SIAN, Gwenne Mrs. Gwenne Sian of Camrose, passed away at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 77 years. Gwenne will be lovingly remembered by her husband George Sian; her three children Charmaine (Mike) Dorchak of Edmonton, Forrest Letourneau of Edmonton and Taylor (Karen) Letourneau of Ottawa; her four step-children Donald (Margaret) Sian of Yellowknife, Lynda Sian of South Cooking Lake, Brenda Sian of Burnaby, BC and Patricia (Tom) Letts of Edmonton. Gwen is also survived by her seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009 from the Camrose United Church (4829-50 Street, Camrose) with Mary Ann Pastuck and Reverend Dr. Alan Richards officiating. WARAWA, Linda Margaret (nee Isinger) November 6, 1948 - November 4, 2009 Linda Margaret (Isinger) Warawa passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60 years in her home on November 4, 2009. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Ron Warawa, and daughter, Vanessa (fiance Roy Van). She is also survived by her sister, Kathy (Larry) Paulson of Edson; brother, Les (Lyn) Isinger of Stony Plain; special sister-in-law, Hilda (Ed) Horon of Vegreville; mother-in-law, Mary Warawa of Two Hills; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and very good friend, Donna Powell. Linda was predeceased by her father, Frank Isinger; mother, Elizabeth Isinger; niece, Erin Katrine Paulson; favorite uncle, Joe Hodai; and father-in-law, Bill Warawa. Linda and her husband, Ron, were very active volunteers in the Winterburn community they called home for 35 years, as well as at the Gold Dust Days at Peers where she grew up, and the Leduc Antique Society. BORSU, Pierre Died peacefully in hospital October 31, 2009 with his family by his bedside. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Borsu and cherished daughters, Lisa and Carole Borsu and his son-in-law, Curt Basher. His career as a French language teacher in Ottawa spanned 35 years and encompassed the federal government, Carleton University and University of Ottawa. He loved teaching and took tremendous pride in the success of his students. His great appreciation of Impressionist painters and French literature allowed him to share his passion and culture with others. His love of classical music was also a wonderful part of his life. His own paintings and writing of poetry garnered great admiration. A private Celebration of Life is being held. BRADLEY, Moya Amelia (Amy) Harrison In Toronto, October 16, 2009, Moya Amelia (Amy) Harrison Bradley (nee Lockhart), Drumbanagher, Ireland, September 25, 1913). Predeceased in 2008 by her husband Harvard Bradley, she leaves her daughter Jessica (Toronto) and her son John (Rome), beloved grandchildren Charles and Matthew James, son-in-law Geoffrey James and daughter-in-law Lorraine Perger, sisters-in-law Zena Bradley (Victoria) and Peggy Lockhart (Jerretts Pass, Ireland) and nieces and nephews Joanna, Judith, Ian and Barry. She was director of the Willis Business College, Ottawa, from 1956 to 1972. Daughter of the late James Gibson and Catherine Hefferman, predeceased by her eldest son Kenneth (Linda) (1971), and her husband Larry (1987). Dear mother of Neil (Lianne), Jeri Lunney (Al), and Kathy Lapointe (Jean). Devoted grandmother to Kevin Fuller (Cathy Timms), Michael Lunney, Paul Doherty (Shannon), Carole Lunney (Andrew Hayes), Meagan O'Toole (Chris), Stephen Lunney, Patrick Doherty (Sharon Lin), and Stephanie Lapointe. KEANE, Colm B, 03 August 1931 - 04 November 2009 Pratt & Whitney/DND Ret Member Hylands Golf Course (GGFH) The family of Colm B. Keane sadly announce his passing at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus 04 November 2009. Colm was born in Ballyferriter, County Kerry, Ireland to Eamonn and Katherine (Manning) Keane (O'Cathain). Colm is survived and painfully missed by his beloved Deanna (Gray), daughters Deirdre Keane (Jeffery Clift), Kerry Cavanagh (Wayne) Ann Hamaker (Ray) and stepdaughters Brenda Adams (Dale) Barbara Gardiner (Dave) Bev Gray (Mike Baillie). Also sadly missed by the mother of his children and cherished friend, Thelma Keane. Also very saddened by their loss are all of Colm's grandchildren: Lauren, Mathew, Riley, Taylor, Christopher, Melissa, Steven, Ceilidh, Markie, John and Keith and great-grandson, Aidan. Colm is also survived by his loving sister, Ita Fitzgerald (Michael) of Dingle, Co. MARRIOTT, Marnie 1919 - 2000 Marnie's remarkable life came to a peaceful close November 3, 2009, at age 90. Dear sister-in-law of Lois Marriott of Burlington, very special Aunt to Mary-Frances Fox of Hamilton, Charles Marriott of Waterdown and Alison McAuley of Pickering, their spouses and to the three young McAuley children. Marnie rejoins her parents Lillian and Charles E. Marriott and brothers Charlie and Frank, already at rest. A proud granddaughter of the Helliwell clan of Todmorden, and of Ontario's first OPP chief Major Joseph Rogers, Marnie was born in West Flamborough, and attended Westdale Collegiate in Hamilton. She went off to University College, U of T, studying sciences and joining the Kappa Kappa Gamma organization