MONTAGUE, F. Douglas “Doug“ - It is with great sadness that his family announces the passing of F. Douglas Montague, with his children at his side, on Friday, March 27th, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (nee Shotton) (1983). He will be forever remembered by his son Doug (Mary), of Gibsons, B.C. and his daughter Bev Matthews (Dave), of Richmond Hill, ON. Survived by his brothers and sisters Muriel Rolfe, Joyce Strevel, David, Grace Nixon, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Doug had a long and successful career of over 40 years with Union Gas Company. He also made many contributions to the community as a member of the Rotary Club for over 50 years, a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, Past President of the Brantford Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the United Way. Over his lifetime, Doug was an avid golfer and curler, and especially enjoyed family time at his cottage on Crane Lake. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Ave. on Tuesday from 11 - 1 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. NADEAU Simone Bédard - 1921-2009 Au CSSS du Grand-Littoral, CHSLD Sainte-Marie, le 18 mars 2009, à l'âge de 88 ans et 1 mois, est décédée dame Simone Bédard, épouse de M. Roland Nadeau. Elle demeurait à Sainte-Hénédine. Les funérailles ont eu lieu lundi le 23 mars 2009 à 11h en l'église de Sainte-Hénédine et de là, au cimetière paroissial. La direction des funérailles a été confiée à la maison funéraire Nouvelle Vie inc., Ste-Marie. MONGEON, Réal - Il nous a quittés paisiblement le 25 mars 2009, à quelques jours de ses 90 ans. Il était l'époux de feu Antoinette Joanis et le fils de feu Antoine Mongeon et de feu Louise Pagé. Il laisse dans le deuil sa soeur Yvonne, son frère Rolland, sa filleule Johanne Limmer, son filleul Carol Scantland, son neveu par alliance Roger Joanisse et de nombreux neveux, nièces et parents. Il fut prédécédé par plusieurs frères et soeurs. Il n'y aura pas de visite à la maison funéraire. Un service religieux, en présence des cendres, sera célébré à une date ultérieure. CETI, Olimpio “Floro“ - In loving memory of Olimpio “Floro“ Ceti, 83 years, who passed away suddenly at home, Thursday March 26th, 2009. He arrived from Italy in 1958 with his wife and son to start a better life for his family. His final legacy will be carried on through his children and grandchildren. Through his many long years working with tiles he perfected his craftsmanship. He was a hard worker and a perfectionist, his workmanship is displayed throughout the Sudbury area, malls, commercial and industrial buildings, and in the homes of the fortunate people, who were lucky enough to find him available. Floro had a great love of life, his family, gardening and vino making. He was a wonderful story teller and always had a story for anyone who would listen. He enjoyed travelling to warm destinations like Mexico, Cuba and Italy, where he found a fresh audience. He was a proud and happy man. Beloved husband of Costanza (Cacciotti) Ceti predeceased 1972 and Wanda (Gavallucci) Ceti of Sudbury. Loving father and stepfather of Sonia Boeswald (Ernie), Miria Lumley, Adelmo Ceti (Nancy), Dino Cacciotti (Cindy), Remy Cacciotti (Bonnie) and Lina Rybachuk (John). Cherished Nonno of Reniessa predeceased, Keggan, Cohen, Grayson, Joshua, Thera (Craig), Trevor, Talia, Cody (Christina), Kaitlin, Tina, Tricia (Joel), Jody (Jen), and great grandchildren Kyle and Russell. Dear son of Adelmo and Nilde (Teglia) Ceti both predeceased. Dear brother of Bice and Vasco both of Italy, predeceased by Osvaldo and Mario. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten by all who loved him. COLE, Isabella "Bella" (nee Carey) - Peacefully with grace and dignity after a courageous battle with lung disease at Manoir Parent on Thursday, March 26, 2009, in her eighty-fourth year. Predeceased by her husband Harry and her parents George and Hannah, brother Albert and sister Margaret. Cherished loving mother of Bruce (Barbara Pingatore), Barbara (Jim Arsenault), Debbie, Keith Baddeley, Glenn (Chantal Bordeleau), very special nanny to Megan, Chelsea, Kristen, Garrett, Tyler, Tiffany. Also survived by loving sister (and very best friend) Christina Birch and brothers George and Sammy, other relatives and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all. As per her wishes, a direct cremation was held and a memorial service will take place from the chapel of the White & Sons Funeral Home, 3555 Metcalfe, Rawdon, QC, on Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. Interment of ashes to follow. STUNZI, Thelma Marie (nee Johnson) July 30, 1920 - March 25, 2009 Thelma Marie passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on March 25, 2009 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Swift Current, SK but spent most of her life in Calgary. She was especially proud of having reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the Navy during WWII. Thelma loved her family most of all. Mom was witty, sharp as a tack and courageous right to the end. She will be lovingly remembered by daughters Marie (Bruce) and Wendy (Gary) and sisters Ruth (Bob) and Naomi. Thelma will be missed by her six grandchildren: Gina, Troy, Tim, Nadine, Paul and Laura and her great-grandchildren: Cassandra, Brenden, Graeme, Joanna, Owen and soon to be born great-grandson. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Marcel in 1985, her son Michael John in 1994 and her brother Oliver. CRIGHT, Alcide Michel 1916-2009 Alcide (Sid) Cright a gentle nature, a heart of gold, these are the memories we will always hold. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 8th, 2009 at the Granite Ridge Continuing Care Residence in Ottawa. He was born in Ottawa June 19, 1916. Son of the late loving parents Alexandre Sr. and Josephine. He married Anita Rita Poulin, in 1938. A loving devoted wife who deceased in 1994. Predeceased by brother Alex Jr.; brother Romeo; sister Germaine; sister-in-law Marie Murphy; brother-in-law Danny Poulin; mother-in-law Priscilla Poulin. Survivors: adored father of a loving son Michel (Renee); loving daughter Aline Poulin-Rump (Roy); loving daughter Elizabeth D'Angelo (Angelo); a dear sister, Fernande Cright; a dear sister Jacqueline Cloutier; caring grandson Scott Taylor (Cheryl); loving granddaughter Adrienne Lesage (Frederic); loving grandson Eric D'Angelo (Sarah); great grandson Kevin Taylor (18); cherished loving and great grandfather of Lea Lesage born on January 13, 2009 and he met her on Valentine's Day; many nephews and nieces and cousins; brother-in-law Cliff Poulin (Marjorie); brother-in-law Eddy Poulin (Alice); companion and loving friend Kay Walker; also, he will be missed by his loyal friend Bailey (Elizabeth's puggle), who never missed his weekly visits with him. Loved by many, Sid was a hard working man from age 15 as Class A Mechanic at the Old Standard Bread Company for many many years until they closed the doors. He later worked for Morrison Lamothe. He had many hobbies such as rod iron, carpentry, art and picture framing. He read a lot of books and could make anything he put his mind to. A very intelligent man. Alcide (Sid) always so loving, thoughtful and kind. What beautiful memories you leave behind. You may have left this world behind, but you will never leave our hearts and mind. GRUNDY, Frederick Joseph - Fred passed away peacefully in his 81st year on March 27 at Park Lane Terrace, Paris with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean (Wilson), his five daughters, Suzanne (Kelly) Searles, Brantford, Ann (Paul) Stuart, Princeton, Cathy Stemeroff, Kitchener, Mary (Garth) Brownscombe, Peterborough, and Joan Grundy, Waterloo, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Fred is also survived by his brother Robert Grundy, two sisters, Helen Malone and Jean Waring, and sister-in-law Joan Simon and her husband Joe. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Marie. Fred retired from Gates Rubber where he was an accountant for 30 years. Before his illness he was an active member of St. Pius X Parish. He loved people and was generous of heart and in this spirit made many contributions to his community. He was a very active member of the Brant Catholic Separate School Board for 30 years where he served in the capacity of trustee and chair of the board. He was a treasurer for the Arthritis Society, and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and Red Cross blood donor clinics. Fred was an honourary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a gifted speaker and taught the St. Christopher course in public speaking. In life, Fred found a nice balance of working hard and playing hard. He thoroughly enjoyed making people laugh and always had a quick “one liner“. He was an avid golfer and he and his wife Jean enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Texas with friends and family. Fred's wife, children and grandchildren were inspired by his tenacious courage and strength in facing his decade long battle with Alzheimer's. Fred's five daughters would like to acknowledge and thank their mother for the unconditional love and tireless support she gave their father. Friends and family will be received at DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross, Brantford on Saturday March 28 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday March 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers combined with a family led prayer service in celebration of Fred's life will take place Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A mass of resurrection will be celebrated on Monday March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 9 Waverly Street, Brantford. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. ROBERTS, Charles Morley Suddenly at his home in Ottawa on March 26, 2009. Son of the late Morley and Helen Roberts of Moncton, N.B. Greatly missed by his daughter Meghan Roberts, Cary and the little one. Also survived by his sister Nancy Lee and her husband Firman Bentley of Sarnia, Ontario; by his nephews and niece Paul and his wife Zena, Lee Anne and her husband Don, and Craig and his wife Jennifer. His great niece and nephews, Saara, Javed, James, Charlie and Cameron will all miss seeing their uncle Morely. Morley made good friends wherever he went. He will be missed and long remembered by a great number of friends, especially Linda, those at the Camera Club, Jack Purcell Community Centre, the R. A. Centre and SAW Video Co-op in Ottawa; as well as by relatives and friends in Moncton, Cape Breton and Sarnia. Morley was