STOJANOVIC, Veliko “Vic” - Peacefully passed away at the age of 84 years, Monday, March 2, 2009 at the SRH (Laurentian Site) with friend Darlene at his side. Son of the late Pero and of the late Milica (nee Krunic) Stojanovic. Husband of the late Dorothy Stojanovic (nee Caddel), predeceased January 13, 1997. Loving stepfather of Lucien Richer (friend Mona). Predeceased by his stepson Harvey (wife Darlene) and his brother Milos (wife Maria of Hobart Indiana, U.S.A.) Will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews as well as many friends. At Mr. Stojanovic's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial of cremains will take place in the Massey Cemetery at a later date. 11431217

MARCHAND, Sister Leona (Sister St. Leo) - It is with great sadness that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the death of Sister Leona Marchand on March 2, 2009, at North Bay, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents, Clara Furham and Hector Marchand, and her siblings Paul, Roland, and Corinne, Sister Leona is survived by her nieces and nephews. Born in White River, Ontario, on October 9, 1916, Sister Leona entered The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in June 1942 and ministered as an operating room nurse and supervisor in Port Arthur, Blind River, North Bay, Sudbury and Elliot Lake. In 1965, Sister Leona assumed the role of first Director of the R.N.A. program in Elliot Lake and retired from that position in 1985. Sister Leona's love and care for her nursing students and her dedication to instilling the values of professionalism created an enduring legacy. Sister Leona will be remembered and celebrated as a woman of deep faith, joy, and dedication to her congregation, to civic communities, hospitals, and parishes, wherever she served. Sister's qualities of love, compassion, and humour were gifts to her family, her Sisters, co-workers, students and many friends. Leona's love for life and people echoed her deep relationship with her God. The body of Sister Leona will be received at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 5 in the Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay, Ontario. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, March 6, in Sacred Heart Chapel, ST. JOSEPH'S MOTHERHOUSE. McMILLEN, Dean Gordon - Suddenly passed away at London Health Sciences Centre in London Ont. on March 2nd 2009, in his 38th year. Dean is survived by his parents Donna and Tom McMillen of Mississauga, and his sister Sheri and her husband Paul of Melbourne Australia. He leaves his two loving nieces Caitlin and Hannah. He will be fondly remembered by his aunt Mary and uncle Marty Kings of Kitchener, and cousins Sean and Christine, P.J and Suzanne, Ryan and Michelle, and Maya Kings. He will also be sadly missed by his grandmother Ethel Harris of Richmond Hill. Dean was predeceased by his grandparents Mabel and Gordon McMillen of Brantford. Dean was born in Brantford Ont. was educated at Mentor College in Mississauga and then graduated from Fanshawe College in London. His love of cars and mechanics led him to McMaster Motors in London where he had worked for many years. BLANCHFIELD, James “Leo” - Passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Monday March 2, 2009 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 55 years to Margaret (Lambert) Blanchfield. Dearly loved father of Lynn (John) Black of St. Catharines and Brian Blanchfield of Niagara Falls. Cherished grandfather of Trevor, Justin, Alicia and Robbie. Dear brother-in- law of Steve Lambert. Predeceased by his parents Edmund and Gertrude, two brothers and one sister. Mr. Blanchfield retired from the Ford Glass Plant after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the German-Canadian Club and the Optimist Club and will be sadly missed by his many friends. NARDUZZI, Elsa - In loving memory of Elsa Narduzzi, 92 years of age who passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 at the Extendicare-York, Sudbury. A longtime and well respected Copper Cliff resident Elsa had worked at the family business Narduzzi's Grocery Store for many years and then at the A&P Grocery Store on Pine St. A founding member in 1934 and the first Financial Secretary of the Italian Ladies Society of Copper Cliff. A devout Roman Catholic she had attended St. Stanislaus Church where she had been an active member of the Parish CWL. