active until war's end, completing 43 operations. He received his demobilization from the R.C.A.F. in 1946 after spending his last months as a troop conductor on troop ships crossing the Atlantic. Upon return to Fredericton, Lieut. Burden flew his Lancaster down Charlotte Street at tree level, his mother waiving her apron in response. During his career as an airman, Paul was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery; the France-German Star, 39-45 Star; the Defense of Britain medal, the Canadian Volunteer medal and clasp, the Victory medal for wartime service, the Pathfinder Force Award and the Operations Wing Award. In recognition of service to country and community, he also received the Queen's Coronation, Silver Jubilee, Centennial and Golden Jubilee medals; Canadian Corp of Commissionaires Meritorious Service, Canadian Corp of Commissionaires Long Service and Fédération des Combattants Volontaires Alliés Canada medals. In civilian life Paul was well know in the stationery profession and as a community volunteer. He operated Paul Burden Ltd. for 35 years, then Burden Office Equipment and Burden Auctioneers and Liquidators Ltd. In addition to his children, nieces and nephews, Paul gave many young people their introduction to the world of commerce. Numerous employees worked in his family operated business for decades. At one time he had more than 60 employees, all of whom he personally greeted everyday. Paul had a keen interest in community affairs, supporting a myriad of organizations. He was a member of Brunswick Street Baptist Church, York South Liberal Association, a Mason for 60 years and a Shriner. Paul served as Past President of the Fredericton Branch and New Brunswick Command Royal Canadian Legion as well as Honorary Grand Patron of that Command; Chairman of the Board of Governors New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Divisions of the Corps of Commissionaires; Charter Past President of the 252 (Lord Beaverbrook) Wing of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association in Fredericton and a former National Officer of that organization. In addition, he held positions as Past President of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, Fredericton Children's Aid Society, Fredericton South Boy Scouts, District President Boy Scouts of Canada, Fredericton Board of Trade, Garrison Club, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Canadian Office Machine Dealers Association; Director - Canadian National Institute for the Blind; Vice President Kinsmens Club, Vice President National Executive Council, R.C.A.F.; Provincial Director Air Cadet League of Canada; former member of the Fredericton Police Commission and former Clerk Assistant of the New Brunswick Legislature. Paul also served as Honorary Colonel of 403 Squadron at Base Gagetown, New Brunswick. As a young man Paul owned the Montgomery Street Animal Hospital and bred bullmastiffs. He was well known in the dog show circuit. In latter years Paul pursued his life long love of animal husbandry, breeding Peruvian Passover horses. A proficient rider, he and his stallion, Tallisman, often participated in local parades and community events. His affection for children was a focal point in his life. Many summers were spent with family and friends at Lake George where Paul was said to have given every child a boat ride and a tow on water skis. Paul lived his life with purpose. He was a devoted family man, entrepreneur and gifted storyteller with a love for people, history and nature. In addition to his family, perhaps his greatest legacy was his love of country and his sense of fair play and honesty. His eternal optimism, sense of humor and gentle nature will resonate in those who knew him. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Ericson, Penny Ericson, Eric Wright, Anne Reynolds; George, Lee, Roy, Paul, Allyson and Constance Woodside; Paul Ripley, H.M. (Mac) Heckbert, M.M.: R.O. Bosence, Col. HAMILTON, MARY ELIZABETH (BETTY) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Hamilton wife of the late William Murray Hamilton of Gagetown, NB on Friday, February 18, 2005. Born in Gagetown in 1922 she was the daughter of the late Helen (Neales) and Frank DuVernet. Betty was a devoted life long member of the St. John's Anglican Church. She taught Sunday school for a number of years and was a faithful member of the Anglican Church Women's Group. She was an active member of many organizations. Betty was a life member of the Gagetown Women's Institute, a member of the Queen's County Historical Society and a charter member of the Gagetown Square Dance Club. Betty was an employee of the District 17 School Board, followed by her employment as Secretary at both the Gagetown Elementary & Junior High School and with the RCMP Gagetown Detachment until her retirement. Betty had a strong community spirit, she enjoyed her many friends, gardening, games, reading, the "Snug" and most of all was a devoted and loving wife, mother and nanny. Betty is survived