Jean-Yves Gagnon, époux de feu Mme Raymonde Gauthier, demeurant rue Angers, Jonquière. La famille accueillera les parents et amis à la Résidence funéraire du Saguenay 3711 rue Cabot, Jonquière (secteur Kénogami) le mercredi 25 février 2009 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 22 h, le jeudi 26 février 2009 à compter de 9 h. Les funérailles auront lieu le jeudi 26 février 2009 à 11 h à l'église St-Matthieu. Monsieur Gagnon sera incinéré après les funérailles et les cendres seront déposées au columbarium St-Dominique. Il était le fils de feu Mme Régina Desrosiers et de feu M. Pamphile Gagnon. DUNLAP, Muriel May (nee Lee) May 9, 1917 - February 21, 2009 Muriel was gently called Home on February 21, 2009 ending her life's journey in her 92nd year. She was a dearly loved and cherished mother, grandma and great-grandma who will be remembered for her kindness to others, her sense of humour, her love of language and literature, her sewing and knitting skills, but mostly for the nurturing love and guidance she gave to her family. She is survived by her daughter Jane (Tom) Lucin of Calgary, her son Tom Dunlap of Montreal; grandchildren Tanja (Peter O'Leary) Lucin, Dana Lucin, Lauren (Ira Clay) Dunlap, Kristin Dunlap; along with great-grandchildren Jean-Olivier and Sarah O'Leary, Christopher-James, Jordan and Marya Dunlap, as well as many nieces and nephews. Muriel was born in Canora, SK, on May 9, 1917 and in 1919 the family moved to Stettler, AB. In 1942 she married Stuart Dunlap. Muriel and Stuart raised their family in Stettler and were very active in the community until 1963 when they sold the family pharmacy business. They continued their life journey living in Calgary, Banff, Victoria and Penticton, finally settling in Calgary in 1987 to be closer to family. Muriel was predeceased by her husband Stuart in 2001, mother Eva in 1951, and father Thomas in 1954. She was also predeceased by sister, Georgina in 1919, sister Norma in 1935, sister Gladys and brother Robert in 2006, and sister Eva in 2008. The family extends a very special thank you to Betty Norman, the staff on Unit 400, and all others at the Beverly Centre Glenmore for their excellent care and compassion during the years Mom was in their care. REID, Malcolm “Ace“ - Passed away peacefully in Millbrook on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the age of 87. Malcolm never recovered from the loss of the love of his life and his guiding star when his wife and best friend of 67 years, Charlotte “Libby“ passed away on January 15, 2008. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters Bonnie (Frank) O'Grady, Janice (Mike) Miller and daughter-in-law Marlene Reid. Predeceased by his beloved son, Joel. Survived by 8 wonderful grandchildren, Patrick O'Grady (Lan Anh) of Hanoi, Vietnam, Ryan O'Grady, Monica Reid, Michelle Reid, Aaron Reid, Chad Reid, Adam Miller and Stephanie Miller, all of Peterborough. There was nothing he enjoyed more than teaching his grandchildren how to catch a curve ball, or bait the hook for fishing off his dock on the Otonabee River. He took great enjoyment in being with his 3 beautiful great- grandchildren, Sara Jade Reid, Zaine and Hunter O'Grady. Malcolm is also survived by a younger sister, Ruth Pascoe, of Belleville. Malcolm was born in Stirling, Ontario, the son of Acille Reid and Estella Stratton. He was an incredible athlete and enjoyed countless years playing hockey and softball, earning him his nickname “Ace“. Malcolm served in the Canadian Navy during World War II on the west coast of Canada and in the North Atlantic, returning to settle in Peterborough with Charlotte and their infant son Joel. He worked as Plant Manager at Sealright (Purity Packaging) until his retirement. In his later years he played golf and enjoyed 22 retirement years with Libby at their winter home in Palm Harbor, Florida. He will be remembered by all for his sense of fairness and his athleticism, although he never got over the fact that Libby had a “hole-in-one“ and on occasion beat him at golf. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Centennial Place, Heritage Wing, Millbrook, who gave so much respect and affection to Malcolm. You are truly angels among us and made everything so much better for him and the rest of “Ace's“ family. A Celebration of Malcolm's life will be held on Thursday, February 26 at HIGHLAND PARK VISITATION/RECEPTION CENTRE (2510 Bensfort Rd, at River Rd. BAGBY, Jon Christopher Bonita Springs, Florida Jon Christopher Bagby, beloved son of Phyllis and Bob Bagby, died on February 18, 2009 in Ft. Myers, FL peacefully and quietly just as he lived his life. He was born on October 2, 1948 in Denver, CO and was raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Jon is survived by his parents Phyllis and Bob Bagby. He lived in Ft. Myers, FL for the past eighteen years with his family, Trish Bagby, John Crouse and nephews Michael and Christopher. Jon is also survived by sister Theresa (Mike) Madill, and three brothers Mike (Robyn) Bagby, Tim (Barb) Bagby and Tom (Gina) Bagby, eleven nieces and nephews, thirteen great-nieces and nephews, three aunts and uncles and many cousins. Jon was a United States Marine Vietnam War Veteran who served his country proudly in active duty from May 1967 to May 1970 and was also in the reserves