DOUGLAS, Ronald Walter - On Friday December 28th, 2007, Ron peacefully passed away, with his family at his side, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Maria (Mercedes), dear brother of Lynn, of Oshawa and Dean, of St. Catharines. Father of Chris, of Oshawa and step father of Laura (Guy Jr.) Paone and Chiara Villar (Jason Mitrow), cherished grandfather of Christian Paone. CROOKS, Colleen - After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Colleen Diane Crooks of Grimsby in her 44th year passed away at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby on Friday, December 28, 2007. Colleen was the beloved daughter of Earl and Elaine Crooks. Loving sister of Debbie and John Hensen, Denise and Adrian Junker, Glenn and Kim Crooks, and Wayne and Julie Crooks. CHARBONNEAU, Gérald “Jerry“ - In loving memory of Gérald (Jerry) Charbonneau who passed away, Thursday, December 20th, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Son of the late Oscar and of the late Pamelia (née Brisebois) Charbonneau. Beloved husband of 53 years to Pauline Charbonneau (née Lagacé) who he married in 1954. He was a life long resident of the Flour Mill for 38 years until his retirement in 1991, made his home at his cottage on Nepewassi Lake in Estaire. He attended St- Jean-de-Brébeuf Church, was scoutmaster there for many years, then went to Percy Playground to coach his boys in Pee Wee Bantam & Midgets. His pride and joy was his cottage and working there building trailers for his boys, cutting his own firewood and spending many hours in his work shop. Jerry was a maintenance mechanic for Inco Iron ore Plant, retiring in 1991 after 38 years of service. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club. He loved fishing with his boys since they were young and hunting with them when they got older. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards with the family and friends at home on the lake. He spent many years in Florida which he really enjoyed. Loving father of Denis (Claire) of Azilda, Sue Bowerman (Darcy) of Dowling, Mike (friend Nicole) and Gilles both of Hanmer and Colette Chiasson (Roger) of Sudbury. Predeceased in 1958 by his infant son Donald. Loving Pepère of Jason (Jen), Joey (Jody) and Kory Charbonneau, James Mack (Cindy), Tandra Mack (Mike), Michelle Ayotte (Ray), Kevin and Brigitte Charbonneau, Julie, Alexie Chiasson, André Chrétien, Faith, Reece and Rylee Charbonneau. Great-pepère to nine great- grandchildren. Beloved brother of Jeannine Paquette (Ernest) of Azilda. Predeceased by his brother Marcel (Louise). Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. HASSELL, Richard Arthur. At the Montreal Neurological Institute on Thursday, December 27, 2007, Arthur passed away in his ninety-fourth year following a brief illness. Beloved husband of the late Edna Jean Ross Clark and dear brother of May Watkins (George) and the late Muir. Cherished by his loving nieces Marilyn Goode and Arlene Dubas, and dear friend Ruth Heim. He will be sadly missed by his long-time friends in Lachine and his new-found friends at Le Wellesley in Pointe Claire. Beloved father of Pam Myhill (Bob Force) of Welland, Jacki Kish (Allen) of Port Robinson and Diane Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Loving grandfather of Nikki Myhill of Port Colborne and Wendy Carpino (Santo) of Niagara Falls. Loved great-grandfather of David Sanko and Casandra, Felicia & Mario Carpino. Also survived by Doris' children; Wendy Morvan (Dean), Bill McMillan (Gord), John McMillan (Gina) and Rob McMillan (Carol). Dear brother of Trevor Griffiths (Rita) of France, Steve Griffiths (Elaine) and Joan Edwards, all of England. Also predeceased by parents Ivor & Ann Griffiths, his first wife Elsa and brothers Ernie & Jim. Born in England, Mr. Griffiths was employed as a “master baker” and later as a Liverpool “Bobby”. During the Second World War, Mr. Griffiths served in the British Army, was captured and escaped from an Italian POW camp. In 1954 he came to Canada, living in Toronto before moving to Welland in 1955. He retired as a supervisor with General Motors of Canada in 1982. Mr. Griffiths was a member and Past President of the Welland Lions Club and as well, was a member of the St. Catharines Flying Club during the 1970's. Respecting Mr. Griffiths wishes, there will not be a funeral service, but friends are invited to visit the family on Sunday, December 30th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the H. L. Bob taught school in Mitchell for 30 years, retiring to Owen Sound in 2001. Emma Gallant 1912-2007 A l’Hôpital Western à Alberton, le vendredi 28 décembre 2007, à l'âge de 95 ans, est décédée Emma Gallant-Chiasson, épouse de John Chiasson, domiciliée à Tignish mais autrefois de Dieppe. Née le 28 novembre 1912 à Bloomfield, I.-P.-É., elle était la fille de feu Joseph et Geneviève (Blanchard) Arsenault. Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil cinq enfants: Joséphine 'Joanne' Gallant et Priscella Doole (Bob) tous deux de Montréal, Mae Robichaud (Vincent) de St-Paul-de-Kent, Gilbert (Myonne) de Ste-Marie-de-Kent et Antoine (Rachel) de la Floride; 13 petits-enfants et 16 arrière-petits-enfants. Elle était la dernière survivante de sa famille et précédée dans la tombe par son premier époux, Aubin Gallant, en 1988. EARLE, RAYMOND CHARLES - The death of Raymond Charles Earle, loving husband of Theresa (Casey) Earle occurred on Thursday December 27, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1933 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Raymond Clarence Earle and Mary Kyle. Raymond was a Commercial Traveler throughout NB, PE and NS. He is survived by sisters, Joan Vautour (Gilbert), Verna O'Brien (John) of New Maryland, NB and Doreen Graham (Ronald).
