NASH, Janet (nee Bennett) At Laurier Manor, Ottawa, on April 6th, 2008 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Wilford (Bill) Nash and dear aunt in loco parentis of Brian Harvey. Predeceased by her parents, George and Isabella Bennett, by sisters Marguerite Harvey, Tina Noble, Lillian Ancliffe, and brothers, Dryden, Johnny, Percy, and Bert. BOADWAY, Klara Louise Tragically struck by a car while riding her bike in Leiden, Holland, on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the age of 24. Beloved daughter of Richard and Hanneke. Loved by her dear brother Cyrus and friend Jessica Flynn. Cherished granddaughter of Dr. John Boadway. Dear niece of Anne and John Boadway and Henk and Nicolette Overbeek. Klara will be missed by many friends in Canada, the Netherlands and Nepal. Klara's dream of becoming a doctor was cut short while studying medicine at the University of Leiden. She will always be remembered for her strength and fierce determination in athletics, displayed in rowing, tennis and biathlon, and especially pursuing her goal of being a doctor. GIGNAC, William Joseph Died on April 4, 2008 at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, following a yearlong battle with bladder cancer. Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Keder of Cupertino, CA; four dogs Bert, Jem, Radar and Glaze; father and mother Robert and Jean (Frett) Gignac of Deerfield, IL; and six sisters, Jeanne of Grand Rapids, MI, Suzanne (Hans Drexler) of Braunschweig, Germany, Lynne of Beacon, NY, Karen (Guy Vuckovic) of Highland Park, IL, Michelle (Richard) Schultz of Palatine, IL, and Jennifer (Christopher) Michel of Stafford, VA. Bill was born in 1956 and grew up in Deerfield, IL where he was 1974 class valedictorian. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Chemistry from UCLA. During his professional career, Bill worked at Hughes Research Laboratories, Spectra Diode Labs, JDS Uniphase, and was most recently CEO of Picarro, Inc. From his career as a scientist and manager to his many hobbies which included dog agility, photography and flying, Bill will be remembered for his dedication, perseverance and willingness to share his expertise. Bill was loved and respected by family, friends and colleagues. His participation in our lives will be sorely missed. Memorial plans are pending. SUTHERLAND, John Charles December 17th, 1924 to April 6th, 2008 RAF WW2 Peacefully at Granite Ridge Specialty Care, surrounded by his family, John Charles Sutherland, loved husband of Alison (Clark), dear father of Penelope and Pamela (Bill), cherished Grandad of Laura and Diana, and Lindsay, Andrew and Jennifer, fond brother-in-law of Christine Clark. Although born in Canada, John received his early education in Edinburgh Scotland, where he joined the RAF in WW2. He came back to Canada and graduated from McMaster University with an Honours BA. John had a distinguished career in the Public Service. After serving 35 years, he retired as Director of Planning, Medical Services, Health Canada, but was called back to serve as Assistant Deputy Minister. John was a charter member of the Amberwood Golf and Country Club, serving on the Executive for several years. He was also a volunteer at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. An avid philatelist, he was a long time member of the RA Stamp Club. Words cannot express our deep gratitude to the staff at Granite Ridge, particularly those in Lake House, for the loving and dedicated care he received. A memorial service in celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Pinecrest Remembrance Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa. Barbara and Marcel retired to Salmon Arm in 1986 and became very involved in the local arts community. Barbara will be remembered for her kindness towards others and her volunteer spirit. She loved gardening, and the natural world around her. Barbara was predeceased by Marcel, in 2004. McDONALD, Lorne Scott February 19, 1962 - April 1, 2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Lorne McDonald announce the passing of our brother. Jan was born on August 5, 1924 in Zaluski Corone, Poland, and served during WWII in Europe. He immigrated to Canada in 1946, and worked for over thirty-one years in the meat industry. Jan is survived by his loving wife of forty-one years, Maria, and sons Derek and Terry, all of Calgary. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Janina Morys of Calgary and Genia Guz of Poland. MURRAY, Margaret Jean (nee Ryan) Margaret Murray, beloved wife of Mr. Robert Murray of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Penticton while visiting family, at the age of 70 years. Marg will be lovingly remembered by her son, Terry Murray of Calgary; daughter, Debbie (Rui) De Campos of Calgary. She was a loving grandmother of: Robert and Jacquelyn Murray, Anthony and Christopher De Campos. Marg is also survived by her brother Ted Ryan of Oliver, BC. Marg was predeceased by her loving husband, her parents, Michael and Hazel Ryan of Broadway, SK and her ten brothers and sisters. Marg was a lifetime member of Girl Guides of Canada. Over the last forty-five years that Marg has been involved in Girl Guides she has made many friends and touched many girls' lives. She will be truly missed. John was born in Aberdeen, Scotland 28 January 1942. Son of the late William and Anna (Castel). John will be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends in the UK and Canada.
