Alyre Savoie Mise à jour le vendredi 15 février 2008 POINTE-SAPIN - À sa résidence, le mercredi 13 février 2008, à l'âge de 72 ans, est décédé subitement Alyre Savoie, domicilié à Pointe-Sapin. Né à Pointe-Sapin, il était fils de feu Alfred Savoie et de feu Mélina (Bordage) Savoie. Il laisse dans le deuil deux soeurs: Marguerite Meunier (feu Clarence) de Moncton et Christina (Euclide Dugas) d'Iristown; deux frères: Alfred (Florence) de Saint-Jean et Arthur (Lorraine) de Pointe-Sapin; deux belles-soeurs: Laudia et Suzanne de Pointe-Sapin, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Trois frères: Antoine, Yvon et Joseph, l'ont précédé dans la tombe. Avant sa retraite, M. Savoie était pêcheur et il a travaillé pour "Crown Sea Foods". La dépouille mortelle sera exposée à compter de 14h, le vendredi 15 février, à la salle mortuaire de l'église de Pointe-Sapin. Jean Ouellette 1937-2008 À sa résidence, le vendredi 15 février 2008, à l'âge de 70 ans, est décédé Jean Ouellette, époux de Marise Michaud, domicilié à Drummond. Né à Drummond en 1937, il était fils de feu Ludger Ouellette et de feu Sophie Poitras. Avant sa retraite, M. Ouellette était superviseur au ministère des transports du Nouveau-Brunswick. Il était pompier honoraire de la brigade d'incendie de Drummond, dont il était un des membres fondateurs. Il était aussi membre des chevaliers de Colomb, 3e degré, du conseil 6841 de Drummond. Il a siégé au sein du conseil de l'ancien district scolaire 32 pendant environ 25 ans. Outre son épouse Marise, il laisse dans le deuil trois enfants, Denise Heugel (Karl) de Grand Rapids, Michigan, Danny Ouellette (Nikki) de Grand-Sault et Donita Ouellette de Dieppe, trois petits-enfants, Sébastien, Nicolas et Bryce, un arrière-petit-fils, Jacques, deux frères, André (Noëlla) de Drummond et Viateur (Marie-Jeanne) de Saint-André, une soeur, Angéline (feu Claude O. Leclerc) de Grand-Sault, belle-soeur, Rolène Ouellette (feu Gérard) de Grand-Sault, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. Il a été précédé par deux soeurs, Antoinette et Alma, quatre frères, Alexis, Ludger, Benoit et Gérard. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le mardi 19 février à 16h en l'église Saint-Michel de Drummond, et l'inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Le célébrant était le père Pierre Thibodeau, assisté du père Frédéric Poitras. Les porteurs étaient tous membres actifs ou membres honoraires de la brigade d'incendie de Drummond, soient MM. Elmer Walker, Allain Walker, Alain Morin, Réjean Ouellette, Pascal Caron et Gérard Levesque. Un neveu du défunt, Gilles Lebel, portait la casquette et les plaques du pompier tandis que Chef Louis Pelletier a fait la prière au nom des pompiers. Une garde d'honneur était formée par des pompiers des brigades des environs. La direction des funérailles a été confiée à la Maison Funéraire Guy L. O'Regan Ltée. www.oregans.ca

Mary Louise Young Mary Young passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 33 years. Survived by her daughter Margerita; mother Florence Skye; brothers, Neil (Geraldine); Edwin; sister, Ingrid (Collin); common-law partner, Felix Fisher. PERRY ANGUS - With heavy hearts, the family of Angus Perry announces his passing after a short battle with cancer on February 10, 2008. Born on April 16, 1935 in Louisbourg, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, he was one of eleven children born to Sarah Ann (Taylor) and Edward Perry. He moved to Dalhousie in 1954. He worked at the paper mill for 37 years until his retirement. In addition to his wife of 53 years, Theresa (Harquail), he is survived by his children, Sonny (Charlene), Debbie (Tony) Legacy, Cathy (Francis) Degrouchie, Sandra, Gail, Brian, Jamie, Judy (Steven) Dale, Eric (Margot), and Donnie. Angus is also survived by three siblings, Eddie, Stella and Olive, 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Angus was predeceased by his parents, seven siblings, and one grandson. Angus' passion was playing cards, taking his morning walk and enjoying many conversations with his neighbors and friends. Cantankerous by nature, Angus was loved by all the children in his life. The kindness and generosity he showed them all will be forever remembered. By Angus' request, a graveside service will be held later in the year with a reception to celebrate his life for family and friends is to be held at the Charlo Golden Age Club, Saturday February 16th from 2 to 5 pm. Doris Stoyles 1912 - 2008 Doris Stoyles, formerly of Mazerolle Special Care Residence in Dieppe and formerly of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the age of 95. Born in Lower Coverdale, she was the daughter of the late Claude B. and Lillian (Maude) Chisholm. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Moncton. She was a member of O.E.S. Pearl Rebekah # 9 and a life member of the O.E.S. Fidelity # 36, a member of the Pythian Sisters, the Bridgedale Seniors as well as very active with the Annual Seniors Appreciation Supper with the Riverview Lions as well as many other Community Services and Events. She is survived by one son Byron D. Stoyles and his wife June of Portage Vale, NB; one daughter Sandra Lynne Alder and her husband Arnold of Moncton; two sisters, Verna Shutt of Riverview, NB, and Mabel Kendrick of Virginia, U.S.A.; six grandchildren, Shelley Booth (John), Todd Stoyles (Kelly), Ward Angel (Sue), Mark Angel (Donna), Dale Angel and Tari Pyke; ten great-grand children; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Harry W. Stoyles; her daughter, Karlene; grandson, Kurt Angel; and by a sister, Vesta Palmer. At Doris' request there is no visitation at the Funeral Home, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held from the Riverview Funeral Home Chapel, Pine Glen Rd. in the spring. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, in the spring. Alice Fury SACKVILLE, NB - After a lengthy struggle with Cancer, Alice Fury, age 87, passed away peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side. Born in Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Irvine and Alma (Hicks) Tingley. Alice was a member of the Upper Point De Bute Church for many years until its closure, and since has belonged to the Main Street Baptist Church and the Midgic Baptist Church. After graduating from Sackville High School she started her family, which was her lifetime's greatest love. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, and kept busy with many activities within the community, and her door was always open to anyone who ever needed her. Josephine (Joe) M. Picone Josephine (Joe) M. Picone 86, of Moncton and formerly of Hartford, CT, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday February 9, 2008. Born in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Julia (Pandozzi) Loalbo. Joe was a retired registered nurse, nursing practitioner and attended St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church. Joe was a remarkable woman. She was dedicated to her profession; she loved being a nurse and took great pride in her work. She worked as a school nurse practitioner in inner city Hartford until her retirement and her love for the children was evident in all she did. Joe was a veteran of the Korean War, an avid reader and enjoyed every facet of life. Joe will be deeply missed by her daughter, with whom she had a very special relationship. Her grandchildren were the passion of her life, her pride and love for them was unconditional and unending. Joe will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Anne Marie Picone-Ford, with whom she resided; her loving grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessie, Christina, Anthony, Gina, Michael and Lucie; son-in-law, Peter Ford, Moncton; brother, George Loalbo (Rose Marie), Florida; several nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Seaforth ON, Angela was the eldest daughter of John and Biliana Eckert. She pursued a career in teaching, then joined the Sisters of St. Joseph, in London, in 1940. Sister Mary Stephen worked in various schools and ministries throughout southwestern Ontario, Edmonton, AB, and Kelowna, BC. At the end of her active career, she retired to the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph in London. She is survived by her brother Al (Val) in Fort Wayne, IN, and her sisters-in- law, Claire (Seaforth) and Rona (Niagara Falls, ON), and by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Peter F. "Pitre" Lévesque 1929-2008 Au Manoir de Grand-Sault, le vendredi 