Kingsley, Charles Ernest June 17, 1928 - June 14, 2008 Kingsley, Charles 'Chuck' 79 years, on June 14, 2008. Late of Tecumseh. Beloved husband of the late Carole (nee McFadden) (2004). Father of Richard and wife Jean. Step-father to Sandra Hart; Randy and Elizabeth Hart; and Larry Hart. Grandfather to ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Jean Johnson; Bob and Rosa Kingsley. Chuck served in the R.C.A.F. in post-war Germany, was a Chrysler retiree and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594. A cremation has taken place with an interment of the cremated remains at Victoria Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. In kindness, a donation to the Heart and Stoke Foundation, 2109 Ottawa Street, Suite 280, Windsor N8Y 1R8 would be appreciated. Hector Guitard The death of Hector Guitard of Jacquet River, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, September 2, 2008 at the age of 96. Born in Mitchell, he was the son of the late Joseph Guitard and Catherine (Joncas). Hector was an engineer and was an employee of CN for approximately 40 years. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Monica) of Jacquet River, Timmy (Odette) of Dundee; daughters, Trudy Doucet (Lloyd) of Jacquet River, Barbara Firth (Bev) of Brampton, ON., Mary Catherine Dolan of Orillia, ON and Lorraine Cormier (Ronnie) of Bathurst. He is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren and 3 Great great grandchildren; as well as sisters, Lillian and Doris. Hector was pre-deceased by his wife, Gertrude (Young); brothers, Clement, Leo, Rex, Freddy, Wendell and sisters, Mary, Julia, Rosie and Margaret. His funeral was held from St. Gabriels Church, Jacquet River, Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 officiated by Father David Ferguson. Pallbearers were, Terry Doucet, Randy Doucet, Bill Dealy, Andrew Goyette, Mitch Guitard and Steve Guitard. BEZEAU, JOSEPH CHARLES "CHARLIE" - It is with great sadness that the family of Charlie Bezeau of Saint John, NB, devoted husband of Sherrie (Maguire) Bezeau, announce his sudden passing on Saturday, September 6, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Petite Riviere, NB, he was a son of the late Onezime and Elizabeth (Baker) Bezeau. He was previously employed with Parkway Ford for 32 years as a Collision Man and recently established his own business, Bezeau Auto Body. Besides his best friend and beloved wife, Sherrie; he is survived by his cherished daughter, Melissa (Andrew) MacPherson of Saint John; six brothers, Howard (Giselle) of Little Shippigan, Francis (Marielle) of Lameque, Leonard (Lucette) of Cap Bateau, Aubin (Line) of Tracadie, Michel (Marion) of ON, John (Judy) of AB; five sisters, Evelyn (Joe) Hachey of Bathurst, Yvette (Jacques) Bouchard of Montreal, QC, Elizabeth (Michel) Ward of Miscou, Doreen (George) Bezeau of Little Shippigan and Betty Ann (Stephen) Landry of BC, many nieces and nephews. FERGUSON (MALCOLM), LEAH passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1st, 2008, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine after a lengthy battle with cardiac disease. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Ada Malcolm. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, Norman, one son Andrew (Charlene), a daughter JoAnne Palmer, and a brother Donald Malcolm. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Jaclyn Palmer and several nieces and nephews. Leah's garden was her pride and joy. On every fine day(and a few foggy ones, too) she could be found in her back yard tending her flowers or pruning her shrubs. She also enjoyed her friendship with "The Girls" from the Voc graduating class of 1954, who meet every month to enjoy food and fellowship .Leah was a devout Christian and a member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church for several years. Her quiet , gentle manner and her smiling face will be missed by the congregation and by all who knew her. A memorial service and reception will be celebrated at the Edith Avenue Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Interment will take place at a private ceremony in the Lorneville Cemetery at a later date. LEMIEUX, Rhoda (nee Byng) - The family announces with sorrow, her death in Sudbury, Monday, September 8th, 2008 at the age of 73 years after a courageous battle with cancer. NICOLL, Violet Daulby - Born May 18, 1921 in Everton, England, died peacefully in her sleep at Eastholme, Powassan on Sept 7, 2008. Violet is survived by her loving husband Robert Nicoll of North Bay and was predeceased by her first husband Thomas Wilkinson and her parents Henry and Jean Daulby. She is survived by her twin sons Les (Linda) of Callander and Clive (Coleen) of Sault Ste Marie and step daughter Margaret White (Peter) of North Bay as well as six grandchildren, Thomas (Kim) of Angus, Michael (Carrie) of North Bay, Jeffrey (Terri) of Garson, Paul (Anna) of Sault Ste Marie, Christine (Ken) of Sault Ste Marie and Robert (Allison) of Oakville. