McCONVILLE, James - August 27, 1924 - March 17, 2009 From Lurgan, Northern Ireland, to Ottawa, Ontario and on to his final days in Prince Rupert, BC, we celebrate 84 years of a fascinating journey with Dad's passing on the morning of March 17, 2009, a departure made fittingly on a St. Patrick's Day and as always, on Dad's terms. Predeceased in 1988 by his loving partner in life Mary Patricia, James leaves behind his two loving sons Kevin (Emilia) and Terry (Faye) and the centre of his universe these last fourteen years his grandson Seamus. We wish to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. While too many to mention by name, they all provided the best for him whenever he was in need and in their care. We offer our many thanks to all; from the ICU and Emergency Departments and other departments of the hospital, to the third and fourth floors for their compassion and attention for Dad over these last few years. Thanks as well to Dr. Boss, who provided for Dad in his last hours of his life this weekend past and to Father Chris Lynch who helped prepare Dad for this one last journey. Special thanks to the staff of the Casey clinic, who have always provided Dad with the best of care and affection whenever he would visit. Finally to Dr. Mark Wigmore, our heartfelt thanks for the kindness, compassion and medical attention that you provided for Dad over his many years under your care. He was fortunate to have had you helping his way through these final years of his life. Our appreciation to all those who have offered their support and sympathy at this time, your kindness has been a comfort to us all. By Dad's wish, there will be no service or visitation in Prince Rupert; we will celebrate his life upon his return to Ottawa later this year, where he will rejoin Mom in his final journey with many a tale to tell. DUTIL, Jean-Luc 1931 - 2009 C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de M. Jean-Luc Dutil, décédé paisiblement le 18 mars 2009 à l'âge de 77 ans, à l'unité des soins palliatifs de l'Hôpital Saint-Sacrement à Québec. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Mme Danielle Houde, ses enfants Jean Tommy (Ghyslaine Labonté), Richard, François (Paula Peck) et Carolyne, ses petits-enfants Jézabel et Félix Morin Dutil, ainsi que leur mère Mme Lise Morin, et Youan et Valérie Dutil Savard, ses frères et soeurs Claire (René Beauvillier), Léo (Nicole Fréchette), France (Roland Campagna) et Michel (Luce Phaneuf), ses tantes de la famille Pépin, ainsi que ses nombreux cousins des familles Dutil, Toulouse et Pépin. Il est allé rejoindre son fils Paul, décédé en 1996. Après avoir pratiqué le droit à Thetford Mines, il est devenu procureur-chef de la Commission Cliche, président de la Commission d'enquête sur le crime organisé (CECO) et juge à la Cour du Québec. C'est à ce titre qu'il s'est impliqué auprès des communautés autochtones du Nord-du-Québec, s'efforçant d'y promouvoir la justice réparatrice. Il a également été juge territorial du Yukon. Il était depuis quelques années adjudicateur pour la résolution des questions des pensionnats indiens du Canada. Nous tenons à remercier les médecins et le personnel de l'Hôpital Saint-Sacrement pour le dévouement et la compassion dont ils ont fait preuve à son égard. MITCHELL, John Burke - 1921-2009 - With immense sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather on Thursday March 12, 2009. Loving husband of 62 years, to the late Dinnie (2006). Devoted and deeply loved father to Jeffrey Charles and wife Rose Ann, Martha (1989), and Judy (1991). Cherished grandpa to Martina, Sarah, John Joseph, Holly (Trevor) Newsome, Joe (Odessa) Lyons-Rising, Mitchell Rising; and great grandfather to Hannah and Alexia. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and friends. Born in Hamilton, Ontario on November 13, 1921. He graduated class of '43 from University of Toronto - Engineering (Metallurgist), and did post graduate studies at Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh. He served his country in WWII in the Canadian Armed Forces, achieving the rank of Captain. Dad was an active member of many organizations in the town of Ingersoll where he served as President of the Alexandria Hospital Board of Directors, and a warden of St. James Anglican Church. John enjoyed golf, curling, and summers in Muskoka. He will always be remembered for his love and patience in helping his grandchildren learn to swim, water ski, do homework, or give a history lesson. Special thanks to the friends at the VON day program, where John attended daily, for the past seven years; and his caregivers for their kindness and patience. JOUBERT, Dr Jacques - C'est entouré d'amour que Jacques s'est éteint le mercredi 11 mars 2009, à l'âge de 83 ans. Fils du Dr Louis de Gonzague Joubert et de Régina Trudeau, il a été chirurgien à l'hôpital de Buckingham pendant près de quarante ans. Il a joué un rôle important dans la création de la Bibliothèque centrale de prêt de l'Outaouais et a fait partie du c.a. de l'Association mondiale des médecins francophones. Jacques laisse dans le deuil ses cinq enfants: Patrice (Cécilia