O'LEARY, CARRIE GERTRUDE Carrie Gertrude (Mersereau) O'Leary of Fredericton Junction, NB passed away at Home on June 2, 2008 at the age of 97. Carrie is survived by three daughters Lois Harris and Ruth O'Leary both of Fredericton Junction and Melissa Wilson (Kelly) of Banff, AB, three sons Blaine O'Leary (Margaret) of Fredericton Junction, Vaughan O'Leary (Brother Peregrino) of Germany and Gerald O'Leary (Dianne) of Rusagonis, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Carrie was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church and was a Home maker to her family. She was the last surviving member of a 12-member family. She is predeceased by her parents Carrie (Phillips) and John B. Mersereau, her husband Edward Clarence O'Leary, several sisters and brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home for visitation on Tuesday, June 3, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral service will be from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Fredericton Junction, on June 4, 2008 at 11 AM with the Right Reverend George Lemmon officiating. SMITH, MR. ROBERT JOHN (BOB) - of Moncton, formerly of Grand Forks, BC, passed away unexpectedly at the Riviere du Loup Hospital on May 29, 2008 at the age of 54. Bob was born in Sussex on January 15, 1954 and was the son of the late Kenneth I. & Ruth (McLeod) Smith. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Cindy (Onions) Smith and her parents, Dave & Diane Onions of Grand Forks, BC; brothers, Lester and his wife Caroline of Lower Sackville, NS, Gary and his partner Stephanie Bell of Brookfield, NS, Willard and his wife Helena of Penobsquis NB; sisters, Doreen Hawkes of Sussex, NB, Laurine (Arthur) Raymond of Searsville, NB and Nina (Albert) Boyd of Kingston, ON; sister-in-law, Myrna Smith of Fredericton, NB as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth I. & Ruth Smith; his brother, Stephen, and his brother-in-law, Herbert. As an expression of sympathy donations made to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. A private interment will take place at Pioneer Cemetery in Penobsquis.

LONG, REV. BRIAN RICHARD - 54, Quispamsis, NB, passed away peacefully at home on June 1st, 2008. He was the son of the late George and Joyce (Groh) Long. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Goldie); daughters, Noreen (Alan) Hudson, Annette Long, Julie (Kirk) Gormley; and son, Graham (Heather) Long; sister, Wendy (Rod) Barlow; uncle, Bruce Groh and two grandchildren, Colby and Brian Hudson. He was a graduate of Brock University and later received a Masters of Divinity from Acadia. He was ordained in May of 1979. Brian faithfully served his Lord as Pastor for 32 years. This included student pastorates in the Aylesford/Morristown and Middleton/Mount Hanley/Port George Charges. In May 1977, Brian became the founding Pastor of Heartlake Baptist Church, Brampton, Ont, moving to Birch Cove Baptist Church, Halifax, NS in 1986 and to Kennebecasis Baptist Church, Quispamsis as Senior Pastor in 1996. Brian had many interests, badminton, photography, music (piano, euphonium) and canoeing. Brian will always be remembered for his growing love for God and people. Visitation will be held at Kennebecasis Baptist Church, Quispamsis, on June 5th and 6th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on June 7th at 3:30 pm. A reception will be held at the church, immediately following the service. KEALEY, Winnifred "Gwen" In Ottawa, suddenly on June 1, after a full life of 94 years. Widow of Wilbur "Wib" Kealey and daughter of the late Clara O'Connell-Houston and Thomas Healey. Predeceased by her brother Gordon Healey and sister Claire Newell. She is survived by her son Peter Kealey and daughter Katherine Kealey (Joe Chouinard), both of Ottawa. Gwen was a career Federal public servant. On her retirement, she was Chief of Directives Management of the Unemployment Insurance Commission, exercising her eagle-eyed editing with firmness and finesse, an ability she maintained undiminished to the last. She had many qualities that set her apart. Gwen was much admired for her fashion sense and for her many kindnesses to those around her. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her for her astonishing enthusiasm for living life to the full and for her ability to stay connected to the world - traits that stayed with her to the very end. But most important, and to her great credit, was her commitment to her son Peter. Even when compared to exceptional mothers, she was superior in her devotion to him and to her entire family. If a life is measured by self sacrifice, strength of will, and luck at the tables, she was a winner by any standard. She will be missed by her many friends at Rideau Place on the River in Ottawa, where she had lived for the last 7 years. As she wished, there will be a celebration of her life and a reception at Rideau Place on the River, 550 Wilbrod Street, Ottawa, on Thursday, 5 June between 4 and 7 pm in the 1st floor lounge. ZARUDZKA, Anni Karla (nee With) At Ste-Agathe des Monts Hospital on May 31, in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Kazimierz (Kazik). Anni was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on August 9th, 1916. She resided in England from 1939 until 1957 when the family immigrated to Canada. Anni is a recipient of The Memory Medal for the Liberation (of Denmark) in May 1945 "for her highly appreciated service speaking in Danish in the daily broadcasts from the B.B.C. in London to occupied Denmark during the dark years, 1940 - 1945." Anni is survived by her daughter Hella and her son-in-law Richard Bertrand, her son Richard and her daughter-in-law Janet Zarudzki, and her daughter Julia Zarudzka. She will be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren Michael Zarudzki and Paul and Rebecca Bertrand. Anni had wonderful, close friends who provided her with a lifetime of memorable moments. Sincere thanks to all the doctors and staff of the palliative care unit of the Ste-Agathe Hospital for their compassion and care. A special note of appreciation to Martine Wheeler of La Falaise residence in St-Sauveur. Visitation at the Church at 10:30 am, one half hour preceding the service at 11:00 am, June 7 to be held at 825 rue du Village, Morin Heights United Church, Quebec. FOURNIER, Guy Paul June 21, 1938 - May 31, 2008 Guy Fournier passed away after a lengthy illness on May 31, 2008 at the age of 69 years. Guy was born in Rogersville, N.B., he joined the R.C.A.F. in 1955 and took discharge in 1970. Joined the R.C.M.P. in 1973 until retirement in 1994. HEATER-BISCHKE, Pauline January 19, 1911 - June 1, 2008 Pauline Heater-Bischke of Calgary passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the age of 97 years, after a brief illness. Pauline was born in Kassel, near Odessa, Ukraine, the eldest daughter of Fredrich and Katrina Koch. The family immigrated to Canada in 1914 and homesteaded near Hilda, AB. Upon the death of Katrina, Pauline raised her ten siblings. After marriage, she and her first husband William farmed in the Schuler area until 1937 when they moved to the Okotoks area, ultimately buying a farm at DeWinton where she resided to the present. Pauline is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Sheila, Reuben and Sylvia, Alan and Patricia; three stepsons, Ronald, Richard and Benjamin Bischke; and three stepdaughters, Viola, Jean and Irene (nee Bischke). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Pauline was predeceased by her first husband William in 1972; her second husband John in 1994; and her son Elmer in 1994. GIERA, Emilia - At her residence, on Thursday, May 29, 2008, Emilia Giera (nee: Marczewski), age 100, of Raleigh Township. Emilia came to Canada at age 21 and was the oldest member of Our Lady of Victory Church and the Polish Canadian Club. She will be sadly missed by: her children: Christine Grant of Merlin and Stan Giera and his wife Deryl Ann Hall Giera of Chatham. Four grandchildren, Frances Dawdry and her husband Albert of Pain Court, Natalie Novak of Chatham, Wendy Giera of Toronto and Christopher Giera of South Korea. She will also be missed by 4 great grandchildren, Fallon and Dustin Dawdry, and Lacy and Chad Schnekenburger. She is predeceased by all her brothers and sisters. He was an avid Hunter and Fisherman and was a member of the local Hunters Club. Garfield was also well known for his cultural diversity through his carvings and his involvement traditionally. MacKAY, Glen 1920 - 2008 On May 30, 2008, Glen MacKay of Black Diamond, Alberta passed away at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his niece Geri Molson and nephew Jack MacKay, as well as his cousins, Bette Hastings, Billie Dancer, Shirley Lehman and Muriel McVicar. He was predeceased