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren Tamara, Kaitlynn, Journey, Emily, Lauren, Carys, Elizabeth and Zachary. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Shirley (John) of Edmonton and Margarite (Alan, deceased) of Kitchener. Violet was brought up by her adoptive parents in Blackpool, England. She worked during the war building wings for Wellington bombers and after the war in her first husband Tom's chemist shop. In her youth she was very active in sports especially swimming, table tennis and cricket. She and her family emigrated to North Bay in 1957. After her first husband's death, she worked at North Bay Civic Hospital in the Admitting Department. In 1972, she married Robert Nicoll and spent the remainder of her long life as a home maker. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Sons of Scotland, The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Canada and was active in the Calvin Presbyterian Church, but her main activity was enjoying her grandchildren, great grandchildren and especially her dogs. She was also an avid supporter of North Bay Centennials and her sons and grandsons soccer teams. She will be fondly remembered by her close friends Jean, Joan, Pam and Helen. Violet's Family will receive friends at the Calvin Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, September 10th from 1:00 PM until time for a Memorial Service in the Sanctuary at 2:00 PM. PINE, Jean Goldie - Saturday September 6, 2008 - Peacefully passing to her spirit journey, Aunt Jean's family and friends surrounded her with love as she moved on. Her 88th birthday was celebrated on September 5th. She was known as Aunt Jean by all who met her and everyone whose life she touched. She was a good friend to all. She was a respected Elder of the Anishnabek Nation. Her father, the late Richard Pine, was a respected statesman. Her mother, the late Ida Wigwas taught Aunt Jean to be fiercely independent. Aunt Jean was predeceased by two husbands, the late Alvin Sebastion and the late Larry Norman. Her brothers and sisters include the late John (Smitty) Pine and Lillian, Beulah Abtossway, Sheila Pine, Helen (Billy) Swenson and Don, the late Lucille Taylor, Jake Pine and Mary, Blanche Pine and Cameron, Richard Pine and Rhonda. She is lovingly remembered by countless nieces and nephews throughout many generations. Aunt Jean's love wisdom and knowledge was shared with the her “kids“ she helped raise including the late Calvin Corbiere, Doug Pine, Bonnie Harrington (Pine), Tanya Bomberry (Pine) and Zack Pine. She was a loving Auntie to innumerable children. While in her 70's she continued to chase 5 year old Brett and the 3 year old twins Greg and Marlys, up and down stairs. Aunt Jean was close friends with many people, including the late Rose Nolan, Ethyl Dellaire, Pat Darnay, Ali Darnay, Angela Neveau, Corella Corbiere, Eunice (McGraw) McMahon, Victoria Syrette, Rosalie Goos, Joanie Hnakuik, the late Nancy Syrette, Alice Corbiere and Marcel Ladouceur. Aunt Jean celebrated life every day. In the last few years she acted as her nephew Joe's conscience and kept him in line. In return, she especially enjoyed his cooking and most of all put up with his corn soup endeavours. Aunt Jean found humour in every situation. Friends may visit at the Garden River Community centre from 1 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday September 9, 2008. Funeral services will take place at 10 am Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Community Centre. In respecting Aunt Jean's wishes she will be cremated and there will not be any grave side services. A World War II Veteran, he is survived by his wife of 61 years Jean (Smail), son Jim (Chris) and daughter Judy Liut (Larry), grandson Jim Jr. (Tiffanee), granddaughter Sarah Liut, and great grandsons Tanner and Ty. Friends will remember him as head custodian at the Sault Technical & Commercial Highschool/Lakeway where he worked for over 30 years. Edith Benson The death of Edith Kathleen (O'Neill) Benson, age 86, of Belleisle Creek, N.B., occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. She was the wife of the late Ralph D. Benson and daughter of the late Fred and Isabella (Ness) O'Neill. Mum was born in Belleisle Creek on April 19, 1922 to Fred and Isabella O'Neill, where she continued to live with her brothers Fred and Rolph and sisters Mary and Gladys, even after the death of brother Fred and her mother. She married Ralph on September 7, 1949 and moved just two miles down the road from where she was born. They raised seven children while working side by side on the family farm. Life wasn't easy, but there was