UWIERA, Alma Jean August 19, 1918 - December 14, 2007 Jean passed away early Friday morning in the Foothills Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered for her great laugh, love of life, generous and gracious hospitality and her melt-in-the-mouth shortbread. Jean is survived by her husband Gerald; four children: Bill, Margaret, Raymond and Judy; three granddaughters and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Jack MacDonald, her brothers Art and Bob and her sister Grace. MINION, Douglas Shayne, P. Geol. March 9, 1951 - December 15, 2007 Shortly after being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, Shayne died in the morning hours of December 15, 2007. He is survived by his wife Marilee; son Nathan; parents Wayne and Marion Minion; five sisters, Laurie (David) Fredricksen, Robin (Bill Mackay) Minion, Cory (Maged) Jomha, Erin (David) James and Daurel (Peter Kent) Minion; and one brother, Joel (Alan Munro) Minion. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Shayne was predeceased by one sister, Tracy. Cremation has taken place. SCHMIDT, Nick G. (Nicolai) June 14, 1916 - December 15, 2007 Nick passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years. He was born in Steinfeld, Russia and immigrated to Canada in 1926. He farmed at Chinook, Morin and Carstairs and was a hard worker. The sport Nick loved most was curling. Nick was predeceased by his father in 1958, his mother in 1976, sister Jessie Anderson in 1973, niece Jane Wetmore in 1991, sister Lena Schmidt in 1995, brother Henry in 1996 and sister-in-law Mary in 2004. Nick is survived by two sisters Erica (Sherman) Wetmore and Mary (Ron) Hulit; sister-in-law Isabel Schmidt; two brothers Issac Schmidt and John Schmidt as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Glenmore Park Carewest for their care and attention. LINNEY, Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Everard) - Peacefully passed away Sunday, December 16th, 2007. She was born in Manchester, England on January 5, 1921 and survived her husband Harry (predeceased) and James (predeceased). Dear mum of David (wife Brenda) and Judith (husband Bill). Loving Nana to Jennifer (husband Ryan), Scott (fiancée Jennifer), Ryan (predeceased), Stephanie and Allison. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of Jennifer and Ryan's baby, her first great grandchild. She has many special friends including Mary and Robert Quesnel, Deidre Godin, Elaine & Ted Dube and her canine companion, Lady. Special thanks to Dr. J. Holub and Dr's. Goluch, Faye and McDonald of the Sudbury Nephrology Dept., the exceptional staff of the Dialysis Unit, TCU, and Chronic Continuing Care, also to Dr. Roch for his care and compassion over the past few days. She worked for many years in the legal profession, both in England and Sudbury, retiring from Ontario Legal Aid Plan in 1991. She was an avid gardener and loved to knit. Mum & Dad had a fond love for the bagpipes and were devoted followers of the Greater Sudbury Police Pipe Band. COLENBRANDER, Elisabeth (nee Bestebreurtje) - Surrounded by her family, at Shalom Manor, Elisabeth Colenbrander was called home by her Lord on December 16th, 2007 at the age of 94 years. Liesbeth was born October 15th, 1913 in Rijsoord, the Netherlands and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1953 to settle in St. Catharines. In 1967 her husband John passed away after 26 years of marriage. She was much loved by her children Ineke and John Bezuyen, Sarah and John Cook, Christina and Jim Kelly, and Fred and Annette Colenbrander. She was adored by her 13 grandchildren Jeffrey (1967), Denise, Terry, Alan, Nigel, Elisa, Milon, Braden, Melissa, J.J., Anna-Marie, Jan-Tina, Johan, their spouses and 14 great-grandchildren. Margaret had worked at Bell Canada and then the Sydenham District Hospital in the Admitting Department for 25 years. She is the daughter of the late Fred & Sarah (Birmingham) Noyle. Beloved wife of Douglas for 56 years. Loving mother of Carol Copeland of Brantford. WALKER, Arthur - At Bluewater Health Palliative Care on December 16, 2007 after a short but courageous battle with asbestosis, mesothelioma, Arthur Walker, the beloved husband for 45 years of Nan. Proud & loving father of son Alan and partner Jan Wilson and girls of Sarnia, daughter Joanne & partner Mike Dennis of Wyoming. Beloved brother of Jack & wife Renee, sister Gladys Howarth, sister Isa and husband Bill Harris. An active member of Bethel Church, he also volunteered his time at Bible for Missions Thrift Store, Meals on Wheels & Inn of the Good Shepherd. Audrey Dorothy (Groat) Davidson BATHURST, NB - The death of Audrey Dorothy (Groat) Davidson, of Bridge St., Bathurst, occurred at her residence on Friday (December 14, 2007) at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer for the last 14 years. Born in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel (Ross) Groat. Her joys in life were