JOHNSON ADRIEN J. P. - Richibucto, NB - Adrien J. P. Johnson, 70 of Richibucto, passed away at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste. Anne de Kent, NB on Sunday, July 27th, 2008. Born in Pont du Millieu, NB he was the son of the late Ben Johnson and late Sadie (Babineau) Johnson. He was retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Richibucto Legion, Branch No. 30. Adrien loved hunting, fishing was an avid card player. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years Mary; one daughter - Connie Johnson (Aurele Richard) - Richibouctou-Village; one son - Adrien Jr - Richibucto; one very special grandson - Ryan Ty Allain; two sisters - Dianna Thibodeau (Late Joe) - Richibucto, Jeannette Daigle (Clarence) - Aldouane; four brothers - Eric (Elva) - Galloway, Ronald (Marjorie) - Toronto, Elmo (Noella) - Bouctouche, Omer - ON; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by five brothers - Romeo (May), Adelard (Loreda), Albert, Roger (Victoria) and Edgar. Visitation will be at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto on Friday, August 1st, from 7-9. HANNAN, JAMIE LEE - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on July 28, 2008, Mr. Jamie Lee Hannan, husband of Mrs. Serena-Sue Lynn (French) Hannan of Old Ridge NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on June 17, 1976, he was a son of Ronald and Ruby (Hanley) Hannan. A loving husband, father, son, grandson and brother, Jamie is survived by his loving wife, Serena-Sue, two daughters; Chloe and Caylee both at home, parents, Ron and Ruby Hannan of Kerr's Ridge NB, two brothers; Jason (Danielle) Hannan and Jody (Bonnie) Hannan both of Kerr's Ridge NB, special nieces; Kaitlynn, Ashley and Hannah, maternal grandparents, Hilton (Alberta) Hanley of Back Bay and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Victor and Bertha Hannan. Jamie was a totally devoted and loving family man who enjoyed spending precious time with his family and traveling. He was employed as a Customs Officer in St. Stephen for the past 5 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed four wheeling, motorcycling and was a talented and skilled handyman. He will be sadly missed by his large family and many friends. Resting at Seaview Full Gospel Church, Back Bay NB from where the service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating,the interment will follow at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. COOKE, FREDA RUTH- Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on July 29, 2008, Mrs. Freda Ruth (Cooke) Cooke, wife of the late Myles Lewis Cooke formerly of Back Bay NB, in her 98th year. Born at Watertown MA, on February 26, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Pearl Cooke. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one daughter, Darlene Robertson of Back Bay; one son, Douglas (Shirley) Quigley; also of Back Bay, seven grandchildren; Lisa Miner and her companion, Ralph Young of Bridgtown NS; Kara (Brian) Golding of Pennfield NB; Timmy Robertson of Kermeous BC; Shelly (Garard) Arsenault of Oak Bay NB; Mickey (Amy) Quigley of Florida; Lori Quigley of Portland ME; and Douglas Quigley JR. of St. Stephen NB; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, Milton Quigley; and her second husband Myles Cooke. Freda was a member of the Church of Christ at Back Bay, she loved her cats and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Matthew S. Wesselby 1980 - 2008 Matthew Stephen Wesselby, formerly of Moncton, passed away unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, July 28th, 2008. Born in Vancouver, April 29th, 1980, he is the beloved son of Stephen and Karen (Kinden) Wesselby. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and sports, particularly basketball. Matthew will be especially remembered for his beautiful smile, great sense of humour and love for his family. He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Karen; his only brother, Anthony; paternal grand parents, Fred "Papa" & Gill Wesselby; and maternal grandparents, Harold "Bampie" and Angela "Grammie" Kinden, all of Moncton; several aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as Matthew's beloved "Marnie" and George Mills of Moncton. Logan E. Wellman-Gillcash Logan E. Wellman-Gillcash, 13, of Intervale, son of Wendy Wellman, Intervale and Charles Gillcash, Ammon, passed away unexpectedly in Ammon on Monday, July 28, 2008 as the result of a dune buggy accident. Born in Moncton, Logan would have been entering grade 8 at Petitcodiac Regional School; member of First North River Baptist Church (Intervale); enjoyed golfing at Petitcodiac Golf & Country Club, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, was an avid John Deere tractor enthusiast and NASCAR fan; but most of all, enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical. Besides his parents, he will be sadly missed by grandmothers, Doris Gillcash, Freda Wellman, both of Moncton; sister, Natasha Flanagan, Riverview; brothers, Tyler and Tyson Gillcash, Ammon; best friend, Garret MacDiarmid and his dog, "Abby"; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Isabel Anne Gardner 1931 - 2008 The death of Isabel Anne Gardner, wife of Gerry Gardner, occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, July 28th, following a brief illness. Born in Rexton on September 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys (Hudson) Girvan. Isabel truly loved her family and friends and will be fondly remembered for her love of gardens and nature, her great cooking and, in particular, her homemade bread which was a favourite among all who sampled it. At one time an avid golfer, she had been a member of Lakeside Golf and Country Club, as well as an associate member of the Air Force Veterans Club. She is survived by her husband, Gerry Gardne; her daughters, Lynn Geddes of Ottawa, Lee Geddes (Allan Chaulk) of Halifax; her granddaughter, Aynsley Geddes of Ottawa; her brother, Don Girvan (Janet) of Moncton; her mother-in-law, Pearley Gardner of Pefferlaw, ON; as well as several nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents, Isabel was predeceased by her first husband, Robert (Bob) Geddes, and her brother Claude Girvan. Maurice J. Albert Jan 6, 1948-Jul 17, 2008 BRISTOL, CT - Maurice J. Albert, 60, of Bristol, husband of Armande (Blanchard) Albert, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Bristol Hospital. Maurice was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada on January 6, 1948 and was a son of Anita (Lagace) Albert of St. Anne, New Brunswick, Canada and the late Eddy Albert. He resided in Bristol for 41 years and prior to retiring a year ago, he was employed at Arborio Corporation, Cromwell. He was a member of St. Ann Church, Bristol. William R. McGovern Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on July 6, 2008 at the age of 79, Mr. William R. McGovern. Born in Saint John, NB on March 28, 1929, he was the son of the late Richard Cleveland (step-father) and the late Agnes A. McGovern. He leaves to mourn his wife, Albina Ouellette; his step-son, Clarence Grenier of Montreal; his sister, Ms. Joyce E. Moores of Glencoe, NB; his brother, Gerald J. Cleveland of Robinsonville, NB. Opal Annabella Irvine The death of Opal Irvine occurred on Tuesday, 22 July 2008 at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia, Ontario in her 95th year. Opal was born 23 January 1914 in New Carlisle, Bonaventure County, P.Q., the eldest daughter of the late Francis Burns Smith and the late Mary Jane Chatterton, of New Carlisle. A long-time resident of Mann Settlement, P.Q. and Campbellton, N.B., she relocated to Toronto in 1967, a few years after the death of her husband, the late Earle Irvine Sr. and lived there until relocating to Sarnia, ON in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Earle Jr. (Dorothy) of Edmonton, AB and Daniel, of Sarnia, ON; daughters, Irma (Malcolm) McColl, of Strathroy, ON and Brenda, of Toronto, ON; four grandsons, Glenn (Brenda) Irvine, of Dauphin, MB and Stephen (Joan) Irvine, of Halifax, N.S., Kris (Corinne) Thompson, of Toronto, ON; three granddaughters, Wendy Chetney of Baltimore, Maryland, Lisa (Paul) Fulham, of Jordan River, BC and Kimberley Giardino, of Munster, ON; five great grandsons, Sean Irvine and Luke Irvine, of Halifax, N.S., Justin Chetney, of Newport News, Virginia, Paul Fulham Jr., of Jordan River, B.C., Jason Giardino, of Mississauga, ON; and six great granddaughters, Jocelyn Irvine, Leanna Irvine and Emily Irvine, of Dauphin, MB and Julia Irvine, of Halifax, N.S., Kari Chetney of Newport News, Virginia and Jennifer Giardino, of Milton, ON; She is also survived by one sister, Avis Smith, of Greenfield Park, P.Q.; and by six nephews, Charles Smith, Craig Smith, Ross Smith, Darryl Smith, Richard Smith and Ronald Smith; and one niece, Starr Sinclair. Sam Carmelo Campanella August 23, 1954 - July 29, 2008 After a long fought battle with cancer, Sam passed away July 29, 2008, in his 54th year, leaving behind his angel Caroline Fanson and the big one, Cajolene (Jesse), the middle one, Cheryl (Jamie) and the little one, Jenny. Also leaving behind our prince Beau and his goddaughter Kirsten