from May 1970 to May 1973. Jon was an unassuming, kind and courageous man who cared deeply for his family, friends and country. Jon's many interests included traveling, history, art, architecture, politics, religion, nature, sports and designer clothing. His passion was the U.S. Marine Corps history, conventions and activities. Jon's passing is a great loss to his family and many friends who will cherish his memories and sorely miss this kind and quiet man. A military Memorial Service celebrating Jon's life will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241). LAVOIE, Emile Leo 2009-02-24 Mr. Emile Leo Lavoie, age 96 years, a resident of 63 Carrie Street died on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Bethammi Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, moved to Thunder Bay as a child and has been a life long resident. He worked for the CNR and Thunder Bay Elevators prior to his retirement in 1977. Emile married his beloved wife Amy in 1938, and celebrated 58 years of marriage. An outdoorsman, he loved gardening, sports, travel, winters in Florida and people. An original tenant at the PR Cook apartments, he was always available to assist a fellow neighbour. Emile was a member of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church and he took up the collection during Mass at the Heritage until he was well into his 90‘s. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and served on their degree team. Survived by daughter Colette Killebrew and her husband John of Maryville, Tennessee; son Ken and his wife Iris of Thunder Bay; grandson Brent Killebrew his wife Jessica and great grandson Johnathan of Maryville Tennessee; brother Ray Lavoie of California; nephew and caregiver Don Geikie of Thunder Bay; friend and caregiver Lois Bentz; nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Predeceased by his wife Amy; his parents; granddaughter Colleen Killebrew; sister Alice; brothers Lou, Arthur, Armand, and Marcial. Funeral services for the late Mr. Emile Lavoie will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 with family and friends gathering at Corpus Christi R.C. Born September 24, 1953 in Kenora, Ontario she was the daughter of the late Napoleon and Madeline. Cecilia’s life revolved around her home and her 4 children and her grandchildren. Keeping alive her native traditions was very important to Cecilia. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Allen, her 4 children; Stacy (Colin), Murphy, Allen Jr., and Tanis, her numerous grandchildren, 3 brothers Stewart, Kenny and Mark, 3 sisters Geraldine, Noreen and Charlene as well as other relatives. During the war, she worked in Canada Car where she met Joseph Soltys ( deceased) with whom she raised their family. Daughters, Marlene Snook, Sharon Oger and sons Gerald and Allan Soltys provided her with grandchildren Daniel, Jeff, Donna, Andrea, Kathryn, Neal, Terri-Lynn, Ryan and Cory. WINHOLD, Joan L. (Rumball) - passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2009 at her home in Troy NY after a battle with leukemia. Born in Orillia, Ontario, Canada, Joan was the daughter of the late Roy R. and Gertrude (Patterson) Rumball. She received her early education in Orillia, Ontario, later graduating from the University of Toronto with a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages (1951). In addition, she was granted a Piano Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Joan married her beloved husband, E. John Winhold, in 1951, a marriage that lasted for over 57 years. John and Joan moved to the USA after graduation, living first in Cambridge, MA, then Philadelphia, PA, finally moving to Troy, NY in 1957. Joan was a loving wife, a homemaker and a devoted mom and grandmother. She had a warm and caring personality and was always interested in other people. While her family will miss her terribly, they know she is with the Lord. For 13 years, Joan was the Director of Literacy Volunteers in Troy, retiring in 1991. After retiring, she continued to volunteer for many years teaching workshops and tutoring. She was a member of Vineyard Community Church of Cohoes. Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving daughters Alison (John) Saxelby of Lowell, MA; Claire Winhold of Framingham, MA; Beth (Shawn) Muthersbaugh of Troy; a brother, Lionel Rumball of Orillia, Ontario, and her grandchildren Heather and Meredith Saxelby and Megan, John and Michael Muthersbough. PARKER, William H. "Bill" With regret and sadness we announce the death of Bill on February 20, 2009 in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of ninety-four years. He was the beloved husband of Merle (McLachlan) for sixty-nine years; and the devoted father and father-in-law of Stewart and Martha Parker, Donnie Parker and David Anderson and the late Lutz Streitel. He was a generous and loving grandfather to Karly Black (Brendan), Alison Parker and Geoff Streitel (Leith Anderson) and great-grandfather to Emilee, Helen and Georgia. Bill is also survived by his youngest brother Jack (Corinne) and special nephew Hartley Mitchell. He was predeceased by his brother Gordon (Tress). A lifelong resident of Montreal and Baie d'Urfe, Quebec, Bill and Merle moved to Regina in June 2008 to be closer to their family. Bill had a gentle nature and an endless