TURGEON, Roger Hector - Peacefully at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, Laurentian Site, Saturday morning, December 15th, 2007 in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Barlow). Loving father of Douglas and Dennis of Sudbury. Will be sadly missed by his special friend “Baley”. Dear son of Ovila and Germaine (nee Provost) Turgeon, both predeceased. Brother of Diane (Robert) Leveille of Sudbury, Marie (Donald) Palanio of Garson. Brother-in-law of Julian and Jane Barlow of Nanaimo B.C., also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Sudbury. Having spent his career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in 1994 having over 40 years of service. Roger drove a school bus for 25 years for Estaire Bus Lines. He was an avid gardner and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Roger was very devoted to his family and he was a member of St-Patrick's parish Sudbury. Resting at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. She was born in Foleyet and married Robert Harris in 1956 in Toronto. A longtime Valley East resident, Bernadette was a devout Roman Catholic who belonged to St. Kevin's Church. She enjoyed playing cards, swimming and traveling. She was a member of the Hanmer Golden Age Club. Bernadette will be remembered as a positive person who inspired and encouraged all she met. She was devoted to her loving family. Wife of Robert Harris, predeceased 2000. Jim passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, December 13, 2007. James Graves, born in Theodore, and raised in Springside, Saskatchewan, in his 84th year. Son of the late George and Emily Graves. Beloved husband of Evelyn Graves. DEGENOVA, Michael, (Mike) - Of Belleville, passed away suddenly at Kingston General Hospital on Saturday, December 15th, in his 83rd year. (Life time employee of Canadian National Railway and during World War II he served with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve. Mike was also a long time member of Oak Hills Golf Club; a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 99; an avid fan of the Belleville Bulls, and he enjoyed both carpet bowling and 5-pin bowling.). Dear son of the Late Vincent and Charlotte DeGenova. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Gilhooley) DeGenova. Dear father of Rick (Carlene); Randy, Rodney (Jane), Trudy (Kevin Shannon), and Robbie, all of Belleville. RUSH, Olive Amelia - Went home to be with her Lord on Saturday December 15, 2007 at the Stedman Community Hospice, in her 67th year. Beloved sister of Marianne Schram, Bernice Beney, Bruce Rush and Grant Rush and his wife Doreen. Loving aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Janice M. Girvan STILESVILLE, NB - Janice M. Girvan 71, of Stilesville, with her loving family at her side passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, December 14, 2007. Born in Bass River, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Brown) Jones. Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and attended St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, Bass River. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, board games, gardening, was an excellent cook and spending quality time with her family. FULLER, Patrick Edward February 3, 1928 - December 14, 2007 Patrick Edward Fuller died very peacefully at home on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the age of 79. He leaves Catherine, his dearly beloved wife since 1965, his sister, Joan Raby, and his nieces and nephews. During his journey with ALS Pat showed the greatest courage and stoicism. These two years were filled with constant adaptation to new circumstances but they were years in which much love was both given and received. Born and raised in Banff, Pat graduated in Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1951 and was employed for thirty-three years as a geophysicist by Shell Canada Ltd. LA COUVEE, Drew - 1960-2007 "Sometimes the road was rocky along the way, But I was never travelin' alone..", Steve Earle Drew's 47-year road trip came to an end in the early hours of December 13, when he took a graceful leave from the arms of those he loved and those who loved him so well. After a recent series of spirited and well-fought battles, Drew is moving on. For that, his family is both mournful and grateful. Drew is survived by his wife and soul-mate Joanne Ford; mother Margaret and father George; his brother, Ian (Jennifer); his much-loved "kids" Adam, Mikayla and Braden; beloved nieces Krystyn and Aiyana; and a very wide circle of family and friends, admirers and fellow travelers. GROVER, Annabella (Anne) Forsyth February 12, 1916 - December 15, 2007 Annabella (Anne) Forsyth Grover, beloved wife of the late Cleveland Grover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the age of 91 years. Anne was born, raised and spent her entire life in Calgary, AB. Anne and Cleve loved fishing, camping and enjoyed numerous family picnics at Elbow Falls. They enjoyed travelling and especially loved their Hawaiian holidays. Anne was very active with the Daughters of the Nile for many years. Anne's passion was her talent for knitting, sewing, crafts and especially making wonderful quilts and beautiful cards. Anne is lovingly remembered by her three sons and their wives, Brian and Whitney, of Denver, CO, Wayne and Lenore, of Vancouver, BC, and Dale and Jodie, of Armstrong, BC; grandchildren, Fay, April (Ed), Joanna (Murray), Michael (Allison), Angela (Shawn), Steven, Tim (Annick), and Derek (Vickie); great-grandchildren, Bryton, Baylie, Eddie, Makenzie, Graeme, Richard, Brandon, Sabrina, Nicholas, Patrick, Cameron, Katherine, and Jack; and her former daughter-in-law Pat Faust. GRAY, Laurel (nee Wilton) 1948 - 2007 Laurel Gray (nee Wilton), went quickly to her Lord Tuesday, December 11, 2007 in Sylvan Lake. Laurel