"Just" Anna is Mary and Al's daughter, and Duncan's much-loved sister. TROCEWICZ, Henry - Peacefully, with beloved wife Barbara by his side, Henry passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in his 80th year. Loving father of Wendy (Jim), Marty (Carolyn), Peter (Debbie) and Veronica (Geoff). Special grandfather to Natalie and Rachel. Fondly remembered by his many brothers/sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Lured by the promise of great fishing in Canada, Henry emigrated from Poland in 1955. After a career in Toronto as a production planner, he and Barb purchased and successfully operated the Old Mill Resort on Twelve Mile Lake in Carnarvon. Henry loved to spend time outdoors, fishing for trout and enjoying the quiet beauty of Ontario. His generous nature extended to birds from miles around who stopped at his well- stocked feeders for a free meal. He enjoyed trying to outsmart the squirrels. The excitement of seeing a deer or wild turkey would stay with him for days and he loved sharing these nature stories with family and friends. Through these stories, we will always remember this kind and gentle man. EDWARDS, Joseph Ronald - It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Ronald Edwards, age 82, of Sarnia, announces his passing on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Bluewater Health - Mitton Site. Beloved husband of Beatrice Irene Edwards. Sadly missed by his children Jack, Terry and his wife Norma Jean and Carol Ann Worsley all of Sarnia. A proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #62, Mr. Edwards was employed at Imperial Oil as a pipefitter for many years. Youngest son of the late Minnie Chyz (late John and the late John Kurylo). Much loved brother of Bill Kurylo (Doreen) of St. Davids, Ontario and Eileen Shchepanik (Frank) of Thunder Bay. Special son-in-law to Eunice Hamel (late Ellwood) and fun loving brother-in-law to Sue Hamel-Laford (Bing), Linda Greco (Robert), Mary Bougie, John Hamel (Laurie), Ellwood Hamel, Sandra Frechette (Fred), Lisa Davyes (Steve). Much respected uncle to several nieces and nephews. Don will be sorely missed by his many close friends throughout the hockey and golf circles and many former colleagues who he remained in close contact with. DIMOCK, Lewis Henry DIMOCK, Lewis Henry - 83, Falmouth, Hants Co., passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on June 30, 1924, in Sudbury, Ont., he was the son of the late Victor and Nellie (Davis) Dimock. Lewis was a heavy equipment operator most of his life and had worked for numerous contractors. He was also a long-time farm operator in Hants County. He enjoyed traveling and especially those Sunday drives. Lewis served in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, the former, Minnie Louise Burgess; son, Wayne (Crystal Lunn), Falmouth; brothers, Raymond (Ruby), Wasaga Beach, Ont.; Charles (Elizabeth), Toronto, Ont.; Maurice (Julie), Scotch Village; stepchildren, Bill (Kathy) Livingstone, Calgary, Alta.; Tom (Lynn) Livingstone, Okanagan Valley, B.C.; Debbie (Klaus) Heckersbuch, Greenfield Park, Que.; Janice Girvan, Bridgewater; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Lewis, was predeceased by his twin sisters, Marion Fletcher and Mary Leighton. Cremation has taken place. HOLMES, John Angus HOLMES, John Angus - Passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Lochside "Loch Lomond", he was the son of the late Dan and Katie Effie (MacLeod) Holmes. He was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. At one time he operated a saw mill, was postmaster for Lochside Post Office, a pulp contractor and farmer. Johnnie was a lover of all animals, especially his cat Max. He enjoyed playing and listening to Scottish music. Surviving are his wife, Christy Ann (MacLeod) Holmes, and loving son, Donald John "D.J." Holmes and his companion Nicole Perram, Edmonton, Alta. He is also survived by sister, Kennina (Frank Sheppard); nephew, Brian Sheppard, Whitney Pier; niece, Deborah Sheppard (Mrs. Wayne LeMoine), Halifax, and a number of cousins. KENNEDY, M. Marion KENNEDY, M. Marion - 82, Lornevale, passed away peacefully February 24, 2008, in D.M.P. Nursing Care Ltd., Lornevale, Colchester Co., after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Edward and Blanche (Patton) Brown. She lived in Pugwash, New Germany, Round Hill and Granville Centre as a child. She attended the Truro Normal College and became a teacher. Most of her career was spent teaching in Colchester County and for the city of Dartmouth where she became a devoted school librarian who loved working with volunteers. In 1947, she married Lloyd George Kennedy of Hilden, the community where they spent much of their married life and raised their four children, Jane (formerly married to Daniel Yorke, Bass River); Esther and husband, Dennis Ramsay, Dartmouth; Blanche and husband, Jim Walker, Sussex, N.B.; Robert and wife, Catherine Hsieh, Toronto, Ont. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, Lloyd; brothers, Bill and Harold Brown; sister, Paula. She will be dearly missed by her family including grandchildren, Nathan and Alana Yorke, Erin Ramsay, Meaghan and Joel Walker, and Robbie Lloyd Kennedy. Marion was known to family and friends as a generous benefactor, a pioneer in education and a crusader for human rights. She took a keen interest in environmental issues and had a deep love of nature, photography and bird watching. She contributed articles to various magazines. Some of her pastimes were reading, writing, playing Scrabble, doing cryptoquotes, walking and cooking. Her preferred place to spend her summers was Cape John, so her ashes will be placed there. Two of her favourite sayings were: "Give while your hands are warm" and "Remember who loves you". She was a member of Hilden United Church and later the Universalist Unitarian Church in Halifax. A stone designed by stonemason Heather Lawson will be erected in her memory at Oakhill Cemetery near Annapolis. Special thanks goes to Donna Peck and her staff for all their loving care. She is survived by her husband, Karl; son, Darrell, Dartmouth; daughter, Tracey Verboomen and husband, Jean Louis, Newmarket, Ont.; and "My Little Darling" grandson, Nolan. Heather was predeceased by mother-in-law, Hazel; father-in-law, Joseph (Ed) Smith; sister-in-law, Gladys Brown; brothers-in-law, Gordon "Buddy", Gerald, Kenny, Clyde, and Eric. For the past 19 years, Heather worked for GEM Health at Melville Lodge as the activity director. THOMAS (Dunbar), Cheryl Lynn THOMAS (Dunbar), Cheryl Lynn - 50, White's Lake, passed away February 23, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Margaret (Collier) Dunbar and the late Grant Hall Dunbar. Cheryl enjoyed careers at Via Rail and Nova Scotia Power. She had a deep devotion and love for her family and friends and had a passion for animals, African violets, knitting, jewelry making, and surfing the web. She is survived by her husband, James Hastings; daughter, Melanie Thomas; son, Jordan Thomas; stepdaughter, Heather (Mike) Roach, and stepson, Mitch Hastings; mother, Margaret (Collier) Dunbar; sisters, Debbie (Charles) Anderson and Heather (Perry) Langille, and brother, Grant (Heather) Dunbar; granddaughter, Marie Roach; nephew, Corey Langille; nieces, Danielle and Delisca Dunbar. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Memorial service will be held Thursday, February 28, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Atlantic Funeral Home, Father Lloyd O'Neil officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date. HACKETT, ROSE CARMALITA - The death of Rose Hackett, wife of the late Herbert "Herbie" Hackett, occurred on February 23, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Saint John on June 15, 1923 to the late John and Rose (O'Brien) Butler. Rose was a loving mother and was devoted to her family. She was a life-long member of the Catholic Women's League and Stella Maris Church. Rose is survived by her children, Judy Daigle (Roger), John (Kathy) and Linda Morais (Roland); daughter-in-law, Joyce Hackett; two brothers, Ron (Fran) and Vincent (Dawn); sister, Grace Sharpe (Arnold); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Bill; seven brothers and two sisters. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Stella Maris Church on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 12 noon. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery following the mass. Simard Laurent, Fr. 1920 - 2008 Le frère Laurent Simard, o.p., est retourné vers le Père le 22 février au pavillon Saint-Dominique de Québec à l’âge de 88 ans. Il était le fils de Charles Simard et de Lucienne Poitras, née Huot. Il laisse dans le deuil, son frère Jacques (feu Gemma Poitras); son beau-frère Clément Éthier (feu Julienne Simard); ses neveux et nièces de la famille Simard: Claude, Gilles, Paule, Marie et Anne. Laurent était également le frère de: feu Gilbert (Gertrude Poisson), feu Denise et feu André Simard. Né à Québec en 1919, il fait partie de la première troupe scout à Québec dans les années 1930, puis rejoint les Frères Prêcheurs chez lesquels il fait profession en 1943 et est ordonné prêtre en 1948. Suit un très heureux séjour aux Etats-Unis de 1950 à 1954, ce qui le mènera à des diplômes du Preacher’s Institute de Washington D.C., et de l’Université de Paul en pédagogie. Il enseigne l’éloquence et la communication au Collège dominicain et à l’Université Saint-Paul à Ottawa de très nombreuses années en plus d’assumer diverses responsabilités dans sa communauté : prieur à Ottawa, à Montréal et Québec; sous-prieur, sacristain majeur, sous-maître des étudiants, archiviste, responsable du patrimoine artistique de la province dominicaine. Il est aumônier de réserve des Forces armée de 1962 à 1986. À partir de 1993, il revient en sa ville natale de Québec après son élection comme prieur et passe ses 4 dernières années au pavillon Saint-Dominique de Québec. Ses funérailles auront lieu le mercredi 27 février 2008 à 11h45, en l’église Saint-Dominique de Québec. La dépouille sera exposée au couvent du 175, Grande Allée Ouest, le mardi 26 février de 19h à 21h et le mercredi 27 février de 9h à 11h30. DUNHAM, Lenard George - Passed away suddenly on Thursday February 21st, 2008 at the Brantford General Hospital in his 77th year.
