GILLIES, James - (1930 - 2007) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James on Monday July 2nd. James leaves his daughters Jaqalin and Valery. Grand children Michelle and Michael and his brother George in Scotland. He also leaves many friends and will be greatly missed by his very special friend Wayne McInnes. He was a long time employee of Molson's Brewery, as well a long time member of the Barrie Legion and member of the Army and Navy. At James' request, no funeral was to be held, but he wished a small gathering at the Legion in Barrie to Celebrate his life. His wish was granted. -You will be missed. May God bless you. 10729545

SPENCELY, Frank Stewart - Suddenly on May 30, 2007, in his 44th year, Stewart passed away in his home city, London, England, after a short, brave struggle with myotonic dystrophy. Left to celebrate his life are his parents, Marilyn Lytle (Don) and Harry Spenceley (Mary), his brothers Sandy and Jim (Debbie) and his sister Janet Jonkman (Bill). Uncle Stewart will be remembered by Corey Spenceley, Jessica and Robbie Spenceley, and Billy, Faith and David Jonkman. He will be missed also by Chris Lytle and Renee Giesbrecht. The Funeral Service and interment were held June 7, 2007 in Croydon, Surrey, attended by family and friends from Canada and England. Known for his adventurous spirit and far-flung travels as much as for his culinary skills which financed them, Stewart has now completed his greatest journey. 10730118

HAMMOND, Ruth Elizabeth - Ruth Elizabeth Hammond, 83, of R.R.#3, Simcoe died at Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday, July 5, 2007. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Lloyd Hammond in 1976. Dear mother of Louise Hammond-Fick and husband Bud of Port Dover and Douglas Hammond and wife Bonnie of Atlanta, Georgia. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer, Aaron, Bryce and Caitlin and step grandson Scott. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Murray and Wallace Hammond. Predeceased by her parents Bruce Holloway and Nancy Dixon. Ruth was formerly employed by Henning Motors in Port Dover and Sloat Ford in Simcoe but is best known for operating Hammond's Fruit Market on Highway 24 south along with her husband Robert. She was a member of St. John's Church and active with the A.C.W., the Alter Guild, the Cemetery Board and the Congress Council. She was a member of the Simcoe Senior's Centre where she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation. Il était le cher frère de Fleurette (feu Hilaire Vaillant), Gilberte (feu Henri Leblanc), Marie-Thérèse, Cécile et Gisèle (David Draper). Il fut prédécédé par 1 soeur, Pauline (Roland Gervais) Il laisse également ses beaux-frères et belles-soeurs: Ghislaine (feu Roland H. Gauvreau), Jacques (Lise Vaillant), Roger (Julienne Bertrand), Suzanne (feu Paul Péris), Monique Brazeau (feu Gilbert Larocque), Guy Gauvreau, (feu Madeleine Larocque), Vivianne Cayen (feu Georges Larocque), Diane Tremblay (Denis Leblanc). DERIGO, Serge Serge Derigo, of Chestermere, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, July 2, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Serge is survived by his close friend Gloria Ferreira and her children Roxana and Pablo Palacios; sister Giglia Derigo of Switzerland and sister-in-law Ida Derigo and family of Switzerland. Serge was born on November 5, 1926 in Claro, Switzerland. He came to Canada in 1952 and then moved to Calgary in 1954. Serge worked for Lemmer Spray Systems for forty years. McKENZIE, Helen Cleio 1914 - 2007 Helen McKenzie (nee Michaelides) passed away peacefully on July 4, 2007 at the age of 93. She taught French for the Calgary Board of Education for twenty-five years and opened the first French kindergarten in Calgary in her home. She also provided interpretation services in French and Greek. She is survived by her elder daughter Pauline McKenzie, granddaughters Shawna, Tamara and Marika and great-grandson Luca; and her younger daughter Elizabeth Fragua, son-in-law Pedro Fragua and grandchildren Vanessa and Mark. BOUDREAU, Mark - 1954-2007 - The family announces with sorrow, his passing in Ottawa on February 12, 2007, at the age of 52 years. Beloved son of Patricia (nee Normandeau) and the late Philip Boudreau (predeceased 2005), formerly of Val Thérèse. He also leaves behind his son Matthew, sister Elaine, brother-in-law Gerry Ouellette and the mother of his son Gail Thorpe, all of Ottawa. Older brother to late siblings Donald and Philip, Jr. (predeceased 1981). Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Mark was raised in Val Thérèse where he developed a lifelong love of hockey, baseball, and the great outdoors. Following graduation from Confederation High School, he continued his studies at York University (BA), and the University of Victoria where he received his master's in public administration (MPA). After embarking on his career, Mark held various positions on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, as well as in the private sector; among them, senior policy advisor to the Minister of National Revenue, senior economic and trade policy analyst for the Liberal National Caucus Research Bureau, vice-president of public and government relations for the Certified General Accountants' Association of Canada, and two senior level positions in the Economic Development and Finance ministries of Nunavut's territorial government. He taught at Algonquin College (Ottawa), wrote for many professional journals and served on numerous committees and boards including the Advisory Board of the National Press Club. In 2006, he was elected to Iqaluit (Nunavut) City Council. However, the most fulfilling role Mark played in life was as Matthew's father - they loved to travel, play golf, attend sporting events, and shared a passion for riding roller coasters. In his quieter moments, he liked to read and take long walks. Mark did not let an inoperable tumour slow him down and we are proud that he was able to live a full and interesting life right to the very end. His courage was a real inspiration to those around him. A private family service took place on February 16, 2007. A Memorial Service attended by family, friends, and colleagues, was held at TABARET HALL CHAPEL (UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA) on April 12, 2007. His final resting place is in the Valley East Cemetery.