Cormier), Natacha, Renaud, Grégoire et Isabelle (Gilles Forget) ainsi que la mère de ses enfants, Suzanne Joubert née Létourneau; quatre petits-enfants: Gabrielle, Frédérique, Éloïse et Guillaume et ses frères et soeurs: Jean et André (Pauline Forest), Marthe et Madeleine. WOHLER, John Patrick - Pat returned to God, exactly as he wished, peacefully at home, in the loving arms of his wife, Judy on Saturday, March 14, 2009, after more than 44 years of the most beautiful marriage. He embraced the end of this life with us as he had always lived-with faith, dignity and grace we can only hope ourselves. Born in Montreal, July 24, 1939, son of the late John and Hilda (Hannan) Wohler, he met his bride one fateful evening when a table was moved and so was he; together they lived in Yellowknife, St. John's, Fredericton and Nepean, before settling outside Carp, near Almonte, raising their loving family all the way. From the Museum of Man to Signal Hill to Algonquin College he was always a man who did what was right, not what was easy or fashionable. He was a scholar, curator, woodworker, author, beekeeper, genealogist, columnist, ("The Family Historian"), farmer, historian, volunteer, philosopher, and so much more..yet always, a teacher. As his physical abilities changed to the end, so did his pursuits to match; baking sprang into his day and his recipes are already treasured by his family, his spice cake is swiftly approaching legend. But to him, his most important roles were husband and father, followed so closely by brother and son. Pat was a man you couldn't measure easily; he was full of contradictions of the best kind, the kind that make you think about yourself, what you believe and what you should believe. Though he is remembered for his intelligence, compassion, faith, integrity, wit and profound wisdom, it is love for which he will always be known. His legacy is foremost, not in the works he created, but in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He has been, and remains, a beacon for that which guided his life, Love. Survived by his wife Judy (Cronin); daughters Peggy, and Laurie (Michael) McLoughlin; son Michael (Tammy); grandsons Stephen, Max, John and Ryan; brother Henry (Betty); sisters-in-law Joan, Lynda, Victoria and several nieces and nephews. COURSOL, Didace, William (1916-2009) - La famille Coursol a le regret d'annoncer son décès, survenu à sa résidence, le jeudi 19 mars 2009, dans sa 93ième année. Époux de feu Thérèse Coursol (née Rivet), prédécédée en 1995. Né à Mont Laurier, Québec, le 13 novembre 1916, il était le fils de feu Euclide et de feu Lodia Coursol (née Marier). Prédécédé par ses beaux parents Napoléon et Mary Rivet. Lui survivent ses enfants Jean Pierre, Monique Savignac (Claude), Claire Legault (Gilles), Gaston (Carole) et Denise (ami Gilles Langevin). Grand-père de Yves Savignac (fiancée Julie Lauzon), Anne Proulx (Ryan), Martin et Sylvain Coursol. Frère de Lucien (Marie- Ange), Octave et feu Joseph (Thérèse), Blanche Dignard, Annette St. Jean, feu Juliette Jodouin et feu Antoinette Violette. William était à sa retraite, ayant travaillé comme concierge pour la commission scolaire. Il a siégé pendant plusieurs années au conseil paroissial à la paroissse La Résurrection. En 1994, il fut nommé bénévole de l'année dans le canton Springer. Membre du Conseil des Chevaliers de Colomb, conseil 2566, Sturgeon Falls, monsieur Coursol aimait cueillir des bleuets et des atocas, faire un grand jardin et partager ses fruits et légumes avec ses enfants. Sa plus grande joie était d'être entouré de ses enfants et de ses petits-enfants. La famille Coursol recevra parents et amis au SALON FUNÉRAIRE THÉORET BOURGEOIS, Sturgeon Falls, le dimanche 22 mars de 14h-16h et de 19h-21h. Les funérailles auront lieu le lundi 23 mars à 10h à l'église La Résurrection. CUNDALL, John Edward December 29, 1948 - March 19, 2009 Loving husband and best friend for over thirty-four years of Wendy (nee Grant) and doting father to Amanda, John passed away after a brief battle with cancer. John was born in Porcupine Plain, SK. Being a good prairie boy, John chose a career at sea. After graduating from the Coast Guard College in Sydney, NS he worked aboard many ships including the weather ship off the coast of BC where he met Wendy in 1975 and, as they say, the rest is history! After moving to Alberta in 1977, John then worked for CANMAR for over twenty years prior to working for TransAlta. According to his co-workers at TransAlta, where he worked as the H&S Specialist, "nothing got past John when he was doing an inspection!" He was like that in his personal life as well. No one beat John at Trivial Pursuit! John loved to entertain and was known to all his friends as the resident sommelier and had been a member of the Opimian Society for many years. Besides his loving wife Wendy and daughter Amanda, John is also survived by his mother Penny (Brandon, MB) as well as his aunt, cousins, many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his sister Paula and his father Jack. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him. At his request there will be no formal Funeral Service.
