HERMANS, John Henri (Affectionately known as Hank) April 19, 1922 - May 6, 2008 Henri Hermans, beloved husband of Thelma of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Besides his loving wife Thelma, Henri is survived by his son, John and wife Joyce of Edmonton, AB; two daughters, Judy Garrisen of Calgary and Pat Feddersen and husband Ben of Kelowna, BC; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Joy Markle of Claresholm, AB and his brother Marcus Hermans of Seattle, WA. Henri was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Lily Hermans and his son-in-law, John Garrisen. LAW, Donald Coleman Passed away in Consort, Alberta on May 4, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Don was born October 17, 1927 in Newport, Quebec. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Sawyerville, Quebec, and at the age of twenty-one, decided to venture out west to seek a new career. It was in Millarville, Alberta where Don met and married his wife of forty-three years Margret Anne Scatterty. Don was a hard-working man who, through dedication to his work as a steel fabricator, moved up through the ranks to provide for his family. In retirement Don and Anne enjoyed camping with their family and grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his son Donald James (Jim) - 1992; his wife Margret Anne. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Gloria (Tom) Bayrack - Edmonton, Donna Bauman - Consort, Bill (Heather) Law - Calgary, Cathie (Marvin) Nicholson - Red Deer; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Cliff (Helen) Law - Cochrane, brother-in-law Jim (Cathie) Scatterty - Millarville, sister-in-law Joan Goyette - Grand Prairie; numerous nieces and nephews. LITTERICK, Frances Mary (nee Jenkins) It is with sadness that we announce the death of our grandmother Frances Litterick on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the age of 98 at her home in Porteous Lodge, Saskatoon, SK. Frances was born October 18, 1909 in Kildonan, MB. She resided for many years in Winnipeg and Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, whom she wed on May 30, 1930, and her son Jim. She will be remembered by her seven grandchildren and their families: Jim, Heather, Sandy, Noreen, Karen, Robbie, and Diana. She will also be missed by niece Wilma Dixon and family of Burlington, ON, and by close family friend Marion Widlake of Winnipeg, MB. We would like to recognize the loving care of the staff at Porteous Lodge and also Meadow Green Care Home where she resided until October, 2007. McGREGOR, Doris Evelyn (nee Moore, Seidlitz) August 4, 1918 - May 6, 2008 Doris McGregor of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Bow View Manor nursing home at the age of 89 years. Doris had a wonderful and a full life. She grew up on a farm near Richardson, SK, where she married Max Seidlitz in 1943. Doris and Max farmed in the Richardson area until the late 1960's and raised four sons. Doris was later remarried to Ian McGregor in 1972 and moved with him to Calgary where she has since resided. Surviving Doris are three sons, Dale (Sandra) Seidlitz of Cochrane, Doug (Sharon) Seidlitz of Regina and Dennis (Linda) Seidlitz of Calgary; a niece, Sharon (Bob) Bloechly of Omaha, NB; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Sarah Jane Moore; her first husband, Max Seidlitz; her son Donald Seidlitz; her second husband, Ian McGregor; and two brothers, Reginald Moore and Robert Moore. At Doris' request there will be no Funeral. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Regina. MENZIES, Allan Robert June 13, 1924 - May 6, 2008 Allan "Al" Menzies, beloved husband of Elsie Muriel Menzies of Calgary, passed away on May 6, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Al worked for the Calgary Police Service for thirty-four years, working his way up to Superintendent. During the 1988 Calgary Olympics, he volunteered many hours providing security for the Games. Besides his loving wife, Al is also survived by his two children, Karen Ortman and Douglas Menzies; and three grandchildren: Tara (Tony) Tomlinson, Brett and Jared Menzies. He was predeceased by his brother, Don Menzies. A private Family Ceremony will be held. REIZES, Sylvia (nee Pain). Sylvia passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 25, 2008. Diagnosed with cancer she defied the odds, and in her last years enjoyed a full life. Predeceased by husband and best friend for forty-five years Henryk, she was the proud mother of Stephen, Peter, Alexandra, adoring grandmother of Marika, Milan, Julian and Anna, and loving sister of Charles and Dorothy. SCHUSTER, William Eldon October 26, 1938 - May 7, 2008 It is with the saddest of hearts that our family announces the passing of our dear Dad, Grandfather, Friend and Husband, Bill Schuster, on May 7, 2008, at the age of 69. