SPOON, Danielle 2008-01-10 Danielle Rose Spoon of Fort Frances, Ontario passed away suddenly in Thunder Bay, Ontario in the early hours of Monday, January 7, 2008. Dan Rose was born and raised in the Fort Frances area and was well known for her drive in sports, academic abilities and her beautiful smiles and laughs. Danielle could turn any situation into a moment worth remembering. If you were a friend of hers, you were there for life. Dan Rose enjoyed writing poetry, singing, going out clubbin’ and spending hours "gettin did up." She also enjoyed the moments with her children, her mom, step-dad and her little sisters. Talking, laughing, joking or just hanging out, these are moments we can all remember. Anyone who knew Dan Rose knew what she was like, she loved life and everyday she was here, was a gift from the Creator. It’s tragic to lose someone we all love so much. It’s going to be hard to let her go but Danielle Rose would not want us to grieve forever and not move on. She would want us to let her rest and learn from this. Danielle wouldn’t want this to happen to her friends and family again. She wouldn’t want this for anyone else. If you knew Dan Rose, please remember her smiles and laughs and every moment we shared with her. RIVARD, Raymond L. "Ray" Peacefully following a brief battle with cancer, in Perth on Wednesday, January 9th, 2008, Ray Rivard at the age of 59 years. Cherished husband of Dr. Kathy Wickens, formerly of Shawville. Loved and respected father of Ashley Finnigan (Cory Orr) of Smiths Falls and Kayla Rivard of Perth and grandfather of Carter and Mallory Orr. Ray will be sadly missed by his mother Lucille Rivard of Sudbury, sisters Georgette Rivard (Roger Bertrand) and Lori Rivard of Sudbury, Barbara Rivard of Kingston and brother Ron (Marilyn) Rivard of Perth and many friends and family. He was predeceased by his father Hormidas Rivard and sister Linda Rivard. Ray spent many years of his life in the electronics industry and more recently was actively involved in the environmental field. REISER, Glenda, M.D. After a long illness on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the age of 52. Beloved daughter of Ruth and Carl (Ted) Reiser. Cherished sister of Greg (Dianne) and Susan (Ron Sarich). Loving aunt of Renae Reiser and Nikki Sarich. Dear niece of Betty (Walter Kale). Glenda was an Olympic Athlete and a teenage middle-distance running sensation, setting the Canadian open record of 4:06.71 for 1,500 metres while competing in the 1972 Olympics in Munich. She won three national titles at this distance and won the gold medal at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in New Zealand. She was inducted into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame in 1988. She gave up her running to pursue her other passion, a career in medicine so that she could help others. O'NEIL, Aline Agnes nee Gravelle Our wonderful Mom passed away peacefully at the Montfort Hospital on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in her 92nd year. Mom always placed her family first and loved us deeply. Special memories will be forever cherished by her daughter Barbara Jette and husband Maurice, their family Cheryl, her husband Gordon Wilson and Brianna, and Michael, his wife Cecilia; her son Wayne and wife Odette (Ethier), their family Kelly Smirlies, her husband Peter and their children Rylan and Kelsi, and Shane and his children Kian and Tyler; her son Brian, his wife Aleta (Hoogendam) and their sons Mark, Patrick and Jonathan; and her grandson Nicholas and his children Nicholas and Abby. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick and her youngest son Derek. She will be greatly missed by her sister Irene Kaluski and brother Edmond Gravelle as well as her special friend Lucille Deziel and many nieces and nephews. DUNN, ALICE CLAIRE (BEST) The passing of Alice Claire (Best) Dunn, wife of John E. Dunn, of Island View, NB, occurred on January 9, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 25, 1936 in Crapaud, PE, she was a daughter of Wanda (Gamble) Best and the late Kenneth Best. Claire was a Secretary for the RCMP and Executive Secretary at the National Research Council in Ottawa. Claire is survived by one son, Shawn (Kirsten) of New Zealand; one daughter, Kenda Dunn of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Shenna and Nissa; one sister, Gloria Greenlaw (Dale) of St. Stephen, NB and several nieces and nephews. There will be no services by request of the family. Interment will take place at Westmorland Baptist Cemetery, PE at a later date. Gerard. Joseph Alponse Gautreau January 18, 1940 January 5, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry Gautreau after a long battle with cancer. Gerry passed away peacefully at his home in Crown Point, Indiana with his second wife Katie Gautreau and family by his side. Gerry was born in Bas Cap Pele, New Brunswick on January 18, 1940. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy and sailed for four years on the HMCS Bonaventure. He later moved his family to Shediac and was well know in the community as "The Cable Man". He later travelled around the world setting up cable systems in Aruba, Trinidad, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Mongolia. He leaves behind his four children, Michele of Cambridge, Christopher (Kristina) of Moncton, N.B., Michael (Erin) of Nova Scotia and Jeffrey of Calgary. Pre-deceased by his father Donat Gautreau he is survived by his Mother, Elizabeth (Vautour) Gautreau, his brothers and sisters. Theresa, Yvon, Jeannie, Bernice, Leo-Paul, Lorraine, Bernard. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Sandra Gautreau of Shediac, N.B. By request creamation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time. MASON, RUTH P. - The death of Ruth Patricia (Ganter) Mason, of Saint John, NB, the last surviving member of her immediate family, occurred on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John she was a daughter of the late Hubert and Edna (Dunleavy) Ganter. Ruth was an avid bingo player and loved her trips to Las Vegas with her daughters. She is survived by three sons, Terry (Judy) Mason, David (Cindy) Mason both of Saint John, Glen Mason of BC; six daughters, Diana (Gary) Miller, Sharon (Ron) Roy, Heather (Fred) Sharkey, Maureen (George) Hubley all of Saint John, Colleen (Paul) Thibideau and Sandra Beveridge of BC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by two sons, Kevin and Lory; one brother, Donald; one sister, Jacqueline Bowen. NEATHAM, DOROTHY RUBY - The death of Dorothy Ruby (Jones) Neatham, wife of Ronald Harry Neatham, of Kennebecasis Park, Rothesay, NB, occurred on January 9, 2008 at her residence. Born in St. Michael, Barbados, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Gaskin) Jones. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife Helen of Rothesay, her daughter, Carol and her husband, Clayton Finnamore of Sussex, NB, her grandchildren; Charles, Dallas Neatham, Heidi and John Finnamore and her great-grandchildren; Kobe, Hayden and Hunter Finnamore, as well as several nieces and nephews.