as a lifelong member. Marnie worked at Taylor Statten Camps and the Bolton Fresh Air Camp, and as a researcher at Sick Children's Hospital and CIL before building a career in aviation medicine with the Defence Research Board in Ottawa. She won a prized posting to Washington in the 1970s and brought her 83 year old mother Lillian along to live there for several stimulating years. In retirement she cared beautifully for her mother and served as a docent at the National Gallery, then moved to Toronto in 1985, to enjoy the arts scene and family and friends in the GTA. Marnie was a political junkie, a fashionista, a golfer, and a Muskoka cottager who mixed a good martini. Her delightful sense of humour and genuine knack for friendship enriched her life and others', making pals near and far as she travelled the world and kept in touch. The family gratefully thanks all the staff of Belmont House, Marnie's home of the past four years. Private burial. BAKER Robert James (Jim) September 9, 1925 - November 3, 2009 It is with great sadness that Jim's family announces his peaceful passing at the age of 84. He retired to enjoy life on his boat, golfing, curling, and participating in countless family events. BRADLEY William (Warren) William (Warren) Bradley of Hope, BC passed away on November 2, 2009 at the age of 66 years. Formerly of Delta, BC where he and Chris raised their 4 children. Warren was a welder/steel fabricator for over 35 yrs but his main passion was working on classic cars and hot rods. He is survived by son Tim Bradley and wife Debbie. Grandchildren Tyler and Kayli. Daughter Simone Ashe. Granddaughters Vanessa, Amanda, Marissa, Taylor, Melissa, Emily and Haley. Son Jeff Bradley and wife Lisa. Grandson Caleb. Son Matt Bradley. Also survived by his brother (car club partner) Truman Bradley and wife Pat of Telkwa, BC. Nephew Sean and niece Aleah. Sister Louise Evangelista and husband Mario. Niece Anita and family. Warren spent the last 8 years by his loving companion Kelly Wood's side. (Mother of Katie and Robert). They enjoyed searching for antiques, attending old car shows, watching the salmon run in their back yard, and had the recent privilege of fulfilling Warren's wish to see the Butchart Gardens. BUTT Douglas Robert Born in Vancouver April 29, 1916. Passed away in Kelowna on October 19, 2009 at the age of 93 years. The only child of Lily May (Shewan) and William Butt, and predeceased by his son Richard Harold Butt (1983). He served in the RCAF in WWII. Proud owner for 60 years of Butt & Bowes Food Equipment Ltd., 1936 - 1996. His values of honesty, hard work and good manners made him a well respected member of the business community. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marjorie and business partner of 68 years, his daughter Shannon Graham (Anthony MD), of Toronto, his son William of Coquitlam, daughter-in-law Sheila of Vancouver. Douglas is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Mark Graham (Catherine), Heather McCourt (Bryan) all of Toronto, Suzanne Henderson (Darcy) of Saskatoon, Ryan Butt of Vancouver, Ross Butt, Katrina Butt both of Victoria, Kevin Butt of Coquitlam, Amanda Butt of Victoria, as well as four great-grandchildren. LEITCH Raymond Alexander 1938-2009 Ray passed away peacefully November 2, 2009 with his sons and daughter-in-Iaws by his side. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley Milligan and is survived by his sons Ian (Courtenay), Alan (Leanne), his granddaughter Ricci and grandsons Evan, Carson and Jacob. Also by his brother-in-Iaw Allen Milligan (Elizabeth), nephew Laurie, niece Debbie (Gerry), Casey and Kelly. Ray was born in Vancouver and grew up in West Point Grey. He spent most of his working life in the seafood import/export business. He also spent tireless hours volunteering with DeMolay, Kiwanis and The Federal Conservative Party. Ray loved working, traveling, cooking and spoiling his grandchildren and by the size of his address book all of his many friends. A celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday, November 14,2009 at 2:00pm at The Plaza 500 Hotel, 500 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, BC. CUNNINGHAM, Sean 1944 2009 Died November 4, 2009, peacfully at home with his family around him in Victoria BC. After 44 years in Toronto, Sean and his wife Margaret retired to Victoria in 2007 to escape the Ontario winters and to be with their grandchildren. Sean leaves his loving wife Margaret, sons Noel (Jannah) and Colin, grandsons Andrew, Daniel and Liam, sisters Colette, Margie and Marian (John), niece Alyson, nephews Jason and Iain (Caroline) and a large extended family in Toronto, Dublin,Ireland and Glasgow, Scotland. Sean will be greatly missed by his many friends in Toronto, Peterborough and Victoria. SHORE, Edith Cicely Cicely passed away peacefully in Victoria on Nov. 1, 2009. Born March 20, 1925 in Tudhoe, England, Cicely was the only daughter of the late Thomas and Edith Mitchell of Yorkshire and is predeceased by her brothers Tom and Peter. She married Cyril in Stokesley, Yorkshire, in 1946 and they moved to Canada with their