capacity to assist and love others. He found joy in his Baie d'Urfe home where he built and fixed everything for sixty-three years; enjoyed the challenges of a long career in the Quebec construction industry; and relished every moment spent on his downhill skis in the Laurentian Mountains. The family thanks the many wonderful Saskatchewanians who have welcomed Bill and Merle into their lives and their care in recent months. WATCHORN, Eunice (nee MacGillivray) Peacefully on February 23rd, 2009 at The Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus, in her 80th year. A daughter of Glengarry County, Mom, as she was fondly known, began life's journey on October 7th, 1929, the third child of Donald Rory and Mary Olive (nee Urquhart) MacGillivray. Humble, unassuming, and imbued with the work ethic expected by those who built this nation, Mom graduated from the Civic Hospital School of Nursing in the spring of 1953. Thus began a life of service to those who found themselves in a hospital bed, a nursing home bed, and family members who Mom thought were in need of a healing touch. In May 1958, the journey of marriage and, soon after, that of motherhood began. Through the years, Mom nurtured a family, including two sons through a myriad of life experiences, and as the number of grandchildren grew, proudly assumed the role of matriarch. Today, as we commend Mom to our Lord's loving care, we the beneficiaries of her boundless love and tireless devotion, reflect with equally boundless love. Continuing life's journey are her husband of 51 years, Garth; sons Michael and Kevin; daughters-in-law, Soultana and Monica; and five grandchildren -- Shelby, Kendra, Adam, Lara, and Lucas. We will come together with family and friends to celebrate her life in the near future. To those who staff the Neuroscience, Palliative, and Spiritual Care units at the Civic, our heartfelt appreciation and admiration. Mildred is survived by a loving family; her two sons, Bill (Rowena) of Calgary and Don (Patricia) of Edmonton; her grandsons, Ethan, Jarrod, Logan, and Rowan; two sisters, Mary Sheehy and Helen Sheremeta of Montreal. FIELD, Alfred (Alf) November 3, 1931 - February 20, 2009 Alf Field, beloved husband of Jean Field of Calgary, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Alf was born on November 3, 1931, on a small farm near Kandahar, SK. He was the youngest of four children. Alfred became a contractor and left his mark on the countryside of Saskatchewan and Alberta. Besides his loving wife of forty-seven years, Alf is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn and Ken Jonsson, Aileen Field, and Lenore and Ross Casswell; seven grandchildren, Jace, Nikala, Zachary Jonsson, Joshua, Bethany, Marc, and Shaela Casswell. He is also survived by a brother Dick Field; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce Courchaine and Gladys Reiss. BURKHOLDER, Harold Warren - Born on September 18, 1923 in Belleville, Ontario, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in Parksville, B.C. February 2, 2009. Dad was a man of honor, integrity and humor, who led a life well lived. He left school at the age of 16 to enlist in the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment (Hasty-P's) and was part of Operation Husky that saw action in Sicily and mainland Italy during WWII. After returning from overseas, he finished his schooling and became a member of the RCMP stationed in Fort Smith and Spence Bay NWT, before serving as a Dog Master in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Manitoba and British Columbia until his retirement from the force in 1967. He was part of a contingent of retired RCMP officers who helped train members of the Tanzanian Police Force in Africa in the early 1970's. Dad went on to become a Provincial Court Magistrate working in Russell and Killarney, Manitoba until his full retirement in 1984. During his retirement he transcribed the Hasty-P's Regimental Diary into a 630 page book that he presented to the Hastings and Prince Edward's Regimental Headquarters in Belleville, Ontario. Dad was a man of simple pleasures. He was content spending his days working in the garden, reading a good book, doing a crossword puzzle, playing cards, fishing, his annual drive through Ontario to see the fall leaves in full color, and keeping in touch with friends from coast to coast. His sense of humor was always present especially in letters and poetic verse written to family and friends. To his children, he instilled a strong work ethic, a love of the outdoors, the importance of helping out someone in need, the importance of family, the love of good books and the love of the music Ella, Frank and Oscar. Above all else, his family was Dad's biggest pride and joy. He was happiest when we were all together playing cards, talking, sharing a meal and laughing. Harold was predeceased by his parents (Gordon and Maude) his brother Merv and his wife of 47 years Marg. He will forever remain in the hearts of his wife June, his children Kris (Murray), Gordon (Jan) Joe (Kim) and Laura (Harry), his sisters Olie (Bob) and Doreen and his brother Ted (Bev), his sister-in-law Millie, his Grandchildren Sean (Ingrid) Michael, Casey, Jill, Kelly and Brady, his nieces and nephews, his great-granddaughter Melena and his many good friends. 11410312