a native of Moncton, where he was an active Air Cadet. Upon moving to Ottawa with his family he began his service in the Army Reserves. Prior to his retirement he worked with the Canal Service and Canada Post. In this life Morley accumulated a vast store of knowledge and a broad intellect. When stuck for information, you asked Morley. He participated in a wide range of activities from flying gliders to directing a current affairs show, "To the Point", to judo for people with disabilities, but above all he was an avid photographer and had a passion for images. Friends may join the family to celebrate Morley's life at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Monday, March 30 from 6-8 p.m. and at a Memorial Service in the Chapel on Tuesday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the summer at Ingonish (Cape Breton). SWAIN, Frederick Joshua - Peacefully after a brief illness at the Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, Ontario on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the grand age of 101 years. He was the youngest son of Joshua Swain and Ellen Hunter. He was born on November 17, 1907 on the family farm on the Tenth Line in Cavan Township, Ontario. Fred was the brother to 5 siblings; Clark, Bill, Margaret, Murtle and Helen, who have all predeceased him. He earned his education in a one room school house in Cavan and then took his high school matriculation in Millbrook and Lindsay. He decided early on an education rather than a life on the farm. Fred started his working life in Toronto, in the brokerage business but his career was changed by the Great Depression and he joined the forestry division of Ontario Hydro, remaining there until his retirement. He met and married his future wife, an Acton, Ontario girl, Margaret E. Price in 1933 and was her constant companion and partner until her death in 2000. Fred will be sorely missed by his sons Frederick Clifford and his wife Sandra and David Keith and his wife Jane. Proud grandfather of Larissa (Scott), Ashley (Dan), Melanie (David), Richard (Jen), Michael (Nicole), Philip, Kevin and Andrew as well as 6 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered and missed by his dear friend Marjorie. Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) Kingston, on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm, the Reverend Doctor Lincoln Bryant officiating. DODGE, Arthur George On Monday March 23, 2009 at Fairview Manor in Almonte at age 85. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Cluskey). Loving father of Susan Dodge, Barbara Lock (Tony), and Peter Dodge (Sue). Proud grandfather of Matthew, Sam, Hilary, Heather and Stephen. Predeceased by sister Phyllis Keeling (Cam) and parents Dr. Gordon Dodge and Dora (Kidd) Dodge. Also survived by nieces Judith Hobart (Garry), and Kathy Dent (Brian). Arthur was born on August 17, 1923 in North Bay. Shortly afterwards, the family moved to Hamilton where Arthur grew up in a loving household, playing sports and attending to his school work. After graduating from Central Collegiate, he attended McMaster University where he played the violin in the University orchestra and studied Chemistry. He then transferred to the University of Western Ontario and enrolled in the first-ever Radio Physics program. This education led to a distinguished career in the field of security and intelligence, beginning with Canadian Arsenals and culminating in the position of Deputy Chief at the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) in Ottawa. While Arthur and Mary raised their young family in Markham Ontario, he played on the Markham Aces which won the Ontario B Softball Championships in 1952. Mary and Arthur curled out of the Unionville Club, where Arthur was a member of the team which won the Governor General's Trophy in 1960. Arthur's true passion was golf and he was a long-time member of the Mississippi Golf Club in Carleton Place where he shot his age when he was 76. He was involved in sport and recreation as a volunteer in Carleton Place, serving as President of the Carleton Place Curling Club and Chair of the Board of Parks and Recreation. Arthur also had a deep love for art and developed his own unique painting style using some of the techniques of his hero, Pablo Picasso. Of his over 100 paintings, many hang in homes and organizations as far away as Scotland. Arthur will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family would like to thank Valerie Ford, who cared for Arthur over the last three years and who Arthur came to think of as his good and trusted friend. In addition, the family thanks Jackie Stach, who also cared for Arthur and was instrumental in his treatment. A celebration of Arthur's life will take place on Thursday April 2, 2009 commencing at 1:30 p.m. at the Carleton Place Curling Club, 120 Patterson Cres. Carleton Place, Ontario. HUTCHISON, Eric William - On March 25, at the age of eighty-seven years, Eric Hutchison died peacefully in Cambridge, England. Born and raised in Montreal, Eric served in the Navy during the war, worked for the International Labour Office in Geneva, and was ordained an Anglican priest in the 1950s. With his wife Elspeth he taught theology in Uganda for many years and was the proud father of David, Kate, Sarah and Mark, all living in England.