was born in Calgary, March 17, 1948, the eldest child, sister to Bill (deceased) and only daughter of Lawrence Wilton and Louisa Wilton (deceased). Attending schools in Calgary, she was proudly Calgarian, an Albertan and Canadian. Family was very important to Laurel and friends were equally important. As life moved the family to Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Calgary, Pincher Creek, Peace River, Drayton Valley, Calgary, then Sylvan Lake, she made friends, built strong bridges and ties that lasted a life time. She will be sorely missed. Laurel had many talents. She loved to prepare decorations for all seasons, an excellent cook, an immaculate and extremely meticulous housekeeper, and loved to travel. Laurel leaves Wilf, her husband of forty years; a son, Christofer; her father, Lawrence; as well as a host of family, relatives, and dear close friends who all shared her love and affection. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the RED DEER FUNERAL HOME (6150 - 67 Street, Red Deer) at 1:00 p.m. with a gathering to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion (2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer). MILLER, Ruth Helen (nee Gilroy) Peacefully and with great dignity surrounded by family on Friday, December 14, 2007. In her impressive 90 years, Ruth embodied the values of kindness, hard-work and loyalty, both in her private and public life. She was the cherished wife and partner of the late Frank Miller, devoted sister of Keith (Jannet) and beloved mother of Jane (Bob, Fraser), Lyn (Judy) and Gordon (Sharon). She was also a treasured grandmother to Allison, Daniel, Cynda, Patrick and Emily, a "great"- grandmother of Corvin and Jaeden, a loving aunt as well as a relative and friend to many. Born in Winchester, Ontario in 1917, to Gordon Gilroy and Jennie Bouck, Ruth lost her mother at a very young age. She was raised in her younger years by her Aunt Edith and Uncle Ernest, and later by her father and step-mother Jane Burgess. As a young woman, Ruth excelled at school and was very active in church life. She later worked for Bell Canada in Sudbury and Ottawa. After raising her children, Ruth returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper, learning computer skills for the first time as a senior citizen. Ruth was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life, including service at the Perley Hospital, on the board of directors for Ottawa West Community Support and in various capacities with the United Church. This selfless commitment to serving her community was characteristic of Ruth's approach to life. In addition, Ruth had an endearing sense of silliness and loved to rhyme, tell witty stories, make puns and play practical jokes. She generously shared with others her love of card games (especially bridge), animals, music, cooking and gardening, creating a home filled with love, laughter and hospitality. Most remembered will be her countless daily acts of love which provided concrete support to family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike. Ruth also retained throughout her life an open, positive and adventuresome spirit. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at both Central Park Lodge in Ottawa and the Woodland Unit at St. Joseph's at Fleming in Peterborough for the professional and compassionate care they provided to Ruth. Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Andrews United Church, 441 Rubidge Street, Peterborough, Ontario on Monday, December 17th, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. Further visitation will take place in Ottawa on Tuesday, December 18th from 7-9 p.m. at Westboro United Church (450 Churchill Avenue). The Funeral will be held at Westboro United Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19th. DONHAM, Pat Leigh Passed away peacefully in Arizona on December 9, 2007. Born in Arkansas in 1925, he was raised in Arkansas, Wyoming and Washington states. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific during WWII. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he earned a degree in geology from the University of Washington. Working first with the US Geological Service and then for over thirty-five years with Phillips Petroleum, his career took him to places, as he said "many people would give their eye teeth to see" throughout the continental US, Alaska and the Canadian High Arctic. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who, along with his loving wife Grace, predeceased in 1991, instilled the values he learned in life on the loving family he left behind. He is survived by his second wife Betty Starr Donham, his daughter Karen (Ken) of Calgary, his son Andrew (Lori) of Vancouver. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Caitlyn, Jessica and James. He will also be fondly remembered by cousin Van Peterson (Ann) of Littleton, CO. His sense of humor and outlook on life will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends and all who knew him. TRANTER, Cyril (Cy) September 13, 1920 - December 13, 2007 Cy Tranter of Calgary, beloved husband of Jean for sixty-five years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Cy was born in Halkirk, AB, but grew up in Calgary. During WWII he served with the RCAF based in Calgary. Cy worked most of his career for Imperial Oil, retiring in 1981 and then moving to Calgary. Cy loved all sport but had a huge passion for golf. He was a past member of the Edmonton Golf and Country Club and a current member of the Highwood Golf Club. Cy's integrity and morals were reflected through his love and dedication to his family and friends. Besides his loving wife, Jean, Cy is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Jean Tranter, Ken and Marge Tranter; and his five grandchildren, Liam and his wife Gwen, Kris, Tara, Bryna and Dakota.