TUDOR, Reverend Keith Frederick - In his 84th year, Keith died at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, after several years of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty), for 54 years, and the loving father of Ian, Scott, Beth Langille (Kim) and Mark. He will be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren: Bethany, Courtney, Rachel, Ryan, and Maley Tudor and Mariah, Thomas, and William Langille. Keith is also survived by his sister, Grace Carter (Orval) of Cookstown. He was predeceased by his parents, George William Fred Tudor and Bella Jane (nee Massie) Tudor and by his brother-in-law, Arthur Herridge. Keith was a minister of the United Church of Canada and served in churches in Bredenbury in Saskatchewan and in Princeton, Caledon East, Collingwood (Trinity), Guelph (Norfolk), Fonthill and Belwood, all in Ontario, for over 38 years. He served on many Presbytery and Conference Committees and he was the President of the Hamilton Conference in 1985. After retirement, Keith did volunteering with the Canadian Bible Society, with the Guelph Arboretum and he enjoyed singing with the Guelph-Wellington Mens' Club Choir. A private family service has been held and cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Harcourt Memorial United Church, 87 Dean Ave., Guelph, on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. There will be visitation with the family, prior to the service, and then, at the reception following the service. FARQUHARSON, Iona Pearl (nee Logan - In loving memory of Iona Pearl, 90 years, of Pioneer Manor who passed away Sunday, July 1st, 2007 at the SRH- Laurentian Site. She was born in Midland. Iona loved life and lived it to the fullest and on her own terms. She had been the District Commissioner in the Girl Guides of Canada for many years. A life long member of the First Baptist Church where she had actively participated in the church's ministries and fellowship. She was an avid hockey fan especially for the Sudbury Wolves and Toronto Maple Leafs. Iona had a wonderful sense of humour. She loved to hear and tell jokes and stories. She enjoyed afternoon drives with her husband and she was always ready for a car trip anywhere and anytime. Even at the end of her earthly journey Iona maintained the ability to make family laugh and feel loved. Beloved wife of Alexander Farquharson predeceased 1982. Loving mother of Donald predeceased (wife Helen), Brenda Stevenson (husband Harold predeceased), Connie Lee (husband Joseph) and Heather Kennedy (husband Ted). POIRIER, Shawn - It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Newbury, Ontario, on June 3, 2007, at the young age of 35. Beloved husband of Marla (Calcutt). Shawn had a wonderful sense of humour which brought many laughs and smiles to those around him. Even though he moved to Southern Ontario at a young age, Shawn always held the North close to his heart and loved the great outdoors. His true passion in life was his role as a volunteer firefighter and he stubbornly maintained his dedication through his own illness and put the needs of others ahead of his own. WILSON, Mary Anne - A wife, mother, teacher and best friend. Passed away at St. Mary's of The Lake Hospital, Kingston, Ontario on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at the age of 57 years. Surrounded by holding hands with my husband, Ted Demorest, and sons Dimitri and Tom Kezis. The end was peaceful after living with ALS. She lived with courage. Daughter of the late Clifford and Joan (Wynne), sister of Sharon (Phil Hayward) of Stirling, and Barbara (John McKnight) of Calgary. Loved by brothers Earl (Jeanne) of Belleville and Scott (Sharon) of Belleville.
