BAILEY, J. Felicia (nee Barton) Peacefully at the Maxville Manor on June 18, 2009 after a long life of faithfulness to God. Felicia was born in St. Lucia on March 30, 1925 and raised in Barbados. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, the Rev. Dr. Frank Bailey (2000), to whom she was a devoted and loving wife, and by their first-born son John (1976). She is survived by son Anthony (Wendy) and daughters Marcia and Joan (Mike), to whom she was a dedicated, faithful and loving mother. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Christopher, Alisa, Chania, Michelle, Kristen, John, Michael, Emily, and great grand-mother to Caliana. She also loved her many nieces and nephews and their families. Felicia, an accomplished seamstress and gardener, was also gifted in the art of crocheting. She worked for years in the nursing field caring for patients in the Montreal General Hospital. She was distinguished by her singing voice and the way she proclaimed the gospel of Christ through music. Whether it was during worship, on the radio in Barbados, at home or at work, with the voice of an angel she ministered with praise to the glory of God and the encouragement of others. She was a faithful disciple of Christ who never failed to sing the Lords' song. BOWES, Trilby Mae It is with great sadness that we announce the passing at home on Wednesday, 17 June 2009, of our precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Trilby Mae Bowes. Born 28 September, 1923 in Halifax, NS, Mummy was the tenth and youngest child of Thomas Battye Rhindress and Lulu Mildred Fisher. Despite childhood health setbacks, she grew up to be a beautiful, charming woman who married William Henry Bowes in 1944. Their journey through life produced two female offspring (who proved to be a huge disruption to their idyllic life!). That journey continued with them all moving in 1955 to Ontario and living in Deep River, Peterborough and Ottawa. Wherever we lived, our mother made a beautiful home for the family, entertained with flair, did volunteer work and expressed her multi-faceted creative talents through flower arranging, leatherwork, copper tooling, decorating, etc, as well as an exquisite wardrobe. She always looked fabulous! With Bill, she travelled the globe, but their favourite destination was Nova Scotia with its family, friends and ocean breezes. Until, that is, they experienced the joys of grand- and great-grandchildren when their travels turned to the west. Following Bill's passing in 1999, Mummy continued to live in Ottawa until a year ago when she moved to Maple Ridge, BC, to be close to the family. She is survived by daughters, Carolyn (Peter) Simpson, Surrey, BC; Roberta (Ted) Audrain, Pitt Meadows, BC; granddaughter, Christa (Mike) Bisset, Mission, BC; adored great-granddaughters, Emma Bisset and Maddy Bisset; Ted's daughter, Darcie Audrain, Mission, BC; Peter's two daughters, Emily (Alex McMullen) Simpson and their daughter, Grace McMullen; Natalie Simpson, all of Toronto, ON; brother-in-law, Harold Bowes, Dartmouth, NS; several nieces and nephews; and, extra-special giver of care and friendship, Doris Logan, Orleans, ON. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Mummy was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Roland (1992), Frank (1994), Raymond (in infancy), Claude (mid-1980s), Francis (1996), Lloyd (1991), Grace (in infancy), Wanda (2006), Max (1989); and her stillborn daughter, Beverly (1953). SMITH, Ellen Orlick Peacefully on 13 June 2009, predeceased by her beloved husband George on 13 June 2001. Ellen and George grew up in Hamilton and were married June 1935. They moved to Ottawa in 1950 and established Randall's Paints and ColorSmiths, and were active in Kinsmen and Kinettes. They were equal partners in business and life. Left to laugh, cry, and retell her stories are their two "perfect" daughters, Patricia Ann Menconi Garrett (John) of Houston and Jennifer Ellen Salahub (Dennis) of Calgary. Grandmother to Debra, Al (Erica) and David (Marcy). Great-grandma Ellen to: Britney and Trey; Brooke, Sonia, Elyse and Xander; Sasha, Suzette, Tiffany, Skylar and Cole. STIRTON, Gladys After 94 years of love, friendships and laughter Gladys has left this world for the next adventure. For those she left behind to mourn, along with the sorrow, there will be gratitude for so many wonderful memories. She was born in Calgary on August 25, 1914 to Neil and Mary Peach, sister to Jim (Jean). For 57 years she was married to Alec Stirton (deceased) and together they raised Valerie (Roy Orr), David (deceased) and Janet (Dale Potter). She had seven grandchildren; Braydon, Kenzie, Shannon, Shelley, Steven, Schenley and Spencer as well as seven great grandchildren. She shared her love and good humour with her Calgary nephews and nieces, Allie, Mike, Pat and David. Her Potter family was a constant source of joy and support. She was proud to be Fordy's Mamma. Born during the First World War, a teenager during the Great Depression, she waved goodbye to her husband and school friends as they departed to fight in the Second World War. During her lifetime she marveled at, what were probably, the greatest advancements of mankind that any generation has witnessed. She traveled the world from Europe to Malaysia but her most prized souvenirs were always the friendships she made and maintained. The vastness of her life experiences polished her character to a fine brilliance. "She was a magnificent woman." Glady was so thankful to her friend Robert Crozier for their recent four wonderful years of youthful romance revisited. There will be a remembrance, to honour Gladys, at a later date. MANES, Antonio December 17, 1935 - June 9, 2009 After a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer, Tony has found peace. He passed away on June 9 at the age of seventy-three. Predeceased by his loving and kind wife Marion. Father of Larry (Kathy) and grandfather to Laurie, Lisa and Lianna. The family