OBITUARY SHU-YUAN WEI Very peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the age of fifty-two. Shu-Yuan was born in Chuang-Hwa, Taiwan, on June 6, 1954. Devoted wife, loving mother, considerate daughter, cherished sister, caring aunt and thoughtful friend, she was an inspiration that brightened the lives of many. Dearly remembered by adoring daughters Judy and Jenny, husband Jing-Lin, father Ying-Chung and mother Sen-Sen, godchildren David and Vicki, and our entire family. PERRY, ROY J. - The death of Roy J. Perry occurred unexpectedly on May 4th, 2007 at his residence. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Gordon R. and Lillian A. (Davidson) Perry. He was a bartender, was employed with the bowling alley and was a taxi driver. He enjoyed bowling and loved country music. He is survived by his daughter, Leah McLeod; brother, Gordon and his wife, Debbie; sisters, Emily Rogers, Elizabeth Murphy, Nellie Clarke and Jeanie Perry, all of Saint John; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. FLEMMING, GERTRUDE - (nee Scott) passed away on Friday, May 4th, 2007 in Saint John at the age of 87. She will be sadly missed by her nephew, Robert "Bob" (Sandra) Scott; niece, Winnifred Clarke; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alexander and Mary (McAuley) Scott, Gertrude was predeceased by her first husband, Cecil Rourke; second husband, Archie Flemming; brother, Robert P. Scott; and two sisters, Bertha Scott and Hazel Lingley. Gertrude worked for many years for Foster and Rising Insurance and in her later years she was employed by Mitchell McConnell Insurance. She was a member of Westfield Golf and Country Club as well as The Knitting Club. In her earlier years, she was an avid Golf and Tennis player and had a great passion for skating. As a proud member of St. Mark's United Church, Gertrude was involved in the Choir, United Church Women and the Unified Board of St. Mark's. For many years she was also a volunteer at the Saint John Regional Hospital. A proud West Sider. COREY, JAMES STILLMAN WWll Veteran February 2, 1923 to May 2, 2007 Passed away peacefully and with dignity after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. Survived by his wife, Gertrude; children, Wallace (Louise), Garfield (Eileen), Jim (Linda), Wayne, Myrtle (Terry), David (Cecilia), and step-daughter Marsha, as well as 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wives, Mabel and Cora; and his son, Richard; as well as four infant children. Many thanks to the Gatineau Hospital Palliative Care team for their care and compassion as well as the love and support of close family friend, Sue Carnegie. At Jim's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial celebration of Jim's life will be held May 10th, 2007 at 1:30pm, at the York Funeral Home Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive. Kenneth James McKie 1925 - 2007 MIRAMICHI, NB - It is with great sorrow we inform the public of the passing of Kenneth James McKie of Miramichi, NB on the 4th of May, 2007 after a long brave battle with prostate cancer. Born in Bouctouche, NB on New Years day 1925, he was the son of the late James and Florence McKie. He was a World War II veteran who re- enlisted in the peace time Armed Forces until retiring from active service in 1976 whereupon he continued to serve the department of defense in the civilian sector, then as a private contractor until finally retiring in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Celine (Fontaine); two sons, Brian and Kevin (Darlene); a daughter, Adeline (Richard); as well as four grandchildren, Michael, Lindsey, Kyle and Dallas. He was predeceased by one son, Roy; and one daughter, Hazel (Thibodeau). A memorial service commemorating and celebrating his life will be conducted at the St. Andrew's United Church at 188 Wellington St. in Chatham, NB on Tuesday the 8th of May, 2007 at 2pm. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Charles E. and Jeanette Stevens. He had a deep love of family and friends. He was very musical and loved to play. FAWCETT, HAROLD - of McKellar Special Care Home, Nauwigewauk passed away on May 5th, 2007 at the age of 90. Born in Carsonville, he was the son of the late George and Isabelle (McKnight) Fawcett and the husband of the late Dorothy (Rouse) who passed away in 1996. Harold is survived by four daughters, Sheila Fawcett of Saint John, Kathleen Fawcett of Arizona, Carol Copeland (Chuck) of Quispamsis and Cindy Fawcett of Millstream; his son, Bill Fawcett (Janet Darrah) of Havelock; two sisters, Leota Sullivan (Fred) of Saint John and Dorothy Parlee (Murray) of Belleisle; six grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by two brothers, Lee and Everett Fawcett; and by three sisters, Stella Kierstead, Annie Burley and Flora Prosser. Parmi ses nombreux intérêts et passe temps, citons le golf, la menuiserie, plusieurs voyages à Cuba, les chansons de Gilles Vigneault et les récits de Félix Leclerc. Depuis sa retraite, il occupait ses temps libres avec le saxophone, l'Espagnol, le tissage, ramasser des bluets et des fraises. Pierre anticipait la venue du printemps car cela signifiait le temps des semences de son jardin potager. Sa plus grande fierté a toujours été sa famille envers laquelle il a montré un amour sans limite. En plus d'avoir été un époux et un père dévoué, Pierre a été un frère, un beau-frère et un oncle bien apprécié par les familles Groulx et Barbeau. Il ne sera jamais oublié. BLEICH, Else Marie Frieda (Stolz) - Born December 18, 1913 in Gottschimm, Germany, “Oma“ Else was called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2007, surround by her large and loving family at Tabor Manor in St. Catharines. She is predeceased by her loving husband Willi Bleich in 1975. Else is survived by her children and their spouses, Werner and Leni Bleich, Christel and Heinz Holder, Rosemarie and Jake Wiens, Erika and Art Kraft and by 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Else was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and loved to serve her Lord in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Busy Bees quilting group, the Altar Guild and producing Scriptures in Braille. Resting at the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3277 King St., Vineland where visiting hours will be Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Norman LeBlanc 1931-2007 GRAND-DIGUE, NB - Norman LeBlanc, 76, of Grande-Digue, passed away at the Palliative Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, May 5 after a lengthy illness. Born in Grande-Digue on May 4, 1931, he was the son of the Late Henri LeBlanc and the Late Célina Caissie. Norman was retired. Norman spent many years in Toronto before returning to NB in the mid 1990s. He lived a simple and independent life, happy in his small home that he shared with his cat Benji. He was surrounded by his nieces and nephews, who enjoyed visiting him for a chat. He loved keeping a record of the weather on his calendar, riding his 4-wheeler, hunting and doing yard sales. Unfortunately, that all changed when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October 2005. He attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue Norman is survived by four sisters, Sophie Bearmore (Late Melvin) of Moncton, Mina Arsenault (Late Alphérie) of Cocagne, Diana Gauvin (Ulysse) of Dieppe and Soeur Évangeline LeBlanc of Moncton; one brother, Henri LeBlanc of Linsey, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother, Albert in 1975. As per Norman's request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family will receive expressions of sympathy following the funeral at Notre Centre in Grande-Digue. The funeral service will be held at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue on Tuesday, May 8th, 2007 at 4:00 PM. Interment in Parish Cemetery.