always lots of love and mum was never a complainer. She had a very positive outlook on life, always a ready smile and a hardy laugh. Her family was the joy of her life. She always loved family gatherings and encouraged as many as possible to be there. She was very proud of everyone's accomplishments and was always glad to see children and grandchildren, grown and now moved away from home return for visits. After dad's passing in 1996, she found a new freedom and enjoyed it to the fullest, taking many bus trips, trips to visit Jeannie in Missouri, Fred in Saskatchewan and friends in Manitoba. She was a member of St. Simon and St. Jude's Anglican Church and A.C.W. and Belleisle Seniors. In later years she enjoyed her Thursday bowling league, always trying to improve her score from the previous week. The Saturday night card party was always a "must" gathering with friends from community and beyond. She loved to play games especially Scrabble, you could wake her from a sound sleep and say "Mum how about a game of Scrabble?" and she'd be right to her feet. Mum will be sadly missed by all of the many lives she touched but her memory will live in our hearts forever. Edith is survived by her sons Jerry and Jan Benson of Belleisle Creek and Fred Benson, Regina, Saskatchewan; daughters, Cathy and Brian Thorne of Sussex, Marilyn and Arnold Keith of Avonmore, Carol and Gailand Law of Lower Kars and Jeannie Benson and Ed Downey of Belleisle Creek and Helen and Al Clark of Saint John; fourteen grandchildren, Patrick, Bill, Andy, Sarah, Ellen, Jason, Heather, Amy, Troy, Jeff, Aaron, Brad, Becky and Jonathon; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kalyn, Keira and Brady; brother Rolph and Doris O'Neill of Belleisle Creek; sister Gladys and Leonard Hart of Belleisle Creek; many nieces, nephews and cousins. MCSHEFFERY, Doreen 1941-2008 Doreen McSheffery of Moncton, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Moncton Hospital surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Georgetown, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Scully and Agnes (French) Sullivan. She spent her early years in Georgetown and Charlottetown. She embarked on a teaching career which she cut short to raise her young family and after which she worked for the family business for many years retiring in 2001. She always took her summers off, so she could spend time at her cottage. LARSON, Audrie (Ehlin) 2008-09-09 September 21, 1938 - September 6, 2008 Mrs. Audrie Larson, age 69 years, of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph‘s Hospital, Hospice Unit, on September 6, 2008 with her family at her side. Audrie was born in Scandinavia, Manitoba. Her family moved to the Current River area when she was four years old, and she resided in Thunder Bay ever since. Mom worked as a cashier at Frank‘s Locker Service, and Big Ed‘s until leaving the workforce to raise her family. During this time she also had numerous children she babysat, as well as becoming a second mother to all the neighbourhood kids. Anyone who sat at the kitchen table became family, like Brandon Harris who had his own crib in the corner of the dining room. Audrie was very involved in the organization and running of the Legion Branch 5 Saturday morning Youth Bowling League in the seventies. She also had numerous positions in Guiding, the most notable being Polly Lake Chairperson. Audrie spent many summers, along with her husband Bruce, getting buildings constructed and repaired so that all guiders could enjoy their camping experiences. Mom‘s current interests were playing bingo and meeting and making friends at the Casino. Audrie will be dearly missed by Bruce, her husband of 49 1/2 years; children Tricia (Lonnie Pacholczak), Terry, Bruce Jr., and Tammy (Chris Markevich) as well as six grandchildren, Methieshia, Maggie, Rene, Athena, Jodie and Dylan. Also mourning her passing are special niece and nephew Marlyn Peat, and Gord Rowe and their families, as well as numerous in-laws and other family. She was predeceased by her parents Edvin and Naimi and siblings Vivian (Rowe), Walter, James and Wilfred Ehlin. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, with Rev. Gordon Holroyd of St. Paul‘s Anglican Church presiding. Interment of cremains will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. NEVILLE, Ann Marilyn (nee Biggs) May 15, 1931 - September 6, 2008 At the Ottawa Civic Hospital following brain surgery, Marilyn passed away peacefully at age 77. She is survived by William (Bill) her husband of 49 years, son Ross of Toronto and granddaughter Lindsay. She was predeceased by her son Lindsay Howard. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Margaret Biggs. Marilyn is survived by her sister Nancy (Ian Donaldson) and brothers Murray (Joyce), Ken (Jill), Larry (Judy) and Barclay (Marilyn). She was predeceased by brothers Howard and Bruce. At Marilyn's request a private family Funeral and Cremation will take place at the Pinecrest Cemetery. BAKER, Kelly Michael 1962 - 2008 Kelly Michael Baker passed away peacefully September 4, 2008 after a lengthy illness at the age of 46 years. He will be dearly missed by his mother Adele Robertson (John) of Sydney, Australia; father Garry Baker of Toronto, ON; aunts Lorna Brain of Oshawa, ON and Ardyth McInnis of Olds, AB; uncle Brian Hearst of Calgary; and his best friend Danny Ewacha who was by his side throughout his illness, comforting and supporting him. He was predeceased by his grandparents Martha and Michael Hearst and Audrey and Johnny Baker. Kelly was a man of many talents, but he was considered a master at tailoring. He enjoyed being a colour specialist hairdresser and had the opportunity to work on many films in both Toronto and New York. LAWRENCE, Allan Frederick - The Honourable Allan Frederick Lawrence, P.C. Q.C. L.S.M. 1925 - 2008 On his own terms, at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Moira Patricia (McGuffin), loving father to Sean (Esther Shipman) and Alison (Brian Young) and devoted grandfather of Declan Lawrence and Emma Healey. Predeceased by his brother Kenneth and sister Marguerite (Allen). The youngest son of Frederick Charles Lawrence and Elizabeth (Ballantyne), Allan was born and bred in downtown Toronto, educated at Huron Street and Brown Public Schools and Jarvis Collegiate. He lied about his age and left Jarvis to enlist as an Able Seaman in the Canadian Navy, serving in the North Atlantic from 1944-1945. After leaving the Navy Allan obtained a BA from Victoria College, U of T, and graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1954. For 15 years he practiced law with the firm of McLaughlin May and Soward. He first ran for public office provincially in 1958, during the Leslie Frost era, in the downtown Toronto Riding of St. George, which included the neighbourhood where he grew up, becoming at the time the youngest ever Member of the Provincial Legislature. Provincially he served as Minister of Mines (and later as the first Minister of Northern Affairs), Attorney General and Minister of Justice. During this period he was also a member of the Board of Governors for Central Hospital for over 30 years. He ran for the leadership of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party in 1971, losing to Bill Davis by 44 votes. After leaving provincial politics, Allan and Moira moved to Fleetwood, Ontario, their home for 25 years. In 1972 he was elected Member of Parliament for the Riding of Northumberland-Durham. Federally he served as Solicitor-General of Canada and as Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs in Joe Clark's government, and was later Canadian Chair of the Canada-U.S. Permanent Joint Board of Defence and a United Nations delegate on justice issues. He was also active as the Canadian Delegate to the Geneva-based Inter- Parliamentary Union, the North Atlantic Assemblies, the NATO Defence Tours, and was a charter member and former Treasurer of the International Democratic Union. After retiring from public life in 1988 Allan devoted much of his time to work with the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Life Bencher, work which continued until this day, and in 2001 was awarded the Law Society Medal in recognition of his outstanding service to the legal profession. On moving to Cobourg in 1999 Allan gave his time as a director of the Northumberland Art Gallery and in work for the Northumberland Hospital Fundraising Campaign, but the work dearest to his heart was as the Chair of the Millennium Task Force at St. Peter's Anglican Church. In 2005 he was awarded the Churchill Society Award for Excellence in the Cause of Parliamentary Democracy. Despite Allan's many and varied public accomplishments he was above all a family man, and he and Moira were true partners in every sense of the word. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on September 1st. KLINE, Janet C. July 25, 1934 - June 13, 2008 - 74, a resident of Ocean View Manor, Eastern Passage, passed away June 13, 2008, after long-term illnesses. Born July 25, 1934, in Halifax, Janet was a daughter of the late William Henry and Maude Lena (Connors) Kline. Janet retired from HMC Dockyard, Halifax, Communications Office, where she performed her duties with diligence, dedication and allegiance. She provided loving home care to her parents until their passing. Due to disability, Janet retired early and suffered many subsequent years with numerous health problems. She enjoyed family attention and demonstrated her love for them on many occasions. Janet was a daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, great great-aunt and friend. Janet lived most of her early life in St. Theresa's and St. Catherine of Siena Parishes, Halifax. Surviving are her siblings, William F. (Evelyn Hall, deceased) Kline, Nepean, Ont.; Daniel E. (Eileen Elliott) Kline, Brocton, Mass.; Robert J. (Mary L. Myra) Kline, Ottawa, Ont.; Mary K. (Jack, deceased) Norris, Halifax; Helen T. (James) Lindsay, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by brothers, David J. (Phyllis White) Kline, Christopher Kline (infancy), and sister, Patricia (Raymond) Coolen. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by family request. A memorial service to celebrate Janet's life will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Saint Benedict Parish, formerly Saint Lawrence Church, 3473 Dutch Village Rd., Halifax, Father Mark Cherry will officiate. A reception in the church hall will follow the memorial service. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville. FETTERLEY, Sarah Parker McCreadie Milroy (Sadie) - Owner of Fetterley's Garage in Kearney for the last sixty years, in her 84th year, passed peacefully on September 6th after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family at her side. Much loved wife of the late Charles Albert Fetterley. Predeceased by her son, Rockland David and her only brother James Milroy. Loving mother of Thelma Tamaki (Art), Jim Fetterley, Debbie Branch (Ken), David Fetterley (Jenny), and Heather Pateman (Gary). Special grandmother to Lisa (Steve), Julie (Jeff), Jenna, Leah, Kyle, Erika and Rachel. Fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Edith Flood, Annie Murdy, Audrey Wilson and their families and the families of the late Irene and Clyde Murdy and Bill and Jean Fetterley. Born in Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland, mum met dad when she delivered eggs to the house where he was billeted while on leave during the Second World War. Mum and dad were married at the end of the war and she immigrated to Canada, arriving at Pier 21 in Halifax, in 1946. After a year in Huntsville, they moved to Kearney. While caring for and nurturing her family was her first priority, mum believed that life should also be spent in service to others, to give more than you received. She was a member of Kearney's Council and many of its sub- committees for the last 5 years, past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, past member of the Women's Institute and Timberline Squares Dance Club. Mum participated in too many community events to count. Even during her recent illness, she organized the Belated Robbie Burns night, as part of the Town of Kearney Centennial festivities, ably assisted by her children, nieces and nephews. For her achievements, in 2008, she received the Senior of the Year Award for the Province of Ontario, from the Lieutenant Governor, David Onley. She was special to all who had met her. To our extended family, friends and neighbours both here and in Scotland your support over the last few months will never be forgotten. Visitation will be at the OPATOVSKY FUNERAL HOME - DEMPSTER CHAPEL in Burk's Falls on September 9th, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral will be September 10th at 11am at the Kearney Community Centre. FIELD, Arthur Edgecombe P. Eng - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing our beloved husband and father on September 7th, 2008 in Southampton Ontario. Art was a loving husband to Jean Hamilton for 39 years and the late Mary Stewart for 26 years. He was a caring father to Barbara (Bill Mann), Virginia, Arthur (Nicole Scott), Ross Hamilton (Adriana de Gouvea), Laura Hamilton (Ray Gormley), Carol Wills, and the late Stewart Field. Art will be remembered fondly by his grandchildren Jennifer, Jonathan, Kyler, Ella, Sydney, Eva, Sofia, Ashlyn, Catherine, Sam, James, and his great granddaughter Reese. Art lived a very full and satisfying life. A graduate of Upper Canada College, he served in the RCAF Squadron 423 as a Pilot Officer in the North Atlantic. He graduated from University of Toronto in 1948 as a civil engineer and had a successful business career in Toronto until his retirement in 1974. Retiring just outside the town of Durham in Grey County, Art established a successful consulting engineering firm, enjoyed farming, was active in the community, and engaged in municipal politics. In 1993 he and his wife Jean relocated to the town of Southampton where Art golfed, curled and was a member of many community organizations. Art was a passionate reader, a risk-taker, an imaginative thinker and a friend to many. A true gentleman to the end. . .he will be greatly missed! A memorial service will be held at the Southampton United church on Saturday September 13, 2008 at 2pm with a reception to follow. GRIFFIN, John Alexander WWII Veteran F/Lt. Retired October 5, 1922 - September 7, 