Paul-Emile ’Paul’ St-Pierre - C’est avec une immense tristesse que la famille désire annoncer le décès subit de Paul-Emile St-Pierre, à l’âge de 52 ans, qui a eu lieu à son domicile de Petit-Paquetville, le vendredi 3 octobre 2008. Il était fils de feu Rosaire St-Pierre et de Joséphine Landry (Julien Haché, époux en secondes noces) de Petit-Paquetville. Outre sa mère et son époux, il laisse dans le deuil deux enfants qu’il adorait: Mélanie (Patrice Bourque) et Paul Jr., tous deux de Montréal; son amie de coeur, Alida Comeau de Caraquet et sa fille Mélanie; trois frères: Raymond (Mona Sisk), Roland (Gisèle Robichaud) et Bernard (Nathalie Godin), tous de Petit-Paquetville; trois soeurs: Mérilda (Maurice Richardson) et Raymonde (Aldoria Losier), toutes deux de Petit-Paquetville et Georgette (René Losier) de Sainte-Rose; ses neveux et nièces qu’il affectionnait beaucoup: Serge (Julie), Rémi, Guylaine (Mathieu), Sébastien, Steve, Jonathan, Vanessa, Josée et Amélie; la mère de ses enfants, son ex-épouse, Louise Turcotte de Montréal, ainsi que plusieurs oncles, tantes, cousins et cousines. ZIPRICK, Frieda - 91 years old, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and beloved husband Adolph on Wednesday October 1, 2008 at Fiddicks Nursing Home in Petrolia, Ontario. Born in R.M. Boulton, Mn., near Inglis, Mn. on January 24, 1917 to parents Rudolph and Mary Schmitke. Frieda wed Adolphe on June 24, 1937 in Inglis and had two daughters, Shirley and Linda. Later in life they moved to Wallaceburg, Ontario and then on to Pt. Edward. Finally, when increased care became necessary, they became residents of Fiddicks Nursing Home. She was devoted to her God, Jesus Christ, her husband Adolph of 71 years, 2 daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Adolph (Feb. 28, 2008), her parents, 5 siblings and a son-in-law Arnold Otke. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 429 Indian River Road in Sarnia, Ontario with Rev. Dr. C. Ellis officiating. Viewing will be 1 hour before the service at the church. The family will receive friends and family for fellowship and luncheon immediately following the service. FAHLGREN, Gustaf Douglas - On Friday October 3, 2008 in his 87th year. Dear husband of Shirley Fahlgren (nee Barton). Loving father of Bart (Jennifer Young) of Aurora, Terry Blair (Don) of North Bay, Kathy Thompson (Trevor) of Markham and Chris (Nancy Morelli) of Bradford. Sadly missed by grandchildren Ryan and Sarah Thompson, Trevor Fahlgren and Emily, Alexandra and Ava Fahlgren. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Edith, Ed, Eva, Elvira, Evelyne and Art. Doug was a pilot for over 45 years, starting with the RCAF as a navigator from 1942-1945. In civilian life he flew various assignments across Canada and the United States with the federal government. He was also the chief pilot for Teck Corp. flying magnetometer surveys for mining exploration. Doug was an honourary life member of 406 Wing. CARSCADDEN, Helen Audrey - Helen Carscadden, born in Collingwood Township, a daughter of the late Frederick and Eleanor (née Galloway) Carscadden, passed away in Collingwood on Friday, September 26, 2008, in her 89th year. Helen was well known in the communities of Meaford and The Beaver Valley. She was a generous woman whose compassion certainly extended to the less fortunate both in this community and world wide. She was a dedicated employee of The Bell Telephone Company having served in Thornbury and Owen Sound and she proudly retired from the company after 26 years and 2 weeks of service on January 2, 1975. Helen was an avid historian who had a remarkable memory for dates and events and she loved to both read and travel thus combining her interests. Later in her life, Helen purchased a computer so she might take advantage of the word processing programs which enabled her to keep in contact with family and her several pen pals. Many will know that Helen was also a great fan of both the Blue Jays and the Leafs and she followed their schedules on radio and television. She was a faithful member of Grace United Church in Thornbury and supported not only that church but also many others in the area by purchasing tickets and attending church socials and dinners and fundraisers. Her love and support will be sadly missed by all who had the good fortune to know Helen. Helen was predeceased by her brother, Wallace Carscadden, in May 1985 and was a loved sister-in-law and companion of Phyllis Carscadden of Meaford and a dear aunt of Jim Carscadden and his wife Cathy, and Terry Carscadden and his wife Jan, all of RR 1 Clarksburg. She was a devoted great aunt to Kim and Aaron Carscadden, and Carrie and her husband Larry Russell, John Carscadden and his wife Jen, and Andrew Carscadden and his wife Michelle and she will be sadly missed as a great- great aunt of five. Helen was predeceased by a grand-nephew, Mark Carscadden in September 2000. Helen's family received friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, The Valley Chapel, in Thornbury on Sunday evening, and funeral services, officiated by Reverend Dr. Brian Goodings, were conducted at Grace United Church in Thornbury on Monday, September 29, 2008. Nephew