15 février 2008, à l'âge de 78 ans, est décédé Peter Félix Lévesque, époux de Solange Desjardins, domicilié à Grand-Sault. Né à Saint-Léonard-Parent en 1929, il était fils de feu Félix Lévesque et de feu Bertha LaForge. Avant sa retraite, M. Lévesque a été à l'emploi de l'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments pendant trente ans. Il était membre des chevaliers de Colomb, 3e degré, du conseil 2331 Mgr. Solyme Azzie de Grand-Sault et 4e degré, de l'Assemblée Mgr. C.V. Leclerc. Il a aussi été pompier volontaire de la Brigade d'incendie de Grand-Sault pendant près de 50 ans, dont plusieurs années à titre de secrétaire de la brigade. Il était également un membre très actif du mouvement U.C.T., conseil 854 de Grand-Sault, et ce pendant de nombreuses années. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil quatre filles: Jacqueline (feu Maurice Daigle) de Grand-Sault, Marielle (Bob Goggin) de Fredericton, Jeannine (Maurice Ouellette) de Drummond et Carole de Grand-Sault; un fils, Donald de Fredericton; sept petits-enfants: Pierre, Jean-Maurice, Kristine, Daniel, Justin, Annie et Danielle; deux arrière-petits-enfants, Chloé et Emily; cinq frères: Euclide de Saint-Léonard-Parent, Joël et Roch (Nelda) de Grand-Sault, Bertrand (Patricia) de l'Ontario et Laurier (Gemma) de Grand-Sault; quatre soeurs: Mildred (Lewis Lévesque) de Fredericton, Réjeanne (Guy Godbout) de Saint-André, Huguette (Jacques Beaulieu) de Saint-Bruno, Québec et Marie-Mai (Ronald Bonenfant) de New Denmark, belle-soeur, Thérèse Lévesque (feu Adrien) d'Ottawa, ainsi que des neveux et nièces. Il a été précédé par une fille, Micheline, trois frères: Adrien, Jean-Eudes et Roland; trois soeurs: Yvette Beaulieu, Claire Lévesque et Thérèse Durepos. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le lundi 18 février à 14h en l'église de l'Assomption de Grand-Sault, et l'inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Le célébrant était le père William Rice, assisté des pères Lucien Lévesque et Frédéric Poitras. Les porteurs étaient Adrien Gagnon et Roméo Lafrance du mouvement U.C.T., Raymond Ouellette et Paul Godbout des chevaliers de Colomb, Yvon Pelletier et Ricky Albert du service d'incendie de Grand-Sault. Le fidèle commandant était Paul-Emile Dubé, le porteur du chapeau et de l'épée du chevalier était Robert Ouellette tandis que Martin Bérubé et Jacques Cyr portaient les drapeaux des chevaliers. Une garde d'honneur était formée par des chevaliers de Colomb et des pompiers des bridages des environs. La casquette et les plaques du pompier étaient portées par le chef Charlie Kavanaugh et la prière au nom des pompiers a été faite par Hubert Morin, prévôt régional des incendies. CLARKE, Frances 1914 - 2008 Frances Clarke passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on February 12 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice in 2006. Frances was born in Baivert, New Brunswick in 1914 and moved to Nova Scotia where she and her family survived the Halifax Explosion in 1917 and then moved to Windsor, Ontario where she resided until her marriage. Fran and Maurice were married in 1941 and a few years later became one of the original settlers in the Winston Heights community in northeast Calgary. Frances is survived by her son Fred Clarke (Linda) and daughter Julie Meisser (Tino). She was very proud of her grandchildren Carri Clarke (Reid Brodylo), Lorri Sparkes (Brad), Andre Meisser and Justin Meisser. She also took great pride in her great-grandchildren Finlay, Jolie and Cooper Brodylo and Sam, Ryan and Quinn Sparkes. She is also survived by sisters Betty Martin of St. Marys, Ontario, Dorothy Long and Joan Dutchuk of Windsor, Ontario, and special niece Judy Newcombe and cousin Bette Seright both from Calgary. At the time of her death, Frances was a resident of Cedars Villa Nursing Home. The family would like to thank her caregivers on the Poplar Unit for their kindness during her time there. COWIE, Vera Jean (McArthur) (McEachern) 1929 - 2008 Vera Jean Cowie passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on February 7, 2008 at the age of 78 years. Vera was born at Hinton Trail, Alberta in 1929 to parents Hugh and Ellen McArthur. She is survived by her sister Edith Burke of High River; special