OBITUARY BEATRICE HELEN CHURCHILL (nee ROWE) Born November 22, 1919, Died March 16, 2007. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas Rowe and Mary Jane Morrow, her brothers James Albert and the Rev. Canon T. Desmond Rowe, survived by loving sister Marguerite Weeks. Also predeceased by beloved husband Kenneth W. Johns (1943) and beloved husband John Burton Churchill (2002). Wonderful mother of K. Timothy Johns-Churchill (Noreen), Christopher (Darlene), Peter (Ivana), The Venerable Susan Churchill-Lackey (The Rev. Peter). Much loved Nanny of seven grandchildren Erin, Ryan, Danika, Emma, Andrew, John and Daniel. Beatrice (Bea) was involved in a variety of community activities, but particularly in the I.O.D.E., through which she was an early advocate for the training of school teachers, towards the development of a greater understanding of children with learning disabilities. She was an independent and lively personality, with a charming sense of humor, an ardent reader and rarely at a loss to voice her opinion. Born in 1920, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Obeline (Paquin) Turgeon, of Grand Calumet Island, Quebec. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Francis (Leo) Beauchamp, of Midland, Ontario (d. 1956), Berdie was the loving mother to Leigh Beauchamp (Carl) Day, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dennis (Donna), Toronto, and Jerry (Cathie), Chelsea, Quebec. She was a wonderful and fun-filled grandmother to Matthew (Day), Aaron and Casey, and a devoted Godmother to Michael Lamothe (Calumet Island), Linda (Dieleman) O'Donnell, Sherbrooke, Quebec and Adrienne Turgeon, Grand Calumet Island, Quebec. Berdie is survived by her sisters Yvonne (Aurelle) Lafontaine, Timmins, Ontario, Genevieve (Jean) Martineau, Aylmer, Quebec, Adrienne (John) Dieleman, Greenfield Park, Quebec, and her brother Adrien (Nora) Turgeon, Grand Calumet Island, Quebec and many nieces and nephews. HART-CROSIER, Elizabeth Suddenly in hospital, Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in the presence of her husband, age 46. Beloved wife of Kim Crosier and much loved mother of Jessica; cherished daughter of Lillian and the late Richard Hart. Beloved sister of Paul, Dean and Geoffrey (Heather); and much loved aunt of Dana, Connor, Daniel, Erin and William. She will be sadly missed by her large extended family, her friends and colleagues. Born in Toronto, Liz graduated with a B.A. from Carleton University and worked in the field of publishing. Her energy and charm were evident as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, traveller, dog owner, community volunteer, contributor to the Kanata Courier, ESL teacher, local school volunteer and partner in a consulting business in Ottawa. Statuesque and beautiful, she touched the lives of many. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Stittsville United Church, Saturday March 31, 2007 at 2:00 pm., followed by a reception at 23 Nairn Street, Kanata. WHYTE, Jeffrey Adam Born November 8, 1971 and passed away March 22, 2007, after a valiant battle with cancer. Dawn came early when Jeffrey finally relinquished his hard-fought battle and gently passed away in the arms of his beloved wife, Emily, his loving family at his side, including his mom Lenna, dad Randy, sister Erin and his mother-in-law Clementina. Jeffrey leaves behind the legacy of an athletic young man who loved adventure, basketball, golf and cars and possessed a sense of humour that touched all those around him. He was at the pinnacle of his life when cancer struck and he fought his illness with grace, courage and dignity, his thoughts always on the well-being of his family, including sister Carolynn, and her partner, Rob, Erin's husband Jim Coffey, grandmother Margaret Kemsley, father-in-law Dante, brother-in-law Frank. Left to mourn him is a veritable army of aunts, uncles, cousins, his darling godchildren and all his friends. To have known Jeffrey was a privilege, to have loved him was a gift. Many thanks to the doctors and staff of Sunnybrook Health Science Centre. SEMLER, John Hanus 'Jack' Peacefully in hospital in Perth in the presence of family on Monday, March 19th, 2007 in his 90th year. John Hanus 'Jack' Semler (owner of Semler Hardwood, Perth and an avid horseman; Jack served in WWII with distinction in the Free Czech Forces with the R.A.F. in Britain. He attained the rank of Lt. Col.). Son of the late Hugo and Lilly Semler and brother of the late Peter and his late wife Dorothy Semler & Inge Schmiedchen. Dear uncle of Ann Semler Roxburgh and her husband Jim Roxburgh of Bolton, George Semler and his wife Elaine of Aurora; cousin of Will Semler and his wife Gwen of Melbourne, Australia. He was the great uncle of Bruce (Brenda) Roxburgh of Peterborough, Joel Roxburgh of Prague, Czech Republic and his girlfriend Ira Ignatova of London, England, Sarah (Greg Davison) Semler Davison of Aurora and great great uncle of Ian and Lauren Roxburgh of Peterborough and Brent and Luke Davison of Aurora. Jack was a dear friend of Dr. Marian (Draha) Cech of Ottawa and their family Vlasta and Tamara Cech. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends in Perth, across Canada, Australia, U.S.A. and the Czech Republic. HUMMEL, Dorothy - After a long illness Dorothy Hummel died peacefully on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Eastholme with family by her side. She was in her 86th year. Dorothy (Aultman) was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Hummel (2003). She was the loving mother of Elva (Jerry Way) of Powassan, Thelma (Rocco Mandaglio) of Sudbury, Kevin (Gladys Allard) of Powassan, Lorraine (Pete Pépin) of North Bay, Jo-Anne Hummel (Tim Ellis) of Powassan and was predeceased by daughter Elaine. She was the proud grandmother of Norman, Curt, Constance & Dale Way, Fred, Tonia & Roccy Mandaglio, Marc & Natalie Pépin, Helayna & Jacob Clair & great-grandmother of nine. Dorothy was the dear sister of Joseph Aultman (Dolly), Teresa Piekarski (the late Frank), Clarence Aultman (Marilyn), Vernon Aultman (Theresa) & the late Joyce Aultman . The Hummel family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan on Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm with Prayers led by the Catholic Women's League at 8:30 pm. The mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Joseph's Church on Monday at 11 am. Spring interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Trout Creek.