is extremely grateful for the tremendous care and support provided by Alison Powell and her team from the CCAC Halton, Elizabeth Ball from the Red Cross Halton, his friends from the Meeting House and everyone else who made it possible for Tony to pass away at home. Born in Montreal on September 6, 1928, he lived most of his life there, working in the arts and raising a family. He worked as a producer and director in theatre, film, and television, and was most proud of the 1970s television series Witness to Yesterday, which he created, produced and directed. He was a loving father to Michael and Jijian, a mentor to many, and a neighbor and friend to those residing at the Performance Arts Lodge in Toronto. DONALDSON , Margaret Maude Margaret passed away peacefully June 17, 2009 at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital with her family by her side. She is survived by one son, John (Dell) and one daughter, Anne (Paul); grandchildren, Carrie-Anne (Greg), Bruce (Jodi), Kelli-Anne (Gilbert) and Steven, as well as four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob); sisters, Norma and Jean. Born in Brantford, Ontario, Margaret received her RN degree at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital. She served in the Canadian Army during World War Two as Lt. Nursing Sister, No. 8 Canadian General Hospital. Following the war, Margaret married her love, Bob Donaldson. They lived in Brooks, AB, and then Calgary, where they remained, retiring to Victoria in 1980. Margaret was Past President and Honorary member of the Calgary Samaritan Club, Town and Country Garden Club, an artist and avid gardener. At Margaret's request, there will be no Funeral. DROBOT , Thomas November 15, 1928 - June 18, 2009 Tom Drobot passed away suddenly at the Peter Lougheed Centre at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Ray (Ann); his brother Harry, and sisters Victoria Kozody and Joan Wozny all of Selkirk, MB; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Tom was born near Selkirk, Manitoba and moved to Calgary where he has lived most of his adult life. He worked for Calgary Transit for more than thirty years until his retirement. BOULTER , Ralph David February 11, 1922 - May 18, 2009 Dad lost his last battle against cancer, having fought the good fight several times since first diagnosed twenty years ago. Born in Empress, Alberta, Dad, with his pioneering parents, Aaron and Anna Boulter and siblings, farmed in Acadia Valley, Esther and Oyen, Alberta. He attended Olds Agricultural College in 1939 - 1940. In 1941 he joined the Army and then re-mustered to the RCAF. He and his brother Fred went overseas in December 1941, arriving in England on Christmas Day. There he became a member of the 417 Squadron. In 1943 he was part of the North Africa campaign against Rommel, "The Desert Fox". Dad married Grace Todd of Oyen, Alberta in 1945 and had one daughter, Bonnie. He joined Massey Harris (Ferguson) in 1945 in Calgary and retired as the District Sales Manager for Western Canada in 1979. In 1978, he married Irene Turner and together they happily and successfully farmed in Kyle, Saskatchewan. Dad pursued his love of aviation obtaining his pilot's license and owned or co-owned several Cessnas over the years. In later years Dad moved to Trochu, Alberta where he worked for Trochu Motors and lived on his small acreage just outside Trochu where he enjoyed reading, carpentry, inventing, gardening and using good old pioneering know-how and at the age of seventy-five, Dad obtained his glider pilot's license. Left to mourn his death is his daughter Bonnie; sisters Monica Smyth King and Joan Tullikopf (John); brother Jock (Esther) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Fred. Dad, you were father, friend and encourager to me. You took pride and interest in all my endeavors. Your dog, Pat III and I will miss you beyond words. Woodman Lake will never be the same without you. Your handyman print is all over it and I will miss my fishing buddy. There will be an Open House at the Senior's Drop-In Centre in Trochu on Sunday, August 9, between 2:00 and 5:00 for family and friends in the area to tell stories and share memories. WRIGHT, Karl S. - A resident of Blenheim, Karl Wright passed away at the Chatham- Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the age of 79. Born in Howard Township, son of the late Justus and Vera (Tompkins) Wright. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Kyle) Wright (1993). Brother of the late Garnet Wright, Evelyn Paine, and Reefa Magee. Karl is survived by several nieces and nephews. Karl retired from K.S.R. in Ridgetown following 45 years of service. He was a member and Past Master of Kent Lodge #274 A.F. & A.M., Royal Arch Masons, and the Blenheim Shrine Club. He was a former Director of the Blenheim Senior's Centre, and the Blenheim Blades Hockey Club. SPENCER, David G. - It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, papa and brother, David G. Spencer, at age 78, surrounded by his very loving family. He is survived and sadly missed by his wife Hannelore of 55 years, with a beautiful life together; by his loving children, Romy (Jamie) and John (Lisa); his grandsons Jason, Joshua, and Justin; his sisters and brothers, Margery (Frank), Edward (Carol), Robert (deceased), Philip (Maureen), Kathleen (Russell), Elaine (John deceased) and Linda (Robert); and predeceased by his parents Gwendolyn and Lancelot Spencer. Dave was born in Port Arthur and enjoyed living in Thorold where his father was born in 1896. He was an all-around family man, a very loving husband and father, and a proud papa. He admired beauty and harmony. Exploring nature, planting trees, animals and finding rare rocks were his favourite pastimes after working for GM (Production Control) for 30 years. Donations to Canadian Cancer Research in David Spencer's name are most appreciated. Many thanks to Dr. Sandra Hartman and nurses for their kindness and care.