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of forty-seven years Pearl (Dolores), and their children Shane and Marg, Dennell and Mark, and Valerie and Jason. His grandchildren, Kristin, Ryan, Meagan and Justin will always remember Grandpa as the one with a quick smile and a firm helping hand. Bill's two sisters, Grace and Vi, his brother-in-law Ed, and sister-in-law Inez, will lovingly remember him as will many other relatives. Bill's extensive career in the hardware and fishing tackle business brought joy to his life as well as life-long friends. His love for the outdoors was evident by the many years spent camping with family and friends. Bill's talent and creativity with woodworking can be seen and is treasured at home and in each of his children's homes. Bill was predeceased by his parents Mary and Pat Sr., his brother Pat Jr., and brother-in-law Quado Heller, all of whom will watch out for him now, as he is in tender caring hands. WADAMS, Amelia (Babe) Passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on May 6, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Babe will be lovingly remembered by her children, Frank (Tracey Baryski) and Keith (Joanne Jagers); four grandchildren, Nachelle, Morgan, Kendra and Jensen. She is also survived by two sisters, Marg Volier and Loranne (Harold) Wesley; one brother, Norm (Muriel) Williams as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. ELTON FLETCHER BOB JACKSON will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Mildred, and his children Douglas (Inara), Janet, (Aubrey), Donald (Beth), and Barb (Bernard). His grandchildren will miss his ready smile and sense of humour. Whatever Bob did, from duplicate bridge to the Police Commission, he did with enthusiasm. After serving as a pilot during WWII, Bob returned to his hometown to serve and protect on the Trenton Police Force. The skies continued to call so Bob returned to a career in the RCAF. Retirement was not enough, so he took a position as clerk and bailiff of the Small Claims Court. Finally Bob called it quits in 1988 but he never gave up on his church. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, serving his Lord in the Sunday School, Board of Managers, Session, and Trustees. He also designed the exterior of the extension of St. Andrew's. Bob appreciated the support of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 110 and he was very proud of the National Air Force Museum of Canada here in Trenton. Bob's great passion was Scouting, where he encouraged children and leaders alike for over 50 years, eventually receiving the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for his faithfulness. And now, as the Scouters would say, Bob has gone home. The family would like to extend special thanks to the 6th floor nurses at the BGH, Dr. K. Reynolds, Dr. F. Barnabi, and the other surgeons, who were outstanding in their care. 11081241

PERRIER, Edmund J. Perrier - Passed away May 7, 2008 after an 8 year battle with osteoporosis and recently pneumonia. Born Dec 13th, 1924, in Thunder Bay district, Baird Township, Edmund grew up on the family farm and left school after grade 8 to help out during those tough times. He built fighter planes for the war effort at The Canada Car in Thunder Bay and eventually when he was of age, enlisted himself in the Princess Patricia Light Infantry. After the war, Edmund worked for Canadian National Railways as a fireman until 1959 when steam locomotives were finally phased out. It was during this time that he met Ann Geraldine Bristow and they were married on Sept 17th, 1954. They settled in Thunder Bay, raised a family, and eventually moved to Thorold, Ontario in 1980 to escape the cold winters and to be close to Edmund's sister Margaret and family. In 1985 they moved to Niagara Falls. Edmund will be missed dearly by all his family and friends, including his son Wayne and wife Elyzabeth Perrier; daughter Jennifer and husband Jiri Slovencik, and 4 grandchildren, Conner Slovencik, Edison, Marla, and Andreas Perrier, as well as his sisters Rita, Cecille and Margaret, brother Thomas, and many nieces, nephews, and other family. Edmund was predeceased by wife Ann Perrier (1993), siblings Eleanor, Rose, Louise, John, and parents Adolph and Marie Perrier. BISTRETZAN, Daniel - Dan Bistretzan of RR 1 Ravenna passed away suddenly in Meaford on Wednesday May 7, 2008 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, the former Mildred Elizabeth McNichol in March 2007. HART, Michael George 25 February 1940 - 08 May 2008 - It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Mike Hart announces the death of a unique and special man. Husband and soul mate to Lynne, father and friend to Eric and his wife, Tiffany and grandfather extraordinaire to Owen. Mike was greeted and welcomed into heaven by his son Chris and daughter Carolyn. Mike is survived by his brothers Robert and David and his sister Elizabeth. Mike holds a special place in the hearts of his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Captain Mike was a loving and adopted