LABROSSE, Pauline Bertha (nee Belanger) - Passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on August 5th, 2009 in Edmonton with her family by her side. Survived by her children, Rose (Bengt) Jonasson, Sweden; Jeannine Pawluk, Edmonton; Diane (Jon) Pattison, Gull Lake, Alta; Ronald (Annette) Vancouver; and Denise (Frank) Amodeo, Edmonton; grandchildren, Christopher, Britt- Marie, Arlene, Michelle, Daryl, Lynne, Lauren, Marc, Matthew, and Thomas; great- grandchildren, Fanny, Nanna, Gus, Johanna, Josephine, Max, Kristina, Kory, Kyle, and Kaitlyn, as well as many nieces and nephews. Pauline was born in Campbell's Bay Quebec and moved with her family to Timmins in 1926. She married Raoul in 1936 and they raised their family on Maple Street South. Pauline moved West to be near her children following Ralph's death in 1980. Predeceased also by her sisters Alice, Rita and Jacqueline and brother Maurice. Services were held August 10, 2009 in Edmonton. Ron will bring mom home to be laid to rest beside dad. Mass Thursday October 1, 2009 at 10 am at St. Dominique Church followed by burial at Timmins Cemetery, Father Léo Rancourt officiating. “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live“ John 11:26.

Mr. Lowell A. Allen, Kingston Born on Prince Edward Island in April, 1926, son of Arthur and Louise (MacKinnon) Allen. Died at home in Kingston on September 25, 2009, at age 83. Educated at Acadia University and Dalhousie Law School. A retired vice-president of Brascan Corporation (now Brookfield Asset Management). Loved by his wife Anne (MacRae) of Kingston, Ontario, daughter Susan Silver (Lawrie) of Kingston, son Dr. David Allen (Katrin) of Sudbury, and grandchildren Kristina Silver, Amy Allen and Jason Dordevic. He also leaves his sisters Irene Inman of Ottawa, and Annabel Veale of Prince Edward Island. Predeceased by his brother Arthur of Prince Edward Island. In accordance with Lowell’s wishes, no visitation or funeral will take place. A private family service will be held at a later date. Mr. John G. (Johnnie) LaBrech, Charlottetown Peacefully, surrounded by family at the Palliative Care Unit, Prince Edward Home, on Saturday, September 26, 2009, of Mr. John G. (Johnnie) LaBrech of Cornwall, age 68 years. Long-term partner of the late Florence (Fluff) Doucette and loving father of Todd LaBrech (Benita MacConnell) of Brackley and Shelly LaBrech (Ross Hornberger) of Calgary, Alberta. Johnnie is also survived by two loving granddaughters, Holly MacPhee and Rebecca LaBrech; brothers Donnie (Drenda) and Mel (Louise); his sister Cindy (David) Bruce; brothers- and sisters-in-law Bernice (Bea) (Arnold, predeceased) Ford, Noreen (John) Lee, Leonard (Simone) Baglole, Joseph (Margie) Baglole, Barb (Len) McCardle and many nieces and nephews. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until Wednesday morning, then transferred to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Cornwall, for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow later in the family plot in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Marion June Watt (late Ronald), Jennie Mae McKeagin, Mellie Vivian Negus, James Herbert, Thomas Alford Calvin, George Lewwlling Sarson, Emma Henrietta and Martha Edna Sarson all of Nova Scotia. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Up until the age of 89 years, Emma was an avid bowler and participated and supported the Terry Fox Run. She always enjoyed her bingo games and playing the Honky-Tonk Piano. She was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge. SMILEY, Florence (Payne) - Of Albright Manor in Beamsville passed away on September 24, 2009 at West Lincoln Hospital in Grimsby in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Smiley. Florence was born in Thorold, the daughter of Frederick and Agnes (Steep) Payne. She leaves behind her sister Nora Zumstein of Albright Manor and several nieces and nephews and their families. Florence and her husband were dairy farmers for 24 years in the Silverdale area. She was a 40 year member of the Rebekah Lodge serving as Noble Grand and P.D.D.P. of Zone 15. Before her marriage she was associated with the Thorold South All People's Mission as a Sunday school teacher and C.G.I.T. leader. She was also a 60 year member of the Women's Institute and a member of Wesley United Church in Welland. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visit the family at the H.L. Dear father to Robbin Orosz (Jim) of Port Colborne, Rick Stayzer of Calgary, Allen Stayzer (Wendy) of Edmonton, Connie Green (Brent) of Dundalk, Donna Stayzer of Fort Erie and special friends Sean Bryan (Linda, Lilly and Jake). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Jeff (Joan) Orosz, Heather Orosz (Ron Deschamp), Kim Orosz, Cali Jean Stayzer, Miles (Ashley) Green and Mackenzie Green. DRINKWATER, Marylou (nee) Winger - Died peacefully at her residence on Thursday September 24, 2009 in her 80th year. Survived by children Howard Drinkwater (Judy), Carol Hunter (Bill), Susan Drinkwater, Debby Gaboury and Lori Boyko (Ken) 10 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in- law Edith Winger and Rita Terryberry. Predeceased by husband, of fifty years, Earl Drinkwater and brothers Edward and William. Special thanks to the staff and Dr. Scheer at Garrison Place for their exceptional care. At Marylou's request there will be no visitation, and there will be a private family ceremony. MILLS, Malcom Forest 1923 - 2009 On Friday, September 25 peacefully at the West Island Palliative Care Residence. Malcolm left us to follow the love of his love (Lena) who passed away September 2 after 62 years of marriage. FOX , Viola Mary Viola Mary Fox passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the age of 96 years. Vi is survived by her daughter Barbara (Ray) Brandt, her grandchildren Nadine Kolodychuk and Curtis (Shelley) Brandt, and her great-grandchildren Kayla Foster-Brandt, Rachel Kolodychuk and Jarret Kolodychuk. She was predeceased by her husband John Fox, her brothers William and David Dixon, and her sister Gladys Crawford. Vi began her working career as a teacher in a one room school in Saskatchewan. She worked with the Bank of Montreal in Regina, and for FarmStart with the Government of Saskatchewan. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, sewing and baking. Vi enjoyed time with her friends and especially with her family. Together they created and shared many memories. She was a very kind, caring and loving person. She will be greatly missed. During her lifetime, Clara and Eddy operated a convenience store in Chelmsford, then she worked at Bijouterie Vaillancourt, followed by the I.G.A. Again, she found herself side by side with Eddy at St-Joseph school. Later she was offered to work at Valley Fashions. She also aided her daughter Monique at the Vermillion Lake Marina for several years. But nothing pleased Clara more than having cared for most of her grand-children. Clara will be especially remembered for her quick wit, kindness and feistiness. She wished her children to love each other always and to remain in good physical condition so that they may enjoy life to the fullest. She hopes that her family will also remember the happy moments they shared, and not forget the love she gave them throughout their lives. The family would like to extend a great thanks to the Emergency staff at the General Hospital and the South 4th Palliative staff at Laurentian Hospital. A special heart-felt thank you to Père Tremblay from Dowling. At Mrs. Rheaume's request, there will be no visitations or funeral service. A private burial will take place at a later date. Frère Yvon Cormier, csc - Au Foyer Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur de Dieppe, N.-B., le dimanche 27 septembre 2009, est décédé Frère Yvon Cormier, csc. Né à Moncton le 6 septembre 1925, il était fils de feu Tilmon Cormier et Sara Cormier. Il est entré au Monastère des Trappistes de Rogersville le 19 septembre 1943. Il y a fait sa première profession le 27 avril 1946 sous le nom de frère Anselme. Il est sorti de l'Ordre des Cisterciens pour se joindre à la Congrégation de Sainte-Croix le 1er novembre 1955, date de sa prise d'habit. Il a fait sa première profession au Noviciat de la Congrégation de Sainte-Croix à Pointe-Claire (Qué bec) le 4 novembre 1956. De 1956 à 1958, il était membre de la communauté du Collège Saint-Joseph, à Memramcook. De 1958 à 1962, il a accompli les fonctions de cuisinier et de buandier au Noviciat Notre-Dame-de-Sainte-Croix, de Pré-d'en-Haut. De 1962 à 1966, il revenait comme sacristain et aide-relieur au Collège Saint-Joseph de Memramcook. De 1966 à 1988, il a rempli diverses fonctions à la Maison Sainte-Croix de Pré-d'en-Haut. C'est pendant cette période qu'il fera connaître son amitié pour les animaux. De nombreuses personnes ont alors visité le mini-zoo qu'il y avait mis sur pied. De 1988 à 2003, il est affecté à l'entretien à la Résidence Sainte-Croix, rue Kendra à Moncton. Pendant quelques années, il devait prêter son concours à la cuisine de la Maison Nazareth de Monc ton, à titre de bénévole. À compter de 2004, il continuera de remplir diverses fonctions reliées à l'entretien général et au jardinage, à la Résidence Sainte-Croix de Monc ton. À part sa famille religieuse, il laisse dans le deuil une soeur et ses frères: Dora de Moncton, Hervé de Californie, Roger de Moncton, Bernard de Saint-Hubert, Qc et Emery de Waltham, Mass. En plus de ses parents, l'ont précédé dans la tombe ses frères et soeurs: Hélène, Gérard, Aurèle, Édouard, Corinne, Germaine, Léo, Edna et Paul. La dépouille mortelle sera expo sée à la Maison funéraire de Char tersville, le mardi 29 septembre, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h. Le mardi à 20h30, il y aura prière communautaire et échange de souvenirs. Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Sainte-Thérèse de Dieppe, le mercredi 30 septembre, à 11h. He will be sadly missed by his sons William (Charlene), Richard (Katherine), Terrance and Kevin (Katherine) and his eight grandchildren and five great grandsons. Also survived by his two brothers Freeman and Leonard and close friend Mary McDowell and her family. He was predeceased by his son Glenn and brother Earl. Bob was ordained as a United Church Minister in 1958 and served a number of congregations in Ontario and Quebec. In addition he took great pride in his involvement in establishing Stride Assistance for the Disabled and Daybreak Non-Profit Shelter. DAVIDSON , Robert "Bruce" September 25, 1929 - September 26, 2009 On Saturday, September 26, 2009, Jesus called Bruce Davidson to His side. We rejoice that Bruce is now with his Lord, but we are saddened with the loss of our devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Shirley; his children, Mary (Brad) Baker, Ann, Charlie (Shauna), and May (Rick) Perizzolo; and his grandchildren, Devin, Kendra, Cole, Dylan, Mikayla, Athena, Isabella, Connor, and Charleigh. Bruce was born in Walkerville, Ont. and spent his childhood in Lindsay, Ont., where he began his retail career with Zellers and met his future wife, Shirley. He is remembered by many whom he mentored and guided throughout his forty-one years with the company. Bruce's true passion was always his family. Nothing was more important to him, and every member of his family has been blessed with his wisdom, guidance, support, and love. His family is his greatest achievement. Bruce also touched many lives with his music. He sang with the Calgary Philharmonic Choir for over thirty years, and his tenor voice, rich and beautiful, praised the Lord with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church choir. Bruce will be remembered as a man who always put family first, was kind and generous to everyone he met, filled hearts with joy and music, delighted in making people laugh, and lived and loved well. ROBISON , Hildegard (Hilde) Maria August 17, 1927 - September 24, 2009 On March 18, 1945 as the second World War was nearing its end, Hildegard Freissmann packed one small suitcase and took the first great journey of her life. With her cousin's wife as her sole companion she boarded a refugee ship to leave Danzig, her home for the first seventeen years of her life. It would be months before she would learn that her parents and brother had survived the war. It would be some forty-four years before she visited Danzig again. In late September 1957 Hilde took her second great journey. She and a friend boarded a ship to sail for Canada. She meant to stay a year - she stayed for the rest of her life. Residing in Calgary, Hilde was committed to raising her three sons, Christian, Andreas (Heather) and Derrick (Susan) Pagenkopf. She was a source of love and wisdom to her family especially her grandchildren, Hannah, Ginger, Erika, Heidi, and Jesse. On September 24, 2009 Hilde took her final great journey with Jesus as her sole companion, unafraid and at peace. She spent her final days with the characteristic faith, grace, and dignity that made her so beautiful. Those who knew her will remember her gentle strength, her gracious demeanor, her wonder at the world around her and her sense of humour. We will miss her. REA , Carolina "Lina" (nee Colombo) May 22, 1927 - September 22, 2009 Lina was born to Maria Libera and Arcangelo Colombo in Bonefro, Campobasso, Italy. Lina married Michelino Rea on January 16, 1947 and immigrated to Calgary in June of 1956. Lina was devoted to her family, and loved to work in her garden. Lina had a natural ability to grow flowers, she had a passion for roses having an American Beauty bush which she tended to for over thirty years. Lina was a very generous person, she enjoyed cooking, with a special talent making breads, pasta dishes and baking for her grandchildren. Lina will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Lina leaves to mourn her loving son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Marian Rea; their children Patrick and Nicole; her daughter Nyckie Rea; sister, Adelina Massarelli of Montreal; brother and sister-in-law, Luigi and Domenica Colombo and their family, Marylee (Boni), Tony (Angela) and Victor Colombo; sister-in-law, Antionetta Colombo and her family, Angelo, Maria (Murray) and Pina (Leonard) all of Calgary; sister-in-law, Lucia Colombo and her family, Arcangelo and Maria (Pietro) all of Montreal, as well as several extended family in Canada and Italy.