her grandchildren, gardening, tending to her flowers and reading. She was an avid reader of novels, books and newspapers. Audrey read every page of the newspapers she saved which dated from 1935 to present day, saving articles that would be of interest to people and passing them on. Her sense of humor was sharp and quick and saw her through rough times and often said "things could be worse". She always had a joke and you never left her house without laughing. She had a soft and caring heart and always worried about the other people in her life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Audrey is survived by daughter, Beth Davidson (Barry Hachey) of Bathurst; son, Eric Davidson (Carol) of Moncton; granddaughters, Natalie, Lana; grandson, Neil; step-granddaughter, Sara; and step-great-granddaughter, Emily; sister, Lillian Thompson of Bathurst; sisters-in-law, Edie Davidson and Lois Davidson; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by daughters, Susan (1970), Heather (1984); husband, Walter (1999); and sister, Marjorie. She was a member of the First United Church, Bathurst. ZIGANTE, BERNADETTE (1936-2007) - Mrs. Bernadette Zigante, of South Esk, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the age of 71. She was the daughter of the late Frederic and Philomene (Jeanson) Perras. She served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1956 to 1961. She was the first female police officer in Saint John, New Brunswick. She worked as a police constable from 1962-1973. In 1995 she was inducted to the New Brunswick Women's Hall of Fame for this great achievement. She is survived by two daughters, Nina Zigante (Gregory Stewart) of South Esk, and Michelle (Claude Connors) of Fredericton; two sisters, Clair Gagon (Harvey) of Granby P.Q., Denise Perras of Granby P.Q.; three brothers, Amede Perras (Rita), Claude Perras (Lorraine) and Louis Perras (Rita), all of Waterloo, P.Q.; three grandchildren, Alexandra and Francesca Stewart and Addison Connors. She was predeceased by sisters, Deneige and Helene; and brothers, Lucien and Andre. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 19, 2007 from St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank at 11am with Father Dan Melanson officiating. WATSON, BILL - The passing of Bill Watson, of Fredericton, NB, husband of Eleanor (Hamilton) Watson, occurred on Sunday December 16, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 12, 1941 in Saint John, NB he was a son of the late Joseph and Bearl (Hatfield) Watson. Bill was a member of Smythe Street Cathedral and also a member of the Fredericton Model Railroad Club. He retired from the Maritime Forestry Complex as a security officer in 1999. Bill had a tremendous impact on those who he came in contact with. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by one son, Joseph Watson of St. Catherine's, ON; two step-sons, Steven (Juanita) Fraser of Fredericton, NB and Mark (Jocelyne) Fraser of Sussex, NB; three grandchildren, Carter Watson of Collingwood, ON, Sarah and Daniel Fraser both of Fredericton, NB; one sister, Martha Watson; and one sister-in-law, Gail Watson both of Windsor, ON; one brother-in-law, Douglas (Sharon) Hamilton of Fredericton, NB; in-laws, Cecil and Jessie Hamilton of Fredericton, NB; and several nieces and nephews. ROXBOROUGH, F. SCOTT - The death of F. Scott Roxborough, occurred on December 16, 2007 at Orchard View, Gagetown. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late David Henry and Frances (Price) Roxborough. An avid athlete, Scott was a member of the Ketepec Aces Softball Team winning many Provincial championships in the 1930's. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II and was employed by Revenue Canada as a Chartered Accountant for many years. He was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was also a member of the Lancaster Golden Service Club. Scott was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. BURDITT, DR. ANNA MARY (1929 - 2007) - Dr. Anna M. Burditt, 78, of Riverview and formerly of Halifax, NS, passed away at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home in Moncton on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Born in Saint John, NB; she was the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Lila (White) Burditt. Prior to entering medical school, Anna was a Chemistry Research Technician in New York and Montreal. She began her internship from 1961 to 1963 at Montreal General Hospital and Queen Mary's Veteran Hospital in Montreal. From 1963 to 1976 she practiced Family Medicine in Saint John, NB and from 1977 to 1984 she served as Assistant Physician, Division of Family Medicine, Montreal General Hospital and as Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at McGill University. She retired as a result of a respiratory illness in 1984, however continued her studies and in 1996 she received her Masters in Sociology from Dalhousie University. Dr. Anna Burditt was the first Woman President of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, N.B. Chapter and served from 1969 to 1971. She was a member of First United Baptist Church in Moncton. She was active in Baptist Missions and spent several weeks in Bolivia, as a doctor on a house boat travelling the Amazon River, treating villages along the way. She had a love for writing and it was her passion for writing, that resulted in the publishing of her many articles. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Doris Hoar of Riverview; her brother, George Burditt of Saint John, NB; by her fourteen nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte Sutherland and Alice MacLean; and by one brother, Albert Burditt. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Riverview Funeral Home, Pine Glen Rd. Riverview on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 from 12:30pm until the time of the service. The memorial service will be held at Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Lydia Melanson 1925 - 2007 Lydia Melanson, 82, of Dieppe, NB, passed away on Friday, December 14th, 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital. Born in Moncton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Georges and the late Demerise (née: Roy) Pitre. She had retired from Canada Post and was a parishioner of St.-Anselme Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by three sons, Ronald (Marjorie) of Oshawa, ON, Raymond (Yolande) of Dieppe and Gerry of Dartmouth, NS; three grandchildren, Yves, Michel, and Jessica; one great grandson, Justin; as well as several nieces and nephews. Born on August 8, 1936 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late C. Nelson R. Scott and Mary "May" McLaren (Scott) Myles. Carolyn worked in food services at York Manor and numerous restaurants. Carolyn loved her cats and reading poetry. Carolyn is survived by her special friend, Peter O. LELIEVRE, Angele (nee Trepanier) - Peacefully with her loving family by her side, Angele Lelievre passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Kirkland & District Hospital. Angele is predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate of 51 years, Marcel Lelievre. Angele is predeceased by her parents Pantaleon & Ernestine (Magny) Trepanier, brothers: Benoit, Jean Baptiste, Jules, Charles, Paul Roland, Bernabe, Gaston, Martin, Paul Emile, Denis and sisters: Jeanne, Gilberte, Simone, Cecile Vermette & Berthe Dumont. She is sadly missed by her surviving sister Magella Mongeon, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews, and many brothers & sisters-in- law. Angele was a long time employee of Canada Trust. She was instrumental in the opening of the first branch of Northland Trust in 1961, presently known as TD Canada Trust. After many years of service, she retired at the age of 60. Angele was very much involved in the community. She was an active member and volunteer of the Canadian Cancer Society, United Way, Kirkland Hospital Auxilliary, member of the Encore Club, Club 50 and devoted member of the Assomption Church. Angele loved to be with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed sitting on her porch at her long time residence at 114A Gov't. Rd. West watching the traffic go by and welcoming friends and family to drop in for a chat. MacPHAIL, Archibald Sinclair “Mac“ - Peacefully at the John M. Parrott Centre, Napanee, Ontario on Saturday December 15, 2007 in his 88th year. Dearly loved husband of Evelyn; father of, Anne (Michael), and Iain (Cindy); and the late Neil (1958-1989). Grandfather of Alex, Angus, Cameron, Ella, Holly, and Ruairidh. Mac was born in Malaysia in 1920. They moved back to his parents' native Scotland at age 10. His first University degree was in English Literature, an interest which never died. The war interrupted his studies as he spent the next few years in the navy in the South Pacific. Medical School was in Glasgow and soon after he met Evelyn. They emigrated to the small town of Larder Lake in Northern Ontario and later moved to Napanee. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in medicine. Mac helped introduce his family to their love of the outdoors, travel, literature and music. The family will receive friends at the WANNAMAKER- TIERNEY FUNERAL HOME, 123 Dundas St. W, Napanee (613-354-3341) on Tuesday December 18 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Grace United Church, Napanee on Wednesday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. MURPHY, Alma Isabel Jane (Bradshaw) - Age 99, formerly of the Wilkesport area, passed away at Fairfield Park Nursing Home, Wallaceburg on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Beloved wife of the late David Wesley Murphy (1968). Loving mother of Mildred (late Byron 1994) Stephens of Brigden, (late Wanda Bessie 1932) Murphy, Melvin (late Norita 1979) and his wife Mary Murphy of Port Lambton.