2008 Born Three Rivers, Quebec. Predeceased by his parents, Christie Belle Stewart and Robert James Griffin and his step mother Antoinette Griffin. Dearly beloved husband for 63 years of Beryl (Mavety) Griffin. Proud father of Patricia Griffin and Donald Griffin. Loved 'Gramps' to Andrew Mosley (Isabelle) and Katherine Mosley. Survived by brother Robert Griffin of Elmvale, Ontario. John joined the R.C.A.F. in October 1941 and served until September 1945. He saw service overseas for 2 years in West Africa and India with 200 Squadron R.A.F., a Liberator pilot with Coastal Command. After the war, his career was with General Electric and later Industry, Trade and Commerce in the Aerospace Division until retirement. An Aviation historian, early President of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society. Author and long time volunteer at the Canadian Aviation Museum. A real gentleman, much loved by his family. He loved to spend time in his 'mini-archives' with his books and his workshop. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Blandford, R. Austin February 24, 1926 - June 12, 2008, age 82, of Amherst, Nova Scotia passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 at High Crest, Springhill, after a lengthy illness. Born in Burin, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Captain Maxwell and Alice (Cheeseman) Blandford. After immigrating to Canada, Austin served in the Royal Canadian Navy before attending Maritime Business College in Halifax. After working in the shoe business for Simpsons and Eatons in Halifax, Moncton, and Corner Brook, Austin moved his family to Amherst where he opened Blandford's Shoe Store. In later years he sold life insurance. Austin was president of the Moncton Y's Men's Club and Charter President of the Amherst Y's Men's Club where he was made a life member in 2004. He was a member of Lorneville United Church and served on a number of boards including the VON, the Cumberland District School Board, and the Drew Nursing Home. As a former Rotarian, he was actively involved with Camp Tidnish. Austin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion (nee Mills); son Bruce (Ron Atkinson) Toronto, daughters Anne and Lynn, New Glasgow; Joyce (Paul) Millman, Truro, and his adored grandchildren, Peter and Sarah Millman. He is also survived by his sisters Jean Smith, Kingston, ON; Marjorie Struss, Surrey BC; and his brother Max, Saskatoon, SK. He was predeceased by his brother Harvey. Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. KIDD ROBERT (WILF)- Passed away on September 7th, 2008 in Saint John, New Brunswick. Wilf was predeceased by his wife and companion of 58 years, Flora (Betty) and mourned by his children, Richard(Janet) of Darlings Island, Pat (Keith Nelder) of Big Pond, NS., Peter (Chantal) Bromont, Que. and David (Madelijne) of London, England. Wilf graduated in 1949 from Liverpool University to start his career as a Professional Mechanical Engineer. He worked in England and Scotland for G.E.C. and moved his family to Canada in 1967. In Canada, his career took him to Montreal, Cape Breton and finally to Saint John where he was a commissioning engineer at the Lepreau Nuclear Facility during its construction. Wilf's great passion was for boats and sailing, starting with a National 12, which he raced in England with Betty. As his family expanded, so did the size of the boats, culminating in a 39' ketch, Black Bear, which he finished in Saint John and sailed with Betty to the Caribbean and back. His family spent many happy times sailing on the West Coast of Scotland, on Lake Champlain, in Nova Scotia, Maine and the Caribbean. Wilf liked to travel and he and Betty travelled throughout Europe after he retired, particularly enjoying the South of France. He was a lifetime member of the Clyde Cruising Club and a member of the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club. Wilf greatly enjoyed the adventures of his children and never hesitated to visit them no matter where they were located. He loved his 11 grandchildren, Michelle, David, Rachel, Diarmid, Fiona, Graham, Allison, Dayna, Samantha, Malcolm and Joel, and they could always be assured of a special chocolaty surprise each Christmas. Wilf's family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Kennebec Manor for their care of Wilf over the past six months. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). A memorial service will be held at the Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Clement, 819 Millidge Avenue on Thursday September 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club. Private family interment to take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Wilf can be made to donor's choice or to the Jr. Sailing Program at the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club.
