MAHAFFY, Susan Anne - (July 15, 1957 - January 1, 2008). It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Susan Mahaffy of St. Catharines with her family by her side at Hotel Dieu Shaver. She was in her 51st year. Sue fought a long hard battle with breast cancer and was so determined to get well that she had a hard time giving in. She will be greatly missed by her father Gord Cummins, sisters Betty Mallery and Pat Forsey and their families. She will also be dearly missed by her many friends including Niagara Hog Chapter, Chrome Divas, Mom Wow and everyone at Lidkea Stob Venema & Assoc. Susan's family would like to say an extra special thank you to her good friends Valerie Burton and Gladys Reed for their many months of help and support that they so willingly gave to Susan. At Susan's request cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of her life which will be held at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens Chapel (Hwy 20 at Hwy 406) on Friday January 18th at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest on Saturday January 19th at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Lawn Cemetery in Oshawa alongside her mother. ROBINSON, Millard (Rob) Spencer - Passed away on December 24, 2007 in his birth city of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Born in 1925 to Benjamin Millard and Eleanor Robinson. They moved to Thorold when Rob was three, where he grew up and attended local schools. Rob enlisted in the RCAF to serve his country during World War II and became a Wireless Air Gunner. At war's end he received his honorable discharge and returned to Thorold. In 1947 he married Jean Anderson at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Rob & Jean moved to Niagara Falls, N.Y. in 1950 where Rob worked for Moore Business Forms until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and doing home projects and was an avid animal lover. He was always willing to help friends, neighbours and those in need. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 60 years and daughters Shelley (James) Pike of Colorado Springs, CO., Cindy Robinson, and Jean (David) Harris, both of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Born in Taipei, Formosa (Taiwan) in 1920 to medical missionary parents, raised in Parry Sound, Ontario. Veteran of Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (Wrens) during the Second World War, and graduate of Queen's University. Resided in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Vancouver, Timmins, Pointe Claire, Thornhill and Ottawa. High school teacher in Timmins and Beaconsfield QC. She will be missed by sisters Anna and Bea, brothers Andrew and Sills, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was an avid reader and a very creative person whose interests included painting, photography, music, dressmaking, knitting and needlework. Her greatest interest was her family. GUSOLA, Lily 2008-01-11 Lily Andrena Maria Gusola, infant daughter of Fred and Marie (nee Chiodo) Gusola, entered into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 6, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Lily was born on December 29, 2007 and brought so much love and joy to so many people in the short time that she had with us. She was truly a gift from God and her parents feel blessed to have had her in their lives. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her parents Marie and Fred, grandparents Victor and Rena Chiodo and Nicolina Gusola, great grandmother Maria Chiodo, aunts and uncles: Sue Gusola (Gib Robinson), Dan and Roxanne Gusola, Tino and Tara Gusola, Joe and Kathy Chiodo and Liane Chiodo; as well as by numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins and other relatives. Predeceased by her grandfather Aldo Gusola and great grandparents Lily and Alfonso Alessandro. FRAPPIER, Laura 2008-01-11 Mrs. Laura Frappier, age 80 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully, with her daughter by her side, at St. Joseph‘s Hospice Unit on January 10, 2008. She was born on April 22, 1927 in Angeliers, Quebec. In 1950 she married Sgt. Gerard Frappier, an Air Force pilot. After his death in 1965, Laura moved to Fort William to be closer to her sister, Mary. Laura was an avid bingo player and felt it was her job to stay at home and keep the “Soap Stars” employed. She also supported many charities through her passion for scratch tickets and through her generous donations. Laura is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Frappier (Thunder Bay, ON), granddaughter Holly Cormier (Steve) (Sault Ste. Marie, ON, enroute), great-granddaughter Rhea Cormier, her son, Richard Frappier (Louise) (Ottawa, ON), grandsons Phillip and Robert Frappier, sister Myra Mammolette (Hamilton, ON), brother Lloyd King (Methuen, MA), many nieces and nephews and her best-friend and loyal companion, Missy. Predeceased by her husband, Gerry, her parents, Alice and Thomas King, her sisters, Hilda St. Denis, Florence Melanson, Beatrice King, Nora Simpson, Lina Jones and Mary Brassard and her brothers Thomas and Robert King. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Kitchitwa Kateri Church, 451 Syndicate Ave. N., with Father L. Kroker officiating. COTE, Frank James - In loving memory of Frank James Cote, 48 years, who passed away January 9th, 2008 in Kenora, Ontario. Cherished son of Donald and Anne Cote of Garson. Frank loved his family and was a dedicated truck driver employed for 10 years at Manitoulin Transport. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting with his father and custom cars - being a regular at cruise night. Though Frank was a quiet man, he was known as a loyal Montreal Canadiens fan. He also enjoyed football, car racing and attending Toronto Blue Jay games with his sister. Frank was a dedicated and baptized Jehovah's Witness since 1989.