Stengel. Loving son of Salvatore and the late Maria, and brother of Mary (Andrea). COCHRAN, Anne B. 2008-07-31 After a long life, Anne Cochran‘s courageous, indefatigable Spirit was freed from the shackles of her failed body as she passed from this life on July 16, 2008 at her residence in Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home. She was the third daughter of Dossie and Malcolm Cochran, born and brought up in Thunder Bay. She is survived by her sisters, Mary B. Gray of Toronto and Susan Simonsen of Thunder Bay as well as by seven nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jane Jones of Dryden and her three bothers-in-law, Ross Gray of Toronto, Thomas S. Jones of Dryden and Leif Simonsen of Thunder Bay. Though never physically able to participate in many activities, her management of the family home, her involvement in support of the Anglican Church and her appreciation of classical music, made her a notable person beloved by many. She explained that because she always had to depend on help from others, she established two bursaries for the School of Social Work at Lakehead University as a tribute to the many professional health/social workers who enriched her life. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Anne B. Cochran will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church with Rev. Peter Smyth presiding. A reception will follow. CLEMENS, MARGARET ALEXANDRA 2008-07-31 (nee Lamont) Born December 19, 1918, passed away peacefully July 24th, 2008 after enjoying a morning walk in the sunshine. Walter, her loving husband of 53 years, predeceased Margaret in July, 2001. Mom is survived by her six adoring children, Murray (Diane), Carol (Jeremy), Bob (Rae), Rick (Doris), Monty (Margy), Ian (Nadia), 10 grandchildren and one newly arrived great grandchild. Mom loved and was proud of her children, but truly shone when talking of her grandchildren. Mom is also survived by two brothers, Campbell and Colin, nieces and nephews all of who were an important part of her life. Besides her devotion to her family, Mom was an educator, and an active volunteer, working with the Cancer Society, Catholic Woman‘s League, and Arthritis Society. Member of Legion Branch #638 Peacefully, at the Empress Kanata on Friday, July 25, 2008. Predeceased in August 2002 by her beloved husband Robert. She was the devoted mother of Carol (Victor), Judy, and David (Lynn). Proud grandmother of George, Emily, Stephen , Sarah, Nicholas and Laura. She will be missed by her sister Judith (Robert) Campbell. Predeceased by her sister Elizabeth and her brother John. Caroline grew up in North Hatley, Quebec, the daughter of the late Carroll Cate and Maida LeBaron and step-daughter of the late Elizabeth Shurtleff. MAXTED, Margaret Lorraine (nee Caldwell) The Lord Jesus Christ came into His garden at 11:25pm Friday night July 25 to pluck one of His choicest lilies (song of Solomon 6:2) with Jack, her devoted husband of 60 years holding her hand and her much loved daughter-in-law Louise kissing her brow. She sweetly and ever-so-gently passed into the arms of Jesus, whom she loved and served from childhood. Margaret was the best of wives and one who lived for her Saviour, her husband and her adored sons. We mourn for our beloved Margaret but yet rejoice that all her pain and sorrows are over. She is safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast. Her many children who will miss greatly her sweet way are John (Louise), Mark (Sharon), Randolph, Steven (Grace) and Paul. Her numerous grandchildren are Johnny and Heidi (Steven Hlohinec), Katrina and Justin, Brittany, Breanna and Anthony, and three step grandchildren Sarah, Hannah and Adam. She has 2 precious great granddaughters, Amanda and Emma. MENDELS, Irene (nee Jacobson). Peacefully at home, on Saturday, July 26, 2008, in her eighty-first year. Beloved wife of the late Benjamin (Babe) Mendels. Predeceased by her parents, Annie Rich and Abraham Jacobson, and by her brothers, Robert and Melvin Jacobson. Born in Sydney, NS, Irene lived her youth in Chatham, NB. A Registered Nurse, she worked for the Victorian Order of Nurses and in the Emergency Room of the Jewish General Hospital. Irene served as President of Montreal Hadassah WIZO and was a Governor of the McGill University Health Centre Hospitals. For many years, she was a Governor and served as a Volunteer Guide at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. During her last illness, Irene was lovingly cared for by her cousins, Catherine Rich Kearney and Myrna Bramson. She will be mourned by four generations of cousins and many friends.