by his sister Margie. Glen grew up in Kenora, Ontario where he worked as a jeweller for many years. Along with his sister Margie, he moved to Black Diamond, Alberta in the 1970's where they both became active community members and volunteers. Glen will be dearly missed by many people. A private family gathering of remembrance will occur in Winnipeg. CODY, Shirley Jane (nee Keyuk) It is with profound sadness that the Cody family announces the sudden passing of our beloved Shirley after a very short, hard fought illness early Sunday morning June 01st, 2008. Surrounded by her entire family, Shirley Jane Cody, in her 72nd year, joined her soul-mate and much loved partner of 42 years, the late John Richard (Dick) Cody (1997) as well as her parents Dorothy (nee Clouthier) (1988) and George Keyuk (1998) and her Mother-In-Law Mary Cody (1998). Left to mourn the loss of their devoted and loving Mother is her son Stephen Cody (Debbie) of Cobourg Ont. and her daughters Donna (Gilles Quintal) of Orleans, Ont., Rosemary (Bill MacGregor) of Zurich Ont. and Cindy (Mike Lacelle) of Orleans. Adored and truly loved by her 8 Grandchildren Jennifer (David Macleod), Sarah Quintal, Kelly, Allison & Katie MacGregor, Sean Cody, Bradley & Chelsey Lacelle and soon-to-be 1st Great-Grandchild (Baby Macleod due in December). Survived by her loving sister Lorraine Keyuk of Ottawa, Ont., brothers Jeff Keyuk (Kim) of Ashton, Ont. and John Keyuk (Anne) of Aylmer, Quebec. Sister-In-Law to Joan (Maurice Tremblay) and Jim Cody (Vera) both of Ottawa, Ont. Much loved God-Mother of Krystina Zeroual, Megan Cody and Catherine Keyuk. Dear Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins. Will be missed by many dear friends especially Lynn Marie Hearty and Elisa & Meziane Zeroual & family and her life long friend Monica Burgess. She will also be missed by her Sassy, Abbey and Ozzie. Serge Yves venait de célébrer ses 56 ans entouré de ses proches; maintenant il a rejoint son père Dawson Beaulieu et son amour de toujours Hélène Lussier Beaulieu. Serge était un homme de tête, de décisions et d'actions. Il a travaillé à partager ses talents, connaissances et dynamisme, notamment au sein du Groupement des chefs d'entreprises du Québec. SUTTON, Roy Frederick, Ph.D. - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing at his home, after a lengthy illness, of Roy Sutton on Monday, June 2, 2008 in his 82nd year. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria, daughters Penelope Sutton (Alexander Carruthers) of Montreal and Patience Jackson (Dwayne) of London, Ontario and grandson Mackenzie Roy Carruthers of Montreal. Roy was born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire, England in 1926, and grew up in nearby Birmingham. After leaving grammar school in 1944, he spent his National Service in the Royal Signals Special Communications Unit, which took him to India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Hong Kong in the closing months of WWII (The Pacific Campaign). Upon demobilization, Roy set his sights on a career in forestry, initially training as a field forester at one of the UK Forestry Commission's forester training schools. Encouraged by school staff, he subsequently enrolled in a forestry program at Edinburgh University, graduating in 1955 with a B.Sc. in Forestry, distinguished by the award of the Elizabeth Irvine Sinclair Prize for highest academic standing in the Forestry Class of 1955. Upon graduation Roy was awarded one of three Beaverbrook Post-graduate Scholarships to study for his M.Sc in Forestry at the University of New Brunswick. This marked the beginning of his lifelong dedication to the advancement of forest science in Canada. In December 1956 he began what was to become a 50- year research career with the Canadian Forest Service in its various guises. The past 40 of these years were spent at the Great Lakes Forestry Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. Early on, in 1968, Roy had earned a Ph.D. from Cornell University in New York state for his research into the silviculture and ecology of White Spruce, a subject of scientific investigation that would occupy him during his entire career with the federal government. In a stellar career, he was widely recognized as an authority in his chosen field of research, with almost 10 publications to his credit, and was the recipient of numerous awards. Many