Né à St-Laurent I.O. le 4 septembre 1926, monsieur était le fils de feu dame Alphonsine Gendreau et de feu monsieur Fénélon Lachance. Il demeurait à St-Laurent I.O. Les funérailles seront célébrées le samedi 3 mai 2008 à 14h, en l'église de St-Laurent I.O., 1532, chemin Royal, où la famille vous accueillera à compter de 13h. Les cendres seront par la suite déposées au cimetière de St-Laurent I.O. McMECHAN, William John - of Belleville, passed away at his residence on Monday, April 28th, 2008, in his 87th year. Son of the late William and Maeme (nee Kells) McMechan. Beloved husband of Mildred (nee Weese) McMechan for the past 60 years. Dear father of Alice Clapp of Belleville; Richard (Debra) McMechan, of Alberta. Mr. McMechan is also survived by sons-in-law, Lloyd Irwin and Rod Clapp; by grandchildren: Sherri Mills; Brian (Kim) Clapp, and Patty (Josh Davidson) Clapp; Lynsey (Craig Byrne) Irwin, and Janet Pregoda, and also by great grandchildren: Katelyn, Tyler, Nicholas, Destiny, Dixon, Liam and Avery. He was predeceased by daughter Marian Irwin, by sister, Margaret Ellis, by nephew Charles Ellis, and by good friend Ed Eby. Mr. McMechan was a Veteran of WW #II, and after returning from active service he remained a Member of the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment for another 14 years. He was a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge, Moira #11. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the STEELE FUNERAL HOME, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira St. W., Belleville (613-968- 2273). Beloved wife and best friend of the late William James Taylor (Bill), loving mother of Joyce Bretzlaff (Don) of Sudbury, Sharon MacKinnon (Bob) of Penetanguishene, David Taylor (Sally) of Sudbury and Laurie Cochrane (David) of Perth, Australia. Loved Grandma Ruth and Nana of Jamie (Lana), Jennifer (Ray), Sarah (Josh), Rebecca (D'Arcy), Stephen, Rob, Andrew and Jennie. Proud great grandmother of Carter, Jordan, Katie, Margot and Amelia. He was strong willed and very independent. He always had a big smile and enjoyed reminiscing about his life with a playful joke. His strong family attributes and kindness will never be forgotten. Marie, Georgina McLennan, Rita Young (husband Raymond), Debbie Harrington (husband Pat), Colleen McLennan all of Sudbury and Joanne of Toronto. Predeceased by parents William and Violet (nee Moore) McLennan and brothers Raymond, Allen (wife Doreen of Espanola) and Kenneth (wife Linda of Sudbury). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by canine buddy Jak. Ronald was a truck driver with Manitoulin Transport until 2005 when a stroke put an end to his second love. His weekly run to B.C. enabled him to see new and different places. When not on the road, Ron enjoyed woodworking, camping, puttering around the house and spending time with family and friends. Soft spoken, always smiling and mischievous by nature, his funny dry sense of humour kept people in stitches. The family wishes to thank the S.R.H. ANCTIL, Irene "Furley" 1938 - 2008 It is with deep sadness the family of Irene Anctil announces her peaceful passing on April 29, 2008 with her family by her side. Irene is survived by her loving family, husband Clem of forty-nine loving years, son Vincent (Nicky) Anctil of Ponoka, daughter Cynthia Lee Anctil (Tom Bek) of Calgary, grandchildren Jordan Metcalf, Jack Hammon as well as her step-grandchildren Mike, Travis, Kyle and Madison. She is also survived by her sister Audrey (Sam) McBurny, cousin Bill (Liz) Gourley and their children of Scotland, Alex and Joan Lockton and children all of Calgary. She has also left to mourn, many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends and beloved goddaughter Tina. Irene loved cowboy life, she loved the music, dancing, singing, riding and most of all the cowboys. Irene was an avid teddy bear lover, her house is filled with the cuddly little creatures, Irene herself was very much like a teddy bear, very caring and soft, not one to judge, she always had an open heart to everyone. SCOTT, Arthur Gordon February 21, 1915 - April 28, 2008 Arthur Scott, beloved husband of Muriel Scott of Calgary, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Arthur was born in Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1939 and served in WWII until 1946, traveling all over the world serving his country. Arthur moved to Sydney, NS and married after the war in 1948. He worked at Colby School for many years as a caretaker and was an active member of the Church of England. Later in life, he and Muriel came west to be near family. No matter where Arthur resided, he always thought of himself as a "Newfoundlander". He was a prolific poet, writing about his early years in Newfoundland and his war experiences. Arthur's great interest was building model sailing boats and gardening. He was also an avid fisherman and had a great love for the outdoors. Besides his loving wife Muriel, Arthur is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Georgina, Jim and Marie, and one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara MacKenzie and Rick Rudolf, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Pearl Martin of Sydney, NS and Dorothy MacNeil of Halifax, NS. TOTH, Connor May 26, 1990 - April 28, 2008 It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the passing of our son, brother and friend Connor Nicholas Toth, beloved son of Deborah Godfrey, on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the age of 17 years. Connor came peacefully into this world on Saturday, May 26, 1990 in Richmond, BC. He was a beautiful boy, loved to snuggle and charmed everyone who held him. At the age of three, Connor, his mom and his sister, moved to Calgary and made it their home. He attended Hawkwood Elementary, Jerry Potts, Senator Patrick Burns Junior High School and William Aberhart High School where he completed grade twelve and will receive his diploma. Connor was active in many charities, canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, participating in the Terry Fox Run, The Snow Express for MS, The CIBC Run for the Cure, to name a few. He was involved in the Scouting program, played hockey in the Crowfoot league for years, even winning the city championship in 2002. He loved to play tennis and his real passion was snowboarding at Sunshine Village. Connor loved so many people, especially his big sister Carolyn. Keeping his memory alive is his mother Deborah Godfrey; his devoted sister Carolyn Toth; his grandma; and aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers and friends from around the world. Connor's spirit is free and will continue to live with all of us every day. The family asks that you take time out of every day to hug someone you love and let them know how much they mean to you. WISKAR, Fredrick Keith August 4, 1935 - April 28, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Wiskar, beloved husband of Joyce Wiskar, on Monday, April 28, 2008. Fred was born in Abbey, Saskatchewan on August 4, 1935 and passed away suddenly at his home in Calgary at the age of 72 years. Joined Investors Syndicate Limited (now Investors Group) in 1957 and excelled as top salesman in Owen Sound and then Region Manager of Toronto Don Mills. HUTCHISON, Margarita - Margarita passed away on April 29th, 2008 after a five-year fight against multiple myeloma. Margarita was born July 22, 1948 and lived in Owen Sound; the longest and most satisfying time of her shortened life. She is survived by her beloved husband William and her children Tiffany of Vancouver, Adam of California and Cassandra and her husband Kevin Irwin of Kitchener. She was the proud grandmother of Ethan, Max and Ryan Irwin of Kitchener. Also survived by her mother Marie Lieknins of Owen Sound and her brother Uldis and his wife Lynda and their children Ellen, David and Christina. Margarita engaged life, full of passion throughout her many endevours. As a graduate of Humber College, her flare for colour in the fashion world was evident in the twelve years that she owned and operated Wray's Ladies Wear. Special thanks to the dedicated souls who run the Oncology Unit in Owen Sound led by Dr. Qawi and her wonderful support team. The personal support and love demonstrated by Dr. Huff will never be forgotten. There were many good times during Margarita's five- year fight against cancer; all due to the efforts of the wonderful health network in the Owen Sound area and the care and knowledge of the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.