young family in 1962. They lived in Sorel, Quebec, for 23 years before moving to Victoria in 1985. Cyril died in 1997. Cicely's selfless and gentle nature was her trademark, as was her love for her children and their families. Cicely is survived by her sons Ian (Juli) and Brian (Kathy), daughter Valerie, grandchildren Sarah (Jason), Kate (Corey), Erin, John, Graham, Andrew and Megan and greatgrandchildren Ian, Sydney, Justin, Jacob and Stokesley. She will also be missed by many relatives and friends across Canada and around the world, including sisters-in-law Jean in Nova Scotia and Phyllis in England, and brother-in-law Harry (Ada) in England, and their families. In Victoria, her close circle included the Foord family, headed by Ted and his late wife Meg, and dear friends John and Sheila Coates. Cicely's family sincerely thanks the staff at Victoria's Douglas Care Community for their compassionate care during her final years, and especially in the last week. A service celebrating Cicely's life will be held on Friday, December 11 at 2 p.m. at McCall Bros., Johnson and Vancouver St. in Victoria. No flowers please, just your fond memories. WARREN, Marguerite Martha ( Brent) November 13, 1916: Allan Grove, B.C. November 2, 2009: Victoria B.C. Predeceased by her husband, Ernest Gordon Warren. Survived by daughter Gale Botting and husband Neil, son Derek Warren and wife Rita. Grandchildren: Gordon, Hazel, Debbie, Pattie, Megan and Jared. Greatgrandchildren: Natasha, Laurissa, Sheena, Brittany, Ashley, Nathan, Devin, Brett, Nicole and Riley. First cousins: Joe Detjen and Thelma Detjen, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret ( "Jiggs ") was born at the family ranch in the mountains west of Penticton. She learned to horseback ride while growing up in the Okanagan. Margaret met Ernest at Hedley, where he worked at the Mascot Gold Mine. The two were married in 1937. Ernest and Margaret moved to the Victoria and Sooke area with their daughter Gale. The family commercial fished on the West Coast in the Zeballos and Ucluelet areas. Nan then retired as Postmaster in Tofino. She lived a very full and interesting life. Margaret, Jiggs, Nan, will be dearly missed by all. Rosary Prayer Service will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi in Tofino on Friday evening, November 6. WHYTE, James Passed away on November 2nd 2009, having lost the love of his life, his wife Olive, only 2 months earlier. Without her, he had no reason to carry on. Born in Victoria on March 19th, 1919, Jim joined the Army and later the Air Force and was then stationed in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia during WWII working as a radar technician. This is where he met and married Olive. After the war they returned to Victoria and Jim earned a BA and BEd from UBC and taught 34 years in the Victoria School District at George Jay, North Ward, Tillicum, Oak Bay JHS, Esquimalt JHS and Reynolds HS. He is survived by his 6 children, Rick (Bonnie), Linda (Lawrence), Jim (Marion), Pat (Andy), Judy (Michael), Randy and thirteen grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his last living sibling Dick Dawes and rest of the Dawes clan. Jim's passions in life were his grandchildren, teaching, music, his family genealogy, and those occasional trips to the casino. The family would like to express its most sincere thanks to Dr Don Marshall; to Susan, Pat, Ron and the staff at Legion Manor in Saanichton who took such good care of Mom and Dad in their final years; and to the staff and volunteers at Saanich Penninsula Hospital, Palliative Care Unit who looked after both Mom and Dad in their final days. ROBITAILLE M. Normand Joseph - Le 18 octobre 2009, à l'âge de 80 ans, est décédé paisiblement Normand Joseph Robitaille, entouré des siens. Il était le fils de feu Ferdinand Robitaille et de feu Aurore Lapointe. Il laisse dans le deuil sa femme Patricia, ses enfants Keith, Rachael, Giselle, Maria, Colette et feu Kimberley. Ses petits-enfants adorés Joel, Kristopher, Amanda, Nicholas, Jacob et Laurel. Né au Massachusetts, il est déménagé avec sa famille au Québec à un très jeune âge. Au début de sa vie adulte, Normand est retourné aux États-Unis, où il a servi pendant quatre ans pour la United States Air Force à titre de cryptographe, cantonné à Washington et en Arabie Saoudite. Normand a ensuite obtenu sa maîtrise en éducation, se spécialisant dans l'administration des langues. Il était membre du 4e degré des Chevaliers de Colomb. Normand a enseigné le français, puis est devenu superviseur du programme de français en Nouvelle-Angleterre et en Nouvelle-Écosse. Sa carrière à été marquée par une passion pour le français, l'enseignement et l'instruction bilingue. Sa joie de vivre et son grand sens de la compassion ont touché de nombreuses personnes. Bien que son départ nous attriste profondément, nous garderons de lui beaucoup de souvenirs joyeux et tendres. Ses yeux bruns chaleureux et son sourire radiant resteront à jamais gravés dans nos cœurs. Le service funèbre à été célébré le samedi 24 octobre, à l'église catholique St. Ignatius, à Bedford, N.S.