will remember him as a meticulous investigator, a knowledgeable and inspiring colleague and mentor, as well as a talented writer. In later years he was made a Senior Research Scientist, a position he held until his official retirement in 1993. However, retirement did not bring an end to his scientific mission - after retirement Roy was made a Scientist Emeritus at the Great Lakes Forestry Centre and continued to publish the results of his research into early 2007. Roy's devotion and generosity to the Arts Community in Sault Ste. Marie over the past 40 years was well Known. He served for four years as President of the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and as a life member of the Musical Comedy Guild, took an active part in several of their productions (he was especially fond of Gilbert and Sullivan). Roy also served on the Community Theatre Board and was its secretary for many years. Involved in the project from the start, he played a significant leadership role in the eventual establishment of the Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre. In 2005 he was awarded The Cultural Advisory Board Community Recognition Award “for his significant contribution and commitment to the cultural well-being of the community.“ The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to those friends and relatives who supported them emotionally and practically throughout Roy's long illness. At Roy's request there will be no funeral service. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Roy's life, from 2 - 4:30 p.m. (Condolences 2:00 p.m., Music and Memories, 2:30 p.m., Reception 3:30 p.m.) on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Art Gallery of Algoma. MACINTOSH, Alexander A. Peacefully in his 86th year, Alex left us on February 3, 2008. His kind nature, elegant demeanor and gentle confidence will be missed by his three remaining children, Craig, Donald and Enid; his sister, Gladys Clarkin of Charlottetown; the Johnston clan and many friends. He was predeceased by his Edinburgh-born war bride, Edith (nee Johnston) and their infant daughter, Catherine. Alex joined the army at 17 and quickly became a sergeant seeing duty in England, Europe and later in Korea. After the army he enjoyed Toronto for nearly 60 years. Being born in Caledonia, his annual trips there were a highlight for him. He will have his final resting place in his beloved red soil. Burial to be Wednesday, June 4, at 4 p.m. in Caledonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Ferguson’s Montague Funeral Home.

HENRY, FLOYD HAROLD Floyd Harold Henry passed away peacefully at his home in Simonds, NB with his family by his side on May 31, 2008. Floyd was born on July 7, 1935, the eldest son of the late Edwin and Elsie (Coffey) of Harvey Station. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Ilene (Baker); his three children, Wanda (Matthew) LaPlante of Sussex, NB, Larry (Cindy) of Brockville, ON and Lorri (Eric) Green of Connell, NB; four grandchildren, Zachary and Alex LaPlante, Maggie and Aidan Henry; his only brother, Ted (Marilyn) of Harvey Station, NB; three sisters, Faye (Wayne) Hossack of Pointe Clair, PQ, Shirley (Michael) Clark of Woodstock, NB and Marion Mitchell of Fredericton, NB. Predeceased by his sister, Freda Grant of Harvey Station, NB. Floyd's teaching career brought him to Carleton County in 1956, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and showing his guidance to the students at Florenceville Regional High School and Carleton North Senior High School. He touched many lives which became very evident to him and his family when former students would approach us sharing the Mr. Henry stories, along with expressing their appreciation and gratitude. Floyd had many loves, first and foremost Ilene his wife of 50 years, his three children Wanda, Larry and Lorri, his family and friends. Then came his passion for wood working, gardening, restoring a 1937 Oldsmobile and "puttering". He was a Dad that could fix anything, was called upon by many, be it family, friends or neighbors, he would grab his readily armed 'red" tool box and gladly head out to assist. Visitation will be held at Faith Memorial United Church, Burnham Road, Florenceville, NB on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from Faith Memorial United Church at 2 PM. A private family interment will be held at the Simonds Rural Cemetery.
