Helen Deighton (nee Webber) formerly of Chamberlain St., Pembroke, wife of the late Arthur Deighton. Dear mother of Hartley (wife Patricia), Lindsay; Keith, Kawartha Lakes; and Leonard (wife Maureen), Pembroke. Gramma to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Roy and Lyla Webber (nee Dupuis). Sister of the late Vernon Webber, Bernard Webber and Doris Maves. Survived by many nieces and nephews. FISHER, Lenore Ailene - At John Joseph Place in Owen Sound Tuesday afternoon January 22, 2008. Lenore Fisher (nee Radbourne) of Owen Sound. Surviving are her husband Dr. Harry K. Fisher of Owen Sound, daughters Kathryn and her husband Alistair Crocker of Toronto, and Janet and her husband Darren Mitchell of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Donna Steinacher and her husband Fred of Owen Sound and their family. She was predeceased by her parents Percy and Ethel Radbourne of Shallow Lake. Mrs. Fisher was a graduate of the Stratford Normal School. She began her teaching career at Dufferin Public School in Owen Sound. Following her marriage she was a gifted teacher of gifted children at Saranac Public School in North York. Before the onset of her cruel disease she was an accomplished pianist, artist, craft person and gardener, activities that she enjoyed and shared while a resident of Huntsville, Welland, Don Mills, London and Stratford. Cremation with a family graveside service at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. PLOURDE, MATTY J. - Has passed away at the Veteran's unit of the Campbellton Regional Hospital on January 24, 2008 at the age of 92, Mr. Matty J. Plourde, husband of Hermina Johnson. Born in Val D'Amour on September 3, 1915, he was the son of the late Joseph Plourde of Miguasha, QC and the late Delina Albert of Grand-Anse, NB. Veteran of the Second World War from 1941 to 1945, he served in the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment in England, Algeria, Italy, France and Belgium. He was a self-employed businessman and was also an employee of Esso Imperial Oil for a period of 37 years. He loved several sports such as cross-country skiing, fishing, tennis and bowling. He was a member of several non-profit and community organizations such as the Knight of Columbus and the Canadian Legion. He leaves to mourn his wife, Hermina Johnson; two daughters, Lilianne and Judith (Nick Fraser); two sons, Donald (Jacynthe Boudreau) and Mike; one sister-in-law, Winnie LeBlanc; as well as three grandchildren, Natacha, Nicholas and Frédéric; and a great-grandchild, Kayla Taylor. Predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Ernest and Léonard; as well as six sisters, Stella, Germaine cnd, Velma cnd, Esther cnd, Marie and Bertha fma. The remains will rest at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, Sunday, January 27th from 2pm to 4pm, 7pm to 9pm and Monday from 12:00 pm until time of funeral. PAGE, Ronald - 1918 - 2008. Passed away peacefully with family members at his side at North Bay General Hospital on Monday, January 21, 2008, at the age of 89. Born in England on July 28, 1918, he started work in the legal field as an office boy at age 15. In 1937, he joined the Territorial Army, and was involved in gunnery and tank training exercises with the Royal Tank Corps on a part-time basis until being called into full-time service with the Yorkshire East Riding Yeomanry on September 1st, 1939. While involved in rearguard action in Belgium during the Dunkirk evacuation effort, he was taken prisoner. He spent the rest of the war in labour camps at several locations in eastern Poland until January 14th when he became part of a group of POW's who were forced to march approximately 850 miles back into southern Germany. They found freedom when they encountered Allied troops on April 25th, 1945. Following his release from the army in January 1946, he returned to work in a law office once again. In 1958, Ron and his family moved to Canada, taking up residence in Chatham, ON. Until his retirement in 1983, Ron worked for several years as a law clerk for a law firm in Chatham and spent the balance of his career in the court system as Supreme Court Registrar for Kent Country. In 1999, Ron and his wife Mabel moved from Chatham to North Bay, where they had vacationed many times over the years. He kept himself busy with his artwork, bought himself a computer and learned how to use it at the age of 82, and enjoyed cooking. Predeceased by his wife Mabel in 2000. He is survived by his son, Gerry (Colette) in North Bay, and will be missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Suzanne Hanlon (Bob) from Thunder Bay, Rachelle McKinnon (John) from Mississauga, Chris (Chrissy) in North Bay, great-grandchildren, Jessica, Carlie, Alissa and Greg from Thunder Bay and John Jr., Matthew and Maddison form Mississauga. Respecting Ron's wishes, a formal funeral ceremony was not held, and arrangements for his cremation were carried out by HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES. The family will gather together in the spring at Forest Lawn Cemetery for a remembrance service prior to interment. MacDONNELL, Hamlin (Hammy) Lorne April 7, 1963 - January 23, 2008 Hamlin (Hammy) Lorne MacDonnell, beloved husband of Lucy Davis of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the age of 44 years. Hammy was born on April 7, 1963 in Springdale, NF and was raised in Miramichi, NB. He has worked throughout the world as a mining engineer. In 2000 he moved to Calgary where he met Lucy and they built a life together. Although Calgary was home, Hammy continued to work abroad. Besides his loving wife Lucy Davis, Hammy is survived by Lucy's sons, William of Toronto, ON and Brian of Calgary, AB; father Angus MacDonnell of Miramichi, NB; brothers, Audie MacDonnell, Troy and Ann MacDonnell; sister Cheyenne Poirier; two nephews, Patrick and Cole; and a niece Jessica. He was predeceased by his mother Ethyle MacDonnell; and brother Ricky MacDonnell. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008 in Miramichi, NB. STEFANCSISC, Albert (Senior) Born June 6, 1932 in Kassel, Germany, passed away peacefully after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, at the Hawkesbury General Hospital on Friday, January 25, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Eija-Liisa. Dear father of Albert (Jr.) (Marie Gagnon), John (Louise Theoret) and Carita (Sylvain Wilson). Loving grandfather of Sophie, Andrea, Melanie and Patricia. Initially he arrived in Montreal, Quebec in 1954 as a tailor, to start a new life. He met his wife, our mother, and settled in Lachute, Quebec for many years. CROTEAU, Raymond Philip May 3, 1929 - January 23, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Raymond Croteau of Red Deer and Edmonton on Tuesday, January 23, 2008. Ray is lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Anne (nee Savich); sons Philip and Kenneth (Genny); daughters Deborah (Bryan) Klingzahn and Colette Marchand; six grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, Kahli, Nathan, Charlotte and Adam and first great-grandchild, soon to arrive. Raymond also leaves one sister, Mary Pagee (Keith) of Thunder Bay, ON, his predeceased sister Yvonne Wisneski of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ray will be remembered for his love for his family and brought to them his passion for photography, the outdoors (sailing especially) and woodworking. As "Jack of all trades" he enjoyed home projects and "giving it a go" with his boys. We remember him with fondness as "Sailor Ray, Skippy Ray, Bumpa, and Papa Smurf". He was dedicated to his faith and involved in the Knights of Columbus. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Thomas Moore Parish at 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton, AB, T6R 2P3 on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Ray will be laid to rest at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Edmonton.