Terry Carscadden delivered remembrances of his aunt on behalf of the family during the service and he and his family, Jan, Carrie, Andrew and John, offered special music in tribute to Helen. A service of committal and interment followed at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery. Larry Russell, John Carscadden, Andrew Carscadden, Bowen Russell, Tim Russell, and John Russell served as pallbearers and Kim Carscadden and Carrie Russell served as flower bearers for their great aunt. Honorary bearers were life long friends and neighbours Bruce and Betty Osborne and Helen's cousin and devoted companion Dorothy Russell. Hon. William L. M. Creaghan May 30, 1922 - October 1, 2008 Decorated World War II Veteran, Lawyer, Member of Parliament and Judge Born on May 30, 1922, son of the late John A. Creaghan and Alice Dobson Marven, the Honourable William Lawrence Marven Creaghan, a decorated veteran of the Second World War, dedicated public servant, husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2008. William Creaghan began his distinguished career when he was called to the New Brunswick bar in 1948. From 1952 to 1958 he was the registrar of probate court for Westmorland County, alderman at large for the City of Moncton from 1952 to 1958, elected to the House of Commons and served as Member of Parliament for Westmorland County from 1958 to 1962. He was appointed Judge of the County Court for Northumberland, Gloucester and Restigouche counties in 1962 and of Queen's, Sunbury and York counties in 1968, then appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick, Trial Division, in 1979, where he served until his retirement in 1997. At the request of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, in recognition of his long years of devoted service, the Governor General of Canada declared Judge Creaghan would retain the title of "honourable" following his retirement. Judge Creaghan was a member of the St. Thomas University Board of Governors from 1958 to 1997. His public service also included serving on numerous judicial inquiries and committees, including most recently, as Chairman of the Child Death Review Committee. He was awarded a Doctor of Laws Degree by St. Thomas University in acknowledgment of his service to the community in 2002. Bill enjoyed curling, golfing and summers at the cottage in Shediac, New Brunswick. His wise counsel was a great help to the many people who sought his advice throughout his long and productive life. Bill Creaghan was predeceased by his sister Marion (the late Donal Friel), and brothers Don (Barbara Foran) and Marven (Davida Cunningham) and is survived by his loving wife Thérèse (LeBlanc) and three children: Lawrence (Andrea Thibault), Andrew and Valerie (Daniel Careau), grandchildren, two sisters, Claire and Carol (Jules Picot) and many nieces and nephews. CARTER, John Stephen John Stephen Carter passed away October 4, 2008 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife Margaret; son Michael; daughter-in-law Leslie Jackson-Carter; grandchildren Kyle and Kiara; brother Jim (Betty); sister Marette (Richard) Duffin; and sister Theresa Parker. John was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Evelyn; brother Henry; brother-in-law Gordon Parker and grandson Melford. John was also fortunate to have many nephews, nieces and long time friends who played a large role in his life. John grew up in Montreal then served in WWII with the Royal Navy based in the Mediterranean Sea. Upon return he graduated with B.Sc. Honors in Geology from McGill. His work as a Geologist took him around the world by plane, boat and elephant. John touched many people through his work and life with his stories and humor. He cared for all those he knew. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Legion Branch No. 264, 1910 Kensington Road N.W., Calgary. KEOGH, Mary (nee Murray) February 6, 1933 - October 2, 2008 Mary Keogh, beloved wife of John Keogh of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the age of 75 years with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Canada with her family in 1972. Besides her loving husband John, Mary is survived by daughter Mary (Peter) de Vlaming; son James Keogh; daughter Linda (Chip) Becker; grandsons, Kevin, Kyle, Adam, Michael, Steven, and Eric; and numerous extended family in Scotland. MERRICK, Douglas 2008-10-06 Mr. Douglas McLean Merrick age 50 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away, on Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Doug is survived by his son Scott and wife Amanda, Saskatoon Saskatchewan; sisters Mary Lee and husband Barry Gessell, Anne and Doug Creighton, Brenda and husband Alan Stein all of Moosomin Saskatchewan. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his mother Jean (nee McLean) and father Beattie. Cremation has taken place and the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Bert Vancook officiating. A memorial service and interment will follow at Moosomin Saskatchewan on Friday, October 10, 2008. If friends desire, memorials to the Neo Natal and Pediatric Units of the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital would be appreciated.