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards and she was a gracious host welcoming family and friends on Sunday's at the Camp on McFarlane Lake perhaps for a good match of bocce and always for a wonderful B.B.Q. Elsa was devoted to her loving family. Beloved daughter of Giuseppe and Luigia (Bin) Narduzzi predeceased. Loving sister of Archie Narduzzi, Fedora Favot (Angelo) and Elba Negusanti (Toredo) all predeceased. Cherished aunt of Gary Favot, (Jane), Mario Negusanti (Colenda), John Negusanti (Patti-Anne) and Lynn Colville. SMITH, Margaret Joy (nee Horie) Margaret passed away on Saturday evening, February 28 at the age of one hundred and two. She was the wife of the late Jack W.A. Smith. She was born on February 2, 1907 in the Village of Port Daniel on the Gaspe peninsula. Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Margaret Joan (William Carnaghan). She is survived by her sons Graeme (Betty) of Prince William, New Brunswick; Lloyd (Christine) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. An avid reader and writer, a Teacher-Librarian, a staunch Quebecer, a loyal Canadian - a lady who loved her family - independent in nature - one who could be counted upon for a thoughtful expression of opinion, an ardent traveller, a lover of animals and nature - fondly remembered for her deep interest in the lives, history and geneaology of her family and friends - and excellent memory! The family extends its love and sincere thanks to Margaret's close friends and relatives who kept in touch with her particularly during the past few years. "You were true lifelines" - and our gratitude to the Staff of Residence Le Monaco, and the "Comfort Keepers". OBITUARY PATRICIA BRACKEN Patricia Luck Bracken passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, March 2, 2009, after a courageous 3-year fight against cancer, surrounded by her family in her home. She leaves behind her children, Stephanie, James, Tim, Ryan and Erin (Mark), and is survived by her husband, Tim Bracken, her brother, James Luck (Pamela), and her father, George Luck (Suzy). GIRLETZ, Hazel Marie Hazel Marie Girletz passed away February 28, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Hazel was born August 28, 1931 at High River, Alberta. She was the fourth oldest in a family of seven. Hazel attended school at Father Lacombe and then married Harold Girletz. They farmed at Balzac and raised their four children. Over the years, Hazel enjoyed making ceramics, porcelain dolls and antique collecting. In 1981, Hazel moved to Olds. She loved to travel with highlights being Rome, Japan and England. In later years, Hazel's eyesight deteriorated and she enjoyed visiting with friends on the telephone. She was always up to date on local and national news. Hazel was a great friend to many. She will be sadly missed by her children Madonna Girletz, Keith (Joan) Girletz, Caren (Ken) Sackett, Allen (Shelley) Girletz; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and her only surviving sibling Patrova Payne of Smithers, B.C. LOUIE, Wing Art June 24, 1932 - March 1, 2009 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wing Art Louie, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Art is survived by his wife Yee Har (Linda) (nee Lee) of forty-six years; as well as his daughter, three sons and their families - Ginny Mah (nee Louie), her husband Edmond, their children Cory and Caitlyn; Robert Louie, his wife Cheryl, their children Abby, Mitchell and Mya; Alex Louie, his wife Karen, their children Matthew and Stephanie and youngest son Gary Louie. Art was born June 24, 1932 in Toisan, China. Art came to Canada as a young lad in 1952 and moved to Calgary to work as a cook. He worked in many places in B.C. and Alberta throughout the years. It was his plentiful years at Canadian Cafe and China City Restaurant where he met his many friends and loyal customers. Art started at China City Restaurant in 1972 and worked there for over thirty-five years before retiring in early 2008. The most commonly asked question at the restaurant was "Is Art cooking?" Art was also a prominent member of the Sue Yuen Association. MOAR, (nee JOHNSTON) Brenda Theresa Brenda Theresa Moar, beloved wife of Garry and mother of three, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 27, 2009. Brenda was born June 5, 1962 in Pine Falls, Manitoba. She fought cancer for many years with admirable strength and courage. She was loved by many friends and family and touched the lives of all that knew her, by her kind, caring and generous nature. Brenda was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Alma Johnston nee Morrisseau, sister Deborah, and brother-in-law Jim Osmond. She is survived by her brothers Bruce (Kathy), Ron (Marg), Allan (Patti), Barry (Rosemarie), Darryl (Rosie), and sister Kathy. Brenda also leaves behind her three children Sheena, Brian, Danny, and the light of her life, her grandson Elijah, as well as, many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all. As a young girl she enjoyed playing sports and was on Calgary's first all girls hockey team. PETERSON, Irene "Renee" Louvain With her loving family at her side, Irene "Renee" Peterson passed away on March 3, 2009 at the age of 94. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (James) Hall; granddaughter, Andrea; grandson, Ryan (Jacqui) and the newest love of her life, great-grandson Logan. Renee was born in Wales and moved with her family to Calgary in 1924. She lived in the Ramsay district until she married Robert Peterson in 1952. They spent many years working in Calgary and farming at Milo. Drawing and knitting for her family were her special talents. Irene has been residing at Millrise Place for the past three years. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and two brothers Les and Eric Hutt. The family would like to thank the staff on Unit 94 at the Rockyview Hospital for their kindness as well as the numerous caregivers that have helped her over many years. Grace Aileen LYNCH August 21, 1922 - March 1, 2009 LYNCH Grace Amelia Lynch, age 86, of Newport Corner, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where she has resided for the past three years. Born on August 21, 1922 in Brooklyn, Hants County, and was a daughter of the late Albert and Martha (Fisher) Smith. Grace grew up in Summerville and after meeting the man who would become her husband she then married Borden and moved to Newport Corner. Grace was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Newport Corner Ladies Aid and The Newport Jolly Seniors. Grace worked in Halifax; then she worked at the cannery in the Annapolis Valley; she also worked as a custodian at the Three Mile Plains School; then Kitchen Design & Planning, Windsor. She enjoyed gardening with her husband, Borden. One of her great loves was her pugs. Grace was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughters, Sharon (David) Sanford, Scotch Village; and Valerie Lynch, Newport Corner; grandsons, Oscar Sanford, Newport Corner; Peter (Miranda) Sanford and their daughter, Samantha, Spring Hill; She was predeceased by her husband, Borden; brothers, Leigh Smith; infant brother, Earle; sisters, Elizabeth Wilkens; Margaret Dedrick; infant sister, Florence. Mrs. Shirley Ann Capp May 22, 1942 - March 1, 2009 Shirley passed away peacefully at Regina General Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was predeceased by her parents John and Doris; brother Herb; and brother-in-law Tom. Shirley is survived by her husband Dr. Robert; son Greg and his children Victoria and Eric, and their mother Nicole; daughter Erin (Rene Putzlocher) and her daughter McKinley Willson, and McKinley’s father Curtis; brother Ron (Fran) Spencer of Carnduff, SK and their family; and brother-in-law Jim (Marie) Capp of Edmonton, AB; as well as a large extended family. Shirley was born and raised in Carnduff; earned her R.N. at Winnipeg General Hospital in 1963 and her diploma in Public Nursing from the University of Manitoba in 1965. Her real lifework, however was as a wife and mother and she was the best. In younger years Shirley was very involved in sports, especially curling. As her respiratory disease progressed, she turned to music, singing with the Regina Philharmonic Chorus for 15 years and to watercolour painting with the Sunrise Art Group and the Regina Federated Artists. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Carol Geddes and Dr. R. Abdulla for their years of care and to the staff of 6F at Regina General hospital for their excellent care during Shirley’s final weeks. We would also like to thank all our family and friends for their caring support. (Shields) Armstrong of Saint John West occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Armstrong was a life long parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. He served in WW II with the RCAF as a tail gunner on the Lancaster Bomber, and was a member of the RCL Branch #69. He is survived by three sons; Blake Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, and Philip (Tracy Lewis) Armstrong, all of Saint John, five daughters; Lynda (Don) McFedridge of Saint John, Joanne Shaw of Saint John, Monica (Sheldon) Gould of Toronto, Lois (Tim) Brace of Vancouver, Washington, and Carol Armstrong, affectionately known as "Bubby" to his grandchildren Matthew and Sarah Cleghorn, Alexandra Gould, Sean, Jared, and Cole Brace, Bootsie Armstrong, Monica and Grace Peterson, Lara, Niki, and Jake Shaw, and great-grandchildren Christian and Adam.
