Il laisse également ses petits-enfants et arrière-petits-enfants; son frère : Ronald (Bérangère); ainsi que ses cousins, cousines, neveux et nièces, autres parents et amis. A highly successful Queen's grad (mechanical engineering), Jim travelled the four corners of the world as a consultant for Alcan. His greatest passion remained his family, for whom he was a constant inspiration and role model. His sense of fun was enjoyed by all. GREER, Florence Elizabeth - Passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008. Daughter of the late Edward and Beulah O'Donnell (MacGillis). She was predeceased by her son Thomas in 1982 and her husband Raymond in 2003. Survived by her four daughters: Mary (Don) Hanson of Winnipeg, MB, Barbara (Olavi) Jarvela, Patricia (John) Ambrose, Sister Alice Greer (Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie), all of Thunder Bay, ON; three sons: William (Jayne) of Bradford, ON, Donnell of Vancouver, BC, Kelly (Marcela) of Thunder Bay, ON: fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. BROWN, Gordon Arthur - passed away peacefully on January 24, 2008 at Mississauga Trillium Hospital in his 84th year after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Stirtzinger) of 57 years and four daughters, Cathy at home, Nancy Hopps of Bowmanville, Marnie (Bill) Brough, Janice (John) Shydlowsky of Mississauga. Loving Grandpa and Papa to Ryan, Tyler, Cory, Michael, Adam, Lindsay and Jeffrey. His is also survived by his brother Jim of Beamsville and sister Marjorie of Tonawanda, New York, several sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. Gord worked for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communication for 33 1/3 years (he always said) working out of the offices of Winona, Hamilton, Bancroft and Downsview. He retired in 1987. He took great pleasure in his many hobbies, especially the restoration of his classic cars and spending precious time with his family. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses and his extended health team at Mississauga Trillium who took great care of him during his illness. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 28 at 1 p.m. followed by a chapel service and reception at the Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line (at Dundas), Oakville. RIDLEY, Dr. Marlene (Mardi) Formerly Bird, (nee Goodenough) - Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, with family by her side at age 55. Beloved daughter of the late Doris Isabelle Goodenough and the late Raymond Mantell Goodenough, Marlene is survived by her loving husband Ned. Sister to treasured brother Bruce (Anne). Marlene is predeceased by her much loved and warmly remembered brother Glenn (Lillian), her in- laws Margot and Wilfred Ridley, and many aunts and uncles. Stepmother to Sonja Ridley. Marlene will be missed by her sisters-and-brothers-in-law: Lillian Goodenough (Martin); Brenda Goodenough; Stephen, John (Wendy), and Phil (Ahne) Ridley; and Jill (Neil) Shorthouse. An adoring aunt to her nieces and nephews: Taylor, Dana, Adam, Andy, Andrew, David and Sara Goodenough; Julia, Christian, Sean and Flynn Ridley; and Will and Joshua Shorthouse. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends and cousins. Dr. Ridley (PhD, C. Psych.) was highly dedicated and skilled in her work with children and families. She was an avid wilderness canoe tripper, and also enjoyed snow shoeing, lawn bowling, soapstone carving, silver jewelry making, painting, sketching, story and play writing for her Sunday School class, anthem writing, and hymn writing for her choir. JANSSEN, Dr. Henry Peter - Suddenly on Tuesday January 22, 2008 in his 58th year. Beloved husband of 27 years of Lynn, loving father of Rebecca and David. He will be sadly missed by siblings Tom and Donna Janssen, Grace and Joe Stokman, Joyce Economopoulos-Janssen, Marianne and Jim Gashi, Herman and Heather Janssen, Jean Janssen and Denise Parent and sisters-in- law Yvonne Janssen and Sharon Janssen, parents-in-law Anton and Barbara Wittmer, brother-in-law Wayne(and Elizabeth) Wittmer, sister-in-law Janet Pelletier. Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Henry was pre-deceased by his parents, Herman and Jean Janssen and brothers Frank and Hans. Henry graduated from medical school at the University of Western Ontario in 1978 and completed his internship at Scarborough General Hospital in 1979, where he and Lynn met. He then worked 10 years in Linton North Dakota before coming home to Woodstock in 1989 where he had a family practice for 14 years. Henry and Lynn moved to the Lion's Head area in 2003 where he enjoyed working at both medical clinics in Lion's Head and Tobermory and at the hospital in Lion's Head. Henry thoroughly enjoyed the hiking, boating and rock landscaping that their new home provided them. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and patients. A celebration of Henry's life will take place in Owen Sound in May. Announcement to follow in this publication regarding the exact date and location. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a convenor of the Canadian Cancer Society. CARDO, Father John Joseph O.M.I. Father John was born in Ottawa, Ontario, the eldest son of Thomas Cardo and Kathleen Rooney. He died in Vancouver on Wednesday January 23rd, 2008. He was in his 75th year. Survived by his sister Patricia Cardo and brothers Bill (Lucy), Jim (Elke), as well as many nieces and nephews. After graduating from St. Patrick's College, he joined the Oblates and studied at Holy Rosary Scholasticate; ordained on June 14th, 1959. He taught at St. Patrick's for a short time. Father John's first mission was in Sault Ste. Marie, followed by stays in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta; from there he served in Prince Rupert, Prince George, Kitimat and Duncan, British Colulmbia. He spent 17 years serving in Duncan on Vancouver Island. Father John then travelled to Vancouver and resided at Pandosy Place in his retirement years, with his many friends. He assisted at St. Augustine's Parish whenever the need arose, which was quite frequently. Father John's daily visits to the local school to visit the children, where he was loved dearly, was his favourite past time. He was a dedicated and fully committed priest. DORE, Jeannine G. (nee Boyer) Of Chesterton, Indiana. Jeannine passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus at the age of 77 years. Jeannine was born on July 17, 1930 in Vankleek Hill, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Andre and Albertha (Richer) Boyer, both of whom preceded her in death. In Toronto, Canada, on October 8, 1951, she married Roger Dore Sr., who preceded her in death on April 8, 2001. She is survived by her sons Andre L. (Linda) Dore and Michael G. Dore, both of Valparaiso, Luke G. Dore and Roger J. Dore Jr. both of Chesterton; brothers Rolland (Paulette) Boyer of Chesterton, Maurice (Adrenne) Boyer, Jean-Paul (Terese) Boyer, Laurier (Ramone) Boyer, all of Canada; sisters-in-law Teresa and Suzanne Boyer of Canada; grandchildren Michelle Dore, Stephanie (Jason) Nichols, Taylor Dore, Kevin Dore, Edward Dore and Danielle Dore and two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Marie Jeannine Dore and brothers Jacques-Bernard Boyer and Guy Boyer. Jeannine was a homemaker, member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Women of the Moose Lodge 1623 former officer. She loved bowling, horseshoes, sewing (she was a seamstress) and was a good devoted mother and friend to all. A funeral service, Fr. She is predeceased by her lifelong love and husband of 61 years Everett and son Ken (Lu). Norman Willard McLaren of The Arnprior Villa and a longtime resident of Sandy Beach at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of the late Ellenor (Nee Robinson). CHRISTOPHERSEN, Bente 1944 - 2008 Bente Christophersen of Vancouver, BC passed away peacefully in the morning of January 19, 2008. Bente was born in Hobro, Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1970. Bente will always be remembered for her warmth, spirituality and ability to make everyone smile. Bente will be greatly missed by her family and friends in Denmark, including her mother Ruth, sister Tine, brother Niels, son Esper and his family of Conny and Bente's wonderful grandson, Arthur. Bente will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Charlotte of Calgary, Alberta and her many dear friends throughout the lower mainland. Bente especially touched and was touched by those in group and the others she met along her path of spirituality. Although, diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February 2007, she never stopped smiling and always brought a special energy to those around her. We would like to extend a large thank you to her family doctor, Dr. Donlevy, the community hospice care team and the staff of Marion Hospice who have all helped her journey to remain peaceful. CROTEAU, Raymond Philip May 3, 1929 - January 23, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Croteau of Red Deer and Edmonton on Tuesday, January 23, 2008. Ray is lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Anne (nee Savich); sons Philip and Kenneth (Genny); daughters Deborah (Bryan) Klingzahn and Colette Marchand; six grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, Kahli, Nathan, Charlotte and Adam and first great-grandchild, soon to arrive. Raymond also leaves one sister, Mary Pagee (Keith) of Thunder Bay, ON, his predeceased sister Yvonne Wisneski of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ray will be remembered for his love for his family and brought to them his passion for photography, the outdoors (sailing especially) and woodworking. As "Jack of all trades" he enjoyed home projects and "giving it a go" with his boys. We remember him with fondness as "Sailor Ray, Skippy Ray, Bumpa, and Papa Smurf". He was dedicated to his faith and involved in the Knights of Columbus. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Thomas Moore Parish at 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton, AB, T6R 2P3 on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Ray will be laid to rest at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Edmonton. McDONALD, Jim May 16, 1962 - January 16, 2008 Jim McDonald passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. The Calgary Street Talk vendor was a familiar face throughout downtown Calgary, particularly in front of Bankers Hall on Stephen Avenue. He was fondly remembered at a Memorial Service on Wednesday, January 23, by his many friends, customers and staff of CUPS Community Health Centre. The Service was held in the Chapel of Central United Church on 7 Avenue S.W. The Memorial Service was conducted by Rev. Keith Loewen of CUPS Community Health Centre. A Funeral Service will be conducted in Grand Falls - Windsor, Nfld., on Monday, January 28. Jim had sold Calgary Street Talk, a monthly street newspaper sponsored by CUPS Community Health Centre, since the paper was first published in 1997 and had sold other street newspapers before that time. A tribute to Jim McDonald will be published in the February edition of Calgary Street Talk. Jim was predeceased by his mother, Rose; father, Vince; and three brothers: Vince, Gerry and Dennis. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Amanda Johnston; six sisters: Effie, Janet, Doreen, Barb, Louise and Cathy, and six brothers: Tony, John, Dave, Ray, Glen and Paul. STASTNY, Sally (Cecilia) May 31, 1925 - January 24, 2008 Our Draha Maminka and Baba passed away suddenly at home at the young age of 82. She was predeceased by her daughter, Jarushka (Jannet Olga), her husband Joseph, her son-in-law John Coldham, and her brother Simeon Popadinec. Sally was born in Nezni Seleste, Ukraine, on May 31, 1925, the eldest of George and Anna Popadinec's four children. She left home as a young girl, determined to find work in the Czech Republic, where she met and married her beloved Joseph. In 1949, they immigrated to Canada with their daughters Marta and Jarushka, where Sally was reunited with her father in Nacmine, AB. Their daughters Margaret and Eva were born in Drumheller. Joe and Sally owned a cafe and later a corner grocery store in Nacmine. Upon Joe's death in 1983, Sally ran the business independently. She was fondly known as "Sally from the Valley", and was loved by all who knew her. In 1992, she retired and moved to her Okotoks condominium where she made many new friends with her cheerful, outgoing personality, and generous heart. Sally dedicated herself to her family and possessed a strong work ethic, an infectious sense of humour, an indomitable spirit, and an unwavering sense of faith that sustained her through many hardships. She was an avid wrestling fan and took delight in weekly gin rummy games with her family. Her adventurous spirit led to pilgrimages to the old country, a Mexican holiday, and jaunts to Las Vegas and local casinos. Her passing was sudden and far too soon, and she is missed beyond belief. She is survived by her daughters Marta (Alan), Margaret (Steve), Eva, and her granddaughter Rachel (Kirk), grandson Jordan (Amy), and sisters Irinka and Nadezda of Nezni Seleste. She has forever enriched our lives, and her spirit will be with us always. Prayers will be held at St. James Catholic Church (338040 - 32 Street East, Okotoks), Monday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m., with luncheon to follow.
