Alonzo Landry (1911-2008) Mise à jour le mardi 08 avril 2008 Par: AP GRANDE-ANSE - À l'Hôpital régional Chaleur de Bathurst, le lundi 7 avril 2008, à l'âge de 96 ans et 11 mois, est décédé Alonzo Landry, époux d'Estelle Hébert, domicilié à Grande-Anse. Il était fils de feu Onésime Landry et de feu Georgina Doucet. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil deux fils: Alonzo Jr (Joyce) de Gambo, Terre-Neuve et Paul-Emile (Lucille) de Grande-Anse; trois filles: Bernadette (Michael Korch) de Toronto, Gisèle (Rodolphe Cormier) et Edith, toutes deux de Grande-Anse, ainsi que dix petits-enfants et cinq arrière-petits-enfants. M. Landry était la dernière personne vivante de sa famille. Un frère, Théotime; un demi-frère, Edmond, ainsi qu'une soeur, Christine, l'ont précédé dans la tombe. La famille recevra parents et amis à compter de 13h, le jeudi 10 avril, au salon LeGresley de Grande-Anse. William "Bill" Mitchell Boyle October 22, 1926 - April 05, 2008 With his loving wife & family by his side, Bill passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Hampton Terrace in Burlington, during his 82nd year. Predeceased by his brothers George, John and Robert. In his professional life, Bill worked as the Territory Sales Manager of Canadian General Electric for 40 years. Although he was happy spending his retirement years applying his unique problem-solving abilities to any task at hand, Bill was most happy when simply surrounded by his grandchildren at the family barbeque. Bill was a “family” man in the truest sense of the word. FOSTER, Fred Roger - peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor, at 73 years of age. Late of Leamington. Loving husband to Carol (DesChamp). Dear father to David and his wife Wendy of Leamington, and a step-daughter Renee Tessier of Woodslee. Cherished grandfather to Abbey and Kayla Foster, and Georgey and Jimmy Koumoutsidis. Also survived by sisters Joy and her husband Norman Mellow of Tilbury, Janice Harris of Wheatley, Donna and her husband Jack Cowell of Chatham, and brothers Allan and his wife Audrey of Wheatley, Earl and his wife Anne of London, and Larry and his wife Ann of Kitchener. Predeceased by sisters Ruth Ann Foster, Marion Quick, and a brother Murray Foster. Fred was a member of the Lancaster Band of Leamington, the Chatham Concert Band, and the Windsor Concert Band. Fred enjoyed playing the organ for many churches in the area, and curbed his sweet- tooth by playing at the Salvation Army in trade for home baked pies. Deepest gratitude to Debbie Fergie, and the entire team at the Renal Dialysis Unit of Hotel Dieu. Thank you to the special angel in the Cardiac Care Unit that dressed as a nurse. GLIONNA, Helen E. (nee Gallardi) - August 29, 1911 to April 5, 2008. Peacefully at Toronto East General Hospital in her 97th year. The beloved wife of the late John Glionna of Toronto. Helen is survived by her sister Marguerite Giardine (Joseph-deceased) of Timmins. She is predeceased by her parents Rosina (nee Amendola) and Agostino Gallardi; three brothers, Jim (Dorothy-surviving), Louis (Anne-deceased) and Lundy (Vivian- surviving); and two sisters, Mary Luxton (Cliff-deceased) and Edith Clark (Hector- deceased). Helen's career included a number of years with Great-West Life Assurance and the Catholic Children's Aid Society. Devoted to her family, she is remembered fondly by her many nieces and nephews. CLARKE, Lloyd Richard With sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and friend. Lloyd was born May 12, 1920 in Drumheller, Alberta and passed away March 19, 2008 in Calgary. Lloyd was raised in the Coronation/Drumheller area and spent most of his adult life in Calgary before retiring to the Shuswap area of B.C. Lloyd returned to Calgary in 2006 to be closer to family. Lloyd leaves behind four loving children: Sharron Clarke of Calgary, Ilene Steele (Peter) of Osoyoos, B.C., Adele Richards (Clayton) of Calgary and Bill Clarke (Teren) of St. Albert; grandchildren: Craig, Kelley, Erin, Barry, Robin, Sean, Shelly, Richard (deceased 1987), Candice, Shannon, Megan, Jess, Joel, Jillian and twelve great-grandchildren. Lloyd is also survived by two sisters: Winnifred Hunter of Drumheller and Gladys Guse of Coronation, as well as numerous other family members and friends. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Elayne in 2000. Lloyd farmed for a few years before enlisting in the Canadian Army during WWII. After training as a Clerk at Mount Royal College, Lloyd was shipped overseas for two years, returning to Canada after the war. Lloyd worked in many facets of Calgary's construction industry until his retirement. Lloyd will be remembered for his love of hunting, waterskiing, curling, snowmobiling and golfing, as well as his sense of humour. ETHERINGTON, Audrey May December 24, 1919 - April 6, 2008 Audrey, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away of pneumonia at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Audrey was a proud native Calgarian who was born on Christmas Eve in 1919. She grew up in Crescent Heights and attended Balmoral and Crescent Heights schools. Audrey met future husband Bob (a member of the RAF) in November 1941 and they were married in August 1943. Bob was sent back to England and Audrey, a war bride, followed in August 1944. They remained in England until March 1948 when they returned to Canada. Audrey helped Bob build their house in Tuxedo Park where they lived for fifty-one years. Later they made a new home at the Huntington Hills Manor where they had many valued friendships. Audrey was a long-time active member of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church and later a member of Good Shepherd Moravian Church. Since 1973, Audrey worked tirelessly for the Canadian Red Cross sharing her talents for crafts and showing her compassion for others. Audrey treasured her friends and loved to entertain. Audrey is survived by daughters Jeanne (John) and Brenda; her grandchildren Jennifer (Joe), Rob (Sheri) and Laurie (Dan); and sisters Kay and Bet (Dick). Audrey was predeceased by her loving husband Bob in July 2007. MAHONEY, Margaret 2008-04-08 Mrs. Margaret Rose (Thatcher) Mahony, age 82 years resident of Thunder Bay passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Pinewood Court. Margaret was born in Windsor, Ontario on November 25, 1925 to Dora and James Martin. While living in Windsor, Margaret met William Thatcher and they were married there. They moved to Fort William after World War 2 and she has lived here since. William predeceased her in 1974. She later married Bill Mahony and he predeceased her in 1996. Margaret was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 Ladies Auxillary and a member of the Ladies of the Moose Fort William Chapter. Margaret loved the outdoors and for many years the family camped at Come By Chance Resort. She is survived by her sons Jim Thatcher and wife Nadia of Thunder Bay, Charles “Martin” Thatcher and wife Kris of Peachland B.C. enroute, daughter Marjorie Thatcher and husband Jamie Buckley of Thunder Bay and grandchildren Matthew Thatcher (Aimee Miles) and Lauren Thatcher (Tyler Reinelt) and Jeannie (Rex) Baldwin, sister Helen Squire (Bob) of Florida, as well, nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. Margaret was predeceased by her first husband William Thatcher, second husband William Mahony, son Thomas, brothers Les, George, Ernie, Jim and William Martin and sisters Mildred and Edie, brother-in-law Ted (Flo) Thatcher. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzhiemers Society would be greatly appreciated.