by two sons; Jim (Daphne) Hamilton of Fredericton, Geoff (Kathy) Hamilton of Gagetown; two granddaughters, Julie (Trevor) Pardy and Lisa Hamilton of Fredericton; five sisters, Gabriella Fisher of Toronto, Frances Knuppel of BC, Pat (Ed) Bastedo of Dartmouth, Carol (Don) Dykeman of Fredericton, Judy (Gordon) Rathburn of Kingston and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by a sister Florence DuVernet, brothers-in-law Lyle Fisher and Derek Clingo. Resting at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday, February 20, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. VINCENT, LILLIAN M. - On Sunday, February 20, 2005, Lillian May Vincent passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital in her 100th year. Born in Carbonear, Newfoundland. She was the daughter of the late Philip Henry and Mary Ann (Poole) French. Lillian was predeceased by her husband George Vincent and her first husband Seguard Edward Wooldridge. She is survived by her four children, Helen Frawsel, LeRoy (Constance) Wooldridge-Vincent, Frances Middleton and Melvin (Betty) Vincent; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lillian was a lifetime member of Park Avenue United Church and a member of the Provincial and Federal Conservative Party. She was also very proud of her Newfoundland heritage. David Cuthbertson Glenn June 07, 1923 - February 19, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Peacefully and without pain, David passed away at Cowichan District Hospital on Saturday, February 19, 2005. Predeceased by his parents James and Lila Glenn, brothers Dan, Tom, Bill and Reid. He is survived by his wife Alice, sister Jean Whelen, brothers Merton (Melva) and Duncan (Joan), daughters Beverly Porter (Brian) and Sharon Powell (Danny); son Jim (Cheryl); granddaughters Kathleen Glenn (Doug) and Jennifer. Born in Campbell’s Bay, Quebec, David started moving west in 1944, with a stop at Forget, Saskatchewan to take part in the grain harvest. He arrived on the West Coast to fall “big trees” in 1945. A coastal faller, David worked up and down the coast until his retirement in 1988. He loved the life of a coastal faller, the companionship of his fellow workers and being in the outdoors. David married Alice in 1949 and over the next 9 years, they had their three children. Very much a family man, David was able to combine this with his love of farming by being active in 4-H as were his daughters and granddaughters. Another interest of David’s was raising feeder steers and in his later years being active in the Duncan and District Antique Machinery Society. David will be sorely missed. A Funeral Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2005 with a reception to follow in the Arbor Reception Centre. She was employed at the Halifax Dockyard during the war and worked at various secretarial positions throughout her career, retiring in 1985 from the Department of National Defence. She enjoyed walking, spending time with family, and in her younger years, vacations to Prince Edward Island. Molly P. Pickard MALAGASH, NS - Molly P. Pickard (Joyce), 85, of Malagash, NS, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2005 in the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. She was the oldest daughter of the late Harris A. and Bertha E. Joyce (Moncton, New Brunswick). After graduating from Mount Allison University, she worked as secretary-treasurer of Moncton Lumber Company until her marriage. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as skating, swimming and trout fishing. She was an ardent curler in the days when the reward for success was a teaspoon or a memorial pin. Most importantly, she was a wife, mother and homemaker and proud of her worth. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Campbell; a daughter, Joyce, at home; daughter-in-law, Dale, Kingston, ON; grandchildren, Damon (Leslie), Kingston, ON, Darcy (Shane), Vancouver; great-grandchild, David; sisters, Mrs. Carol Proctor, Moncton and Mrs. Betty Covey (Bill), Middleton, NS. Helen was a long-time volunteer as a French translator in the Victoria General Hospital and she received a plaque from the people of St. Pierre Miquelon in thanks for opening her home to those families in need of a place to stay while their relatives were under medical care at various hospitals in the metro area. Surviving are son, Ernest (Angela) Aucoin, Halifax; daughter, Ida Denyes, Windsor; grandchildren, Jason, Noel, Nicole, Jenna, Jeannie; brothers, Patrick, Jimmy, Leonard, and Joseph; sisters, Lillian, Mary Louise, Elizabeth, Mary Adele, Cecile, Pauline, Mary Agnes, Stella, Geraldine, and Jeanine. MAHONEY, "CLEM" CLEMENT LOUIS - Clem Mahoney passed away with his wife at his side, at the age of 72, on February 18, 2005 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB. He is survived by his wife Eleanor (O'Leary); children, Rae (Robby) of Guelph, ON, John (Kelly) of Orleans, ON, Bill (Lise) of Brighton, ON; and seven grandchildren, Chase, Courtenay, Kylie, Taylor, Daniel, Cassidy and Melissa. His sister Dolly (Jack) of Fredericton, NB; and many nieces and nephews also survive him. His parents, three brothers and two sisters predeceased Clem. Clem proudly served 26 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, including a Peace Keeping tour of Egypt and then enjoyed a snowbird retirement lifestyle for 15 years with his beloved wife of 49 years. MARR, ALBERT (TIM) EDWARD Albert (Tim) E. Marr of Central Hainesville passed away Feb. 18, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Woodstock in 1921, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Minnie (Gorham) Marr. Tim was a veteran of the Second World War and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Millville Branch 59. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and animals. Tim will be remembered by his family as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice E. MARTZ, SISTER CECELIA J. (SISTER MARY ALEXINA) - The death of Sister Cecelia Josephine Martz (Sister Mary Alexina) of the Ruth Ross Residence, Saint John, occurred on Sunday, February 20, 2005 at her residence. Sister Martz was born in Holdfast, Saskatchewan, a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Fuchs) Martz. Sister Cecelia entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 1, 1928. She served in various ministries across Canada, at Holy Family Hospital and St. Patrick's Orphanage, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and Rosary Hall, Regina, Saskatchewan. In Alberta, Sister served at St. Joseph's Hospital, Radway and in Wetaskiwin. While residing in British Columbia, Sister Cecelia ministered at various places which include, Our Lady of Mercy Home and St. Vincent's Hospital, Vancouver. She also served as a Parish Worker in Hope, BC. Sister Cecelia moved to New Brunswick in the early 1970's. Since then, she volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Saint John and participated in various ministries at the Cathedral Parish. She is survived by one brother, William D. Martz (Florence) of Maple Ridge, BC; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Kay Martz, Louise Martz and Loretta Brock and brothers, Adam and Henry Martz. Mike was a member of the ILA and was employed with Forterm at the Port of Saint John for 30 years until his retirement in 2002 due to illness. Mike's greatest enjoyment was his cottage at the Cambridge Narrows where he spent much of his time in the last few years. HANLON, AUDREY HELEN - 78, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully in Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ethel (Bartlett) McDonald. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury, and was employed at Dominion Food Store in Saint John, where she was a cashier. She was a dedicated mother, wife and grandmother, who devoted all her time to her family. She was actively involved in figure skating over the years, as well as bowling, curling and golfing. Audrey was a great storyteller and was proud to boast of her grandchildren. Anyone who knew Audrey will remember her daily walks around town and the Friday night dancing at the Legion. She was always ready for a good laugh and was the life of the party. She was one who was determined to press on and be courageous after her husband of 55 years unexpectedly passed away. Margi graduated from Saint John High School in 1983. Her most recent employments were at Mosher Chedore and Clark Drummie. Margi received great joy and strength from her faith as a Christian. She was very active, endlessly volunteering, being a dedicated hockey mom, and applying her creative talent to her rustic country treasures. Margi was known for her great kindness, her vibrance and love of life. Her selflessness, compassion and generous spirit endeared her to the hearts of the many lives that have been blessed by knowing her. A loving and devoted Mother, she leaves behind her greatest gift, her son Matthew John (Katie McLellan), by whom, among so many, she will be deeply missed, including, her father Donald; her mother and best friend Barbara Jean; her boyfriend Jason MacKinnon; her siblings Dawn (Dr. Paul Kerr), Jim, John (Monique St.Pierre), Carolyn (David Lint), Peter (Kelly) and Lori. PARKER, JOAN MARIE - Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday February 18th, 2005. Born in Saint John, NB on October 10th, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Gordon and Florence (Murphy) Parker. Joan is survived by two brothers, Paul (Barbara) of Salisbury and Terrance (Linda) of Saint John; an aunt, Constance Murphy; three nieces, Jennifer Bedell, Shelby, and Holly Parker; two nephews, Christopher and Peter Parker; and several great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, a sister Ruth predeceased Joan. The arrangements are under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visitations on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 at 2pm from the Fundy Funeral Home "Chapel". Interment will be in Fernhill Cemetery following the service.