niece Donna Tanner; niece Susan Rupertus; nephews Dennis Hicklin, Doug, Robert, Donald, Kevin and Michael McArthur; numerous great-nieces, nephews, one great-great-nephew as well as her sister-in-law Lorraine McArthur and her many friends. Vera was predeceased by her father in 1930 and her mother in 1968, stepfather in 1973, her three brothers Lloyd, Jack and Don McArthur as well as her nephew David McArthur. Vera came to High River in 1944 with her parents and finished her education there. She worked for awhile in High River then went to Calgary where she worked for Domtar for thirty-two years before retiring. FARANO, Elsie K. January 25, 1916 - February 11, 2008 Our Mom, Nana, and sister passed away peacefully with Grace and Dignity, surrounded by her family at the Southwood Hospice at the age of 92. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Sandra (Ron) Gerlitz, Vicki (Peter) McAskile and Candi (Jeff) Staples. "Nana" to her grandchildren Brent Gerlitz, Brandi (Michael) Lowry and Samantha (Pat) Wiebe; great-grandchildren, Breanne Gerlitz, Alex Gerlitz and Matthew Lowry; brother Derry (Norma) MacFarlane; sisters-in-law Bessie MacFarlane and Dorothy MacFarlane; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, five brothers, three sisters and her first husband Vic Aiello. Elsie was born in Superb, Saskatchewan and moved to Coronation, Alberta when she was two years old. The family moved to Calgary in 1931 where she has resided since. Elsie was an outstanding athlete and was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame for her accomplishments as a basketball player; known as "Toots" who set a world record scoring in her 166th consecutive game, scoring ten points for the Calgary Buffalos, to win the Canadian Championship in 1939. Elsie also played honky tonk piano and the organ like nobody else and was dynamite on the dance floor. GILLESPIE, Alexander David November 17, 1919 - February 11, 2008 Alec passed away peacefully at his home on February 11 at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ethel Grace in October of 2007. He is survived by his three sons, Brian (Judy), Stewart (Susan), and Stephen (Linda). He will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dad was a veteran of WWII, where he was a member of the Royal Air Force, flying on the bombers as a Flight Engineer. After being shot down and surviving the POW camps for two years, he immigrated to Canada and settled in Calgary. His love of the military led him to join the RCASC, where he spent many enjoyable years amongst the camaraderie of fellow veterans. By family request there will be no Funeral Service held. George (Bud) A. Bycroft, After a short illness with lung cancer, Bud Bycroft of Charlton died at the Englehart and District Hospital on February 9, 2008. He was born in Brockville on October 21, 1942 to George Bycroft and Catherine Margaret Thorpe Bycroft. Educated in Brockville, he moved to Northern Ontario in 1989 and married Lorrainne (Lorrie) McLean in New Liskeard on September 20, 2002. Mr. Bycroft was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver and was the owner/operator of a trucking company. He loved four-wheeling with his wife and his old black dog Mack, as well as fishing and raising Belgian horses. Mr. Bycroft is survived by his wife Lorrie; stepdaughters Catherine and Lorrie Vinkle; sons Mike and Vashti McDaniel, son Todd, son Michael, and daughter Michelle and Andy Bos; eight grandchildren; sisters Barbara (Keith Ackerman) and Phillis (Bob Beale); brother Richard (and Salli) Bycroft; mother- and father-in-law Howie and Lucy McLean; brother-in-law Jim (and Wendy) McLean. He was predeceased by his stepson Corey and parents George and Maggie. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart. Cremation has taken place. ROSENTHAL, Malcolm Adams 'Mac' Wing Commander RCAF, ret. On February 12th, 2008 in hospital in Perth in his 96th year. Most lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Audrey. Cherished father of Betty (Norman) of Forest, Ontario and Douglas (Carole) of Kanata. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Susan (Stacey) and Douglas (Rebecca) of Sarnia, Mark (Jennifer ) of Milton, Ontario, Neil (Tara) and Lynne of Ottawa and 4 great-grandchildren.