Grandpa to Jeremy, Jordyn, Matthew, Ryan, Spencer and Rachel. We all grieve his death, but remain inspired by his zest for life. Mike began his career as a pilot in 1960 flying with the Royal Canadian Air Force and logged more than 4100 hours in six years. In 1966, Captain Mike joined Air Canada and enjoyed sharing the wonderful memories of his postings in Jamaica and Singapore. Mike's love of Demark sparked many grand adventures in his home away from home. Most recently, Mike facilitated the restoration of a CF100 at CFB Borden which is on display at the museum on the base. Known for his wry smile, playful nature and big heart, Mike was a vital part of the community. Together with Lynne, they organized and participated in many functions in the area. A celebration of Mike's life will take place at STECKLEY- GOODERHAM on Monday, May 12th at 1 pm, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario. Visitation will be at the Hart home in Utopia on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th from 2 pm to 6 pm. CHAPUT, James (Jim) Edgar August 19, 1936 - May 7, 2008 Good morning. Jim here. Just wanted to bring you up to speed. I won't be able to meet with you this week. I'm a little busy. All those plans we had, well, we'll have to reschedule for a later date, no rush. I won't bore you with details, you probably already know. Anyone can know the simple stuff. What I wanted to know was the stuff you could find out if you dug a little deeper. And don't forget to take a bit of time to talk about me among yourselves. They tell me I did things in a special way and I did them pretty good actually. I've had a bit of time to think of a few things these past few days and you know I haven't caught up with my parents in quite some time and I have so many incredible journeys to tell them about...so many wonderful experiences and adventures...and so many messages from Donna. So, if you're wondering, that's where I'll be. I always said, "Today's going to be a great one...I don't see my name in the obituaries." And every day that I was able to spend with those I knew and loved was the icing on my cake. Speaking of the icing, my very best friend, Tina, and my very best buddies, Deano, Steffanie, Jan, Nicole, Scott, Mike, Joey, Dani, Cassidy and Zoe were thinking that if you wanted to come by for a visit on Sunday the 11th, we'll all be hanging out at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Or, if you can't make it, we'll see you at Scarboro United Church (134 Scarboro Avenue S.W.) at 1:00 p.m. on May 12. Don't be late...I hate being late so I'll probably get there before all of you. Oh, and please don't send flowers...they're quite a bit of work and you probably know I had enough trouble remembering to water the grass...Tina always had to remind me. Oh yes, one more thing...Bev, Nelda and Marguerite - thank you for getting me to my next appointment. I arrived right on time and safely. Don't worry about me, I'll be just fine. The days might seem long but I'll find some worthy causes to work on (I hear the Pearly Gates are a bit tarnished these days)...and I have my crossword puzzle book to keep me busy while I'm waiting for the rest of the gang to arrive. PERRY, Julia Teresa (nee Grantham-Stones) February 6, 1948 - May 7, 2008 Julia, the beloved wife of Paul, passed away at Foothills Hospital in Unit 47 after a courageous fight with cancer. The considerate and selfless service of the medical staff in Unit 47 was without exception. Julia was born in West Kirby, England and her adventurous spirit led her, her husband and five year old son James to Canada in 1978. Here she settled in Calgary and her risk taking energy created many successful private enterprises; she was particularly successful in the real estate market. Julia was just as successful in her family life. Her second son Duncan was born in 1981 and she also welcomed a daughter-in-law Amanda who married James in 2006. Julia had a very loving relationship with her husband Paul as thirty-eight years of a wonderful marriage attests to. Above all else she put the highest priority on her family and was overjoyed when re-united with her daughter Nicola. Her love of children was expressed in the contributions she made to such organizations as World Vision and Street Kids International. At a local level Julia was always ready to help neighbourhood kids by creating a safe haven for those who needed it. This helping hand and open heart was not limited just to children as can be confirmed by many who knew her. Julia had a unique blend of qualities rarely found in one soul, its impossible to list them all but here are a few. She was filled with joy and loved life. Julia's laughter was infectious and heard often. She was hard working, dedicated and loyal. Julia was a gentle and encouraging person who many came to for guidance. She was an outstanding woman and provided a role model that is an inspiration. Julia will be sadly missed by all.
